Reader in Mavericks not showing in Yosemite

In Mavericks, when I went to web sites, most of the time in the address bar on the right side, there was a blue box with the word "READER" in it. When i clicked on the word, the web page would change and only the article would appear. All the advertising and other useless info was gone. It was easy to read, good formatting etc and if I wanted to save the article, just went to "File-Export as PDF" and then I could save it on my hard drive where ever I wanted. Updated to Yosemite yesterday and now I don't have this option. Can someone tell me how to get this working in Yosemite. Thanks. Gordon

If the page contains something the reader can display, then you will see parallel horizontal lines in the URL bar as shown at the left here. Click these lines to get the reader.

OS X Mavericks not showing up in boot menu?

Hi,
I recently applied to the OS X Yosemite Beta program and downloaded and installed the Beta. I have a 1TB Hard drive in my MacBook Pro which is was partitioned in two partitions, one for OS X Mavericks and one for Bootcamp. I decided I wanted to keep my original partitions intact so I installed the Yosemite beta onto an external hard drive so I wouldn't affect my main system. The Yosemite Beta installed and booted fine from the external hard drive but when I rebooted my computer I was presented with option to boot into my Bootcamp partition or an OS X Yosemite Installer. I can boot into Windows fine but not OS X Mavericks. The OS X Mavericks partition is still intact but does not show up during start up. I tried using a third-party bootloader like rEFIt but doesn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, I managed to solve my problem by forcibly unmounting the install partition and booting into Bootcamp (My only option). From there I selected my OS X Mavericks partition from the Bootcamp menu in Windows and I rebooted successfully into it. For some reason it still wont show up in the boot menu but rEFIt now works and will detect it along with the Bootcamp partition

Direct Path Read waits are not showing in Elapsed time

I'm having a question regarding interpretation of a SQL trace file. I'm on Oracle 11.2.0.1 HP/UX 64 bit.
Following is only the overall result of the trace (it is quite big).
My question is about the Direct Path Read waits which are totallizing 268s of wait but are not showing in the fetch elapsed time (49.58s) and are not showing anywhere in the trace except in the overall result.
I do not understand why it is not part of the Elapsed time...
For info, the trace is for the specific session that was performing all the required queries to display an online report. The database is accessed by the Java application using Hybernate.
The trace was obtained by the following SQL:

If you have My Oracle Support access you can also try Oracle's own extended Trace Analyzer (TRCA / TRCANLZR). See MOS Note 224270.1
Check if these tools tell you more about your specific wait event and oddities with the trace file in general.

Adobe reader printer list not showing

while printing the PDF File, windows printers are not showing in the printer list. Where as windows printers are working in Word/Wordpad/notepad.

The printer I need is not in the list.
It works fine for everything else, It is directly plugged into my computer, it shows in the services box as a printer I have.
When I go to print, its not there.....
I have 3 others, they are there. But I need a bigger 11x17 paper so I print to a different printer.
It will not let me make it my default ? So cant try that.
I have used the Adobe removal tool and reinstalled with no luck
Any thoughts ??

Adobe Reader X is not showing barcode font

Hi there,
I'm generating a pdf with a GS1-128 barcode with IDAutomation fonts.
I noticed that Adobe Reader X does not display this font.
Previous version do!
I attach an example: the font should be visible in the appropriate box present on the second page. http://www.ingmezzina.it/pdf_no_barcode.pdf
Is there any solution to this problem?

I'm having a similar problem, everytime I launch reader or if I try to open a PDF it crashes on my winxp sp3 PC with a visual c++ runtime error and closes. I can't even get to any preferences or anything in time.

Mavericks not showing up in Purchases tab

For some reason, whenever I download Mavericks (which has been multiple times), it doesn't show up in my purchases tab. It simply says that I haven't yet bought any apps. Is there a reason for this, or does it even matter? I'd like it to show up just so I can see how much has actually downloaded.

If you've downloaded it multiple times, then don't you know you've downloaded it multiple times?
When you are downloading it, there is a progress bar under the applications folder in the dock that gives a rough idea of how much has downloaded. I'm not sure what else you want to know.
You are correct, though: once it's been downloaded and installed, it disappears from the list in the App Store.
Option-click used to reveal things in the purchases tab that were hidden,but this doesn't seem to work at the moment.
I suspect it has something to do with the millions of Apple nerds who are all trying to download Mavericks at the same time tonight. Maybe this is an attempt by the head Geniuses to limit the number of download attempts.

Reader bookmarks does not show chapter names on iPad 3

HI,
When I open a PDF ebook in Adobe reader on iPad 3 and try to see the table of contents by clicking the bookmarks icon in the bottom right. It only shows "chapter1", "chapter2" etc and not the chapter titles. When I open the same PDF on my iphone 4S with Adobe reader, it displays "Chapter1 - chapter title". This is very useful for navigation. Can some one from Adobe please fix this bug for iPad 3. I use iOS 7.1.2 and using the latest version of Adobe reader on iPad 3.

I opened one of my PDF documents with bookmarks in the latest version of Adobe Reader for iOS version 11.3.2.

Each bookmark title may be truncated (with '...') differently (or not truncated at all) depending on your iOS device's orientation and screen resolution. But some text (e.g. " - chapter title") should not be completely hidden.

Network time machine backup not showing on Yosemite

Hi,
One of the people within the office is having a problem with their Time machine backups. The password had been changed on the computer where the hard drive is shared but they where not concerned with their backups as they are using a Macbook so they back up at home and we also use a time capsule as a backup backup drive incase the main drive has stopped for some reason.
Now they are wanting to use the main drive to back up to and I can not seem to find the drive in time machine but when I connect to the computer where the drive is attached to I can gain access to the drive but Time machine can not find it.
The host computer is running Mavericks and the computer that is having problems is using Yosemite Beta could this be why time machine is having trouble trying to find it?
The drive in question is a SmartStor DS4600 6TB no one else is having problems backing up to it, they are using Mavericks.

USB card reader working, but not showing up in removable media... why?

For some reason lately, my USB mounts, but doesn't show up in the Finder left-hand area with the other removable media, such as DVDs. I have to access it via My Computer, where it does show up. And I have to eject it in Disk Utility.
It does show up normally in iPhoto.
Any idea why this might happen?

Sony e reader prs 600 not showing in bookmark pane on my new Mac with Snow Leopard

I have a brand new sony e reader prs 600 it is supported but I am unable to see it on the bookmark pane in my new Mac with Snow Leopard is it something to do with Snow leopard? Or why can I not see my sony e reader? thank you

According to the Adobe website ADE 1.7.1 is compatible with Mac if you
look at system requirements and with the Sony reader if you look at
supported devices. Though it doesn't mention Macs latest O/S.
and if I download an Adobe digital editions book, can I then move it

Photostream w/ Maverick -- Not showing as an option.

I downloaded os X Mavericks and Photostream isn't an option. I had Snow Leporad prior to downloading Mavericks. Do I need to download another operating system to be able to access photo streaming (i.e. Mountian Lion) ? and if so, will I then need to re-download Mavericks?

System Preferences / iCloud
Sign in and turn on Photo Stream.
You also need iPhoto version 9, or higher and an iOS device or Apple TV to view the streamed (pushed) files.

Maverick not showing Time Capsule in Finder

Finder lost AirPort Time Capsule in Device.
WiFi is working.
Time Machine is working
Tried erasing \library\preferences\com.apple.finder.plists also no effect.

Read mail is not showing on iphone

I read my mail on my macbook, then open my iphone and the mail is still marked unread. The same is happening with my ipad. I have tried mailbox>syncronize all accounts & selected each mailbox and synced them. No luck. It must be some setting issue?

As for your mail issue, are you using a POP account by any chance? The POP protocol doesn't have a way to mark messages as read on the server, and save that. If your email provider supports IMAP, that would allow for messages to be marked as read on the server.

Dv9000 laptop dvd drive and webcam not found. drive initializes on boot but does not show up.

The DVD/CD-Rom drive will initialize and will read a CD when inserted but it does not show up in the BIOS or in Windows. It's a Lighscribe drive. The webcam was not found either. I recently reloaded this machine for a friend back to the factory setup. Installed all additional software and everything is working but the drive and the camera. Is there any way to actually test these devices for failure? Or is there a patch or a software package I may be missing? It's a dv9000 but it has dv9007 on the bottom. And an AMD processor. If anybody has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help.

It does not show up in either one. The camera or the DVD drive. No X's or error Triangles. I guess they could have gone bad at the same time but that's not likely. It would be one heck of a coiencidence. I am wondering if there is an alternate chipset driver or patch. Maybe a controller driver? The system has dv9000 on the display and dv9700 on the model # tag. I believe 1 is Inter and the other NVidia. But the Factory image installed the NVidia drivers.

Adobe Reader XI can not identify letters in Myriad style

Adobe Reader XI can not show any word (blank nothing) if the letters edited in Myriad style then you convert it into PDF file.

I tried downloading WPS but its all in Chinese. Let me try with the English installer for WPS.
As this is working with with MS word, it means that this is something to do with conversion engine of WPS.
With MS word, when you try to convert the .doc file to PDF, using File - Save as - PDF, it uses Microsoft's conversion engine, which is converting the doc file to PDF with the fonts.
I will recommend you to download Adobe Acrobat XI as a trial and then use Adobe Acrobat to convert the .doc file in PDF.
