Reader X - Floating Toolbar in Browser not functional

Using Reader X in "recent" Firefox version and IE 9 with Windows 7. When viewing a PDF in either browser, none of the icons in the floating toolbar respond. The cursor arrow changes shape during the rollover of the icons, but clicking on them (print, save, page up/down, etc) yields no response whatsoever. Any ideas? Behavior is with 2 of 2 browsers and all websites tested. Isolated to a single user. Thanks!

I read the very long thread at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3295855#3295855 discussing the exact problem with Reader X and an older version of Firefox.  Although several comments mentioned changing the zoom level to 100% from something greater, I initially thought they were referring to the zoom within the Reader window.  When I finally realized that they were referring to the display properties, I changed that back to 100% and the controls now work.
Although this problem has been happening to me on a custom-built rig, my display is a Dell U2412M.  I think at least one other commenter in the other thread mentioned Dell, so perhaps the problem is with the Dell display driver -- where increasing the magnification causes Adobe to "see" mouse presence someplace other than where it actually is.  Strage -- and this behavior doesn't appear to affect other apps..
The solution in comment 116 by solution_finder_123 works!!!.  Right-click on the shortcut to Reader in the Win 7 Start Menu and select "Disable display scaling on high DPS settings" on Compatibility tab.

How to read the Cookies of the browser of any domain in global.html for building the Safari Extension on Windows

Okay. Let's check to see if this is a user-account-specific issue, or if it is systemwide. (It's not a cure in itself, but it might give us a heads-up on the cause of the issue.)
Go into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights.
Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Now launch safari in the new account, do a bit of browsing, and close Safari. Open Safari again. Do cookies survive in the new account?

  • N97 Browser not functioning

Not having changed any of the settings i was upset to find when opening the web browser it freezes and if left for a minute will exit. Before it connects to the wireless router there's a small amount of time where i can get into settings but everything seems to be as it should. After that the whole thing freezes.
Applications which need the internet to function work perfectly fine (bbc iplayer and twitter) so there's no problem with the router. If anyone else has had a similar experience or knows of any fixes please help

  • File browser not functioning correctly in some programs...

I'm not sure if I can blame this on Finder, but I am pretty sure it is related. If it's not, please point me in the right direction. =)
When in various programs, via the browser for opening a file or adding an image, etc. a certain directory (on a network drive) is showing several files that don't exist, and won't display the live contents of that folder. It looks as though it's showing a cached view of that folder. Is there some way to clear this cache, or have it update its view?
The problem is NOT present when using Adobe Photoshop CS2, and Adobe Illustrator(my understanding is these use their own cache/browser,) but IS present when using some other Adobe software.
It is ALWAYS happening in MS software(word, powerpoint,) Quark, as well as other programs made by different vendors. The fact that it happens in software made by different vendors has me thinking it's an Apple-related or Finder-related issue rather than that software specifically.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • How does Adobe XI floating toolbar in google chrome pdf allow toolbar to appear?

Previous versions of the floating toolbar had a Home icon which allowed access to the traditional toolbar (please see example below)
Note: Read mode is the default viewing mode when you open a PDF in a web browser.
The current floating toolbar version does not seem to have this functionality.

Yes it does - but if you're seeing this floating toolbar:
then the PDF is being displayed in Chrome's internal viewer. Type "chrome://plugins/" in the address bar, scroll down to the Chrome PDF option and enable Adobe Reader instead:

  • The USB port on my 4th generation Airport Extreme does not recognize any peripheral devices whatsoever.  In other words, it does not function at all.  What can I do?

I have had my Airport Extreme for almost a year now.  I have not been able to get it to work.  It has never worked.  I have tried everything in the apple manuals, my peripheral device manuals, and online help.  My Airport Extreme Base Station has a completely dead USB port.  The USB connector does have voltage and ground.  Apparently there is no data transfer.  I do not know how to test the data pinouts.  I don't know if it is a software or driver problem, or if it is a hardware or wiring problem.  My computer is a mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro.  All of my external devices work well with the MacBook Pro.  The USB functionality on the MacBook Pro has always performed without a glitch.  It seems the problem with the Airport Extreme must either be a network communication problem or a hardware/hardwire problem.  I bought the Airport Extreme to build a home inTRAnet network.  I have a seperate 3rd party router for inTERnet.  Contrary to what the manuals declare, the initial setup of my Airport Extreme requires inTERnet setup during the process.  Even when the choice is made to limit the network access to LAN only, when I reach the end of the setup process, a prompts reads that the Airport Extreme may not function because I have not set it up for inTERnet with the WAN.  Well, Dah...  during the intial stages of the setup I told the machine to configure an inTRAnet only LAN setup.  So...  I went ahead and set it up for inTERnet and WAN.  Either way, the USB port is not working.  Then I set it up for the whole package, WAN, LAN, and everything.  Still... no function out of the USB port.  Any ideas?
P.S.  The Ethernet works and so does the 802.11 tranceiver.  The USB port is the only problem, but a major, major one for my needs.  There is no peripheral functionality.

Okay so I figured it out.  I inherited the Configurator already set up so I didn't realize that our former administrator was brilliant and set things up a little differently.  To anyone else who finds themselves in this spot try this:
After you plug the iPad in and open Configurator instead of trying to 'Prepare' the device click 'Assign'
There should be groups of Users listed on the left hand side of the screen.
Select the group you want the ipad to be a part of, or make a new group. ***Note a group can be one person so this is a good feature for teachers to have individual app assignements for students.
After you select the user group click the little plus ( + ) button on the bottom of the screen under the second column of info where names and device serial numbers should appear.
Type the name of the person, group, whatever you want to identify that assignment by into the blank that pops up after you hit the plus ( + )
Then select the assignment you just made and tohe 'Check Our' button at the bottom.  At this point a box will pop up with a window at the top listing all devices supervised by Configurator.  There is a tiny down arrow button that opens a scroll down menu to the right of this box.  Click that, then select the device connected by USB as the one to assign.
The name of the assignment you gave it will show on the lock screen now and you can assign apps and profiles to the device like you would any other device in your Configurator inventory.
    Good Luck.

  • Dock floating toolbar permanently in my browser

I would like to dock the floating toolbar permanently so that when I open a pdf in my browser I just have the toolbars and do not have to click on a floating one to get it out of the way.  Is there a way to do this?
    Soapbox Rant:
It is a most annoying view, this very large obnoxious bar always popping in and out in the middle of my documents.  It is also an enhancement to carpal tunnel syndrome.  It is quite obvious that developers (not only of Reader X) have come up with a new way to increase our workload or have no concept of that an extra drag and mouseclick is repetitious work.  At least they did not go as far as Microsoft to force us to look at a huge ribbon that sucks up valuable screen space with features no one mostly uses.  Where has the concept of simple user interface control being in the hands of the user gone?

You can download the ''full'' installer from the following page:

(Make sure the word "Stub" is not in the suggested file name, because the stub installer needs an internet connection to download additional files.)

I suspect it has something to do with the java but not sure
Just so you'll know, there is no Java on that page.  There is, however JavaScript.  You should know that those two things are different as night and day.
To fix your problem, change this -
    function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0
      var i,x,a=document.MM_sr; for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a[i])&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc;

Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.

See if you can find a NPPDF32.DLL files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)
You can see the installed plugins on the about:plugins page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aplugins
You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

I tried many time, and it really doesn't work.
The plug-in I have is Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280

After I upgraded to Firefox 5, I had the same problem and I did a work around temporarily. I went the tools menu, then Add-ons, then clicked the "Plugins" on the left side (4th one down). I "disabled" both Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280 and Adobe Acrobat 10.1.0.536 using the disable buttons on the right side. PDF files now open again. However they are outside the actual browser.
My guess is that Adobe didn't catch up yet with a new update to work with Firefox or vice versa.
    Hope that helps!

  • Widgets Do Not Function in Browser, Only in Preview Mode.

I created a lightbox and a tabbed section on separate pages, and the wodgets do not function when I test in browser or or open html conversions in a browser. They test fine in preview mode.
    Bill
Actually, the problem seems to be Explorer. Works fine in Safari. Frequently have to insert fixes for special problems in IE. Are there any fixes for IE's peculiar problems?
Also works fine in Mozilla FF & Chrome. Mulitple problems in IE with display, and Widgets are completely non-functional.

I am referring to the attached files, which are a Muse site conversion to html. I have had problems in the past emailing web info, so if you want me to ftp the files somewhere, I can do that. These pages have not been published yet.
The two pages in question are in the file. If you open them in IE, the widgets do not function. In the index page, the text in the New & Events area to the right are Lightbox links. In the cottages page, you can see the slide show in the main middle are and the tabs on the right in the shadow box.
The side show works off and on. The lightbox (index) and tabs (cottages) do not function at all. There are no error messages. IE does not indicate working links (no finger).
As I believe you know, IE has problems displaying things that other browsers do not. Dreamweaver templates, for example, include a blockquote instruction for html5 that is needed for IE to display certain items properly. Since the pages will function normally in Safari, Mozilla FF and Google Chrome, I conclude there is a problem with IE.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    William Gunn

  • Hiding the floating toolbar acrobat reader x

    Hello
We have developed software that displays pdf documents on the screen for validation by the user before printing. We need to be able to manage the "print" action within our software and with the new floating toolbar this has become impossible. I can find no trace anywhere on the net of how to display documents without the floating toolbar other thn by configuring each of our client installations which is not an option.
    Can anyone help ?
    Many thanks

    Hi Dave
Thank you very much for such a prompt and courteous reply.
My enquiry was prompted by our having to revisit a range of products we
developed using Adobe Director and the INM Impressario Xtra. We are very
excited by the potential of AIR, Acrobat X Portfolios and Flash Builder but
rather shame-faced for having come to them rather late. No matter, better
    late than never.
Your explanation is very helpful as it will help us offer explanations to
our clients. I am sure they can be persuaded given the larger benefits.
    Yours
    Ian
