Reader acting strange with forms

I have an employee who just got a new computer which has Vista on it. With the new computer, it has Acrobat Reader 8. Ever since the computer, she'll bring up forms that she uses on a daily basis and she's unable to type in the form fields OR she can start typing in the form field and then out of the blue she can't fill out any more information. Then the next time she goes in she can completely fill out a form.
I believe this has something to do with the new computer or Vista because she never had this problem before and was using Acrobat Reader 8 as well.
Any ideas anyone?

Update Reader, possibly installing version 9. For Acrobat, VISTA requires at least AA8.1. She may have an early release. For further questions about Reader (not Acrobat), check the Reader forum listed at the top of this forum.

Reader 9 conflicting with forms made in Livecycle 8

I created a very simple, basic form in Livecycle (pdf background of logo and large sized text with a text field and date field), saved it as a pdf, opened it in acrobat 8 just fine. When I tried to open it in Reader 8 to test it, it refused to use reader and would only open it in Acrobat. Pointless! So, I upgraded Reader to 9. Apparently a huge mistake. I can still open it in Acrobat 8 and see the fields and everything seems fine.
When I open it in Reader 9 (even after saving again in Livecycle), I get a message saying "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact he author of the original version of this document."
This message happens with a brand-new, spanking fresh form. I read that 9 basically corrupts the form if you type in it and save it. You then can't revise what you've typed. However, I'm not even given the opportunity to type and corrupt it. It's just not showing the fields or allowing any use of the form as a form.
Any suggestions on fixing this mess???? Thanks for your help....

Excuse me, I forgot another part of this. Now, when I try to open the previous form in Livecycle, I get this message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
Um, yeah. Since I have Acrobat 8 and Reader 9, I have no idea where the spaztastic behavior originated.
Should I just be uninstalling 9 and searching the net for 8?

Force Adobe Reader to Open With Form

Hello,
Is there any way that you can implement a version check in the form so that non-adobe PDF readers are rejected?
For example, A client opened up a form in Apples Preview, was able to fill it all in but when it came to "submit via email" the button did nothing. I tested this myself and came to the same conclusion, but i used the Adobe PDF viewer for mac and everything worked fine.
Any help would be Appreciated.

You can use the app.viewerType command that will return to you a string to indicate which viewer is looking at your file. Not sure what will happen in another Viewer but the doc says:
Reader will be returned for Acrobat Reader version 5 or greater
Exchange will be returned for Adobe Acrobat earlier than version 6.0
Exchange-Pro for Acrobat Pro version 6 or later

Firewire acting strange with video

Ok, I have no idea what is causing this. I only know that the firewire Alesis Multimix 8, stops outputing sound and becomes really choppy with use on video editing for more than 10 minutes. I have it rigged for my external speakers, and it works fine when I'm on logic pro, but anything video related seems to mess it all up.

Yeah, unfortunately xvmc is a nVidia thing. I forgot about that when I posted before.

Using the Adobe reader iPad app with forms

I want to use the app at work to allow clients to fill out forms. I uploaded my forms and it works well typing in the boxes and writing signatures. Is there then a way to make copies of a document in the app so that I can have a blank template. Also, can you change the name of a document or form once it is opened in the app?

Adobe Reader on iOS currently does not allow you to create copies of a document, or to rename a document. We have taken down these requests for consideration in a future update.

IMac acting strangly with left-click and tracking

Okay, well earlier today, my mouse's tracking suddenly stopped working on my iMac. So I then switched to a tablet which was working fine to make up for the tracking. However, about 6 hours later, with my tablet, the left-click function started to not work on it, so I went back to my mouse. My mouse's tracking was working again, however the left-click function on the mouse was not, just like the tablet.
I would blame the products if it didn't happen on two completely different ones, so I'm guessing my iMac is messing up somehow. It has the lastest version of Snow Leopard. If there is anyone that can help me with it that would be awesome. For right now, everything is working except for the left-click. I can do some functions with the right-click, but not major ones like clicking to see if there are updates for my computer (once it has checked for any).

Yes, uploading files to iCloud Drive will create hidden shadow copied on your Mac. SO you will not save space, but you can use iCloud Drive documents offline, and Time Machine can make a backup.

Why is Photos acting strangly with iPhone

I imported a group of referenced photos into Photos app and then created a shared iCloud folder so I could see and access these photos on IOS devices since the regular album I put them in showed as empty albums in IOS. The group of photos I imported were jpegs and tiffs. When I tap the shared folder on iPad, the group shows, except there are a number of empty squares where pictures should be. If I tap on the blank square, I see that the photo's icon downloads and then shows every time I open the folder. Why did they not all download initially?
My other question is why on my iPhone does tapping this shared folder not only show these recently imported photos, but also another shared folder? This does not happen on my iPad.
Everything was created on my Photos on my iMac.

Iphone 5 Battery Charging Acting Strange

The last few days my Iphone 5 has been acting strange with charging the battery. I will be charging it and it will not go past a certain number then if i unplug it a couple times or restart it then it says 100%. It will be ok for a little while and then go through the same thing. Yesterday my phone said 36% and a couple minutes later shut itself down because it was a 0%. So the number is just not reading correctly.
Is this just as simple as changing the batter most likely? Or something else, other than this the phone works fine as far as i can tell

Always try to charge iPhone when convenient for you. You can use iPhone right out of box, no problems, or you can charge it up if convenient. The best time for most users to charge iPhone is at night while they are sleeping so it is fully charged for the next day. The iPhone lithium battery is very versatile, so charge when convenient for you, it will not effect performance or life.

Why is my Ipod shuffle acting strange?

Ever since I put certain songs on my Ipod Shuffle, it has acted strangely with those somgs. For example, when I try to skip one of the songs, it instead goes back to the beginning. The same thing can be said for going back in the song list. Sometimes, after doing it fast enough, it changes the VoiceOver language for no reason from English to a language I can't identify. This is even wierder when the song title is in English. Some of the songs I added are not llayed at all, or when I play a voiceover of one of the songs, then go back to hear the name of it again, it says a different title. This happens only with these songs, which is about 8 sings, but the Ipod only plays 5 or 6, and it says one title one second, and another title the next. Is it the audio files? I have erased all of the music, then re-synced it, but it did not help. This problem is very complicated and strange. Also, this all happens when the songs are in order, as I do not listen to music when it is shuffled.

How good is the new Adobe Reader IOS for fillable forms and interactive pdfs?

At last adobe reader for ios has been updated so now fillable forms can be completed on ipad/iphone but how good is it?
I've tested a form and reset form/print form and save as buttons do not seem to work.
Form submit seems ok, just wondered what others thought?
Also the new Adobe Reader IOS is now able to display interactive pdfs with buttons such as go to next page etc yet page transitions do not work? Again whats everyone elses opinion on the reader ios update?

My preliminary experience is that Reader does better with forms than with interactivity.

I had issues with that file as well when I was running ZFD and ZFS 6.5
SP2 with ZFH 7 SP1. See my thread "Bug found with ZFH7 ConsoleOne
plugins." Deleting the license snapin file or updating all components
to 7 SP1 resolves the issues.

Adobe 9 issues with forms in Acrobat Reader 7

I've been reading up on this forum as to why the adobe rights are disabled after a user saves their data in Reader. I have been adding form fields in Adobe Standard 9 then save the file, test it in Reader, then Extend the Forms Fill-In for Adobe Reader and save the file with a slightly different name. The only usage rights that are allowed is to Save Form Data. When I test the file in Reader 7, I can save the data but when I go into the document to make sure my data is there, I get that dreaded and popular message "Adobe Rights have changed and are no longer valid dialog box...
I never changed the original extended file to cause this..even when I don't add data but save to a new file anyway I lose the writable functionality.
A side note, I do not use LiveCycle and have been asked not to when creating these forms.
I did not have any problems with the forms that I had other people create and extend in Adobe Pro 8. It seems to be a Standard 9 and Pro 9 problem. Or, it could very well be me!
I use Reader 7 to test because these forms are for a volunteer organization and there are users on some early versions of Reader. II do not use earlier versions of Reader. This doesn't seem to be an issue in Reader 9. I cannot vouch for Reader 8.
I just had one of my form writers take my form that was done in Standard 9 and Extend Forms Fill-In via Adobe Pro 8. She initally received a message stating that the file appears to use a new format and it may not open or display correctly. I then got that same message when opening the extended version of the file. The document rights on the new form allow me to add comments and markup, a digital signature and save form data. Once I fill out the fields and try to save, also get another dialog box telling me that I need Adobe Standard or Professional to save (in this case it was 7 since I'm testing in Reader 7).
The forms that I am creating are initally PDFed by another party. The orignal forms are created in QuarkXpress 4.1 and PDFed using Acrobat Distiller 4.0 for Macintosh. I retrieve the files from a web site and save them to my hard drive to work on them. They are shared via email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've spent the last week researching but no anwers to help me solve this particular issue with 9.

Interesting. I did just do the Reduce File Size and extended the document and there were no dialog boxes when I saved my data. The file size got larger instead of smaller and I received the message at the end of the Reduce File Size cycle that said " Enforcement of compatability to an earlier version of Acrobat has increased the size of some images". There is an image in the file, not one that I added, but from the original document. No change to the image either. No biggie to me. As long as my users can fill out the form and come back to it later to make changes, I'm happy!

Ipad 3 to my TV with the Apple Digital AV Adapter. The Ipad is acting strange when I connect

When I connect my Ipad3 to my TV with the Apple Digital AV Adapter the touch screen starts to act strange. The mirroring on the TV looks great, but its impossible to navigate on the Ipad. It keeps opening apps I have not selected and not responding when I try to open and close f.ex. pictures and videos.
When I disconnect everything is back to normal.
Any suggestions?

I cannot open some pdf files online with Reader XI (like sample forms in Help section or IRS.gov or credit card statements). I have uninstalled Reader XI, cleaned and reinstalled. I have no problem right-clicking and downloading and then viewing the files. No problem viewing acrobat files. I'm runnnig Windows 7, IE9. I can acces them through Chrome.

RESOLVED
I found two suspect programs that were installed within the last 48-hrs that may have caused the problem
1) - Libre Office - latest update. This is a fork of Open Office. (unlikely)
2) - ManyCam video manipulation software (likely)
Following info here, I opted to try to open an Adobe PDF file that was on my hard drive. When I did, it refused and IE10 gave me an ActiveX error (AHA!!). When I checked the installation of ManyCam, it had installed a version of DirectX that may have over-written the resident versions or disabled them somehow.
I uninstalled ManyCam but left Libre Office's update in place, then I ran a system restore from a point 24-hrs before the installations.
This resolved the problem 100%.
So, the suggestion here is that there may be one or more program in the wild that is interupting the ActiveX or DirectX systems. They may be running or installing an older version. In this case it appears the handlers were broken.
Once the system restore had completed I was able to open Adobe PDF files within my IE10 browser from the Internet as well as open PDF files from my hard drive.
Note that this same issue also clearned up a problem I was having with the Comodo Dragon web browser, which is a fork of the Chrome project. Once I eliminated the suspect program and ran the system restore all was well. In the instance of the Comodo browser it was unable to open or reach anything - dead white screen below the menu bar.
So my suggestion would be to take an inventory of recent program installations, remove/uninstall them, run system restore from a date before the suspect programs were added, and see what happens. In my case that fixed the problem.

How many programs do you have open while you're working in Illustrator? Do you have a lot of layers or art boards?
It could be that your computer was being slowed by too many programs, or a complex design file. The age of your computer could also be a culprit.
