Reader installation fails

I have a 32 bit windows Vista system and am unable to install the free reader. It all started when once installed, I could not print a pdf file. I could print from word and the page displayed about Reader. I have tried to install several times and get different error msgs. The msg I am now getting is that the"Destination something" must be on a portable device, install the disc with the file.
The error msg I was getting before said the resource was not available due to network availability or something like that.
I have even tried to use the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility to remove any Adobe file that was not removed via the control panel "add/remove progams" site.
I have Regcure registry "cleaner" installed, AVG free anti virus, and Zone alarm installed. I had the same problems trying to install the Reader when I had the Norton suite of anti-virus,firewall installed.
I have had Acrobat installed for years on my old XP windows, and this Vista machine without problems.I may be wrong but it appears to be a compatibility issue between Vista and the reader. I can not get help from Adobe because apparently, and I may be wrong, because this is a free product I am limited to using this forum for help.
If I am wrong about this please tell me how Ican resolve my problem becaus e I deal with a lot of PDF docs in my job. I also have Office 2007 installed which prints word docs w/out any problems.
Thanks for listening...
Robert

Sorry, it is very unclear what your actual problem/error is.
*is Adobe Reader actually installed?
*what version?
Remove it with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, then download and install it from one of these locations

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US_Std.exe (Reader 9 without Adobe AIR)

  • Adobe Application Manager: Installation Failed

    Hello, my name is Keem.
I just signed up for creative cloud as a student.  I installed the Adobe Application Manager, which from what I hear is what allows you to install the software's onto your computer..  Now, whenever I try to install one of the applications, for example; Adobe Premiere, it gives me an orange highlighted text that reads "Installation Failed".  Under the dropdown arrow for it, it reads "Administrative priveledges are required to install, please retry, or cancel to install later."
    Is this normal?
I would appreciate any help!  Thank you
    **Update
I fixed the problem and the programs seem to be installing fine, however; having had an old version of Adobe Premiere/Photoshop/After Effects, Illustrator ETC, I decided to delete them off of my computer.  The problem is though, that on my Adobe Application Manager, they say "Up to date" when they aren't even located on my hard drive anymore.  How can I fix this?

    Hi icaptureart ,
Basically you are facing two different issues . First of all , to install any of the Adobe products , we need to be logged in as the Local computer's Admin so that the required changes/modification can take place succesfully .
Second issue that you are facing where in the Adobe application manager is still saying the products are available on your system because we only moved the products to trash,we never deleted the actual products. To delete the products on your machine , i would request you to kindly navigate to Utilities>Adobe Installers and select the uninstaller from within this folder .
Please let us know if the above mentioned helps .

  • Adobe reader 11 installation fails. error message: there was an error installing adobe reader. adobe

Adobe reader 11 installation fails. error message: there was an error installing adobe reader. adobe reader installation error. null. tried using adobe cleaning  tool. using XP sp3. seems that adobe 11 is not completely uninstalling. this is because when adobe reader  11 is removed  from add/remove program. when pc is rebooted, adobe reader 11 entry comes back but it is  like false entry as no size given. please help to succesfully install Adobe Reader 11.  also tried:
    1. uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled  2. installed from different locations  3. removed adobe key from
local machine and tried to install

Seriously, I do not understand what is going on - I have never seen this before!
The MSI installers are usually used in corporate environments to roll out installs on multiple machines.  However, you can use it like a normal (EXE) installer; it will just go through fewer steps than the EXE.  Not sure if it will improve the situation, but it's worth a try.
Another thing to try is to uninstall these remaining entries using Microsoft Fixit: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall - also no guarantee, but also worth trying.

  • Photoshop CS6 Trial "Installer Failed To Initialize" on Vista. Please help I have read other posts!

I've read through countless posts on different sites and still can't find a fix to this. I've been having a hard time trying to figure out what advice actually applies to me.  After extracting all the files and I run the setup I get about 75% through before I get the Installer failed to initialize message. After looking at the PDapp data It seems clear what the problem is, but I have no idea how to fix it. The fatal/error messages are as follows:
[FATAL] Setup - Adobe Application Manager executable does not exist at the location: C:\Users\Tanner\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDApp.exe
[FATAL] Setup - Unable to launch PDApp. File missing
[ERROR] Setup - Error in deleting folder C:\Users\Tanner\AppData\Local\Adobe. Error Code:145
Please, any help would be great.

first thing to do is to re-download ps cs6 in case your dl was corrupted.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac OS 10.10:  Installation Failed error message.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac:  Installation Failed error message.  Update downloaded directly from Adobe website.  Newly purchased Mac Workbook Pro, OS 10.10, using Photoshop CS5. Other updates successfully accomplished.  Camera Raw 6.7 Update was downloaded multiple times with multiple installation attempts. Any recommendations?

thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it.  according to the link you listed, that's correct.  the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os.  seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it!  thanks again.

  • Installation fails on new Macbook Pro

I am trying to install CS3 on a new Macbook Pro Retina 13" with Mavericks. All of the CS3 apps except Photoshop installed correctly. Photoshop fails and when I try to launch it returns a message that it cannot be initialized because the disk is not available. I have tried reinstalling it and the installation fails. I tried launching the old copy from the previous computer's disk (now in USB enclosure) and I get the same error message. I tried copying it over to the new HD without success. Tried phone support and they won't help because it's an older version. CS3 is supposed to be compatible with Mavericks. Since the older copy and the new installation return the same message, I suspect (just a guess) some software issue, perhaps prefs or other files copied over from the old installation.
Can anyone help me figure out what the issue is, and how to go about installing PS successfully?
    Thanks!

Mike, that did the trick. I trashed the entire Photoshop CS3 Settings under the existing account, then created a new user and installed from there. Installation was successful. Then I went back to my existing account and it launched fine from there as well. A new Settings folder was created automatically and I'm good to go now. This was a huge relief - I was stressing. Also, I'm not sure if it's the performance of the new computer or if the prefs were the issue, but it is lightning fast now. It launches in a couple of seconds whereas on the older machine it was taking a couple of minutes. I really appreciate the help!

  • Acrobat XI Pro installation failed

    MacBook Pro 13" Retina
    OSX 10.8.5
    3 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Used Akamai NetSession Interface.
Downloaded from Adobe website. After download, clicked on installer, entered serial number, quickly went through installing until right at the end: "THE INSTALLATION FAILED: Installer encountered an error that caused installation to fail. Contact manufacturer." Part of the message cut-off abruptly.
Then, it appeared that the installation did occur but when I opened the software the interface didn't look "smooth." Then almost immediately software update stated Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.04 was available for download, but computer wouldn't allow it to be installed citing error on initial problem. I uninstalled XI Pro and tried to download again from Adobe website but the window instantly opened for Akamai and said download complete. The same problem occured when I tried to install again, with the same error message.

    Thank you Anish.
The software now appears to be working for some reason, and even though Error 1301 appeared when trying to update to Acrobat 11.0.04, it shows that I am running 11.0.04. There is something going on in there but so far so good.
