Reader XI - AcroRd32.exe files stacking up in processes running - having to delete them manually to keep working.

Task manager shows 25 or so of AcroRd32.exe files open - taking up 100% of the computer's resources. Restart clears them out, but having to do that several times a day. Trouble shooting says to delete them manually, which is a joke. there are too many of them in the office.. One forum posted a solution that they said was from Acrobat, but reluctant to do unless it comes from you. The solution that was posted was as follows:

copy it in the windows directory
Is this legitimate? I need to fix the problem. It's hindering the work of everyone in the office.

Have you tried disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)] ?

All 8 Processors activity jumps really high while AcroRd.exe*32 is running with no pdf documents open and as soon as i end the processes the processor activity goes down to near 0 according to the performance tab in task manager. My fan also kicks on because of all the heat from the processor.

open acrord32.exe and go to edit, preferences, internet, and then uncheck "Allow fast web view" and "allow speculative downloading in the background". This will save your processor and keep your system from locking up from all of the acrord32.exe processes running.

Also I have tried authorizing my computer to play the songs I purchased off of iTunes when I had an iPhone 4 and it will not allow me to play them whatsoever. I now have an iPhone 5 and wish to load these past song purchases onto my new phone. How do I solve this issue?

what you're missing to export multiple files is the batch export command available in the file menu or by control clicking on the items in the browser. You can export multiple sequences/clips at full resolution with this.

Correct. That box is typically checked by default. There are other default settings you could change that would not result in a full-quality version, but what I meant was hitting that option from the pull-down menu, then changing nothing and hitting ok.

Adobe reader opening all Exe Files.

I believe I accidently set preferences so that all exe files are opened by adobe reader. Once I uninstalled Adobe reader all .exe files went back to normal. However on re installing Adobe reader all exe files have gone back to opening using adobe reader. When Reader was uninstalled I checked the registry for exe files and was told HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe
should have a default value of exefile, which it does and then checked HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command which must have a default value of "%1" %* which it does. I can not change the registry while adobe reader is installed as the program regedit is an exe. Is there an Adobe register which I must change or another method I can use?

Files without extensions read as UNIX exe files

I have an iMac connecting to my MacBook Pro that has several external drives attached by firewire. On those external drives the iMac sees any file without an extension as exe files. In particular, font files are seen this way.
Can I add extension to the font files (most of them postscript type 2) so that the iMac sees them as fonts rather an exe files?
Or is there a way of solving the problem that has a more broad approach?

First, ensure that Finder->Preferences->Advanced->Show all filename extensions is checked, then check those files. If the issue continues, then rebuild the LaunchServices database by running this one-line command in the Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/)—copy & paste it into the Terminal window and hit the return key:

Restart and see if that fixes the problem.

Reading/Parsing an EXE file with Java

Is there a way (in Java) to parse an EXE file and get its version, description, etc? (mostly the information in the VERSION tab inside the file properties window).

Perhaps I'll tell you what I need that for:
I got tired of rearranging my start menu and drag-n-droppin' every time I install a new program, so I wanted to create an application that scans a folder of my choice (i.e. c:/progra~1) and creates a folder in the start menu with shortcuts to all of the EXEs in the folder and in its subfolders, arranged by application name (some applications have more than one EXE, including uninstall or update programs) and usage (that I'll do at the end, basing on rules and lists I'll create from DOWNLOAD.COM, for instance). I've done everything but the usage types filtering (putting it into folders: "system", "media", "internet", etc).
So my problem was, that the shortcuts' names are ugly most of the times, and I can't tell the full name of an application just from its filename. For example, Google Earth's main EXE is "googleearth.exe". A shortcut that says "Googleearth" isn't so nice to look at. also, with this kind of name you can know what it does, but what about other filenames that don't exactly say what that file does?
I needed a way to get the -true- name of the application file, and the only way I see is through the properties, in the "Description" field under "Version".
But alas, that's not so simple :P
I thought about simply getting the name from the folder the EXE's in, but then there are more than one EXE per folder.
Any other suggestions will be great.

Reader does not open files. give and error message that it has to close. uninstall will not work.

On which OS are you working? Is your Reader updated to the latest?
If you are on Windows you can use AcroCleaner tool which will remove Reader 11 from your system.
Reboot after clean up and then try reinstall from here

Nothing happens when I download disk 2 exe file to continue installation process. Help!

I am trying to install cs2 (reinstalling). I click the disk 1 exe file with no prob, but when it says to insert disk 2, I click the exe file and it doesn't respond. I tried burning a cd and then insert the disk as prompted and still no results.

How Do I Quickly Find Music Files Not Used By iTunes So I Can Delete Them?

Hello, I have deleted many songs from my Windows iTunes library; but, the music files remain on my hard drive and are taking up space. I need to quickly and efficiently find these music files to delete them. I would prefer to not have to download another utility to accomplish this.
While I now have iTunes setup so that any future deletions will prompt me to move the music file to the recycle bin, I want to clean-up my hard drive.

How did you Migrate? On original Startup, or after starting up and creating a user.
If the latter, then you migrated data is in the migrated user's account.
If that is the case, log into the other account and move the music into the /Users/Shared folder. Then, log into the account you want to use and import the music into iTunes.
If that is not the case, please explain where your music is located.

I can't send deleted files from i movie to the trash and delete them.

I can't delete files. I bought a Lacie big quadra 4T and allmy project are saved there (mode raid1). When I’m trying to delete files theydoesn’t go to the trash bin but they are not longer in I movie. Apparently they are still in the hard drive using space.How can I delete them or send them to the trash bin of my Macbook Pro?

Okay I had the same problem but I figured it out. When you go to choose file, all the links are greyed out. Use two fingers simulatiously and click down on the file you want, then choose "quick look" from the option menu. This will open a preview of your document and make the open button usable. Close the preview, and then select the open button.
The site I was trying to use says it only supports IE, so maybe that is what causes the problem.

I recently found a folder in my trash that I never put in there labeled "recovered files" its full of xpku files. What are those? Can I delete them?! Help!

The Recovered Files folder contains temporary files that were used by applications and system processes, which were not properly released and discarded when the application was terminated. This can happen if a program unexpectedly quits, or more commonly if the system crashes in the middle of your work.

Adobe Reader corrupted my .exe files

I downloaded Adobe Reader and it changed all my program icons to Adobe icons and programs won't open. Programs try to open in Adobe Reader as .pdf files. Error messages says it is not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.

I've got this problem. It would'nt allow me to system restore so I've had to uneinstall it. Previous Version installed: 9.5.3
AcroRd32.exe - File Version 9.5.3.305
AcroRd32.dll - File version 9.5.3.305
After update installation to 9.5.4, add or remove program shows latest version but exe and dll is not updated. Vulnerability assessment tools based on file version check identifies patch is still missing. Becomes a HEAD ACHE.
Adobe Reader 9 > Help > About Adobe Reader 9 - First shows version 9.5.4, if your click on it instead of showing AGM version next it shows version 9.5.3.305.
I tested for all previous versions of 9x, works fine in each update. Seems like patch is missing codes for updating file versions.

VISA read in exe file is not working

Hi all,
I am having problems with VISA read in an exe file created.
I am trying to write to and read from a programmable power supply via RS232. The VI writes a command to the instrument to set the voltage level. It then writes another command, requesting the resulting current value. This value is then read by VISA read
The VI is working fine on the development PC, which has LabVIEW installed. The exe file is also working fine on this PC. However, when I try to run the exe file on another PC (I've tried several) everything seem to work except for the VISA read functions. The voltage level command is sent, as well as the On and OFF commands, but the current is not read back.
I guess there must be something I have missed in the installation. I am working in LabVIEW 8.5. I have created an installer and included
Runtime Engine 8.5.1
VISA runtime 4.5
Is there something else I should do? I am really running out of ideas here...

1. Have you verified that the COM port settings in Windows (check under device manager) are matching how you initialize them (Baud, bits, parity, and flow control) and that these match the power supply's settings?
2. Also, are you trapping an error message after the attempted Read command (this will make it a lot easier to diagnose).
3. Do you programmatically close the VISA session at the end of the program?
4. You can always post the code to see if the forum members will catch the porblem.
