Reader not recognizing form fields

I have created a form with extended rights using Adobe Acrobat X. Everyone using Acrobate Pro X can use the form with no problems; however, a user who has Reader XI is unable to access the form fields. Any idea what may be wrong? The form was emailed to this individual who saved it to their desktop to open and complete.

Is the preferences for Reader set to open all PDFs in the PDF/A mode?

  • PayPal Purchase Field Not Recognizing Form Field

    Hello,
I have a form with a yes/no question. If they answer yes, they will need to pay $20. If they answer no, no payment should be added. All other yes/no questions on my form have appeared as Purchase Fields within "Collect Payments" section under the "Options" menu, but these questions, which are at the end of the form, do not appear.
I have 7 purchase fields that are working correctly. Could it be a max number of purchase fields allowed?

If you mean the fields "Attendee x plans to attend the Churchill Downs event ($20)", I do see them in the available purchase field list. Please see the fields circled in red in the attached screenshot. Actually, you have already chosen the Yes option of those fields as purchase fields (see the last 4 items in Options->Collect Payments->Purchase Fields), so only "No" choices of them are listed.
The other yes/no fields "Attendee x plans to attend the opening reception" are also listed. I have circled them in blue in the screenshot.
Please let me know if you see something different. In that case, please send me a screenshot of what you see.

  • External CD reader not recognized, why?

I have a new Mac mini, which does not have a cd drive, so I attached an external cd reader. The operating system does not recognized this drive unless I restart the mini, why. My old mac mini had no problem recognizing that external cd drive. Is this a "feature" of the mountain lion operating system, or some fault of the computer?

I'm new to this forum, so I don't know where that comment was posted.
To the point, I was trying to load a new program into my computer from a CD. Since the new mac mini's don't have internal CD readers, I attached an external one via the UBS port. Upon inserting the CD with the program on I wanted to load, the CD reader light came on for a couple of seconds as the reader started, than nothing. I decided to restart the computer, at which point, the drive was recongized and was able to load the program on the CD. I just tested this again, and the CD reading is being recognized by the computer now.
So, that brings up my next question, does the operating system need to "learn" about each new attachment? I'm having a similar program with a printer. I didn't have this issue with my prior mac mini and OS X (v. 10.7...).
Being new to Mountain Lion, I guess I have a lot to learn. As a long time user of Mac's, I thought I knew it all...

  • Be able to Read Out Loud text, not just form fields

I am trying to develop an accessible form that has at its end the following statement:
"I hereby certify that all statements on this application are true and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that false statements on pre-employment materials constitute fraud in securing employment and is basis for dismissal."
This statement needs to be able to be Read Out Loud by a Screen Reader.
I started outlining the form in Microsoft Word and then brought it into LiveCycle. The PDF Structure shows the text but the Hierarchy does not. From my experiments, only the Hierarchy is Read by a Screen Reader.
    So,
    1) How to make the certification be read out loud?
    2) How to alert users of Screen Readers that there also is a Signature line to fill out? They need to sign and date the form.
Thanks for any help you may give. BTW, I am using LiveCycle 8.

In Designer you can indicate what needs to be read for specific fields. Under the Window menu there is an Accessability palette that needs to be enabled. Once this is done you can enter Custom screen Reader text to be read. I woudl attach this to the last field on the form.

  • Adobe Reader 9 Editible Form Field Font Color

I seem to be having a problem (or what I believe to be a problem) with Adobe Reader 9 when filling out PDF editible forms. On screen I enter data into the editible field and the font color is black but when I print the form, the editible field data prints in green. I don't remember this being the case with prior versions of Reader so I'm wondering if this is new and is there a way to return the text printed text color to the correct font color? Any help would be appreciated.

    George,
Thanks for the reply. Although I have a third party PDF Editing tool I have tried this with other PDF editable forms and they all seem to be exhibiting the same behavior. For example I went out on the internet tonight and found a UCSB Order Form on http://www.grafikart.com/order/ucsb.htm. When I open this form and type in text the displayed text is always black but when I print the form the entered text is always dark green. Note that I contacted my third party PDF editor tool about the problem they suggested that I run the unedited form thru their software and set all existing fields to be editable and then re-save the form after insuring that the text color for the editable fields was black. I did all that and again, the color of displayed text is still dark green. Note that when I'm talking about the text being green I want you to understand that the form itself prints in black text however any text that I enter into the form always prints dark green.

  • SD Card Reader Not Recognizing in i7

    Hello,
We got our MBP last fall(2.66 i7) and another one last summer(2.53 i5) and just recently began using SD cards for video.
We can take an SD card right out of the camera and insert it into the i5's reader and it functions without a hitch.
When we try the same thing with the i7, nothing happens whatsoever. No drive on the desktop, in the finder, nothing in disk utility.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

This is now a known issue, and I have sent my mackbook pro 13" i7 back into engineering for evaluation (EFFA). Hopefully they will come up with a fx sooner than later. Appears to be a compatibilty issue with Sandisk Extreme Pro 45MB/S SDHC cards (Class 10 as I recall). I purchased a new macbook pro 13" i7 a few days ago, and found that the card reader did not recognize the above referenced card. The reader did recognize the 30MB/S Sandisk card (both 8GB), and the most recently "retired" macbook pros recognized both cards, as do the current iMacs.
They had me EFFA back the machine, and provided me with a new one. I tested the new one right out of the box and it worked fine, but after Migration, it no longer worked. Restoring using the included disk back to factory specs DID NOT restore the ability to read the card.
In checking random machines at the apple store, only 1 on the entire floor recognized that a card was inserted, when I tried the Sandisk SDHC Extreme Pro 8GB 45MB/S card.
Whatever the issue, it is rather odd that it seemed to have been ported over during Migration, but was not "fixed" after wiping and reformatting the HD using the supplied disk.
As it appeared that my machine will be the first to have been EFFA'd, as they now have it, we can hope they come up with a fix soon.
It does not appear to be hardware related, according to Apple Techs I am communicating with, so pushing on the card and other such things are probably not a good idea, and should be avoided.
Interestingly enough, with the first machine I had, a workaround was possible by restarting the machine with the card already inserted, however, unfortunately, that workaround does nopt work with my current "defective" machine.
    I have also advised Sandisk.
    Hope this helps......

  • Motorola SD Card Reader not Recognized

Trying to use a Motorola SD Card Reader that came with a cell phone on a white Macbook (OS X 10.5.6). OS X doesn't recognize the reader itself or two different SD Cards I've tried on the the thing. Formatting for both cards was done in OS, and both can be recognized via a USB HP printer with a built in card reader.
Interesting to note: When the card reader is plugged into a USB port, and a card inserted into the reader, the on-board LED lights up.
The SD Card reader's model number is printed as: SYN1114A
Any help or suggestions would be great. Thank you.

I can't find anything on this specific reader save a few sales pages. Motorola doesn't seem.
However - the reviews I read on it noted that it isn't SDHC compatible, so any SDHC card (would be larger than 2 GB) won't work on it.
Have you checked System Profiler to see if it shows up in the USB tree?

  • Zio! USB Compact Flash Reader not recognized

I have a Zio! USB compact flash reader that works perfectly on my Cube and my wife's iMac (17" gooseneck), both running 10.4.9. However, my new MacBook 2.16 doesn't recognize it at all. The indicator light on the Zio! does light up, so I know it is at least getting power. Oh, and for the record, the MacBook is running on AC so I know it's not a batter power question.
The MacBook does recognize a Kodak camera hooked via USB and also recognizes a Logitech USB trackball that I have.
Zio! was acquired by Sandisc in 2005 and their website is no help. Also, the Zio! didn't come with a driver, it was always recognized immediately by iPhoto (which by the way, I'm running 6.0.6 and our other Macs are using an older version. Could it be that the newer iPhoto doesn't recognize this reader anymore?

I am not sure if I should start a new thread, but this is related...
I have an ULTRA 4G FlyDrive (which I LOVE and highly recommend, if anyone is looking/I DON'T recommend SanDisk Cruzers for Mac). Up until yesterday, it has worked with my MacBook without incident from Day 1 (didn't even need to be reformatted!) Suddenly it is not being recognized.
It does not seem to need a driver, and like your company's website, the ULTRA website is no help.
One suggestion someone offered was that the USB needed to be powered (or something like that). I still don't know what that means.
    Any other ideas?

  • ACR122U smart card reader not recognized after reboot...

I am new to POS Windows and have been working with wondows for ever. I was using ACR 122u contactless usb smart card reader with windows XP and communicating with it using java with no problems. Then our I changed the OS to windows Pos ready 2009 and we found out that USB card reader has to be unplugged and plugged back in after rebooting the computer. other than the OS everything else is identicle (driver, reader, java program, ect..). Can any one tell me what could cause this problem and what I can do to solve this.
I have cheked the device manager and under USB controllers it says that it is unrecognized deivice..I tried changing the reader, changing the port and(actually the reader is pluged in to a linksys external usb hub, but changing this to a internal port did not make any difference)  tried chagning some settings in control panel.
    1. I checked the power option of the root usb hub.
    2. Changed the driver.cab to a normal driver.cab obtained from the normal xp version. Uninstall the driver and reinstall it.
So far this hasnt been working.
I hope someone could help me with this.
    ~Tharanga

After extensive tests with Win 7 Embedded and ACR122U, I can confirm the same problem. It seems that reader firmware hangs and the only way to recover is to unplug and plug again the reader. We shall repeat the tests with readers from other manufacturers.
For the tests, we use a Win7 Embedded Standard PC with an ACR122U connected. We installed and configured the ACS Monitor program to start automatically with windows. We made a small utility to restart the PC every minute and we placed it on the Startup directory.
Within the first 5-10 reboots, the reader fails and the ACS monitor program shows " No reader connected" and no reaction from the reader. If we shall unplug and plug the reader again to the USB port everything works fine again.

  • Card reader not recognizing CF in leopard on new 24" Imac.. HELP PLEASE!!

I have a new 6-in-1 card reader that my new IMac (Leopard, 24", 2.4gHz, 2gb RAM) won't fully recognize. The thing is, it recognizes it if I put an SD card in it, but not a CF card. (This is annoying because one of my cameras uses CF). The stranger thing is that if I boot XP in parallels on this IMac, XP recognizes both the SD and CF cards just fine in the reader, and the files import flawlessly. This makes me think the computer, the connection, the card, and the reader are not the problem. My Macbook also recognizes the CF card without any problems, so it's not just that the card reader isn't fully Mac compatible. Any ideas? It's super annoying and I'd rather not buy a different card reader when it seems so close to working... I can import photos through parallels and XP, but that's annoying and there should be a way to get this fancy machine to see the CF card in the reader...

Not being able to transfer photos from CF cards using my USB2 card reader, I connected my Canon D60 camera to my MacBook using the original Canon cable. The Mac doesn't see that either and there appear to be no relevant rivers on the Canon site. Is there a problem with USB2 under Leopard? Is Apple aware of or working on this?

  • Adobe Reader not recognizing the (correct) password on a password protected document

I have been opening password protected documents with Adobe Reader for months. My client just changed the password, and now, using the correct new password (I'm positive it's the correct password because I can open it on other computers, and no, my caps lock isn't on, and I've tried numerous times so it's not that I'm typing it incorrectly), Adobe is saying that the password is incorrect. Any ideas? I was thinking perhaps because I am on a Mac, or maybe because I have Adobe Reader and not the full version it isn't working... any help much appreciated!

Reader should be fine. you don't need to full version to open password protected documents and a Mac doesn't make any difference either.
Fist thing to be sure of is that it's actually Reader opening the docs and not Mac Preview (or something else).
If it is, maybe try having them assign a different password. A more simplistic one just to see if you can open it.

  • Adobe Reader not recognizing tif files

Why doesn't Adobe Reader recognize tif files?  I created a pdf portfolio using Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  I scanned a black and white document with my Canon flatbed and saved it as a tif file.  I am unable to import the tif file into the pdf portfolio and I keep getting a pop-up that adobe reader does not recognize that type of file.  Anyone else have this problem and find the solution?

  • Card reader not recognized in Windows Explorer

My Dell XPS 8500 has an internal card reader. An inserted card was always recognized as soon as it was inserted. After installing Lightroom, the inserted card is no longer  recognized by My Computer until after I start lightroom and begin the import process. I would prefer to copy my photos from the card to a chosen file on my hard drive without Lightroom's intervention. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Are you saying Windows Explorer doesn't show the card reader as a drive letter (E: or other letter), but LR does? Please take a screenshot of the LR Import screen and Windows Explorer screens as shown below. On my system the card reader appears as drive I: in both Windows Explorer and LR's Import module:

  • Safari pdf reader not recognizing page numbers

Is there a way to code a link to a pdf so that Safari will open to a particular page within the pdf rather than to the front page?

I think I've discovered the problem, but I'm no expert, so you'd have to test it or apply your knowledge to determine if I'm correct. The Adobe document I liked to says that you must use the format
A HREF="http://www.example.com/myfile.pdf#page=4" (with < and > symbols at the beginning and end to enclose the link.)
for targeted links, and that you can't use "URLS containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), then you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations."
The latter appears to be what you are doing; i.e., http://www.franciscan.edu/uploadedFiles/TopLevel/About/FactBook/FactBook.pdf#page=11
So if you were to change it to the former method, it should work.
As for testing, creating new User accounts is just like creating your own account initially: open system Preferences > Accounts and click on the "+" sign at the bottom left, give it a name and a password, then you can logout of the account you're in and into the new account for testing.

  • Fingerprint reader not recognized on Pavilion dv4t-1400 laptop

Within this last week, my fingerprint reader is no longer running on my Pavilion dv4t-1400 laptop. I believe it stopped when last week there were two usb problems which are still unresolved --- i.e., under Device Manager, there are two USBs with a yellow warning triangle and after trying to troubleshoot, it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
I've reinstalled the Validity Sensor software several times but this doesn't make a difference.
BTW, to the best of my knowledge, there hadn't been any new software updates prior to the USB errors.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

This problem is resolved once I powered down my laptop, unplugged the AC adapter and all external connections, removed the battery, waited about one minute, resinserted the battery, and restarted my PC.
The Validity Sensor driver was automatically added by Windows, and my fingerprint reader is now recognized and working.
