Reader X: PDF image in Crystal Report shrinks

Hi
Have a Crystal Reports XI R2 report which includes in the report an OLE object linked to a PDF file.
Since users have upgraded from Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X, the PDF image displayed when the Crystal report is output shrinks to approximately 25% of its size.
Uninstall Reader X and reinstall Reader 9 and the PDF image appears to correct size when the Crystal Report is output.
The users needs to upgrade to Reader X.
Any ideas how to resolve this?

Thank you for the response.
I have tried this - but with no joy.
There has been some success. We are finding with some users the image output is sporadically OK size.
I wondered whether this was because I got users to print a PDF file from within Reader X first, setting size options in file>print from ‘shrink oversized pages’ to ‘actual size’. I'm uncertain about this as, although the Crystal Report with the PDF image then printed OK, it reverted back to shrunken image when printed again to the same printer - and seems to switch between successful print (image the correct size) and unsuccessful print (image appears shrunken). Also with one user it is always OK when printed to one printer.

  • Inserting images in Crystal Reports

    Hello,
    I have two questions regarding the use of pictures in a Crystal report :
    1. Is there a maximum dpi resolution limit for pictures to be inserted in a Crystal Reports.
    2. Is there a way to control the PDF output picture quality ? When exporting to PDF, the quality of the picture is reduced.
    Thank you
    Anthony

    I have the following questions about inserting images into Crystal Reports:
    1.  Can the images be positioned horizontally?
    2. When there is more that one image attached to a database record, can the number of images be limited in the report?
      (For example, limit the number of images for each record to two.)
    3. If there is more than one page to a record, how can the image for the record be suppressed on all pages subsequent to the first page of the report?
    4.  If there is no image attached to the database record, how the space reserved for the image closed up?
    Thank you.

  • Thumbnail images in crystal report XI R2

    Please help on how to show thumbnail images in crystal report XI R2 using Oracle datbase.We are storing the images in database using image location ex:http:

    Crystal does not have the bility to use thunbnails. But that would be a great enhancement. I'll add it to the Enhancement request database.

  • Converting a binary string into a JPEG image in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi Gang
    Iu2019m having problems converting a binary string into an image in Crystal Reports 2008
    I have JPEG images stored in ECC.  ECC stores the data in binary format.
    Iu2019m using the ECC function module SKWF_PHIO_CONTENT_ACCESS_GET to retrieve the data.  This function module has an export table, FILE_CONTENT_BINARY, which returns several lines of data.  Each line contains a maximum of 1,024 characters.
    When I drop the T_ FILE_CONTENT_BINARY.LINE field into my Crystal Report detail section, I wind up with a report that displays all the lines in FILE_CONTENT_BINARY table.  (in my case, 19 lines are displayed.)
    I created a formula to collect all the data into a single string.
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar data:= data & {SKWF_PHIO_CONTENT_ACCESS_GET.T_FILE_CONTENT_BINARY.LINE}
    I added the formula to the detail section and itu2019s doing a great job collecting the data.
    I then inserted a picture object in the report footer, opened the format editor, navigated to the u201Cpictureu201D tab, and inserted a formula for the u201Cgraphics locationu201D.
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar data:=data;
    data
    My clever idea turned out to be a disappointment . . . . my picture object is blank.
    Does anyone have a solution for converting a binary string into a JPEG image?

    Save the JPEG in a format CR supports. Refer to the help file for the file types.

  • Images with Crystal Reports

    Somebody pls. advise if it's possible to display images with Crystal Reports ?!
    I want to generate a Price Catalog with images.   I have uploaded images into the system.
    Unfortunately, Oracle Report Builder has let me down.
    A short tutorial on how to achieve this will be useful as i am still trying to get acquainted with CR.

    Hi..
    I saw your snap shot, in your snap shot you are selecting table fields.  The option is much before selecting table fields.
    Like :
    a. Select Standard Report wizard
    b. It ask you to connect to your datasource (ODBC / OLE DB /Native)
    c.Once you connect to your database you will see below options
       - Your Database Name
          Add Command
          Tables
          Views
          Stored Procedures
    Here you need to select Add Command and it will opend a window to type your sql.

  • Images in Crystal Report

    I wonder if there is any way to display the images in exactly the same dimensions as it was originally saved that is if the image s saved it should display as small and if big it should display as a big image

    One of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Desktop Schedulers listed at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides a solution for your use scenario.
    It allows you to automate the process of exporting a report to pdf and then inserting images based on directives provided by Crystal formulas.

  • Dynamic images in crystal reports for VS 2008

    The company logo scenario. The solution I'm trying unsuccessfully to implement entails:
    - the logo is not stored in the database, but resides locally on disk
    - strongly typed dataset generated by stored proc in sql server 2008
    - column defined in a dataset table as sqldatatype.binary, null value
    - populate dataset in .net by calling the proc
    - edit the byte[] column and replace null with a binary image
    - push the data into the report
    - print the report to pdf from a web application
    Everything works fine, no errors, but if I try and display the blob in the crystal report, nothing prints. If I remove the blob without modifying any of the above code, everything prints (all tables/rows).
    I have tried cloning the dataset and substituting the binary file into the appropriate column, thinking that the original might be READONLY, but the same result (prints perfectly if I don't try and show the blob).
    Robert

    Hi Don,
    I have read your response 10 times, but I don't really understand it.
    "Your only option is to use the Insert OLE Object or picture into the report" - fine, but how is this achieved from a dataset?
    "CR will not display BLOB fields as pictures" - fine, but maybe I used the word BLOB badly. The dataset column datatype is "byte[]". Will CR display byte[] columns as pictures?
    "You can use a database field to point to which picture file to use, then you won't be using up valuable memory space importing the images into your data set. And the Logo's now dynamic...." - this seems to suggest that the database field is a string storing the file location on disk. Yes? I don't care about memory space in this case and I'm happy to load a binary file into a byte[] column if there is a way of displaying it.
    So, if I understand correctly, you're suggesting the dataset contain a table.row.column which stores the filelocation. How do I convert that to display as a picture (dynamically)?

    First: I created a New Column ("Image") in a datatable of the dataset and change the DataType to System.Byte()
    Second : Drag And drop this image Filed Where I want.

    DataTable dt = GetImageRow(table, "Footer.Jpg");
    report.SetDataSource(dt);
    crv1.ReportSource = report;

    By this Function I merge My Image data into dataTable
    private DataTable GetImageRow(DataTable dt, string ImageName)
    try

  • How can I dynamically center an image in Crystal Reports?

    Hi! I'm using Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2008 R2 and Crystal Reports 13_0_11.
    I have a database full of images type image in SQL Server. Every image has diferent width.
    I create a report with Crystal Reports and a Dataset and does everything that I want. But I can't horinzotal align the image, in the property window, the horizontal align option is disable, I don't know why... and I don't know what to do...
    Please help me with how can I center the images or how can I enable the option...

  • Need help with adding formatted text and images to Crystal Report?

    Here's my scenario:
    I have a customer statement that's generated as a crystal report and that has a placeholder for advertisement. The advertisement is mixture of formatted text and images. Until now we only had one advertisement that was always used on the report. The new requirement is that we would have a pool of hundreds of advertisements and would need to display one specific advertisement on the customer statement based on various marketing criteria. They key is that the advertisement content will be determined programmatically and cannot be hardcoded into the report. I'm using Crystal2008 with .net SDK.
    Here are the solutions I thought of, but I'm still rather lost and would appreciate your help/opinion.
    1) Pass HTML or RTF to the report
    Not really sure if this is possible and how to get it done. Also how would I pass in images? Would display formatting be reliable when exporting to PDF?
    2) Create each add as a subreport and append it programatically
    I actually have this working, but I only know how to append a new section to the end of the report and then load the subreport to the section. I have no other controll of the placement. Is there a way to dynamically load a subreport to a predefined section in the main report? How about adding a dummy subreport in the main report as a placeholder and then replacing it with a different subreport? How could I do this?
    3) Pass an Image to the report
    I would create each advertisement as an image and then would somehow add the image to the report. How would I load the image and control the placement? Could I somehow define a placeholder for the image in the main report-maybe a dummy image to be replaced?
    Thank you.

    Hello Pavel,
    I would got the third way.
    You can use dynamic images in your report.
    Just by changing the URL to the image the image can be changed.
    Please see the [Crystal Manual|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2008/en/xir3_cr_usergde_en.pdf] and search for images.

  • PDF Encryption. How can I encrypt a PDF via the Crystal Report's Export?

    Hello,
    Is there a way to encrypt PDF files created via Crystal Report's export feature? We need to have such PDFs encrypted so that end users cannot copy information from them (files would be read only).
    I have researched in these Forumns and the old Business Objects' forums but could not find information on the topic. Crystal Report's online help does not provide any information either.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

  • Problems printing pdfs generated by Crystal Reports X

    The printers in our office area were recently upgraded to Xerox Work Centre 5632 printers using Managed Print Service.  We are now having issues printing reports from within the application to any of these newly defined printers.  The Arial font, which is commonly used on the majority of our report templates, is displaying as a series of squares with readable letters or numbers thrown in randomly.   I don't know if the issue is limited to Arial, or if other fonts behave similarly.  I have tried to print several different reports to several different print servers and printer combinations, all with the same result. When viewing the report online, or saving as PDF and viewing, it looks fine.  If we save the report as a PDF, then select "print as an image" (on the advanced tab of the print menu), the report will print correctly.
    Is there any way to either change the report design or a setting in Crystal Reports to prevent this from happening ? This problem did not occur when using a different printer.

    This is not a Crystal Reports issue.  It is a printer (or printer driver) issue.  Does the printer support Arial font???

    Carl
