Reader Library sync issue PRS 650

i'm having fundamental problems with the current version on OSX as I did with the previous version, just different kinds of problems with the same result: My notes are not synchronized, the software crashes all the time when I try to sync, synching the reader works most of the time, synching the memory card just does not work at all. I can't believe i'm the only one with these problems (as published forum threads seem to suggest). so i'm curious to see if this will be published and answered.

Hello!
I am experience almost the same problem and also have osX. my reader program crashes when i sync. I have done everything, deleted all books, uninstalled and installed the program again. i'm having a feeling that it is a problem with the software, since i got all these problems when i made the update on the reader program. and i agree it could be a conflict with some other program, but where, and how do i fix it? until this is fixed my prs-t1 seems like useless
I have no notes, so I dont know if i would have had your problem when i sync notes. But it is possible I would have that problem too.

  • Reading list sync issue

have an iPhone 5s, iPad air, iMac and macbook air. All fully updated. I have a very odd and frustrating sync issue. Reading lists do not sync correctly. If I add something to the reading list on my phone it will sync with my iPad and vice-versa but not with the macs. The same issue with the macs. Reading list additions made on my iMac will sync with the macbook and vice-versa but not with iOS devices. Everything else syncs perfectly including bookmarks, open tabs, calendar entries, iCloud documents etc. Reading lists are the only issues. I have turned syncing on and off, deleted and recreated plists, started and restarted multiple times in various orders and even emptied my reading lists and started from scratch but nothing has helped. Has anyone any ideas?

  • Smart Card Reader 2 syncing issue - 9 digit ID

I have a phone I am trying to set up for a customer with the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader 2.  Both the phone and the card reader are running the same version of the software, as they both have the version that is installed on my desktop (5.0).  However, the card reader has a 9-digit ID name, and the BlackBerry will only accept 8-digit ID information in the selected box.  I've read online of people having this issue but haven't found a fix.  Can anyone assist me with this problem?
BB in question is a Bold 9930 on Verizon.

    Hey there,
What operating system are you currently using? Also are you receiving any error messages when trying to use the smart card reader? Have you been using only 1 smart card, or do you have a extra one handy that you could test with?
    Thanks,

I am using a PRS-650 e-reader. I download library books using Reader for PC. Now, after I click and drag the books to the reader icon, the sync feature indicates sync is in progress, but no progress is made. This renders the computer inoperable, and necessitates a re-boot.

  • PRS-650 Sync problems

I have just purchased a PRS-650 and transferred about 100 books to it from the library on my computer. When I try to sync with the library, it appears to hang.
Is there a maximum number of books that can be synced at any one time?
    Thanks

    Hi.
Before all, I want to say that I already searched in all
Sony websites to solve my problem, but I didn't
    find any answer.
So it's why I'm asking here.
I'm trying to sync books to my PRS-650.
All the books I want to sync are loaded
    in my library.
Now I want to sync them on my PRS-650 as usual
when I connect my Reader to the computer.
But now, in the schedule board, the loading is
stucked at the option that I could translate (I'm french-canadian) as "Flash Sync progressing" since one day.
I tried to cancel and sync again, same result.
I disconnected my Reader, putted it off, and reconnected my reader to the computer, same result.
I cancelled the sync, and synchronised it again, same result.
Ii is impossible to sync my books to my Reader.
My computer is running good on Window Vista, with a dual-core Toshiba Satellite computer.
And I have the latest version of the Sony Reader software, I checked it twice.

  • PRS-650 locks up library in windows 7

I bought the prs-650 in late december and had problems from the start. Sony techs tried to tell me I was too dumb to charge it properly. After about a month went by they agreed to send me a new one. They sent a refurbished model and said that I did not contact them in the first 30 days (they conveniently neglected to log my first calls) so they said they had the right to replace it with a refurb. I got a new computer with Windows 7 and now the library locks up when I connect the reader. I followed all of the steps in the help topics and they told me by email that it must be a comm issue with the reader and I need to send it back for repair. After you stuck me with a refurb when I paid $230 for a new reader you are crazy if you think I am going to send you any more money to fix this lemon you sent me. I used to be one of your best advertisers singing the praises of Sony to anyone asking which brand I suggested. After being treated this way, I no longer recommend Sony readers and before I spend another penny on this one I will buy a nook or a Kindle. A reader is useless if you can't put books on it.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry that you had an unsatisfactory customer service experience with Sony - I would now suggest that you contact Sony's Customer Relations team and have them escalate the issue:

If you require further product support I would recommend that you request the second tier of technical support.

  • Sony eReader PRS-650

not sure if this forum can help, but it's never failed me before....
New Sony eREader PRS-650. Worked like a dream for the first few days but now every time I connect it to to mac the reader library software crashes and closes, so can't transfer the eBooks. It seemed to happen after asking it to Sync. Any ideas?

    Hi Sjennings,
If your download has failed this could be caused by background running applications or security settings. To correct this issue please try the following.
Reboot your PC and re-download again from your account (remember once you have purchased an ebook you do not have topurchases it again).
If you are still getting an error, please try the following.
Close all applications running in the background. This includes exiting/disabling items running in the system tray (you can close these by right clicking and selecting exit, disable or close from the menu).
If you are trying to access the internet from a work PC or connection you may not have full access to the internet. Please check with your MIS/IT (Network Administrator) department to verify your access rights.
If you are on a dial up connection please disable any download accelerators before attempting to re-download you eBook.

  • Reader Software Sync Error

I have a reoccurring problem when syncing a reader to my library. The synch stalls at a certain book, and if I delete that book it just moves to the next one and stalls again. I had this problem first on a PRS-700 and a laptop running XP and now with a PRS-650 and a laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. I have de-installed and re-installed the latest 3.3.00.07130 program.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Here we are again.
    Reader: PRS-600
Software: Reader Library 3.3.00.07130 on Windows XP SP3
    Library: ePub (DRM, non-DRM), PDF
Long and short of it: Reader Library gets stuck syncing about halfway through. Initially the sync hung on a non-protected PDF (a magazine download). I deleted the PDF and sure enough the sync started failing on another book (non-DRM ePub). I tested all the usual suspects - Sony-provided USB cable, checked all 300 documents in the library and not one of them would not open in the software, nothing on a UNC path or removable drive. I have soft-reset the Reader, rebooted the computer, deleted all BBeB books from the library, but no luck. I have been waiting for nearly four hours in queue for a Sony chat support rep through chatsupport.sony.com, but clearly there is nobody available or willing to take the case. Using Calibre is not an option as I have about 50-60 books downloaded from Sony's store.
So...what can we do from here?

  • IPhone and Windows 7 64 Bit - syncing issues

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is able to help. I have updated to Windows 7 and am having problems syning my iPhone. It comes up with a multitude of errors but the most common is:
'The iPhone "Michael's iPhone" can not be syned. The required file can not be found.
I have restored the iPhone and after it resets, it sits at the Setup Window in iTunes for ages, then clicks over, starts syncing (it is doind that now) but also displays the error. Will be interesting to see if it actually finishes the sync and to see if the apps work on the phone.
I have also removed iTunes, Quicktime, Mobile App Supprt, Apple Software Updater, Bonjour and reinstalled and still the sync issues coninue. I also ran the diagnostic tool in iTunes on syncing and detecting the iPhone and it reports everything is ok.

  • New iPod Touch owner having syncing issues

I just got a new 8GB touch. Everytime I try to sync it, iTunes freezes. I have installed the OS update 3.1.2, backed up my library and uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes. I'm currently resetting the entire device. If that doesn't work, what else can I try?

This is a syncing issue with having 5 authorized computers. My computer crashd ans is in the shop. When I tried to authorize my laptop to transfer my playlists (and everything else) from my touch, the only option I found was to deauthorize all my computers. I now cannot figure out how to get my music library from my Touch into my laptop I-Tunes account. Every options seeems to indicate that the material on my touoch woul;d be erased. I want everything from my Touch to replace what is on my laptop. I am sure I am missing something obvious, but need help.

  • Serious Sync issues between iTunes 8.0.2 and AppleTV 2.3

    Please Help,
Everything was just wonderful until several weeks back when the AppleTV started having sync issues that seem to have degraded into oblivion. Rebooted everything, checked all software loads, tried many of the suggestions (no blocking network / firewall issues) and have even tried adding redundant port allows for any and all ports I could find going in / out of Apple TV. But to no avail there seems to be a bug that got introduced somewhere with the sync mechanisms.
The Apple TV can purchase movies, download them fast to start playing, view youtube videos just fine and play all of the media great, So can my Mac and all media / iTunes functions work well it even syncs with my iPhone / iPods well.
However... The only way I can get the AppleTV to sync is to reboot it, then it will sync some, iTunes will just get to a forever syncing with Apple TV state (which you have to stop), reboot AppleTV again, it will sync some more, until it stops, iTunes is stuck syncing forever with AppleTV again, repeat and rinse about 4 more times and you have it all synced.
If there isn't anything to sync when AppleTV boots the Sync in iTunes just spins for ever. I actually left it for 4 days just to see if it was actually doing anything. Minimal Network IO and of course it never finished.
If I stop the Sync with Apple TV in iTunes and then try to reinitiate it from iTunes I get the 3986 port error (which is bogus) unless there is some hidden setting somewhere in the OS that I can't find. And if there was a problem then why would it start and run when I boot the Apple TV.
It just seems that all of a sudden things started going wrong with Sync with no real change other than 'software updates' .
The only thing I haven't tried is to do a factory reset on the AppleTV which from what I have read doesn't really solve anything.
So, please someone from Apple or someone with some detailed technical experience provide some guidance on whether there is a bug that got introduced, version issues between iTunes/AppleTV, or something else going that I haven't been able to figure out over the last 2 weeks.
The only other unique things that may be different is that I have my iTunes library on an external drive (not on the internal drive). Does this many any difference?
Thank You in advance to anyone that can help me get to the bottom of these issues. This started happening when I was totally sold on AppleTV and about to buy a second one.
    mmilford

And it's good to know I'm not the only one with the problem too! I just cannot sync stuff from Mac to Apple TV without it locking up. It actually seems to lock the wifi also, meaning I have to quit iTunes, turn off the wifi and then turn it back on again. But as soon as I open iTunes, the same problem again...
I've tried everything I can think of, searched all help articles, but cannot sort out this somewhat annoying problem.

  • Myriad iTunes sync issues - song cutoffs - artwork problems - yeech!

    Hi all,
I’m running the latest version of iTunes on a (late 2013) Macbook Pro Retina laptop, and having several different flavors of syncing issues with my two devices –  a 16 gb iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1, and a 32 gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen running iOS 5.1.1.
As best I can tell, some syncing issues such as one of the ones I am experiencing (songs chopped-off when transferred and attempted to playback from the device) have existed in some way, shape or form for nearly 10 years now, so I’m not expecting any grand revelations here - but just looking for some honest advice on how to resolve in the shortest amount of time & with the least pain considering I have a fairly large music library in terms of syncing time required.  That being said, below bulleted-out are my current issues / frustrations / thoughts on where the problems may lie.   I would appreciate any advice:
Purchased iTunes songs (ripped MP3’s from CD’s that I own and tracks from other sources do not seem to have the problem…) play fine in iTunes on my laptop, but when transferred to either my iPhone or iPod, they will randomly (it’s not every track) be cutoff near the end of the song.  Sometimes the song will stop with 2 minutes remaining and go silent. Sometimes it will stop with 15 seconds remaining and go silent.  Sometimes it will stop somewhere in that time range and start the next track on the album while still displaying the info from the previous track.  The only solution I have found to this for purchased content thus far is to wipe everything out, and go back and download the tracks from the cloud.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 tracks that fall into this category, so my options to download directly to the device an artist at a time are kind of time-consuming and cumbersome.  Would this have something to do with the file format of purchased tracks vs. ripped ones? I have a lot of older ripped material that was imported as MP3’s or MP3’s converted to M4A’s that never seems to have this problem.  The newer purchased files are mostly ACC’s which DO have the problem.   Also would this have anything to do with the fact that my library (including most of the purchased content) was recently moved over and imported to a new Macbook from a Windows backup?  Most of my iTunes library was Windows / PC for the majority of its existence for the past decade or so; we only recently switched back to Mac.
Discrepancies between deleting material on a device vs. what iTunes recognizes when it is plugged back in:  The other day, being frustrated with the random song chopping, I deleted everything on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by going into Settings, Options, General, and “Usage” and then “Edit” and selecting to wipe out everything in iTunes. The device appeared to do this, and I was showing 28 gb or so free out of 32 once it completed.  Great, right?  I proceeded the rest of that day to painstakingly download approx. 900 tracks from the cloud onto the device, hoping to correct the chopping issue.  It did this, and I still had roughly 10 gb free. Great, right?  Later that night when I plugged the iPod into my Macbook with the 30 pin to sync, iTunes on the laptop for some reason still recognized the songs which I thought I had deleted hours earlier and showed me multiple copies of everything.  For the ones that had been deleted, when I clicked to play them on the iPod through iTunes, I got the little gray exclamation point - ! – in a circle like when a track has moved libraries and cannot be found.  iTunes then told me my sync could not be completed due to being over capacity on the device by a ridiculous 12 gb or something like that. Huh?? I could have gone through and manually deleted the (by that point more than 1000) duplicate tracks and synced to have made room I suppose – but after accidentally hitting Autofill – iTunes threw up its hands and would not let me do anything further.  Any attempts at that point to delete either pending Autofill tracks or missing duplicate tracks just led to endless spinning on the “Preparing Update” notice on the device which led to me having to kill iTunes.  Can you say big-time frustration?  I eventually opted to restore the iPod to factory (iOS 5.1.1) settings and start over.  That device is currently at home slogging through the process of attempting to re-download 400 some songs from the cloud over wi-fi so that I can avoid the cutoff track problem.  The plan after that is to sync playlists for certain artists over top of the purchased tracks so that my ripped tracks can merge with them to round out the playlist. Do you see how this is beginning to become a marathon?
Last but not least - it seems to be just since the last few iTunes upgrades for Mac, but I’m having a huge problem suddenly with album artwork staying synced properly. After one recent manual transfer session (30 pin between the iPhone and the Macbook) roughly half of the tracks I transferred had mismatched artwork.  Doing this through the cloud (downloading tracks “Not on this iPhone” via the iTunes app) doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but of course this takes longer. Also, what is the deal with “Show All Music” in iOS 7 and playing tracks from the cloud?  This is a really cool feature that allows you to save a ton of disk space on your device, but I have found that when I do this that many tracks have mismatched artwork.  For example right now I’m listening to a Grateful Dead song that is displaying Genesis artwork.  Huh?? Artwork is less of a big deal than the track lengths being chopped off, but it’s still annoying.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry and on the whole has been fantastic.  But it seems as if lately, little irritating problems like the syncing issues are becoming more and not less prevalent, and the problem is they aren't being dealt with.  I got my first Mac in college nearly 20 years ago now, and have been generally entrhalled with Apple products ever since.  But I have to say that this kind of junk lately is more what I would expect in the vein of problems from the shoddy-PC world that seem to linger and never get fixed.  Cupertino folks - what's the deal???

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!
