Reader (version X or higher) has stopped working without crash report. (Win 7 x86)

I am using Windows 7 32bit Home Pre.
Version X or higher or Adobe Reader always freezes and crashes and stops running, without crash reports.
I've already tried the lab cleaner stuff and the manually open EULA before using.
PLEASE HELP.

Now I have justed installed XI and installed the protected.reg thing.
It seems okay now, but I dunno if it will screw up aagain, so I will mark as helpful first. If it f___ up again, I will post here again.

    I'm wondering whether your comment addressed to Lmono was intended for me Tmono.
    You ask: "So why didn't you provide the same?"
    It just didn't occur to me to do so.
    My intent was to report that there was at least one other user encountering a similar problem.  It occurred to me that Adobe might be interested in determining the scale of a problem which causes one of  their best known products to fail to run quite so completely after a clean install 
    I also see that I misreported the OS I'm running - its Windows 8.
    If there is further information I can provide which might be helpful in determining a solution, if someone could be specific about what would be helpful, then I will try to respond appropriately.

    The X230 has Intel HD 4000 graphics support built in to the processor.  Windows was pretty stubborn about refusing driver updates, but I just managed to get drivers from the Intel site to install and Photoshop is now running, so hopefully I need not try your patience any further.
    In case anyone else has a similar problem and stumbles on this the way to install the driver that worked was to:
    - download the zip version of the generic driver from Intel
    - use the 'have disk' option in the windows dialog to install the driver - other paths in the UI did not work with windows refusing to install the driver.

    Hello. I have had the exact same problem as the person above, with the exact same crash timestamps and IDs. Using the msi worked for me aswell but I was left with an issue. If I install the product via msi instead of exe, everytime I delete one of adobe reader's shortcuts, I will get a "please wait while windows configures acrobat" every time I launch adobe reader. At the end of this process the shortcuts are put back in my programs and desktop, basically adobe insists on keeping them there and if I dare to remove them it detects the change, launches windows installer, and puts them back.
    As I understand there are certain command line parameters for the MSI that will either prevent instalation of shortcuts altogether, or stop adobe from "regenerating" itself everytime I delete them. How can I do that?

  • Built in SD card reader in Tosh P205D-S7438 has stopped working

    My sd card slot has stopped working in my laptop.  When I insert a card I get a message that the card must be formatted.  When I tell it to format it, it replies that it cannot.  I have tried multiple cards, and get the same response every time. These same cards work perfectly in my husbands SD card slot as well as in my camera.
    I have tried restarting the Smart Card service....no dice.
    I have tried updating the driver....most current is installed.
    I have tried deleting and reinstalling the driver.....no dice.
    I am running Win7 Home Premium, upgraded from Vista Home Premium.  I just downloaded all Windows updates, included SP3 which apparently has several sd card fixes, but nothing.
    Can anyone help?  I'm not a geek by any means, but it sure seems like this ought to be any easy problem to fix. However, none of the online resources I've found have helped.  Time to go straight to the manufacturer.

    If the machine recognizes the card reader in my computer and/or the device manager then the card reader is setup in BIOS. Go to my computer. Click on it. Does SD card open? If not right click on the sd card and click on properties in the drop down menu. What drive letter is designated, how is it formatted and how much space is used/free? Your using Vista 32 bit. What's the OS on the other machine?

    i had the same problem try this out, it has worked for me.
    go to my computer > local drive (C:) > Program Files (X86) > Itunes.
    once you get there if you see an Itunes icon that just says "Itunes" change the file name to "Itunes.exe."
    then try and boot up itunes. lemme know if this works for you

    It's not very much you will be able to do with Skype with IE8 installed on Windows 7 computer.
    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
    Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

    I have been having this problem recently (Vista HP fully updated 32 bit) with Reader X. This was a clean install and no 3rd party reg cleaners etc have ever been used. I use Microsoft Security Essentials.
    This problem seems intermitent. Yesterday it happened nearly every time I closed a pdf. Today it hasn't done it once so far. When the problem first happened a week or so back I tried the solutions offered (turn off protected mode) and it did not work. I tried "repair Adobe install" and that too did nothing. Windows problem reports keep saying Adobe updates available... they are not.
    Apart from the message saying that it crashed on closing there is no outward sign of anything amiss. I did however open task manager while the error box was still displayed and it showed two Adobe processes as still running. When I used the error box option to "close program" these processes ended.
    I can't help but feel these problems coincided with a recent round of updates although that may of course, be just that, a coincidence.

    I have a new Sony Vaio and Premiere Elements 4 was preinstalled when I bought it. I'm now trying to create a movie and I've never used PE before, I can add various clips into the sceneline as well as titles, but when I go to preview my video in the preview screen it plays about 10 secs of a clip before just closing the whole program down and coming up with a Windows message that reads
    "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    I haven't had a solution! Please help, its really frustrating, I just want to get started with my movie and I can't.

    You don't say what operating system you're using, what your system specs are or, most importantly of all, what type of camcorder your video came frame, but all of these things can affect the program's performance.
    Another large factor is outdated firmware and, especially, outdated Quicktime.
    Because there are so many possibilities, I'd recommend you contact Adobe Tech Support and do some troubleshooting with them.

  • Program won't stay open. Message; "Photoshop Elements 12 editor has stopped working."

    This started happening suddenly a day ago.
    Once I bring a photo into the program a window appears reading, "Photoshop Elements 12 editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is available."
    The program has been working fine up until a day ago.
    Please advise a fix.

    Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
    Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
    Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
    On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
    Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  12\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
    Now launch PSE and check if it works.

    Just installed latest version of Adobe Reader on new desk top with Windows 7.  Most PDF files allow conversion to Word.  Some do not allow conversion, only allows Adobe Reader XI, but I get "Adobe Reader has stopped working" message.  Downloaded latest XI security update.  Still get the error message that i has stopped working.
