Reader can't read/open large files created in ArcGIS ??

Hi there
We have a problem with files (GEO PDF's) created primarily from ArcGIS (ESRI).
Reader version XI or DC can't open/read them (blank screen, but all functions working). It can be files around 60 MB or 1.5 GB and above 300 DPI.
The weird thing is that if we use FOXIT ALL of them will open/show so it can't be the file that is corrupt, but something in Reader.....either a setting, limitation or ??
Anyone ??????

I try and open them in Reader (double left click on the file) and all I get is a single screen with two overlapping frames neither of which have anything to do with the subject although the presentation title is at the top. One of the frames had "Adobemail.com" on it. Our work computers were recently up-graded to Adobe XI and this was the first time I tried to open a presentation that has worked fine in the past. I would have thought that Adobe XI would have been backward compatible, but it doesn't seem so. To configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files:
1. Quit Internet Explorer(any other browser)
2. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
4. Select Internet in the list on the left.
5. Deselect(Uncheck) Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.
6. Restart Internet Explorer

I think my question might be simple to answer, so please if you read this give it a try...
I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on it. Adobe Reader 9 was allready installed. I wanted to open simple pdf files, but I got the message "Adobe Reader ?" in an empty field that pops up.
Why can't I open pdf files? Do I also need to install the Adobe Flash Player as well?
I would be very glad if you could give me a hint.

It appears as if Adobe Reader is not correctly installed. Try installing the latest version 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - make sure that you uncheck any unwanted software bundled with the download.
P.S. no, you don't need Flash Player to open PDF files.

How do I read a large file and not get the file cut into bits so each has its own beginning and ending.
like
1.aaa
2.aaa
3.aaa
4....
10.bbb
11.bbb
12.bbb
13.bbb
if the file was read on the line 11 and I wanted to read at 3 and then read again at 10.
how do I specify the byte in the file of the large file since the read function has a read(byteb[],index,bytes to read);
And it will only index in the array of bytes itself.

If the file has been flattened or if it was flat to begin with there will be no problems.

Can't open DNG files created with Mac CS5 downloader in Mac CS4 Photoshop

I recently installed CS5 on my mac but I kept CS4 installed as well. I notice that I cannot open DNG files created with CS5 in Photoshop CS4. Bridge CS4 shows the files only as icons - no image thumbnails. I am able to open these same files on a Windows version of CS4. Is there some plugin for my mac CS4 that will enable me to access the DNG files created with CS5? Is there a way to use my CS5 downloader when converting my raw files from my camera to DNG files that will make them compatiple with PS and Bridge CS4?

Well, yes...but you'll need to modify your DNG Converter prefs to allow for that. You''ll need a recent (ideally current DNG Converter 6.4.1 or above) and click on the DNG Converter preferences and select the correct DNG Converter options. Check DNG Converter 6.4.1 (the current version) and click on "Change Preferences" to be sure select Camera Raw 5.4 and later then make sure CS4 is updated to ACR 5.7 (which is the last version of ACR for CS4) However, the changes made to ACR 6.x really should be adopted since IQ for ACR 6.4.x is a lot better...

I want to read/open a file in SAP DMS from an external system . External system is basically a non-sap system.
Can this be achieved through an RFC..
Does anyone know of any BAPI's/FM's that can be called from an external system (non-sap system) through RFC which will open a document which is stored in SAP DMS.

Hi Madan,
If you want to view documents from an external system, there are many ways of achieving this.
It depends on the solution that you are approaching.
Few methods that I have come across are, OData services, Custom RFC Function Modules, to retrieve document attachments.
FTP is also a possible solution.

although i ran GBX6 under 10.5.8, i do believe an intel processor is required. that means that the only complete solution would be a new computer, i'm afraid.
the best you could do is export each track as an audio file from GBi and drop them into your GBX project

I need and advice on reading a large file using JSP. I need to read a text file which contains around 2 millions records (lines). Also some times I need to find a specific line from that.
I have to make a small web application to generate reports on the Text files after parsing those into a database (Oracle or MySQL). I have already a small similar application which based on PHP / MySQL. But still time consumption issue is there while parsing the text file into Database.
How will it be improve if I go for Tomcat / Oracle / Java Web Component Development?

Try changing your approach - don't read it into an array, process it one line at a time. Obviously any approach where you have the whole file in memory is going to exceed memory at some size of the file.

How can I view an AI file created on a MAC on a PC without corrupting the original fonts? An AI file was created with an image and text on a MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, the text fonts were not the same as originally created. Also, the same AI file was saved to PDF on the MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, there wasn't anything visible. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using the save version of Illustrator on both Mac and PC? If so, and you have the same fonts installed on both machines you should be able to open it without any problems. You may need to tell it which fonts to assign, they are not always named the same. If you don't need to edit the text, you could convert the text to outline and eliminate the need for fonts.
