Reader uninstall failure / will not reinstall

I have a corporate distribution version of Reader X that I installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 (64bit) Remote Desktop Services Server (formally Terminal Server).  The version I am using is for Windows Server 2008.   I have two of these servers one for internal usage and one for external usage.  The internal usage system when a user tried to run the Reader X from the RDS website indicated Reader X did not start on server.  All is ok on the remote site RDS Server.  I consoled to the internal system and Adobe X ran fine.  I tried to uninstall Reader X and that is where the problems started.
During uninstall the uninstaller stopped working. ??  I went back to add/remove and Reader X was removed but all the contents of the installation directory on the D drive where still present.  I could even browse to the executable and run it.  ??
OK now what!  i tried a reinstall and got the following:
When installing to default location, C drive, I get the following error:  Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\C37BC61A283EBF941A5A3A136A36263F\68AB67CA7DA73301B 744A0000000010. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
When installing to D drive I get the following error:  Error 1326. Error getting file security: D:\program files(X86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Onix32.dll GetLastError: 5
As noted can't use add/remove as application is no longer present.  I tried to access and delete key for C drive install but get restriction error.  I'm consoled as domain admin.  I tried deleting the installation directory on the D drive but received "you need permission" error even though again I'm consoled as Domain Admin.
I have downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility but it does not see an Adobe installation.
I tried installing a full version of Adobe Acrobat and it won't install to the D drive same error but installed to the C drive.  I then uninstalled the full version, rebooted the machine and then tried to reinstall Reader to the C or D drive and get the following errors
For D drive installation: Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privleges to access this directory: D:\program files(x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator (I'm consoled in and logged in as domain admin)
When I change the directory to say Adobe1 on the D drive installatio I get the 1326 error.
When trying to install to C drive get 1402 error.
I saw the registry is still littered with Adobe Reader entries.
I contacted support willing to pay the $39 but was told no can't get support for free product but when complained support personnel said he would check and then proceeded to leave me on hold for 45 minutes before I hung-up.
I need assistance or a program to remove all traces of the 10.X install so that I can reinstall it.
Thanks

  • Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium will not Reinstall: Says Serial Number is not "Valid"

Chat support has been no help.  I uninstalled Creative Suite 6 because I was having issues with some of the software and hoped that a reinstall would solve the problem.  Now the software will not reinstall.  It takes me to the validation screen where it asks for the serial number and says "We are unable to validate this serial number for CS6 Design and Web Premium.  Please contact customer service," when i type the serial number in.  I have now gone through THREE chat sessions with "customer support" in which they have sent me a link to download the same program, and it would not reload because of the serial number, and then have walked me TWICE through a multitude of tasks that have not solved the problem.  They keep asking me the same questions again and again, ignore my own questions to them, and cannot give me any information that actually helps.  The phone system will not support Creative Suite.  I NEED this software to reload as I've already missed one publishing deadline and will miss another if I cannot use this software, which, at the moment, seems to be a $350 coaster.
This is the same disc I used to install the software originally.  I installed it on my old laptop and used it there without incident until my new laptop came (a period of about two months).  I then Uninstalled the software from the old lap top and installed it on the new one, again, without incident.  When I found that the icons for switching between tools in Photoshop and Illustrator were so small I could not see them, and they seemingly could not be adjusted within the program, I uninstalled the software, and at this point is when the software would not reinstall on the same computer it was on in the first place.  My software is official, on a physical disc, and registered to my account with Adobe.  What do I do?  I just opened this press five months ago, and I cannot justify a Creative Cloud membership with the amount of work I'm actually putting out at the moment, and especially not with the terrible customer service I have been receiving so far.
    Please help.

If you never deactivated, and neither did they, then that is likely to be a reason for not being able to activate again.  Contact them thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

  • Acrobat 7.0 pro will not reinstall

I have CS2 Premium on XP. Had problems with printer not supporting pdfs. After techs fixed my computer Acrobat 7.0 pro will not work right. after 3 weeks with customer support and waiting days for them to get back to me they say they can't help - don't support CS2 (wished they would told me that initially). (I use this for volunteer newsletters and do not need CS4) I uninstalled CS2 and Reinstalled it. Probablem is when the components come up to install the Acrobat 7.0 pro is greyed out and will not reinstall or unistall it. Tried to go to the Acrobat componet on my disks and just install acrobat 7.0 pro is doesn't work - error says "Wrong OS or OS version for application".
Obviously it is still recognizing the initial installation. I mention this to the Adobe tech and ask how I could remove it completely so that I could reinstall and they would not give any suggestion, just kept saying we don't support it and refered me to the forums.
I really don't want to wipe my computer clean and reinstall all my software.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Reader 9.4 will not allow saving completed Form from Pro v8

I've just created a new form that Reader 9.4 will not let me save the completed changes on.  It will only allow viewing, modifying, printing, but not saving the changed form content.  If I open it with Pro v8, it works fine.
I opened some forms I created a while ago, and they're working fine - view, navigate, print, and save changes.  It's just this new form that won't save.
Is there a setting somewhere I've inadvertently set that's causing this?  My client really needs this form, but it's useless if they can't save the changes.
Also, I Check for Updates on my 8, and it's now at v8.1.3.  I uninstalled Adobe Reader and reinstalled - no change.  It also does the same thing (not allowing saves) on two different machines.
    Thanks in advance

    That was it!

  • Lightroom 5 from cloud install - lost light room and it will not reinstall

I have had lightroom since version 3, made all the upgrades, last week I installed version 5 through the cloud and it would not start yet the cloud says it is up to date. I have spent all morning looking for an answer. I uninstalled lightroom 5 but the cloud still says it is installed. I deleted the odp file and restarted my computer several times and it still says it is installed and will not reinstall!
Trying to find an answer or a person to talk to has been a very poor experience for the likes of Adobe.

David Irvine please be aware you are posting in a public forum.  I have edited your previous post to remove your e-mail address.
What four files are you referring too?  The only file referenced being removed is the OPM.db file.
What process did you utilize to remove Photoshop Lightroom 5?  What operating system are you wishing to install Photoshop Lightroom on?

  • Accidentally removed firefox, computer now says to restart to fnish uninstallation, have tried this many times, but will not reinstall

cannot find anything on computer regarding mozilla, but stuill saying must restart to complete uninstall. will not reinstall. please help

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

    C:\Documents and Settings\&lt;user&gt;\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Mac OS X Lion will not reinstall on MacAir

Have MacBook Air 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo/2Gb/128Gb with SSD which I was preparing to pass on to friend saved then erased my data but
Mac OS X Lion (purchased June 2012) will not reinstall using option 2 in Disk Utilities.  Can anyone tell me (in simple terms!) what my options are please.

See this knowledge base article:What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support
Note that if the MBA came with Snow Leopard, not Lion, you are supposed to erase the SSD using the original Mac OS X install disk that came with the MBA.  You cannot give away the computer with Lion installed if that was not the original operating system since it is permanently tied to your Apple ID.  The new owner will not be able to update anything tied to your Apple ID.
If it came with Snow Leopard, insert the DVD, restart and hold the C key, then use Disk Utility from the DVD to erase the SSD and then Install Mac OS X.

  • Canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print

canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print
I unplugged the cord that went from the printer to the computer to another canon printer to see if I could remediate a problem with a wireless printer.
When I plugged the computer cord back into the usual computer, the printer is no longer talking to the computer even though I have gone in and changed back the settings, and it has been the default printer - that was not changed.
I've tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail.

    Hi scheideckerj,
Reinstalling the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing.   Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX850.  Once on the download page, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • My TrafficLight extension disappeared from Safari and will not reinstall. How can I fix this?

My TrafficLight extension disappeared from Safari and will not reinstall, either through Safari or as a standalone download. How can I fix this?

Are you sure you downloaded this extension from Apple ?
    https://extensions.apple.com/
    Where is it?
    Check ~/Library/Safari/Extensions
I did a Google search for source links for the extension but can't find the one for Apple here.
Maybe you downloaded a trial version and it expired?  http://trafficlight.bitdefender.com/extensions.html
Just my 2 cents, but this extension is likely to cause you more problems with Safari then it's worth. If you are concerned about security on the net read >  Thomas' Corner : Mac Virus Guide

  • My macbook is loaded with microsoft work and every time I try and open the program I get an error reading and it will not open.  Powerpoint and the other applications still respond!

my macbook is loaded with microsoft word for macs and every time I try and open the program I get an error reading and it will not open. This is what it says:
The application Microsof Word quit eunexpectedly.  Powerpoint and the other applications still respond!

    The joys of Microsoft!
Maybe the preferences file is corrupted.  You should be able to find the Word preferences file in the folder:
    your user name/Library/Preferences
    Its name is com.microsoft.Word.plist
I suggest you drag this another folder and try Word again.
If that doesn't work then you might find clearing the cache files will fix the problem.  You can do this manually but I never bother. Instead I use a program like Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner (shareware) or Onyx (free). These programs do lots of other maintenance jobs so it's worth having at least one of them.

I have the Mac OS 10.9.4  I am unable to read PDF's, so thought I would download the latest version of Adobe Reader.  It will not install.  Is it comparable with my Mac OS?

    More information would be good.
What do you mean by "unable to read PDF's". How are you trying to read them and what exactly happens when you try?
so thought I would download the latest version of Adobe Reader.  It will not install.
    Again, what exactly is happening?
And yes, the latest version should be compatible with your OS.

  • I read that Lion will not support my Quicken and/or Appleworks.  How am I going to use my financial data and my documents?

I have read that Lion will not support Quick and/or Appleworks.  How am I to continue to use my financial data and documents?

I posted this answer to the same question about AppleWorks in the AppleWorks community two days ago.
I use iWork. The iWork applications - Keynote, Pages & Numbers - can only open AppleWorks 6 presentation, word processing & spreadsheet documents, respectively. They will not open any other type of AppleWorks 6 files or any AppleWorks 5 or any version of ClarisWorks files.
The third-party application, EazyDraw, can open AppleWorks draw documents. If you still have access to AppleWorks you can copy the contents of draw documents, paste them into an AppleWorks word processing document in object mode (click the arrow in the tool panel), save the WP document & then open it in Pages. You can copy & paste from AppleWorks to Pages but you would have to do it object by object or it will be one big uneditable object. Check Yvan Koenig's iDisk for many AppleScripts he has written to make conversion easier. Most are made to do batch conversions.
There is nothing other than AppleWorks that can open paint or database documents. Database data can be copied & pasted into an AppleWorks spreadsheet, saved & opened in Numbers or saved as ASCII/plain text & opened in most any spreadsheet, database or word processing program. Paint documents can be saved as one of many different formats to be opened in most image editing programs. I recommend using PICT or PNG for best results.
For a replacement for Quicken, I've narrowed my choices down to SEE Finance, Moneydance or Jumsoft's Money. I need to work with them more before I make my final decision. Mac | Life suggests SEE Finance as the best option.
