Reader Updates conflicting with acrobat

I have to deploy these updates on a large scale, but when deployed clients that have Acrobat installed have problems with their .fdf forms, they are blanked out and will not populate the data required.  This can be fixed manually by selecting the default .pdf handler in Reader preferences but it basically forces a rebuild of reader.  I cannot have a manual fix for a large number of machines.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok, I have not been clear enough, thanks for your patience.
I can open AA6 but when I try to open a document I get a message stating, “ Adobe Acrobat has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”  There is a link I can select to view more information. The error signature reads
Error signature
AppName: acrobat.exe                 AppVer: 6.0.5.399   ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0               Offset: 00060000
I then can select to view the error report. I cannot seem to highlight to copy and paste the error report which is a pretty long document.
Hope this helps
Thank you very much!

I am prompted to download Reader XI. Will this conflict with my Acrobat 9 pro that came with my CS5?
In the past, newer versions of Reader caused Acrobat to not work at all. I need the Acrobat more than I need the Reader.

Have you add any further issues with Acrobat 9 and Reader XI....?

  • Recent Fingerprint Reader update conflicts with Password Manager

    Hi,
After udating my Fingerprint Reader software to the most recent 64-bit 5.9.6.7084 version, my Password Manager (ver 3.20.0333.00) can no longer find the device. Am I the only one having this problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You are using the older Password Manager that's bundled with Client Security Solution.  And you need to update it to use the latest fingerprint software.

If you don't need the complexity of Client Security Solution, then another option is to start using the new stand-alone Password Manager 4.0

  • Safari Conflict with Acrobat Pro 10.1.5

Just thought I'd pass on a heads up for anyone considering updating to Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.5. When I tried, I ran into a serious conflict.
I'm running Safari 5.1.7 on my Intel iMac running OS X 10.6.8. Acrobat Pro 10.0 has worked fine for months. But when I updated to 10.1.5, Safari lost the ability to save online PDF files. (And Firefox lost the ability to view them altogether.)
To correct this, I had to uninstall Acrobat Pro altogether and re-install 10.0. Once I did that, I had no more problems with online PDF files.

Unfortunately you get that error no matter what's wrong with the embedded model data, there's no way in Acrobat to tell what's corrupted or to fix it. You would need to run the U3D files through third-party software to check if they conform to the published standard.
There's a reason Adobe removed U3D export from Photoshop

The ipw3945 driver doesn't compile anymore. It's probably easy to patch, but we'll stop maintaining it anyway. Please use iwl3945 or compile the driver yourself (the latest PKGBUILD and patches can be found at http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/ipw3945/trunk/)
you can download packages before updating using pacman -Swd packages_that_you_need
where -d skip dependency, -w download only

  • Is Reader XI Compatable With Acrobat Pro 9.5.5?

I want to upgrade my Reader to Adobe Reader XI and wonder if XI will intregrate and work with my  current Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 full program?

    Hello Chuck,
Yes, you can install Reader XI with Acrobat Pro 9.5.5; it should not create any incompatibility issue.

  • Reader Enabled Forms with Acrobat 8.0

    Hi,
I am considering upgrading from 7Pro to 8Pro and need to confirm some aspects of the new features for applying reader rights to forms. I have a number of forms generated in Lifecycle Designer 7.1, where the user is using the Reader version to email the XML data.
If I reader enable these forms with Acrobat 8 Pro, will the User be able to still email the XML data and also save the completed form locally? In addition will it be possible to inport and export XML data into & out of Reader Enabled forms?
In addition do you know what the story is with "500 users of the forms"? Is is 500 per form over the lifetime of the form? Some of my forms are distributed to different Clients and I am not sure how this will work
    Any help/guidance gratefully appreciated ;-)
    Thanks, Niall

It should, yes. Can't confirm 100% as I haven't tried.

  • Reader X compatible with Acrobat 9 shared review

I need to know if I can initiate a shared PDF review with Acrobat 9 and include reviewers running Reader X and Reader 9.
If anyone has info on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

So presumably a Shared Review started with Acrobat 9 could also be responded to with Reader X? I have such a user that can't seem to connect to the review, though he can open the document.

  • Conflict with Acrobat 9 Pro Today

As of this morning neither of our (fully updated) 2 copies of 9 Pro will successfully handle any type of filing Saving after joining files or inserting pages, etc.  They crash with a notify Microsoft message  This doesn't seem to effect 9 Standard.
I assume some upgrade over the weekend caused a conflict but wanted to see if any else had the same issue.  Thanks Grady

I have experienced a similar situation. Upgraded from Adobe Pro 9.3.2 to 9.3.3 July 2nd. Now when I launch a PDF via xfdf (passes field tags & data along with the print parameters) I get these two errors:
    Expected a dict object
I click OK and get this fatal error
Acrobat failed to send a DDE command (Dynamic Data Exchange)
I click OK and the notify Microsoft error appears followed by Adobe closing.
This only happens when the print parameter contains a "Silent" print mode (print without viewing)
One of our clients had upgraded all workstations from Adobe Reader 9.3.2 to 9.3.3 and every machine had this error. They rolled back to Adobe Reader 9.3.2 and the problem went away.
I submitted a bug report to Adobe but have received no response. I posted this same problem in the Acrobat Scripting forum and had many people read my post but no one replied.
I've had a good experience using Adobe so I hope they work this out soon as our clients will not use it for long like this.
    Good luck,
    Doug

  • Reader 9 conflicting with forms made in Livecycle 8

I created a very simple, basic form in Livecycle (pdf background of logo and large sized text with a text field and date field), saved it as a pdf, opened it in acrobat 8 just fine. When I tried to open it in Reader 8 to test it, it refused to use reader and would only open it in Acrobat. Pointless! So, I upgraded Reader to 9. Apparently a huge mistake. I can still open it in Acrobat 8 and see the fields and everything seems fine.
When I open it in Reader 9 (even after saving again in Livecycle), I get a message saying "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact he author of the original version of this document."
This message happens with a brand-new, spanking fresh form. I read that 9 basically corrupts the form if you type in it and save it. You then can't revise what you've typed. However, I'm not even given the opportunity to type and corrupt it. It's just not showing the fields or allowing any use of the form as a form.
Any suggestions on fixing this mess???? Thanks for your help....

Excuse me, I forgot another part of this. Now, when I try to open the previous form in Livecycle, I get this message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
Um, yeah. Since I have Acrobat 8 and Reader 9, I have no idea where the spaztastic behavior originated.
Should I just be uninstalling 9 and searching the net for 8?

  • What are the known conflicts with Acrobat Pro & Quark 7.3

Does anyone know what the conflicts are for Adobe Acrobat Pro & Leopard? What about Quark 7.3 & Leopard? Thanks!

You should be able to download the source to whatever version of Ruby you want, build it, and install it into the default location of /usr/local. From there, you can run it instead of the system version.

  • Adobe Reader 8 compatible with Acrobat Standard and Pro 7?

Our organization has Adobe Reader 7 deployed to all users. Some users also have Acrobat Standard 7 or Acrobat Pro 7. We want to upgrade all users to Adobe Reader 8 (or maybe 9) but do not want to upgrade Standard and Pro users yet.
I have not been able to find any information about compatibility issues with Reader 8 and older versions of Acrobat, but last time we did an upgrade in similar fashion we experienced issues. Any insight?

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.

  • Photoshop 5.5 conflict with Acrobat Pro 11

I seem to be having a conflict between Photoshop 5.5 and Acrobat Pro 11. Photoshop will not load past "Reading Preferences" since we have installed Acrobat Pro 11. What can I do to fix this?

Your preference may have become corrupted. You could try resetting them. Try starting Photoshop using its launching icon. Then quickly immediately hold down Ctrl|CMD+Atl|Option+Shift.  Photoshop should ask if you want your preference deleted. respond Yes. Photoshop should then generate a new set of preferences for your user id and start,
