Reader X closes automatically when pressing any key

Hi everyone, I updated the Reader yesterday and now the following occurs:
I may adjust the toolbars, make snapshots, print, etc. - but whenever I am hitting the keyboard, either when trying to enter a comment or when choosing side numbers in the printer menu, the program closes automatically without further comment, error message, etc. It may be opened again without any problems, but I cannot find a solution to the keyboard problem. I am using Windows XP, SP 3.

I was having this issue today on a co-worker's machine.
However I found a solution thanks to brian.hart.
Go into your registry editor (Run >> regedit)
Go to Hive [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat reader\10.0\FeatureLockDown]
Right click >> go to New >> DWORD
Give it the name "bProtectedMode"
Hit okay. Close Regedit. Win.
You may have to restart the computer. I didn't have to though.

I have the exact same problem with my Nokia Luna 8600, turns on normally, but as soon as I press any key, it turns off and changing battery nor formatting didnt help.

I have recently updated my windows from xp to 7 and installed the latest version of adobe reader. Then I encountered a problem, after some time using my PC, Adobe Reader would close whenever I touched any key in my keyboard, but not on my mouse, so I could only view pdf files by moving around using the mouse, and loss funcionalities like searching for a word in the document, or saving it with a different name. The only way to solve this problem was to restart my PC, and then everything would be allright for a while, then the problem happened again. I uninstalled and installed Adobe again, however this problem persists, so I'm seeking help here.

When I turn on my iMac, it shows a black screen and says 'No bootable device - enter boot cd and press any key'. Not sure how to fix this.

I'm not sure what to do, I did not recieve a cd with my mac to boot it up (I ordered it online).
Also I can't find my harware serial number (I've tried many times to input what I thought it may be from my receipt). I saw that I need this number to contact apple support, my 90 day complimentary support is still valid so I wish to contact them.
I don't know much about apple products as this is my first apple computer so any information is helpful.

Hold down the Alt/Option-key at startup of your iMac to get the Boot Selection screen.
From that choose to boot into OSX.
Once in OSX go to System Preferences then Startup Volume and reset your OSX to be the default.
The new iMacs have OSX 10.7 Lion preinstalled and don't come with any CD/DVD anymore.
Instead OSX Lion includes a new feature called "Lion Recovery".

White screen and message reading "No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key"

My iMac was recently upgraded to the new Lion software. I dont know if that has anything to do with it but, the computer was working fine. I was working in iMovie, had Safari open. My cousins and I opened Photo Booth and started taking pictures. When we clicked on effects and selected an effect everything froze. I turned off the computer and when it started up, the screen was white. I unpluged it and restarted it, same thing. I unplugged it and around 3 hours later I turned it back on...same thing! Well this time after the white screen appears for I dont know...10 15 seconds..it goes black and a message saying "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" appears. I have no idea what to do. I have stuff that needs to get done that is saved on this computer. PLEEAASSEE HEELLPP!!!!

Start up you computer holding down the option and select Macintosh HD (or whatever name you gave your OS drive). If successful, take a trip to System Preferences->Startup Disk and make sure the proper HD is selected. Hope this helps.

If Windows doesn’t install properly
Verify that you’re using an original, full version of the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8, or Windows 8 Pro.
Restart your Mac and hold down the Option key until one or more disk icons appear on your screen. Insert the Windows installation disc into the optical drive or insert the USB flash drive with Windows into a USB port on your Mac. Select the Windows installation disk icon, then click the arrow beneath it. Quickly press any key on your keyboard to start the installer. Follow the onscreen instructions to repair or reinstall Windows.

I have just updated my MBP to Maverick OS. I am unable to shutdown or log off. When i press the shutdown button, a black screen appears which goes off on pressing any key. The shutdown or log off dialog does not appear. Your kind help is much appreciated.

The button response has changed.
Short press : sleep
Medium press (2-3 sec) : restart, shutdown, sleep dialog
Long press : force shutdown. (Same as before)

"Press any key to mute ringtone" feature = never hear calls when in the car. Any fix?

Is there any way to turn it off?
I keep my Centro in a belt case this is always clipped to my belt while riding in the car.
It's a very nice, rugged case I picked up that is the perfect size, but the keys easily get bumped while I'm driving.
So, when a call comes in it will only ring for a 1/2 second before one of the keys gets bumped and silences the ringtone. It's really annoying to not even know that anyone called me until I check the Centro for some reason.
Is there any way to disable the "press any key to mute ringtones" feature? Any setting / hack / tweak / etc?

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Unfortunately there isn't a way to disable this feature. However, you can probably look into a car kit/ clip so you can slip the device on your car in an easy to reach position. Another alternative would be to take the belt like and clip it on your sun visor for a temporary fix.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to completely resolve it but I hope my advice helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. This happens when you're trying to boot normally?
First, shut down the MBP; hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds if necessary.
Next (this assumes the install disc is still in the optical drive), press the power button and hold down the c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation" > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar > select Startup Disk > choose the OS X installed on your HD. Follow the on screen prompts to quit the utility and restart.

Call do not route to operator when users do not press any key

We have a new CUCM platform with Cisco Unity ver 9.1.2TT1.11900-2TT1.
We configured system handlers and and all "caller input" options runs good but when callers do not press any key the call goes to "nowhere", instead of going to Operator (default behavior).
Do you have any idea on what could be misconfigured here, or what should be configured to solve this problem??

Sorry for my last "wrong answer" .....You (again) was right, I had a bad configuration on "after greeting" setting..i had:
"Call Action: Take message".
I changed to " User with Mailbox pointing to recepcionist VM.

Reboot holding down the Option key between the tone and the apple logo w/pinwheel. When the boot manager gives you a selection of boot partitions, choose your Lion partition. Once booted, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk > select your Lion partition.

Compaq PresarioCQ60 with Windows Vista-
my computer will not load. I get gthe same error message no matter what I try- "No bootable device- insert boot disk and press any key". My computer is 5 years old and I no longer have the original disc used for the first time set-up. Should I buy a new disc or is my computer fried?

I believe it is you hard drive that has a problem. Have a computer person check the hard drive out and see if they can get it going again. It could just be file corruption and by attaching it to a desktop machine as a 2nd drive and running a check disk on it, they may be able to get it going. The key questions are if the drive still spins, weather the bios can recognize the drive and if the drive is operating within normal parameters. If the drive is OK, you have a good chance that they can fix the software.

I was using YouTube in morning and left macbook in sleep mode. Since its battery was dead in evening I connected the power cord and restarted the system. Since then I am facing the error "No bootable device -- insert boot device and press any key".
Please let me know what should be done..

Reboot and hold the alt key. Select the drive you want to boot to. Once successfully booted go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and make sure your system is booting to your Mac partition on startup.
