I have uninstalled and then reinstalled the program 3 times. I have tried to have the installer "fix" the program through the "change" function in the Add/Remove programs area of the control panel. I have tried to update the graphics drivers like an earlier person with a similar problem had done with some success. Still no results. I never had any issues prior to upgrading to Reader XI.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Computer is ACER Aspire -4830TG laptop, with 8GB RAM, i5-2430M intel processor.
Not sure when this happened, but am unable to open Adobe Reader 10. Error indicates the fault module to be Comctl32.dll, specifically,

Reader will initialize, but blank out and freeze as soon as it attempts to do anything, including displaying a menu bar. I have reinstalled Reader several times and have removed it first. It appears that the issue is really the Comctl32.dll file. There are so many versions on my system can't figure out how to tell if it is corrupt.
Virus scan shows no risks.
Unable to rollback far enough to make a difference.
Anyone else have a problem like this?

Signature error in Module msvcr80.dll

Using PSE 7 under Windows Xp Service Pack 3.
I was using the Editor and then decided to try the Demo of Elemenst+. On reopening the Editor I got a Signature error in Module msvcr80.dll version 8.0.50727.4053.
As I also have PSE 5 on my system, which is still working correctly, I looked for its msvcr80.dll; found it with a version of 8.0.50727.42.
Replaced the 8.0.50727.762 in:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Microsoft.VC80.CRT
with Version 8.0.50727.42
On Opening the Editor the same Signature error.
Note still reporting 8.0.50727.4053 Not 8.0.50727.42 So reports 8.0.50727.4053 whether .42 or 762 installed - providing Editor is reading C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Microsoft.VC80.CRT for its msvcr80.dll. (I have searched for msvcr80.dll and only found the above path for PSE 7.0 but there is another, 4053, in C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1f......7989 and also 762 and 3053 in C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_....... )
I did see a suggestion of using the msvcr80.dll from the Installation Disk but this is just a giant cab file; msvcr80.dll not listed seperately.
I have used System restore to go back before adding Elements+ but no luck!
Before I reinstall or even reformat can anyone please help?

I have now managed to extract msvcr80.dll from my PSE 7 installation disk via WinZIP.
It has Version 8.0.50727.762 I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Microsoft.VC80.CRT to no avail. Note the manifest file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Microsoft.VC80.CRT is looking for version 8.0.50727.762
I note that the error report I could send to Microsoft still has mention of Elements+ even though I have restored my setup to before it was installed?

Ok, it's probably how you save the files.
DON'T use Save from the File menu in Safari
DON'T use any save icon in a safari toolbar
Use only
1. Right/ctrl click on a link to a PDF BEFORE showing it, save from the pop-up menu (no good if the PDF comes from a button, and in some other cases)
2. Hover to get the ADOBE toolbar and save from that.

Adobe reader won't open PDF file

I have Adobe Reader 9 and Windows 8 on a Dell computer. When I try to open a PDF file from a website it sends me to my Library on my computer and won't open the file. If I try to open a PDF file from my Desktop, it opens OK. What can I do to fix this?

ITunes won't launch / Bonjour critical error

iTunes hasn't run for weeks. I've followed other troubleshooting and removed iTunes and reinstalled multiple times, but continue to get failure to launch. At best I get a "checking iTunes library" message and then nothing. iTunes doesn't show up in the services window. I was able to launch iTunes once under Safe mode, but nothing else would load.
Windows 7 64bit machine. running Norton Internet Security, which I've uninstalled and reinstalled and which I've had turned off during the install process of iTunes. Install goes fine as far as I can tell. But iTunes will not run, nearing wit's end...Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks /Clayton

I'm a VB programmer attempting to learn java. I downloaded the j2se 1.40 sdk (At present I am running Windows 98) and installed it. The download and installation process was smooth. However when I attempt to launch the program, I get the illegal operation dialog with details as follows:

What command did you use to launch the program?
The readme file explains how to set the path and classpath; if you've done that, try this command in a DOS window:

Will read, won't burn CD. Error 0x80020022. Help.

Wife has 13 inch white Intel Macbook about a year old. It has burned CDs fine all year.
This morning she turned it on, got black screen. We turned it off and on again and it booted fine. However we can't burn a CD. I don't know if two events are related. Get message "Burning the disc failed because communication to the disk drive failed" with error above.
I tried repair permissions, different media, restarts, etc. Nothing.
It reads fine. Everything else works. It just won't write. Any idea what happened. We have AppleCare but I wanted to ask before calling them. (Do you have to call first or can you just take it to store?)

R12 DBCA won't launch/Net Manager error

I have just installed R12 on Windows Server 2003.
When I try to launch the Database Configuration Assistant, nothing happens. The dos prompt just moves to a new line with no error. The path I'm using is E:\Oracle\db\tech_st\10.2.0\BIN\launch.exe
Also, when I click on the Net Manager, it launches fine. When I expand the Service Naming tree, I get the following error:

Reader won't launch for internet PDF

I have an old version of Acrobat (6) and the latest Reader 9.1. When I need to launch a PDF from the internet, it launches the Acrobat, which won't work since it is not the latest version. I do not want to delete the Acrobat since I use it for other reasons.
This problem just started when I had to reload the Acrobat. I changed all the settings in the "folder options/file types" to open with the reader, but this didn't correct the problem.
Is there a setting to open all internet PDF's with the reader?

Adobe doesn't support Reader and Acrobat on the same Windows computer. Too many problems. Open Reader on boot and don't launch Acrobat, then IE should use Reader for viewing pdfs.

Reader won't launch in 64-bit linux

Reader (currently 9.3.3) tries to launch but fails with the error message : " acroread: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib32/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_malloc_n". OS is Kubuntu 10.04 x86-64 with 32-bit libs installed.

How is doing "make -l glib" supposed to help? Since there's no context (source or makefile) to run it with, it just invokes the response "make: ***No rule to make target 'glib'. Stop"

System Preferences Won't Launch, console "bus error"

This isn't a case of the System Preference not being found, being moved out of the Applications Folder, or anything trivial like that. System Preferences will not launch. This is a clean install of Leopard, and updated to 10.5.8. The error message in console is:

"The application System Preferences quit unexpectedly." Relaunch doesn't work.

I have exactly the same problem after having installed 10.5.8.
I had to do this after not being able to start the machine at all because of (what I believe to be) a bug with Security Update 2010-005. The Archive and Install process did not work.
