Reader X not Uninstalling during Acrobat X Installation

I'm deploying Acrobat X to systems that already have Reader X installed. I'm using the Adobe Customization Wizard X to create a Transform that includes the option to "Remove previous version of Reader". The note next to it says
Note: Removes any existing installation of Acrobat Reader 6.0 or later during this install.
When I deploy Acrobat X with this Transform, Reader X does not get uninstalled. Is it because the installer will only remove 'Acrobat Reader' and not just 'Adobe Reader'?

You are right Sandy_ocda.  It can not remove the same version (i.e. Reader X) but can remove any previous versions of Reader.
In order to achieve installing Acrobat X and uninstalling Reader X, you can refer to this solution, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/903091

The Printer device, Adobe PDF, does not install when an acrobat installation is run on Windows XP 32. No errors are given, the device simply isn't installed.
Help is appreciated, as this is a problem for our software deployment.

    >Alternatively, is there any way to install Adobe PDF -AFTER- Acrobat is installed?
No, it's part of the install. You probably need to give many more
details, since for almost everyone, the Adobe PDF printer does just
    appear.

  • System does not boot during Hyper V installation

    Hi -

boot it flashes a message "The last windows installation did not complete please install the setup". Does this mean that my existing 8.1 OS has crashed ? how can i come out of this and recover my data ?

  • "ERROR disk not found" during boot cdrom installation

We were booting a T4-4 server from a Solaris 10 boot ISO and command I used was "boot rcdrom - install as nowin" (i was mounting the ISO using the serial redirection window etc, hence the rcdrom)
It worked great asking for the" language to be installed" and "network setting and etc."
then it starts communicating with the jump server to pick up the jumpstart script and etc still working great. but when it start to install, it returned with "ERROR no disk found"
I am sure there are two 600G disk on the server. not sure why it think there is no disk during the installation. googled it and some said something related to raid and i cannot get a conclusion.

  • Comments generated in Reader X not viewable by Acrobat 7?

    Hi folks,
I've got a case of a collaborator using the full version of Acrobat 7 to read a PDF that was annotated using Reader X. They claim to be unable to read the comments.
I don't have Acrobat 7 but I do have Acrobat 9 and I was unable to replicate the problem. I suspect this may be a red herring and that the problem may simply be PDF corruption.
Has anyone experienced this before? I can't share the PDF because it contains confidential information.
    Thanks!

I tried to replicate the issue with PDFs annotated in Reader 10.1.2 and opened with Acrobat Pro 7.1.4 and could not reproduce the problem. Could you please share the details of what latest versions of Acrobat and Reader  your collaborator is running and whether you are experiencing the problem with some particular type of annotations ?

  • Adobe Reader "Adobe PDF Reader" Addon not installing when Using MSI Installer.

I'm trying to do a silent install of Adobe Reader - and I notice that when I use the EXE installer, with no manual configuration, I have the "Adobe PDF Reader" Addon in Internet Explorer (IE11).
When Installing the MSI - With or without a transform, I do not get the addon. I get a "PDF Link Helper" but no PDF Reader addon. Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi geoffubazi,
The 'Adobe PDF Reader' Addon should install even if you run the .msi file.
Check under the Add on option- 'Run without permission' as shown in the screen shot below and it will list the 'Adobe PDF Reader' Add on

  • Reader 11 not uninstalling previous versions when installed via GPO MSI

I donwloaded the Reader 11 msi, patched it to 11.0.1, then with the version 11 customization wizard told it uninstall previous versions of Reader. When I push the transformed msi via a gpo it installs 11 and all of the other setting I set in the transform, like suppress EULA are applied, but Reader 10 still exists after the install.

We are deploying Acrobat XI to Windows 7 clients and a percentage of them fail to execute Exception Deployer successfully and are returning the 1603 return code. • HDD not detected during Windows 8 installation in UEFI

ok well this is a little complicated to explain so m gonna summarize it as much as possible.
i have a HP Sleekbook 15-B002xx which came with a windows 8 OS installed already. due to some reasons, i tried to shift it back to windows 7. After many unsuccessful tries, i finally managed to install windows 7 by changing my boot sequence to Legacy Boot.
later on, due to lack of drivers for win 7, i installed, rather upgraded to win 8 which was running on legacy boot (using MBR if im not wrong). now, i want to install a fresh copy of win 8 with UEFI but the problem is when i change my boot sequence to disable
legacy boot, then during installation of win 8, i cannot see my HDD :(... im using a flash drive to install win 8 which is already in UEFI (i used diskpart for that).
also, when i use legacy boot and try to install windows, then the HDD appears and when i format the HDD and create new partitions, it creates 3 partitions (System, MSR, Reserved) and the fourth one for OS. i tried installing the windows like this but after
install, when i change the boot sequence to UEFI again, it fails to boot :(
now, i want to install windows to UEFI... and i really need help with this please :(... i hope i have explained the scenario... if anyone would like to ask anything, please do :(... as i really need to get this away... and also, i'd like to ask that how can
i check if my HDD has been changed from MBR to GTP?
im not that much expert with this stuff so i hope i have used the terminologies right... awaiting answer people :(..
    Thanx in advance

    Dear Sir,
Even i faced the same problem ad finally by the grace of God got it solved Here is how i did it
Boot the Laptop in UEFI Mode
    1) Download intel storage technology driver 11.7 or higher
2)copy this extracted zip file to a Fat32 formatted usb
    3)now install windows
When it reaches the dialog box where it asks the users to select the drive in which the os needs to be installed
you will see a load driver option beneath that
browse to the folder where the driver that you have downloaded is present and press next
After the execution of the following step you should be able to see the drives present and now you can proceed with the normal installation.
Hope i have solved you problem.
    Regards,
    Melvin

  • New rMBP 13" - Trackpad/Keyboard not working during Win7 Bootcamp Installation

    Hi,
I bought the new rMBP 13" 2 weeks ago and now wanted to install Win7 on an extra partition. Using the Bootcamp Assistant, I created a bootable USB drive to install. However, when booting the USB drive and getting to the first installation screen (asking for language), I don't have a cursors to select anything. Also the keyboard is not working. I thought the Win7 might lack some drivers, but I even a different Win7 distribution (64bit) but it still wasn't working. Does anyone have an idea what I could do to fix it? Obviously, not everyone has this issue.
    Thanks!

Have you upgraded your EFI firmware -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1704?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US?

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional - will not uninstall

I tried to install this program with Windows 7, 64-bit numerous times and it would not work 100%.  I even downloaded the "patch" file for windows 7, but the program would freeze every single time I opened it.  I have since reverted back to just using Adobe reader, but CANNOT uninstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.  The uninstall completely freezes about 60-65% of the way through, and I just end up closing it down.  However, I cannot install any new software on my computer because the installer application keeps saying that another program is being installed (Adobe) when in actuallity it is NOT!
Pleeease provide any help as to how I can uninstall this program.  The program is still listed when I got to the control panel and uninstall a program.  I have tried Modify, Repair, & Remove all unsuccessfully.  I have deleted all files from the C: drive except the "Resource" folder, which I keep getting Folder Access Denied and that I "require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder."  Well, I am the administrator and the ONLY user on my computer, so I don't know what that is all about.  I am beyond frustration with this, the microsoft forum told me to check here for assistance.

    Hi meanwire,
    I had a similar problem .
Here is the solution that worled for me. try it out:
    1. Install Acrobat 8.0  (which i think you have already done)
    2. Now go to the following link and download Acrobat 8.1 update
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3662
    3. Apply the downloaded 8.1 update manually
    4. Once the manual update is successful launch Acrobat and do Acrobat menu Help ->Check for updates
    Hope it works for you!!

  • Installed Acrobat Pro and uninstall Reader does not work defaults back to Reader

I've installed Acrobat Pro, after installing Acrobat Reader.  After I uninstall Reader and click on a PDF file, it automatically opens it in Reader.  I've clicked Acrobat 9 as my preferred software, but next time, it reverts back to opening in Reader.  I'm using a lenovo Yoga laptop with Windows 8.1.

Thank you very much for your reply.  This didn't work.  As you can tell, this is not a high priority for me, just annoying that I have to uninstall Reader every time I open a PDF.  It will open in Acrobat after that, 'til I shut down my laptop.
Here's the order:  I installed Acrobat Reader.  Then I installed Acrobat Pro.  Then I uninstalled Acrobat Reader.  But when I click on a PDF file, it reopens in Acrobat Reader (I don't use Microsoft Reader - at least on purpose!)  Somehow Acrobat Reader is not completely uninstalling and reactivates.  Our computer consultant tried to fix it, but couldn't.   He said he thot some of his research showed this was a problem in Windows 8 and 8.1?
I just tried going into Programs in the Control Panel and Acrobat Pro 9 only shows Uninstall/Change, not Repair.  However, I clicked through and got to Repair.  Tried that (which I've actually done before) and still didn't work.

  • When I click PDF file, the file does not open and  installation software for creative suite automatically begin to start. Even after re-installation of creative suite 5.5, only acrobat reader dose not work and the same phenomena occurs.

When I click PDF file, the file does not open and  installation software for creative suite automatically begin to start. Even after re-installation of creative suite 5.5, only acrobat reader dose not work and the same phenomena occurs.

Did you ever install Acrobat? It is not installed automatically with CS, but requires an extra installation step.

  • Installation fails with user is not an administrator Acrobat XI Pro Win ESD

After several attempts to install Acrobat XI Pro Win ESD, each try failing at the same step. The error message indicates that the user is not an administrator. This is not true.
I have uninstalled Adobe reader, restarted, and installed again, resulting in the same failure. System OS, Win 7
    Any ideas?

I and many other people have successfully installed in Win 7 and Win 8 without issue, so something specific with your system is the cause. Run the Acrobat cleaner to remove anything left over from previous attempts.
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
Then make sure that all extraneous software is turned off. No virus or spyware protection, nothing running in the background that you don't need to have running. I haven't tried in Windows 8, but in Windows 7:
    click on the start menu
in the Search panel type: msconfig
See if you can install during a Safe boot. If something is necessary for installation that is not available during a Safe boot,
then look Startup Processes and turn off what you can, reboot and try again.

  • Fingerprint Reader Not Detected during startup on Windows 7

    Dear Community Users/Tech Guru,
I am hoping somebody could shed light into a weired issue I am facing with this *stupid* Microsoft OS. I purchased a T400 last year and brought a x64 bit Windows 7 three months ago and have it setup for clean installation. I followed the procedure published in lenovo.
I had the security setup of my notebook to use pre-desktop authentication and single sign-on. I had everything setup and running.
However, after a few weeks I began to noticed that upon power up and giving a fingerprint swipe on the bios authentication, it would halt on the windows startup page (where we would normally login). It turns out that the fingerprint device is not detected! Something is not workin properly during the startup of bill gates Microsoft Windows 7! I would try a reboot on the system and it will load properly afterwards.
But I find it stupid that Windows doesn't detect my fingerprint device on startup! This happens when it's a cold boot using a battery (at least 70% of the time it turns out that way). I disabled  the single sign-on but retained the desktop authentication (means I have to swipe twice). But this f*ck OS is still not detecting it during cold start.
    Anyone... please advice?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I attempted to reset the policy settings of CSS but then the pop up screen just got stuck:
    - I did a reboot and reset the fingerprint data and password (after exporting the
      settings),
    - uninstalled the fingerprint reader and CSS
    - uninstalled the CSS. I had encountered some issues while uninstalling it
Windows is reporting that the installation log file could not be found. I manually
downloaded the driver from the site and used the installer to remove it from my PC
    - Reinstalled both CSS and Fingerprint driver
    - Import all my security settings (password and fingerprint)
    - Tested CSS and used fingerprint as default login method in battery mode
    - Enabled Single SignIn method in CSS and BIOS
So far so good, the reinstallation fixed the issue. I did recall that there was a windows update before this mayhem on the fingerprint reader started.
