I have a computer that keep crashing when opening a pdf.
The pc runs xp sp3 and reader x.
I have tried the following.
1. Removed plugins folder
2. Repaired Install
3. Set Protect Mode Off
4. Reinstalled
5. Cleared Temp Files
Still no luck. Any suggestions?
Please let me know the following details:
1. Which version of Adobe Reader are you using. Is it 10.1.0 or 10.1.1 or 10.1.2?
2. What is the exact error message received. Could you post a screenshot of the same.
3. Have you tried removing any external Reader font packs (such as Japanese/Chinese etc) installed on your system separately. You can try and remove the same using the Add/Remove Programs from witin the Control Panel.
Thanks

HThis situation is started after I clear the pop up advertisement.
What kind of advertisement? In Adobe Reader? Can you post a screenshot of that: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933
Regarding the crash, can you try disabling Protected Mode through the registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/49eeb48b-07c5-4502-984c-8a25259914fa -
Reader XI crashes on Macosx when opening shared document
I am unable to open any of our documents for shared review on my Mac. 100% of the time it results in a crash. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, removing Adobe prefs from the Library directories.

Reader 11.0.4 hangs when opening PDF
I recently pushed out an update to all of our exisiting installations from reader 9.1 to reader 11 about 250 installs. Most of the users have NO admin rights and when they open an attachment Reader 11.0.4 hangs opening the PDF and they never see the legal disclaimer. This is a huge problem that requires us to remove and reinstall Reader 11.0.4 as Admin to accept the disclamer then close the tools bar that NO ONE will ever need. All the machines affected are XP SP3.
How can this be addressed so that on the first use even if it means Reader is opening an attachmnet that Reader will not hang and the non-Admin user can accept the legal disclamer?Accept the EULA for your users when you create the deployment package in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI.

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (admplugin.apl) crash when opening PDF files
Hi,
I did spend some time today trying to get Adobe Reader 8.1.2 to run on a Citrix Access Essential 2.0 server.
Setup
Server OS:
Windows Server 2003 SP2 - fully patched.
Other software:
Office 2003 Standard, Danish, SP3
Symantec Antivirus 10.1
Adobe Reader 8.1.2, Danish
The installation is clean (1 week old).
Problem description:
When opening PDF files, Adobe Reader crashes before showing any content from the PDF file. The module crashing is admplugin.apl.
Work-arounds tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (DK).
Disabling Antivirus (service stopped)
Replacing admplugin.apl with admplugin.apl from Adobe Reader 8.0
Uninstalling DK version and installing US version.
Adding user to local Administrators to exclude any permission related problems.
Deleting Adobe folders from users profile Application Data\Adobe\... and Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\...
Turn DEP off
Solution:
Finally I gave up and installed 7.0.9 (Danish). It works as expected.
It seems that the problem is known and a few user has reported this. One Adobe KB article mentions the problem, and the solution is to disable some 3. party diagnostic/support tools provided by DSL providers. This is definitively not the issue in this installation.
Anybody from Adobe having any input to this problem?
Best regards from Denmark!Hi,
I am having a similar issue with Ver 8.1.2 running over cirtix with a similar setup to Jans-Peter.
The difference is that Reader opens fine but when you try to edit preferences it crashes.
This only happens on an citrix session. If I run reader on the server directly it works OK.
However after reading above I can replicate the problem on the server by moving or deleting the ADMPlugin.apl file.
Any further ideas at all?

Adobe Reader 11.0.05 won't always display the GUI when opening PDF?!
I have come across some odd behaviour with Adobe Reader 11.0.05. In particular, the following issues seem to have surfaced since upgrading to 11.x from 9.x.
Opening a PDF from any application, launches an "AcroRd32.exe" process but the GUI is not shown i.e. you don't see a Reader window or PDF. If you try open the PDF again it will launch another instance of that process and still won't show the GUI. Killing all AcroRd32.exe processes via Task Manager and re-opening the PDF will then work.
Some users are experiencing the following error when opening PDFs via IE and other 3rd party apps.
We've deployed 11.0.05 across a few thousand 32-bit Windows 7 PCs and it's a little concerning that PDFs won't always open. At this stage it is very random, maybe 1 out of 5 times it won't show the GUI but launch the process. Our only workaround is to advise users to kill all AcroRd32.exe processes and try again.
Our packaged 11.0.05 was created as follows:
AIP created from 11.0 msi > AIP patched with 11.0.04 msp (Q) > AIP patched with 11.0.05 msp (OOC). Transform was created using Adobe Customization Wizard 11.
Oddly, this does not occur using Adobe Reader 9.5.5 (or other versions of 9.x).
Sounds like 11.x is buggy, anyone else experiencing the same issues??
Thanks!Yes, I am always having problems. Microsoft fixed the problem for me but it has reverted back to a trial I downloaded. I can't access my PDF at all.

Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from Microsoft Project 2007
Issue: Acrobat 8 Standard crashes when opening PDFs created from Microsoft Project 2007.
OS: Win XP Pro SP3
Error Message(s): None
Details: This issue happens with multiple Microsoft Project files (including new files), multiple PDF creators (included Acrobat 8 Standard) and on multiple computers. We also tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader 8 instead of Acrobat Standard 8. There is no record in the event log on the computers of the application crashes.I may have a resolution now...
I clicked Tools -> Options -> View and turned off Bars and shapes in Gantt views in 3-D" on the advice of someone on a Microsoft Forum. I made three PDFs from three Microsoft Project files (that were having trouble previously) and was not able to get these PDFs to crash when zooming or changing pages. So far so good!

Adobe & Internet Explorer crashing when opening pdf within an Internet Explorer window
Hello,
Can anyone help me with this issue or maybe point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Working with in a ASP that uses reader to display forms. The form opens as an embedded adobe form in a new Internet Explorer window. Once the form opens it pulls data from the ASP. At times when the form opens in the new window both the Internet Explorer windows close. Other times a "user request stop" error appears and once OK is pressed both windows close. The ASP does not know what causes this & can not seem to replicate the problem. ASP is on the other side of the country.
Would the acrotray.exe be causing this?

Outlook2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Reader 11
Problem statement: Outlook 2013 email message goes behind main Outlook window when opening PDF attachment with Adobe Reader 11.0.3
Environment: Windows 8 x64; Office 2013; Adobe Reader 11.0.3
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open Outlook 2013
2. Open email message with PDF attachment
3. Open PDF attachment (with Adobe Reader as default PDF viewer)
4. Close Adobe Reader
Results: Original email message with PDF attacment now sits behind the main Outlook window
Expected results: Original email message should be on top of main Outlook window as it was when opening the PDF attachment
Note: Adobe Acrobat Profession performs as expected - the original email is on top of the main Outlook window - This only seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader.
Has anyone else experience this problem? If so, have you found a work-around?
Thanks,
MikeFrom: new window opens behind existing window - how to modify?
I had this problem happening in Outlook.
If I tried to open an email, it would open behind the main Outlook window.
The same happened if I opened a link in the email - it would open behind the mail.
The fix that was suggested to me was so simple that I still don't believe it.
Right click on the task bar and unlock the taskbar, then lock it again.
Close down Outlook and re-start it.
Problem solved! Just dont know how or why.

Why does Safari quit (on my Mac) when opening PDF?
I'm on a Mac OSX 10.5.8 on Safari. Each time I first want to open a PDF, my Safari crashes. The note says, "Problem caused by Acrobat plug-in". After relaunching Safari I can open PDF files. Help?
Hey thanks for responding so quickly! I've downloaded AppDelete
Forgive my ignorance - what is Reader X app and how can I find it?

Subject: Adobe Reader Why does Safari quit (on my Mac) when opening PDF?
One of the things I have loved about Macs since switching in 2003 is:
They tell you what went wrong when something does.
The Acrobat plugin is corrupted.
Solution:
Download a trial of AppDelete. Install it and open it.
Drag the Reader X app to the window.
Delete everything it finds associated with Reader X and empty the trash. Re-download Reader X and re-install it.
It will install new support and preference files and plugins. and things should go more smoothly. -

Adobe Acrobat hangs when opening PDFs even after reinstall
Hello,
I have 2 new Dell systems that are having issues with Adobe Acrobat. When opening PDFs, either from an email attachement or file from our server, there is a brief hang that lasts 10-15 seconds, during which Acrobat is unresponsive however the workstation continues to respond. I've since uninstalled/reinstalled, still no luck. I've also run updates. Problem unresolved.
Any ideasOne of our users is having a similar issue with Adobe Reader 9.2 hanging. Adobe Reader will eventually open after about 5 seconds. I've found a work around where if I leave a .pdf document open, any other .pdf I click will open up fine (but a .pdf needs to be left open in Adobe Reader). This is happening only with one user. Some of the things I've tried that have not worked: repairing, uninstalling/reinstalling, deleting temp files, opening the file with a different account/profile, downgrading to Adobe Reader 8.1.3. Anyone have any ideas? This is only happening to one user at my company. I've searched the forums here and it looks like other people are having similar issues but there's really not a solution to this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
