Reader and Pro 9 fighting poorly together

I have a user with Acrobat Pro 9 installed.
She goes to a website and tries to open a PDF file. She gets a message that she needs to install Reader 8 or 9 in order to read the file.
Heck...she HAS Pro 9...what's going on?
I do think she had the TRIAL version of 9 for a month and then I uninstalled the Trial and installed the full version.
I don't have this problem on my computer (WinXP - SP3) but then I went straight to Pro w/o the Trial. Could that be the problem.
I also suspect there MIGHT be a problem with her profile screwing things up? We use roaming profiles here (probably a mistake?)
Any thoughts on why this is happening and, more importantly, what to do to fix it. I suspect I'll need to remove and reinstall the program, but how do i do that so NO REMNANTS of the OLD stuff is left?

Roaming profiles could be the problem. People have found various Acrobat
issues with roaming profiles.

Acrobat 9 Reader and Pro extremely slow when loading.

Machine: Dell Precision T3500 with an Quad Core Intel® Xeon® W3540 2.93GHz, 8M L3, 4.8GT/s Turbo processor with Windows XP Pro 32-bit and 4GB RAM NECC 1066Mhz installed.
When installing, uninstalling, restarting, reinstalling Acrobat 9 Reader and Pro, or Acrobat 9.2 Reader and Pro, and upon opening a PDF double-clicked on opens Acrobat as expected but it would take an incredibly long time to open the PDF. Opening the application and then going to File, Open also recreates the effect. When the PDF opens, you can see vector drawings appear line by line as if running on a really old machine like a Pentium II and having the computer pause like as if it has frozen up until after waiting a minute or two. During that time, Windows XP is unresponsive until after waiting for the PDF file to load. Diffferent varieties of PDF with simple one-page text to complex PDF's with scanned, vector and hundreds of pages of text has both recreated the frozen in time effect. And when scrolling to different pages within a PDF, the scrolling is choppy, jerky, and at times, pauses to have drawings to appear.
In the past, applications behaving erratically in this fashion was traced down to the software incompatible with HyperThreading and multiple processors. Does anyone know if this might be the case with Xeon processor listed above or similar hardware? Has anyone else experience this? Information about a possible issue mentioned above after searching produced no hits both at Adobe or out there.

Installing only one or the other (Reader vs Pro and either 9 or 9.2) produced no improvement and the same delay.
Disabling malware applications and then uninstalling them one at a time also produced no improvement.
Disabling the HyperThreading feature within the BIOS/CMOS did not help.
The only workaround so far is to launch Adobe Reader or Pro first, go into Task Manager and then "Set Affinity..." and have only one check mark on any CPU from CPU 0 through CPU 7. Then either drag the PDF into the Adobe Reader or Pro, or go to File and then Open to load the PDF. This process was the only way so far to "normally" open and immediately view and scroll the PDF regardless of complexity without delays or freezes.
Has anyone else been able to reproduce the problem and test the workaround on similar hardware?

How to: have multiple users on reader and pro fill out same form

I have a marking form that 5 users will use to mark to questions each and fill in. Having an issue with the reader users that when they same they create a new file and can't save to the one form. All the pro users can share the form fill in their two questions and then pass on to another user who updates the form the adobe reader user however creates a new file. Is there anyway around this other then all using pro.
It is not always the same markers I will have up to fifteen markers.

Not an easy way. You'd need to create a server that the applets would connect to and then you could potentially have several players. But it involves changing your applet's design and doing a lot of networking and other such stuff, so it's not something you can whip up in a couple of weeks (if you don't have any experience on those things).

If you buy a Mac Pro 2013, use the iMac for casual stuff and use the Mac Pro for media creation work.
Maxed out iMac with 4-core 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD PCIe is nice.
Mac Pro with 6-core 64GB dual graphics for $1000 more might run rings around it.
Why not look them both up on Geekbench.
Some people really need and like having two systems, maybe laptop (Air) and a more powerful system.

Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program. text/plain" They appear to be mainly from competing platforms, android, etc. Is there a workaround for this problem?

Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro updates for 11.0.10 being pushed out through SolarWinds Patch Manager are not being recognized as applicable.

I am trying to update our Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro to 11.0.10 using the default MSP packages with SolarWinds Patch Manager. All of the systems keep reporting as 'NOT APPLICABLE'. All of the workstations have Reader11.0.09, with about 10% still on 11.0.08 (due to the fact that the reader 11.0.09 package only patched about 2/3 of the systems). All systems that have Acrobat Pro are 11.0.09.
In SolarWinds I am using the "Adobe Systems, Inc. Packages" node.

and the SW Patch Manager downloads the msp's straight from Adobe.
I have checked the msp's manually and they will update at least back to 11.0.07 in Reader, and 11.0.0 in Acrobat Pro. (I had an old stand alone system that still had Reader 11.0.07, and I did a new install of Pro and went straight to update 11.0.10)

It sounds like you are attempting to use the SCUP catalogs outside of the MS solution. I can almost guarantee you that Adobe didn't test it if it's not referenced in the ETK: 11 SCCM-SCUP — Enterprise Administration Guide
That being said there "should" be logging available in any deployment solution. Since I am not familiar with Solar-Winds particular solution I can't say if it logs errors and how verbose those logs might be. If you have logs then post the output and the forum members "might" be able to assist you.

Disable or Hide Online Support menu option from: Reader, Acrobat Standard and Pro XI 11.0.2

I'm trying to make a custom installation for 3 applications: Adobe Reader XI 11.0.2, Acrobat Std. and Pro XI 11.0.2 and most of the options that I wanted to hide are done with the Customization Wizard but I can't hide Online Support. I didn't found yet any FeatureLockDown for this option so far. So our users can still use the Online Support options.
Notice that I tried to drop a script into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Javascripts but when you 1st open the application it has a delay and somehow you still can access it. But if you try to open it again the menu is hidden.

But a FeatureLockDown on HKLM hive will be the best way to disable this option as users don't have access to this registry hive and some advanced users with more rights could be able to delete the .js file if they know where it is saved.

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Pro Extended

I tried to upgrade to the 9.3.4 version of reader and it wouldn't let me for some reason. Something about a missing .msi file in one of the directories. So I used revo uninstaller to remove it and try to reinstall it. I redownloaded the program and the ran the Adobe Reader 9.3.4 Update - setup. It processes to 100 % and then closes. And nothing. so I don't know whats going on. I also downloaded the trial of Adobe Pro Extended and everything went fine up to the install screen. I click the install button and nothing happens, so no clue whats going on with that either. Any ideas?

P.S. The error message that you received while updating Adobe Reader was probably due to the fact that you may have deleted the cached setup files on your system. Hence, it was prompting you to provide the required installer file (.MSI file)

I have created Editable PDF using itext(5.3.0) in java. I have used Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X Pro. But in editable PDF combobox search is not working properly.
It's only search first character.

My (admittedly old and slow) system did this too the first time I opened Reader 11, but it "unfroze" after about fifteen seconds, (an eternity in computing time, I know, but it did eventually open all the way) What you're seeing on the right is the "Tools" panel initializing. That's exactly where mine would freeze up on starting. Once it did finally open fully, I clicked the "Tools" link at the top to close the panel, and I opened and viewed a document that way, then closed reader. Now when I open Reader, the Tools panel doesn't initialize and it opens immediately.
Reboot and before you open anything else, open Reader. When you open it, DO NOT try to do anything with it until it fully opens, don't click anything, don't try to switch to another app. Give it time to open fully, and then click the Tools link to close it. Then, open and view a document, and close it. Close Reader and reopen it. the Tools panel should remain closed and Reader should open fully immediately.

Try if you can do everything you need with PDF Pack; otherwise keep Acrobat Pro.

If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.

To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.
