Reader for 3 1/2 in floppy (Sony)

I have Sony MFD-2DD floppies that I need to get data from onto my Mac Pro (OS 10.9.4). I bought the Sabrent reader and it works with other brands of floppies, but not the Sony. (Sabrent advised that Sonys sometimes will read if you jiggle the eject button and catch the floppy part way in, but I couldn't make that work.) Has anyone else had luck with reading data from Sony floppies?

The only readers that can read Mac 800K (2DD) format floppies shipped inside beige Macs such as the PowerMac G3.
The Sony drive used a variable-speed motor, that no other manufacturer decided to sell.
Mac 1.4MB (2HD) floppies used the same format as everyone else, so those can be read by any USB floppy drive.
Regarding that little "trick" they told you about: I have never heard such a load of BS in my life.

I find it odd that you are not able to open hyperlinks as well. I have tested and confirmed that clicking on a hyperlink from a book does launch my default web browser on my PC. Can you confirm the version of Reader for PC you are running and the book details for which book that is giving you an issue please.
Direction for Reader for PC version:

Press HELP in the top left
Choose ABOUT READER
The version information will be display in the top right area.

Adobe reader for PC using Sony PRS T3--Can not sign in/read books

I bought a Sony PRS T3 that uses Adobe reader for PC(Available from https://ebookstore.sony.com/download)to download pdf books. First to set it up, I installed the software and plugged in the reader. Then I was presented with this screen. Remember I have signed up for two accounts--One sony's e reader store and one adobe account. First I use the sony reader store account as asked:
I use my own email obviously, and then I am presented with a second screen on top of the existing log in screen. I use my Adobe Account here:
After that, I am looped by the same pop up again and again and this keeps on happening despite me putting the right password AND checking the credentials to see if they work on adobe's site(yes they do). I am presented with no errors, just that login pop up again and again:
Please help me solve this problem and the sad part is I am already past the 30 day refund period and I opened the reader today. Thanks in advance.

This is the view of myself and many others... from what I am reading on the forums this app sucks... is horrid... does not work.
I used the Reader Library app since I got my ebook from sony over a year ago never had real bad issures with it till now.. I look for updates and find this one only to have it hang my computer for such long periods of time... i have a quad core desktop with fairly new hardrives and lots of memory , in fact we use it to online game with heavy user apps..
I try to use this new Reader app and it has to be the worst i have tried .. i even tried a few others when i started having such problems with your app. Others run fine. but can not read my DRM books.. truly sad..
Whoever wrote this needs a new job.. never writing software again.
this sounds harsh but you are running away customers ... big time.
or do you think you will keep them cause of your name... Nope.. people will mover to what ever is easiest to use. this is not supposed to be diffucult.. but your company is making it so.
REmember .. KISS is the base of all systems that work and advance.
your original Reader Library program did that it worked and you didn't need a degree to run it.
Someone in your company does need to get this info and get a soultion or you will loose more customers.. I will not recomend this product at this time or until you get it right. I have promoted your products in the past 20+ yrs. but if this is how you treat loyalty for get us.

Tips for working with USB floppy drives

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on working with USB floppy drives in Archlinux.
One thing I've noticed is that trying to use mkfs.msdos on my USB floppy drive directly doesn't seem to result in a usable disk (it's mountable, but reports that I don't have enough space available to copy files), but if I use the command on an image file the same size as a floppy disk and then use dd to copy the blank image to my USB drive I get a disk that's perfectly usable. Anybody know what the deal is with that or how I might be able to successfully format a disk in fewer steps (other than keeping the blank images around and just using dd to format the floppies, haha)?
Also, I'd like to hear any other tips or tricks any of you have for working with USB floppy drives. They just seem so much more usable under Windows as opposed to Linux, and that disappoints me a little.

I would assume this happens because (as far as I can tell from skimming through the source over the course of a few minutes) mkfs.fat only applies floppy size heuristics to fd and lo devices -- your USB floppy drive is treated as a hard drive, and that leads to less-than-ideal default parameters. fsck.fat -v
on the more spacious filesystem to figure out what options need to be set when you attempt formatting an actual disk. Or just make things easier by keeping newly-formatted blank disk images on hand so that dd and (maybe) ufiformat are all you need to worry about.

No data read for fiscal year 2011

In ECC6, after posting document in FI, I wan to check balances with T-Code FS10N and Enter GL account in which document entry supposed to be recorded. But when I execute it getting message in Information window " NO data read for fiscal year 2011 (Long text)
what does it mean? Appreciated explanation

Thanks for the prompt reply. The interesting thing is that my Macbook Pro was upgraded today to Yosemite and I still have the spinning wheel on the start up screen before the login page comes up.

Reader for PC

I have the PRS-650, and had to reformat my computer, so had to download the new Reader for PC, when I did this I had all kinds of problems and headaces, I called sony was on the phone for over 2 hours for them to fix it so I could install all my books, (have over 5,000 books), they said I needed to download the Reader Library again, but problem with that is it will not work with the new PRS-T1.
So I purchased the PRS-T1 last week and was trying to install my books onto it and guess what, it will not take my books, the Reader for PC cannot handle that amount of books I have, I mean really, you make a new library and you make it smaller, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't buy a new reader to purchase less books, but to get more books, I have been on the phone with sony for 5 days now everyday, and they can't fix the problem, the system just gets overwhelmed, I mean I can put in 1200 books but after that none, and I have tried ever different way, SONY NEEDS TO FIX THIS ASAP. I can't even load the PRS-T1 with my Reader Library, because I use the micro SD card and not the reader, I was told I could load the reader this way, but it will not put in my collections so it is no good to me right now, I have the reader but can't use it, that sucks big time.
Sony has let me down big time, need to fix READER FOR PC NOW.

I have been working on how to install my books into the PRS-T1, and I have found a way. You will need a Micro SD card. You open the Reader Library, not the Reader for PC, when the Reader Library opens and you hook up your PRS-T1 you can drag and drop your books into the SD card the comes, up if you have them in a collection you can transfer the collection but the PRS-T1 will not put them in the collections, but I have also found a way to solve this problem also, It will take some time, but you will have all your books on the PRS-T1.
First after you install the books onto the SD card, if you have them in collections install one collection at a time. You will then need to make sure they are download on the SD card, I started with my largest collection first, you will need to open the books folder on your PRS- T1 and make sure each page downloads the books after this is done you go to collections, at the top right you will see a books with a small + click on this, this will give you a new collection write in it what you want to call the collection, then it will ask you where you want this collection installed you can say on the SD card or the Reader, (I will tell you it is better to install on the SD card this way if there is a problem with the reader you can just transfer the SD card to another reader and not have to reinstall everything.) now you can click on the collection then at the bottom of the reader on the right side you will see the 4 lines under the sony sign click on this it will show add content click on this it will take you to the books you have installed on the SD card, then just click on the books you want in this collection. I should tell you if you are like me you sometimes have the same book in a few collections, when you are downloading the collection from the Reader Library it will not reinstall the same book twice, inless you have the same book twice in your books. As you install the books from the Readers Library, it will download them into the ereader the way you download them, but you must disconnect each time from the computer with each collection. This is only if you have alot of books, otherwise I think the Reader for PC will work for you, for me it does not work at all. You can also delete books from your ereader too.

Reader for PC Horrible Application

Reader for PC application is the worst that I have ever run across in some 33 years in the IT business. I had worked quite nicely with the Reader Library app since I purchased my PRS-500 when it was 1st available. Huge mistake installing the Reader for PC app. It immediately, without my permission, loaded my Reader with all the books & publications in my PC library, maxing out its capacity. Couldn't use Reader Library to delete the unwanted files as they had been marked as sync files. Went back to Reader for PC app to uncheck all categories as do not sync, whereupon the app deleted all files from my Reader, including the books I was reading. Using Reader Library to transfer all the books & publications I was reading back to the Reader, resetting bookmarks. Later on, even though I had unchecked all the sync categories, upon connecting my Reader, the Reader for PC app launched, redownloaded all books & publications, maxing out the Reader capacity again. Had to uncheck sync again, upon which all files were deleted from my Reader again. With deep anger I deleted the Reader for PC app from my PC. I've never run across a user app that ignores commands from the user to continue to change a device's files. Horrible horrible app & really destroys any confidence I had in Sony, the Reader & other Sony products even though I have been a loyal Sony customer for 20 years.

Reader for PC Does Not Close

When I exit Reader for PC it does not close completely, causing an error when I try to "safely remove hardware".
I have to use Task Manager to close the process; the application is not shown as running.
I believe this has happened only since the recent software update. Is there a way to get the previous version?
ETA:
This only happens if the the reader (T1) is connected. Software closes properly otherwise.

Equalizer Option on Reader for PC Software

I love using Reader for PC Software to read my books. I really liked audio menu when I first found, too. But lack of equalizer makes it bad. I love listening music with bass boost while reading books. Can you please add equalizer in future releases?

Reader for tablet

Can't move books from reader for PC to tablet. The reader for PC doesn't show tablet when connected by usb as my sony reader does.

To be able to read your purchased books on the tablet, first you must set up and register the reader app to your bookstore account.

Once you have registered your tablet at the Sony Bookstore to transfer any book you have previously purchased, open the reader App, then tap the Store tab along the top right and it will prompt you to open your WWW browser, once opened follow these instructions to download your previously purchased books.

Unhappy with Reader for PC Software

I agree 100% with the previous posts. Reader PC is simply the worst app I've ever come across. I just purchased two PRS-T1 Readers and have spent many hours now trying to manage audio files, with no success.
In addition, the operation of the audio app is very poor. A $10 MP3 player outperforms this unit by a long shot. When you set the unit to "shuffle" it shuffles only within the album, not the whole library. This alone renders the audio part of this unit useless.
Come on Sony. Get this fixed fast. I will never recommend this product until a thorough fix is in.

Gosh... I wish I'd read this before purchasing my PRS-T1. USER-978426 is being way to kind. This may be the worst software ever created. These reviews should be posted on Amazon, where they are more findable, as well as here.
If you are considering a purchase, run, don't walk from this device. The reader works fine. The Sony "Reader for PC" software is an abomination, as is Sony tech support for this product. I have owned the reader for about 7 months and it has consistently produced errors: "Internal Server Error -40322 (413)"... how helpful is that... when the device is plugged into my PC. At other times it just hangs or crashes. I have spent hours on the phone with their tech support trying to resolve the problem, to no avail. I let one of Sony's tech support people remote in to my PC to fix the problem... he couldn't fix it but, in the process of trying, he wiped out a book with about 40 hours of notes, highlights, cross references, etc. that I had prepared for a class. Yesterday I spent several more hours with Sony Tech Support trying to solve the sync problem. He had me remove all the books from my Sony "Reader for PC" library. When I plugged my reader back in today, it wiped out ALL the remaining books, including notes, highlights, etc., on my reader... totally without warning or any action on my part. No "You are about to delete... do you want to continue" message. Well over a hundred hours of work down the drain. When I called Tech support this morning all they could say was "I apologize, your work is not recoverable." To add insult to injury, after removing all my books and notes from my reader, the PC software once again said "Internal Server Error -40322 (413)"
I paid more for this reader because I felt it was worth it to get the best... what I got was the worst. This is literally the worst product experience I have ever had. Sony... what happened to ya?
