Reader opens and closes immediately by itself when try to open PDF from windows live mail or browser

Hi,
I'm having problems with acrobat xi since installing it on my windows 7 computer.
Every time I try to open up a pdf file from windows live mail or a browser.. it opens and closes immediately. The only way I can view it is if I save the file onto the computer, open up acrobat reader first then open up the file in there.
How do I make it work properly again please?
I've tried several things so far like..
-Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
-Disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

How can I tell which one it is exactly? I think it is Acrobat Reader.. 11.0.10...
I can only open up a PDF if I save it to my computer and then open up the Acrobat program then open up a file using file > open.
But if I try and view a pdf from an email attachment in Windows Live Mail.. or from a browser... it will open and close immediately.
How do I fix this please? thanks.

Whenever I try to launch the Mail application on my iPod touch, the window opens and closes immediately. I just restarted the device, but there's an icon on the screen of a circle.

Try a hard reset and go from there.
Basic troubleshooting steps.
17" 2.2GHz i7 Quad-Core MacBook Pro  8G RAM  750G + 120G OCZ Vertex 3 SSD Boot HD 

IE open and close immediately. Can't fix using many methods.

A user reports that can't use IE 8 suddenly.
His PC is Windows 7 Pro sp1 and using Internet Explorer 8.
Don't know what he did before and he ever tried restore to previous point but no help.
I've tried the following.

   Reset Internet Explorer to its default settings or
   Uninstall and then reinstall Internet Explorer through Turning on/ off windows features.
2. Use other user like Administrator to open IE. But result is same
3. Upgrade to IE 11. Still open and close immediately only.
   Repeat step 1 but still not solve.
4. Downloaded IE 11 and installed manually but it stated that IE 11 was installed. (Had turned off IE to uninstall it through Turning on/ off windows features)
Asked him to use Chrome but some websites need IE. So he must use IE too.
Please advise that how to fix it.
Hope not need to re-install OS.

1. Are there any traces in Event logs?
2. Try to delete history in IE
3. Try to disable add-ons.
4. If nothing helps, analyze your system with Process Monitor and Process Explorer. Check which programs starts with Autoruns (all programs are from Sysinternals)

Can't Open PDF in Windows Live Mail

I am having trouble opening a PDF file in Windows Live Mail that is sent to me. I can only open it if I save the file to desktop. I was able to open it just fine awhile ago. I don't know what I may have done. Can someone please help me.

I guess I should have explained it better. If someone sends me a PDF as an attachment, I can click on the PDF in Windows Live Mail but the PDF will not open. I tried uninstalling Adobe Reader and then re-installing but had no luck as well. If I right click the PDF and then click "save as" then I can open it after I save it to my desktop or whereever. Hope you or someone can help me.

81. upgrade Windows Store opens and closes immediately

I am on Windows 8 and I am trying to upgrade to Windows 8.1. However, the windows store app opens and then immediately closes. I tried a manual download of the 8.1 upgrade. But when i try to run that it tells me the update does not apply to my computer.
I assume i need to do this through the windows store. Does anyone have any idea why the windows store keeps closing?
I have disabled anti-virus, checked my permissions to the registry settings and I have checked my permissions to the program files folder. All Application Packages are set to read and execute.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

According to your description, seems that you are still in Windows 8 and trying to upgrade to Windows 8.1 via Windows Store, while you’re unable to launch Windows Store.
Solutions:

after connecting to itunes after a few months now ALL of my 3rd party apps open and close immidiately when i try to open them

First try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If that doesn't help, try downloading a new App free app from the app store to see if that helps.

Windows 8.1 Apps open and close immediately

We have joined a laptop running Windows 8 to the domain however none of the apps work. They open and then close immediately.
The error in the event log is:The app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar's package family (microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe) has more than one package installed. This is not supported, so the app
was not activated for the Windows.Launch contract.
The problem doesn't happen with a local user or before the laptop was on the domain.
We have tried following with no luck:
*Permission changes for ALL APLICATION PACKAGES
* Laptop and user in an OU with no group policies applying
*Same ISO re-downloaded
*Registry changes advised by Microsoft
* Local admin rights to domain user
Uninstalling and re-installing the apps manually fixed this issue but this isn't the correct way of fixing this as Windows 8 will be rolled out company wide.

App opens then closes immediately, but only when in Applications folder

I have an app called Cyberduck, a freeware SSH client.
I put it in my Applications folder, and opened it, but it bounced a few times on the Dock, then closed. I tried again, keeps happening, every time.
What's weird is if I move it out of my Applications folder, into, say, my Downloads folder or the Applications folder on my Home directory, it opens and works just fine.
As soon as I move it back to Applications and try open it, same problem again!
Any ideas?

With Cyberduck not running, go into the "Library" -> "Preferences" folder (located under your home folder) and delete the .plist file for cyberduck (I think the name is ch.sudo.cyberduck.plist). You can either drag it to trash, or drag it to any location outside the ~/Libarary/Preferences folder -- such as the Desktop. Then start Cyberduck. Moving or deleting the .plist file will force it to create a fresh default plist for that application (as if it were a newly installed application.)

I have just updated to Firefox v 6.0.2 and can no-longer open web links from Windows Live Mail 2011 (Bld 15.4.3538).

Shutting down programmes and rebooting computer did not help. Launching web links from Live Mail has never been a problem before. Error message reads " There was a problem sending the command to the program"

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

It starts with a checklist for getting PrE set up properly, then moves into tuning up one's system and OS (you have done a lot of that already), and then goes into troubleshooting tips. Note: those tips rather work up quickly in "degree of difficulty," and DO become quite technical, but things like the "Finding Clues" link will give some tools, that might prove useful, like the use of Windows' Event Viewer to track down issues.
One of the first things to look at would be your video driver. I would go to the video card's/chip's mfgr's. Web site, and check for a later driver. Do not trust Windows, or any utility to tell you if you have the latest driver. If there is not a newer video driver, or it will not install properly on your system, be sure to check with the HP Web site, as HP, Dell, Lenovo, and some other mfgrs. will re-package video drivers to suit their specific setup.
One troubleshooting technique, that might prove useful (however, those deleted programs bother me a bit here), would be to create a System Restore Point for now (see Windows Help for doing this with your particular OS version). Then, boot to Safe Mode, and choose an older System Restore Point, from when things did work. This might take some trial-and-error, to get back far enough. Test. At the worst, you will only have lost a few minutes, as you have your new System Restore Point for now, to fall back on.

Several applications including Settings open and close immediately, unable to get iTunes to install an update

While traveling in China, I was unable to get latest iTunes download an update to 4.3.2 (after download is compoleted, is starts processing and says network timed out, without any clear reason) I can download the file separately for an older version without using iTunes fine.
I have a hunch that the multitude of emails flying in my account is causing trouble, since Mail is one of the apps closing immediately. But I cannot use settings to combat Mail problems.... Anyone any idea???

The "Network timed out " may be a firewall or antivirus on the computer.
For the apps closing, try the following:
stop all running apps:
Double-click the Home button. Hold an icon in the bottom row until the minus sign shows, then touch all minus signs to close all apps.
Then Press and Hold the Home and Power buttons until the Apple Logo appears, about 10 seconds.
