Reader X - Hiding toolbars, etc

In previous versions of Reader, I could hide the Reader toolbars, etc by adding this to the link that loads the PDF:
#toolbar=0&navpanes=0&scrollbar=1
This worked if the user had the "Allow documents to hide the menu bar, toolbars, and window controls" preference checked. This no longer seems to work with Reader X.
Any ideas?
- Nathan

Actually, here's the weird thing...if I just use one of the parameters:
#toolbar=0
it does hide that one element in Reader X. But if I put multiple parameters together:
#navpanes=0&toolbar=0
it doesn't hide either element in Reader X.
Actually, if I type in #toolbar=0&navpanes= the toolbar won't show up and the navbar will. But as soon as I add the 0 to navpanes: #toolbar=0&navpanes=0 both elements show up.

  • Adobe Reader X - basic toolbar (ie page location, magnification, etc)

    Hi all,
I just switched over to Adobe X due to the "search function" issue going on with the lastest Adobe Reader version.
Can someone tell me how to display the traditional "toolbar" in Adobe X?  I'm talking about the toolbar for searching for a word, or jumping to a page number, or increasing or decreasing the magification %.  I use those functions all the time...and can't find a way to get it now.
I run Window 7 on my pc.
Thanks so much for the help!!!

I don't believe you answered the question. I have the same problem in that when I upgraded to Reader X my Toolbar disappeared and you responded to my post with a fix. Last week I installed updates to both Acrobat 8 and Reader X and in the process lost my toolbar and the floating toolbar. After "repairing" both Reader and Acrobat numerous times I find that at least the floating toolbar is back and F8 will of course deliver the traditional fixed, top of the page toolbar, but only for that specific open document. When I open a new document (from the web) I must F8 to get my traditional toolbar back. Below are the settings I am using to achieve this (I have tried every combination to try and make this work). Any help to get my toolbar back is very much appreciated.

OSX now crashes every hour. For no obvious reason or trigger, suddenly OSX apps like Dock, desktops, launchpad, finder, toolbar, etc become unresponsive, although sometimes non OSX apps (like Chrome, TextMate, etc) remain functioning briefly, before the whole thing hangs and needs a hard reboot.
It is not apparent what I do to provoke the crash -- it happens while I am in seemingly any application, sometimes just reading a page and not taking any actions.
This started happening very suddenly two days ago. It might have happened around the time I updated ITunes but I'm not sure of this at all. And I never use ITunes or have it open.
Don't know how to diagnose the problem since nothing is accessible whence it freezes up on me.  I tried software update, but problem continued after. Would appreciate troubleshooting advice. Thanks!

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Display PDF Dokument in HTML control with Adobe Reader X - hide toolbar

    Hello,
I am reading a document from a content repository via Archive Link Interface. I get the content by the function module SCMS_HTTP_GET. Afterwards the content will be displayed in a html control in the method SHOW_URL  in class
CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER by calling the url SAPR3://SAPR3CMS/get/012/XX/0050568700A51EE0BDC6F305DFEDDF57/ with the following code.
    CALL METHOD call_method
       EXPORTING
         method  = 'ShowUrl'
         p_count = 2
         p1      = url
         p2      = frame
       IMPORTING
         RESULT  = m_result.
If I had a standard url like http//:...test.pdf it would be possible to hide the Adobe Reader X toolbar by the additional command &#toolbar=0
The SAP url SAPR3://SAPR3CMS/get/012/XX/0050568700A51EE0BDC6F305DFEDDF57/&#toolbar=0 is not working. Can anybody give me a hint how to get the toolbar hidden?
    Thanks and regards

  • Has anyone hidden the browser toolbars etc. via the UI screen?.

I'm trying to implement a development feature (only) so that on pressing a button I can display as much of the screen as possible by disabling the browser toolbars etc. By doing this I can gain at least three extra rows on the screen, and I suspect there other things that can be removed to reveal more of the screen. I'm currently using CRM 2007 and I'm getting a little miffed with having to keep scrolling down the screen to view SLA info etc., when it could all easily fit the screen.
    Anyone?.

    Thanks Kevin,
I'm going to come back to this later as it might be an option that we want to retain for the users, however,  in the meantime I'll use a Windows macro tool to control this. Finding the right macro tool is a real chore though as they all advertise to be free but then you find that you have to pay for them. Finding an open source and portable one (administrator rights not required) is even  harder, but I'll get one eventually.
There is an add-in for both IE and Firefox called i-Macro, but unfortunately it requires Administration access to install. Doh!, the same hurdle hit again and again. Why someone would allocate a laptop to anyone and not give them admin access is beyond me. After all they will just completely blitz the laptop and re-install the OS when it is returned.
It does sound like I can do this via some kind of HTML or java code within the BSP. I may investigate this later.
    With regards
    Gary

  • Opening Browser Window from Hotspot without Browser Toolbars, etc

    Hi Guys
    Can you help please.
I have a map with some ponds. I've made hotspots for these ponds to open separate pages with some images and info but I really don't need the page to display the toolbars and favorites, etc. I have gone into behaviors and set them to open the browser as I want when I click on the hotspot. Fine. The trouble is it also opens a full browser window as well! Can anyone point me to hoe and where I can set the behaviors so I get only one browser window, without the toolbars, etc?
    Thanks & regards,
    Graham

  • Adobe Reader X (latest) Toolbar problems

One of the users at the company I work at has a particularly odd issue.  Every time he opens Reader X the toolbar is configured to a default.  The odd thing is this isn't the default that Adobe has. If I make changes and then restart Reader, it defaults back to the original toolbar.  If I delete the registry items for Reader, on first run it goes back to the default adobe toolbar but on second run it goes back to that default.  He does use a add-on called FileOpen but other than that it's about as standard an installation as it can get.
Is there any way to clear the settings for the toolbar so it's no longer locked to those toolbar settings?

  • Clutter free reading mode. (hiding the tool bars etc.)

So I've been using this addon called Clearly from Evernote. It works great I'm happy with it.
But other thing is I want a fully clutter free reading mode.
Such as the one in Adobe Reader, ctrl+h and you're left alone with the text only. No toolbars, no menus nothing.
Is there anyway to do this in Firefox?
I checked out other reader mode addons but they're just like Clearly.

    Hi emrecnl,
you can just go into full screen mode. Here's an article for how that's done: [[How to make Firefox and websites go full screen]]. That will still show you at least the tab bar though. If you want to get rid of everything, there is an add-on for that: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/FF_Fullscreen/?src=search

  • Hiding Toolbar from Reader

Does anyone know how to remove/hide the tool bar from user when they open a PDF document ?
I want to prevent the user from Printing to a file, or to save the file ...
    Thx

    Hi Michael,
Thx for the feedback. Actually i want to block the user from doing anything except read the PDF. No printing, saving, etc... I can block all the right click, and key short cut thru GPO.
This article is showing how to remove the tool bar.

Does this really work - by just placing some JS inside the Reader folder ?  Am i missing something ?

  • Everything (toolbars etc.) except the title "Mozilla Firefox" is wanished when I open Firefox, do you know how to get it all back? Thanks

Hello, after opening the Firefox on my dad's laptop, he can't see anything except the title "Mozilla Firefox". There is no toolbar, no "File, Edit, View etc." icons, so he just can't do anything. He even can't fill the gap for a net address. Perhaps there's some "F.." key for getting back to common run? It's likely he's pushed some of these. Thank you for your help in advance. Zuzana

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • Reader X - Floating Toolbar in Browser not functional

Using Reader X in "recent" Firefox version and IE 9 with Windows 7. When viewing a PDF in either browser, none of the icons in the floating toolbar respond. The cursor arrow changes shape during the rollover of the icons, but clicking on them (print, save, page up/down, etc) yields no response whatsoever. Any ideas? Behavior is with 2 of 2 browsers and all websites tested. Isolated to a single user. Thanks!

    Report
I read the very long thread at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3295855#3295855 discussing the exact problem with Reader X and an older version of Firefox.  Although several comments mentioned changing the zoom level to 100% from something greater, I initially thought they were referring to the zoom within the Reader window.  When I finally realized that they were referring to the display properties, I changed that back to 100% and the controls now work.
Although this problem has been happening to me on a custom-built rig, my display is a Dell U2412M.  I think at least one other commenter in the other thread mentioned Dell, so perhaps the problem is with the Dell display driver -- where increasing the magnification causes Adobe to "see" mouse presence someplace other than where it actually is.  Strage -- and this behavior doesn't appear to affect other apps..
The solution in comment 116 by solution_finder_123 works!!!.  Right-click on the shortcut to Reader in the Win 7 Start Menu and select "Disable display scaling on high DPS settings" on Compatibility tab.

  • Embedding Local PDFs and hiding toolbars

I'm trying to hide the toolbar on a PDF document embedded in an HTML file.
The syntax I'm using is (some variant of)
        <embed scr="file.pdf#toolbar=0" width="100" height="100"></embed>
    or
        <object type="application/pdf" data="file.pdf#toolbar=0" width="100" height="100"></object>
The toolbar always shows whether with IE (6, 7) or FF (2, 3)
However it does work is the pdf file is not local :
       <embed scr="http://somewhere.com/file.pdf#toolbar=0" width="100" height="100"></embed>
The html file itself is local, it's a help file. It's meant to be distributed and read off-line.
I've tried every trick I could think of (src="file://  ,  scr="cid: ) to no avail. If the file is local, the toolbar does show.
Same goes for navbar zoom view etc.
    Any pointers, tricks, suggestions ?
    Thanks is advance,
    Pierre.

You can only use the parameter with a URL like: http://somewhere.com/file.pdf
Thanks for your prompt answer; I gather from its terseness that there are no easy workarounds.
I looked into 'javascripting' around the issue. My javascript competence is close to nil !
What I could not figure out is wether I could access the toolbar properties from 'outside', ie. from the enclosing HTML of from within, ie. from a script embedded into the pdf file itself.
Anyone has samples/snippets they'd care to share ?

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.

  • Problem hiding userid etc in cookie using 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports

    Hi
    Background
I am new to 10.1.2.0.2 Forms and Reports and also to Application Server - though not to Oracle forms and reports. We are currently converting from 6i.
Due to security concerns we would very much like to use the FrmReportsInteg Bean (or like) to hide userid connect string in a temporary and encrypted cookie when trying to run a report from a form (and the report has a report parameter screen that we want to display).
Firstly I have to decide how we are going to use reports via the Developer Suite -for development work. Then I have to work out how to do it via the Application Server - for testing and production. So if you have two variations of any solutions - one for DS and one for AS, could you give both please?
    Problem
Problem is that I cannot get the bean to work. I get report parameter form displaying ok, hit submit and then get the Database User Authentication window poppling up with the "REP-51018: Need database user authentication" error that I've noticed a few other people in this forum have had too. If the user id etc is then entered in this window, the report parameter form redisplays (from a second html) and submitting this causes the report to display. Don't like the Database User Authentication window poppling up and don't like the second parameter form - html for this has the userid etc in it.
For me though I can't even get the bean to output any logs. Got any ideas to help me at least output some logs?
Also do I have to do anything to the browser (IE6) to get it to read the cookies?
Do I need to change the bean code for the DS in some way - eg to avoid using domain name (as I noticed in another thread)?
My code exactly follows the whitepaper and I also carefully followed the instructions for adding the bean to the form and configuring the forms services - as per white paper.
    Looking forward to some answers
