Reader add-in crashes browsers

Reader version: 9.3.2
IE version: 8.0.6001.18702
Firefox version: 3.6.3
Google Chrome version: 4.1.249.1064
For a couple of months now, "embedded" .pdf files crash all of my browsers, or fail within the browser window (Chrome). By "embedded," I an referring to links which create a .pdf file and then bring it up within a web page. On these files, I have no option of saving the file to my hard drive from the link. This seems to be most prevalent on sites where a report is generated in .pdf format, or some sports websites where tournament brackets are being updated regularly.
For those pages that are a direct link to a .pdf file, I can usually save the file locally, then bring it up, and I have IE and Firefox set up to call Adobe Reader, and the files come up within Reader as a separate app.
I have uninstalled all of my browsers and Adobe Reader three times. I've deleted the Adobe folder under Program Files before reinstall. I've also ran registry clean-up programs after the uninstalls just to make sure that there were no lingering entries that might cause a problem. I've also ran the option within Reader to repair the installation.
The problem seems to have begun after an update loaded for Reader, but I don't remember which update it was. I want to say it was the update/upgrade to 9.3, but I can't be sure.
At this point, I'm not sure what else to do. When I performed the reinstalls, the first one I just uninstalled then reinstalled Reader. When that did not work, I uninstalled Reader, then all the browsers. Installed Reader, then the browsers. No success. Uninstalled Reader and the browsers again, then installed the browsers first, followed by Reader. Again, no success.
Any help that anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated!

Seen this happen on my Win7 32b machine after Hosted upgraded from C8 to C9. Couldn't find a fix but offlining from a WinXP box worked fine.

Adobe Reader Add-in Crashing IE 9 CRM Dynamics 2013

All,
So basically we are upgrading to CRM 2013 for Microsoft Dynamics. Some users who have IE 9, company default, when they try to get to the CRM dynamics server in IE 9, it crashes. Microsoft determined that the Adobe Reader Add - In was causing it to crash. If one either resets the browser back to default, or disable the Adobe Reader addin, it works.
Any suggestions things to look at? Fix?

Are you running the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer? The add-on is 32-bit and can only run on 32-bit editors.

IE crashes when closing, doesn't happen with Reader add-ons disabled

I'm currently testing out Adobe Reader v11.0.2 before installing it to all the computers at the school. It seems to be working perfectly fine. Internet Explorer on the test computer crashes every time I try to close it. While trouble-shooting that error, it turns out to be a problem with Adobe Reader add-on. When I disable it, IE closes just fine. When I re-enable the Reader add-on, IE starts to crash again.
OS: Vista Business 32-bit
IE: 8
Need any other info?

I'm not viewing any kind of PDF. I simply open Internet Explorer, view any website, and then close IE. As it is closing, it pops up a message saying that an error has occurred. When I disable the Adobe Reader add-on, it doesn't crash.

I have uninstalled Reader 11 and the problem has completely disappeared. I'll play with this some more, but it looks like we won't be using this version here at the school any time soon.

Acrobat XI Outlook 2013 add-on crashes Outlook each time I try to convert an email to PDF,
I did not see a relevant answer to this specific problem in the forums.
Of course I can print an email to acrobat PDF but I believe a fix or an update from Adobe is overdue.
I had to disable the add-on in the meantime.
Otherwise PDF maker in the right click context menu works fine.
Windows 7 64 bit, Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.5

Have you tried the following?
Launch Office 2013 as Administrator, i.e. right click on Office icon and select 'Run as Administrator'.
or
Try creating a new user account on Windows to see if the same issue occurs.

Adobe Reader 9 plugin crash

Whenever I try to read a pdf using Adobe reader in a browser, it crashes and I get booted from the browser. If I try to read the pdf outside of the browser using Reader, the same plugin error window pops up and the Reader crashes.
I'm not entirely computer-savvy, so I don't know how to do a crash report, but if someone can tell me how, I will gladly provide one.
I saw on another forum to do something with the dll's, but I'm unsure of the procedure by which to do this.
The only way I've been able to read pdf's has been through "google documents" when I receive them via email.
Could someone please help? I need to view/print documents for a legal battle regarding my child and I'm not able to do this currently.

First - what version of Adobe Reader do you have?
And now it gets a little bit complicated. Adobe Reader can be a plugin to Internet Explorer, and it crashes when you try to open an online PDF document. That is not unknown; it happens sometimes.
But when you open the standalone Adobe Reader, it also crashes with a plugin error. This time it must be a plugin to Adobe Reader, not Internet Explorer.
Furthermore you write "the same plugin error window pops up" - so I can only assume that it is a Reader plugin that crashes, not the IE plugin.
What I would try in your situation:
open Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall Adobe Reader;
open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader and delete all plugin... folders;
reinstall Adobe Reader from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.3/enu/AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe
The path in the second line above could also be ...\Reader 8.0\... depending on your Reader version.

Full screen auto-hide feature does not work with Adobe Acrobat Reader add-on 11.0.0.379 in Firefox 17.01.

"Full screen" menu item and its keyboard short cut F11 stop working with Acrobat Reader. The Firefox top edge border does not hide once you have moved around in the Acrobat document. Therefore it is not possible to display PDF documents in a true full screen mode within Firefox. The auto-hide full screen mode works nicely with other Firefox windows, so apparently the Acrobat Reader add-on breaks the feature. Windows 7 64-bit.

Non-interactive printing can only be executed during batch, console, and menu
events.
Outside of batch, console, and menu events, the values of bUI and of interactive are ignored
and a print dialog box will always be presented.

Reader add-on will not stay in IE 10

I recently upgraded from IE 9 to IE 10. I cannot open .pdf files in IE 10, although I can save them to my desktop and open them from there. Firefox opens .pdf files.
I went to manage add-ons in IE 10, and Reader was not there. I re-installed Reader, then opened IE 10 and Reader was in the add-ons. I tried, and failed, to open a .pdf file in IE 10, and got a pop-up that Reader was unable to update - looked in add-ons and Reader was gone again.

Is the Reader add-on also missing if you show 'All add-ons'?

Currently the Reader adds "-signed" to the filename. Not good.

I am using Reader XI. I use the Signature (Sign) feature to sign my PDF's. I sign ALL my PDF's prior to sending them out to customers. I do not like the filename to be modified when I sign. Currently the Reader adds "-signed" to the filename. This is a nucense and adds a couple seperate steps to the process due to the SaveAS dialog appearing. If any volume of PDF's is processed this becomes an issue for me. Is there an option or other to prevent the filename from being modified. Thanks in advance.

Any update on this from Adobe? We have many users who, as part of their workflow, need to add signatures to PDFs, and the filenames need to stay unchanged. At this time, we have to tell them to manually remove the "-signed" text from the end of the filename, which complicates things and is prone to errors.
There needs to be an option to disable this behavior.

Adobe Reader 7.1 crashes on Mac OSX with Read Out Loud

I installed a Cepstral voice as the default on my Mac OSX 10.3.9. When I try to use the Adobe Reader "Read Out Loud" function, Adobe Reader 7.1 crashes. It didn't do this before installing the new voice. How can I fix this? THanks, Pam

PDF Reader add on not visible in IE

Installed X1 Pro on windows 7 32 bit OS running IE 9 and do not have the Adobe PDF Reader add on listed, (showing all add on) in IE. PDF links will only open in IE which I do not want. Have tried un-installing, deleting Adobe folder out of programs files and reinstalling, same results. Have installed on other PC's with same setup with no issues. Any ideas on how to disable the reader add on when it does not show up as a manged add-on option in IE? Thanks in advance.
SOLVED: Select "Run without permission" option and it will show the PDF Reader option to disable.

Adobe Reader only comes in an x32 bit version...
It won't run on web pages that are using the x64 IE tab process. You uses must be using the x64 version of IE9.

Add-In crash on start (win8), Connection Test positve (incl Flashplayer)

my Adobe Connect Add-in Crashes after it has started and builds up MY Meeting Room. I can Access other Meeting Rooms, and People can Access mine as well. But since mine breaks, I can not use it...
Together with my IT department, we checkt the add-in, ran checkdisk, the connections, re-installed the add-in and also changed the Screen size. But still it breaks down.
Does someone have an Idea ?
I am running a Win8 Machnie with IE10 and have nothing changed on it since months besides installing Snagit (and a few days later, I found that the connect does not work).

Reader 9.1 crashes on search

I am running Adobe Reader 9.1 in Windows XP SP3. Frequently when I try to search documents Reader freezes, then crashes.
Less frequently it also crashes the whole computer (blue screen of death).
This happens whether it is running as a plug-in in my browser or as a stand-alone.
Anyone with similar problems or ideas?

We are seeing the same with several of our PCs here. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not correct this. Neither will updating to 9.1.1
The search will either cause Adobe Reader to crash, or it will select the wrong word.
Also, I noticed that if we try a Full Reader Search, in the left column it displays an error message "There was an error retrieving text." instead of search results.
This appears to be affecting PDFs created by an app called "Active PDF Toolkit"
If we use Adobe Reader 8 and earlier, everything works normally.

I work in a government organization and we are about the deploy IE11 to all of our machines. We've encountered an issue with how IE11 opens PDF. We want the PDF to open in IE11, and not open a separate Adobe Reader application. The fix we found so far was to disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, then re-enable. I also want to mention that we are pushing a group policy that does tweak a few settings. Here's what we are doing,
Pop-up allow list (several websites)
Prevent participation in the Customer Experience Improvement Program (enabled)
Turn off pop-up management (disabled)
Compatibility view
Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites - Enabled
Site to Zone Assignment List - Enabled
Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls - Enabled
Automatic prompting for file downloads - Enabled
Logon option - Enabled
Access data sources across domains - Enabled
Would any of these cause an issue with the Adobe PDF reader add-on? (We are using Adobe Reader 11.0.09

I am starting to believe this issue may be a registry entry in HKCU as I can get the add-on to work for longer periods of time if I remove the user's profile from the local PC and then have them log in to build a new profile... the problem is that the add-on doesn't always continue to work, it just appears to work for a longer period of time before having to disable and enable the add-on again.
As far as my install package goes, I created a transform file using the Adobe Customization Wizard with the following options:

I then created a VB Script to run the msiexec and reference the .msi and .mst files. I created the SCCM package and program and reference the VB Script. The installation works and the modified settings are there, so I know the .mst file is being referenced as well. I'm still working on finding a resolution and hopefully one of us comes up with something solid soon.

Adobe PDF Reader add-on is not available.

I can't get the Adobe PDF Reader add-on to show up in any browser (Chrome or IE). It's not in any of the drop-downs under "Manage Add-ons" in IE. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. with no success.
Any ideas?
