Reader X do not print some characters

Dear all,
We have windows 7 64bit and when I try to print a PDF with Adobe Reader X, some characters with no a priori logic (numbers, italic words, some capital letters...) are not printed. Instead, a non-filled squares are printed. I installed and reinstalled the adobe reader x and I tryed to print in different printers but the problem remains. Somebody know what's going on?

You can still download Reader 9.5 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
The 9.5.1 update is available from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5353
Note that you must uninstall Reader X before you can install an older version.

I'm using Adobe Reader in Ubuntu 8.04, but i'm having some problems...
I have a PDF whit various fields where i can write (i.e, if i write in field1, field2 will contain the same text). All is OK, but when i print the document some characters (5, 6, 7, 9, Á, É, Ú, w and many others) not print... what can i do? I have installed the following versions (all with the same problem): 9.1, 8.1.4 and 7.0...

PPD: I'm using the PPD from openprinting database (the recommended one).
I'm sorry, but i'm not able to post the document at the moment, because is a private document property of the company where i work.

Reader X1 will not print a document

Reader XI will not print a document. Using Mac OS X with HP Photosmart 2259. I can print any other document but not this particular one downloaded. The message I get is: 'no pages were selcted to print'. The document is a form that contains signature panes. I have tried to disable Echosign but the green bar continues to reappear when I open Reader.

Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here. I may be able to resolve the spooler/print queue issue that you are experiencing automatically. Let us know the results.

Reader Plug-in not printing PDFs correctly after InDesign Install on Mac OS 10.9.5

Installed InDesign trial yesterday. Ever since, no matter what browser I use, if I try to print PDFs from a browser, if the pages are in portrait mode, it will display them in portrait mode within the browser, but when I go to print them, the page appears in landscape and the bottom of each page does not print. It doesn't matter whether I select portrait or landscape mode. The page in the preview does not rotate. Some of the websites I use do not allow saving of a PDF, only viewing it in my browser window, so I can't save and use Preview to try to print it.

Are you using Adobe Reader or Apple Preview to print PDFs?
You should not use Apple Preview to do anything with PDFs as it is not a reliable PDF viewer. Use Adobe Acrobat or Reader for PDFs only.
Do you have installed any PDF plugins? On the Apple PDFs are shown without any plugins because their graphic engine Quartz is based on PDF, but it does not support completely every PDF standard, so it is better to use Adobe Acrobat or Reader. (But Apple Preview has been improved in the newest upgrades from Apples OS, so it is much better than before.)

Acrobat 7 Pro not Printing Some Layers

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having printing layered acrobat files. Many of my layers are not printing for some reason. This only happens on page 1 of a two page pdf. This is happening on Acrobat 7 pro on both Windows XP and Windows 7. It happens on several computers but for some strange reason it behaves on a third computer.

That's a guaranteed sign of a conflict between the Print Driver for your Printer and the Version of Acrobat you have.
First upgrade to the very latest version of Acrobat you can for the version you have.
Then go to to Printer website and the the very latest Driver they have.
I'll will almost bet a wooden nickel that you have a Hewlett-Packard Printer.
Adobe and Hewlett-Packard have had a known for years love/hate, yin/yang relationship. Every time Adobe would make a small change to Acrobat code. It would bust HP's Print Driver code. Usually it showed up as diagonal lines from one corner to the other. The only work around is Print as image. (looks like an old time TV that has the Horizontal hold out of adjustment.) as of Lat through Acrobat 8 and 9 they've buried the hatchet apparently.

ZEN not displaying some characters in me

Hi.
Got my 8gig Zen today and all was well until it hung at the end of the first album I played.
I've read that there was hanging problems with the firmware (.03 ) so I downloaded the latest one from Creative (v..04_0.6.) and flashed the player.
Every thing was well until I noticed that some characters weren't being displayed in the menus.
Most often it's the "i" and "o" that goes missing but other letters have been know to go walkies too.
The problem seems to occur after the player has been turned off for awhile and I can correct it by doing a reset but that's hardly desirable as I lose my setu

Printing a PDF in Adobe Reader v8 does not print watermark

In our office we have PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7 that have a lighten watermark which say "confidential". These PDF documents print fine with Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Our office has now converted to Adobe Reader 8.1.1. When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader v8.1.1 the watermark displays on the screen but when you print the document the document prints without the watermark.
I have checked the knowledge base and can't find this issue. The document has no trouble printing, it just doesn't display the watermark. I have tested Adobe Reader versions 8.0, 8.1.1 and the new version 8.1.2 all display the watermark when you open the Reader, but none of them print the watermark. I have gone back and verify and the watermark does print on Adobe Reader v7.0.8.
If anyone has a similar issue or solution please let me know.

Acrobat Pro 8 will not print some graphics, any ideas?

I am printing from Word 2007 to an Acrobat Pro 8 PDF. When I do so, some of the graphics will not show up. They seem to be in the document as when I highlight them, they show they are blocked and I can actually copy the stuff by highlighting it and copying, but it will not print or display.
This seems to be a new problem, as it worked fine, then I am not sure what trigered it, but now it will not print all the graphics. The graphics are just JPGs
Note the document looks good on the screen, but when I create a PDF or print the PDF, it will not print.
I also see this a lot when I use my PrintShop Mail program, which uses Acrobat to genterate it files.
Any ideas?

NSMutableString getCString misbehaves, does not show some characters

This is my first time here.
I have written a small tool for Cocoa / MacOSX 10.5 and I am trying to save a text to a file, but some characters such as # appear as hex 0x0.

Btw, I am a newb at Mac programming, but I come from a solid Windows programming background, but please don't hold that against me :P.

The NSString length method doesn't count a terminator; i.e. it's analogous to strlen(), so if you convert an ASCII C string to a NSString object, the return from [results length] will be the same as strlen(source). I'm not sure there wasn't something else going on at your end, since this length error only strips the trailing char from the source string. In any case, the following code should work for you:

ZHANWIN device type does not print Korean characters

Hi All,
We are trying to print smart forms containing Chinese,Taiwanese and Korean characters from our ECC 6.0
As per SAP Note 1038413 - Unicode SAPWIN device type for CJK fon, we used the device type ZHANWIN to print smart forms for these characters.
But with this device type we are unable to print smart forms with Korean characters. But as per the note, it has to support Korean characters too.
Please help with this issue.

Hi Subashree,
it is likely that the problem with ZHANWIN is related to the font used in the form. if you want to print Korean characters via ZHANWIN, you need to specify a Korean font like KPBATANG for the Korean characters in the form. Then this will be mapped to a suitable windows font in windows. If you chosse e.g font COURIER , it is mapped to windosw font Courier New which does nto contain the Korean characters.
For SWINCF or SWINCFCK the font in SAP is not so impertant. The mapping of the characters in windows is based on the Unicode character range. So as Nils said, SWINCFCK should work regardless of the font in the SAP form.

Adobe Reader 11 could not print with pdfp.exe

I have updated my Adobe to Adobe Reader 11 and in my application has used pdfp.exe for printing pdf files. But after updation I haven't print pdf files.
It was possible to print while Adobe reader 10 and below version with pdfp.exe batchfile .Please help

"Preview is not supported" is the error message I get when the Print Dialog box is open and I select "Preview" from it. I thought it might be important to mention that.
This may be too much information: When I select the print icon from the PDF file, the file does not print, nor do I get an error message. When I choose File > Print in Safari, and then select Print from the open window, a Safari error message pops up that says "The document could not be printed."
My ignorance is revealed: I do not know how to drag and drop the file directly on the printer's window...
I appreciate your assistance!

PDF created in MS Word does not print special characters correctly

I am having a problem with converting an MS Word document to a PDF. This document contains the Ohm symbol and the greater than or equal to symbol. I am using Word 2007 and Acrobat X Pro.
I am simply using the insert symbol feature in Word to insert the symbols. They appear fine in Word. When I print to PDF the Ohm symbol turns into an '&' and the greater than or equal to symbol turns into an 'e'.
A fellow I work with who has the exact same computer and program setup as me does not have this issue.
What can I do to correct this?

I tried all of the print/press options and they all do the same thing.
I have always used the pdf maker button from the MS Word ribbon.
I just tried using the print dialog and selected Adobe PDF with the 'high quality print' option that I need to use and this time it worked! But it is not really fixed as I make a lot of PDFs every day and need the one-click functionality.
In the PDFs that work and PDFs where the character fails I tried editing the text and it says that the font is substituted. In MS Word i am using Arial, Acrobat is using some "ArialMT" font that I never heard of.
The embeded fonts are also listed as ArialMT.

HP Deskjet 2540 will not print some documents, will print others

Hello everybody,
yesterday I installed my new printer Deskjet 2540 wirelessly and tested it. All (scan and copy) worked well up to the point where I wanted to print a Pdf file. It did not so I started picking other documents.
Some pdf files print without a problem, other won't. Some docx files print, other won't. In Excel or Oulook I haven't been able to print anything. In Outlook I was able to print to pdf and then actually print that pdf.
After some close looking, it seems the printing jobs are sent to the spooling area, but deleted within 1 second without actually printing.
I have already tried to reinstall the latest drivers (version 12/12/2O13) and using the HP print and scan troubleshouting. This last one gave me the green light and printed the test page without a problem.
Hopefully anyone recognises this problem? Any solutions would be very welcome.

Hi there Tom, Thanks for your reply with your information, that helps out quite a bit!
First, download (can save right on your Desktop and use whenever you run into a printing or scanning problem) and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor which will search and fix common printing problems. This alone may resolve your issue. If the issue persists, continue on to these steps. Now, I would suggest installing Windows Updates, there will be "optional" ones there as well to install. If there are many updates to be done, this could take up some time.Install Windows Updates If that doesn't seem to do the trick, I recommend a Level 3 uninstall (uninstall_l3) and reinstall of the printer software and driver. Here are the tools and steps to use.1. Uninstall - HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility2. Restart your PC3. Reinstall - HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows Hopefully the issue will dissipate after the level 3 uninstall and reinstall. If not, here is a link to Adobe to troubleshoot PDF printing problems.Troubleshoot PDF printing | Acrobat, Reader If you run into any other issues, please let me know. Adobe Reader 9.0 not printing

Cannot use Adobe Reader 9.1.3 to print. Tried to uninstall to start over and then get message " This patch pakage cannot be opened. Verify that patch exists........" Not stupid but also not tech savy enough to know what to do. Help and thank you.

It has never been supported. If this is the worst thing that happens,
be very happy.
Almost all modern software needs to be installed properly on each
machine to work properly. Large enterprises deal with this by using
deployment tools. Unfortunately the information on deployment for the
new Reader are not yet released.

Reader version 9 not opening some files: error "insufficient data for an image"

Adobe reader version 9 is having difficulties opening PDF's, mainly with PDF's that contain charts or jpg's.
When using Google Chrome browser, I get the message "insufficient data for an image."
I am using windows XP. When I open these same PDF's using Internet Explorer, they display fine, but some of them don't print, and cause the printing spooler to malfunction, i.e., the print spooler begins turning itself off repeatedly, and then I can't print anything from any program. This print spooler problem is really difficult to solve. But I think all of this is originating from some inability of the current version of Adobe to handle some PDF's, which is a recent phenomenon. I've never had problems like this before with previous versions.

I've had the same problem then it got "magically" fixed by itself. A big thanks to Adobe for their updates
