Reader XI hangs on W7 Pro

I am having a problem using Adobe Reader XI on a single W7 Pro PC. It works on other W7 PC's. Documents are stored on a network. The network comprises a Windows 2008 Active Directory domain with a mix of Windows OS's. All folders are accessed via DFS shares.
When I try to print the program hangs. Click Print and the animated wheel appears and then nothing. If I choose to edit the Preferences, as soon as I click on the Preferences window the animated wheel appears, the screen greys out and nothing happens. If I close the preferences screen using the red X Adobe Reader closes, not just the preferences screen. If a small PDF is opened (148KB) I can scroll to the end of the document without a problem. If I open a PDF that is 1MB or more I am unable to scroll past the first couple of pages without it hanging.
I have downloaded the installion file and installed the program from the network under an account with administrative priviledges, then uninstalled it when it did not work. Installed 'as' the administrator, then uninstalled it and have logged on as the local administrator and installed it. I have also tried installing it when logged on as the local administrator from the link on Adobe's website.
Each time the installation is reported as being successful. No events are logged in the event viewer to indicate what the problem may be.
If I copy a file to the local PC and print the current page it will print. If I try to scroll to the end of the document after doing that Adobe Reader hangs.
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

Three possibilities
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

Sound Input Read VI hangs

I'm using the SI Read VI to sample from the Soundblaster card in my Dell PC. I've configured the device for 16-bit mono input, sample rate 44.1 kHz, and the buffer size is 1024 samples. The SI Read VI is in a Timed Loop whose period I've set to 23 ms (1024 / 44.1kHz). Following each acquisition, I do some filtering, frequency analysis, and plotting inside the loop.
The acquisition works well for the first 10 minutes or so that it is running. But sometime after about 10 or 15 minutes, the VI hangs. I've traced the hang back to the SI Read VI, but have not yet figured out how to avoid the hang or recover from it (I have to abort and restart the program).
Has anyone had similar problems with the SI Read VI? Could there be a problem with the DLL that the SI Read VI calls? Are there any upgrades or fixes for this? Can someone suggest a way to recover from the hang?

From the large count of how many of you guys read the above thread of messages, including myself, and who are dealing with the same problem of SI Read VI hanging found National Instrument (NI) LabVIEW (LV), I decided to share my (not so perfect) solution with you guys to save you time and frustration. Here is the story of 3 days (18 hrs/day) of my life, fighting a bug in SI Read VI (SI: Sound Input) (I am currently using LabVIEW Pro v 7.1.1):
For the reason that "A Message cannot exceed 10,000 characters" on this Forum I included my message in the attached Word doc. Hopefully, there is no such limitation on uploaded files!

10.4.11 usb related hangs on macbook pro w/alum keyboard

Ever since upgrading to 10.4.11 & a new aluminum keyboard (+ mighty mouse) my system is VERY unreliable hanging almost daily or repeatedly... It is very troubling & surprising - these are the only two changes... Wake from sleep has had issues as well such as hanging my macbook pro 2.0 & my 30" display not waking even if the macbook has. Sometimes when rebooting I must use the macbook keyboard & then unplug & replug the external usb keyboard w/mightymouse to get it to work - my old plastic keyboard does not seem to exhibit this issue although I can't be certain...
I've zapped the pram, repaired permissions, run disk first aid & tech tool deluxe without issue...

I have been trying to start my subscription again for my Acrobat XI Pro and for the annual subscription of the PDF Export for Word and Excel. The PDF Export expired according to my subscription list, but, I think that I had cancelled my Acrobat XI Pro of $ 29.99 monthly, so, I am wanting to presubscribe for it again, but, when I try to put my Code in for my Debit Card, it will not register with your company.
So, I do not know what to do to get it back again with my monthly and annually subscription payments for PDF Export and for Acrobat XI Pro. I have already downloaded the Adobe Reader XI onto my computer so I am set for that product. I just do not know what to do about the PDF Export and the Acrobat XI Pro to be able to get them started once again.

When I try to save a form as “Reader Extended PDF” in Acrobat Pro, I get an error message “This document could not be reader enabled”.
The steps I’m following are described below:
1. Insert electronic signatures
- In Tasks, click on “Add New Field -> Digital Signature”.
- Move the square to the place where you want to put the signature and click.
- Fill in the “field name” with the name of the person who has to sign here.
- When it is done, click anywhere on the screen.
- In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
- Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
- Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
2. Save the Form
- In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
- Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
- Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 on a W7 workstation

Problem trying to make a LC Designer ES4 form "Reader Extended" in Acrobat XI Pro

I have a form that I created in LC Designer ES4 that I was able to successfully "Reader Extend" using Acrobat XI Pro. I added a script to the form to allow for the deselecting of radio buttons (which I found on this forum), and now I cannot Reader Extend the form.
Here are the specifics of my environment:
Acrobat XI Pro - Ver. 11.0.10
Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 - Ver. 11.0.20130826.2.901444
Windows 7 Professional, SP1
Here's the error I am getting in the Acrobat debugger:
Exception in line 1 of function top_level, script Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
InvalidGetError: Get not possible, invalid or unknown. Doc.layout:1:Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
This error message appears at the very bottom of the debugger window:
Unable to find source for Document-Level:!ADBE::0100_VersChkStrings
Acrobat XI Pro does not allow me to save the new file, and gives this error:
This document could not be Reader enabled.
I used the chat support for Acrobat XI Pro, and was told that this is a LC Designer issue. Since there's no phone support for LC (at least not free), I came to this forum for help.
Here's the script object (JavaScript) that I inserted into the main subform:

This all works fine when I preview the form from within LC Designer ES4. I then open the dynamic PDF form in Acrobat XI Pro, click File, Save as Other..., Reader Extended PDF, then Enable More Tools.
Acrobat shows the errors at the top of this post within the Acrobat debugger window. When I close debugger, Acrobat does not allow me to save the new file, and gives this error:
    This document could not be Reader enabled.
I've been searching for days and cannot find any resolution to this issue. It appears to me that this is a security related issue, and Acrobat does not like the running of a function within the form. Just a guess. I can't think of anything else.
Anyone come across this issue, and how were you able to fix it?

Although I did not find a cause for the errors, I did find a workaround in my case.
This only happens when running the Javascript Debugger in Acrobat XI Pro. If you turn it off, you can Reader Extend the document. If you turn it on, you have to cycle through all of the debugger errors/warnings using the arrow button in the top left corner of the debugger window, then close that window. Still not sure what the errors are for, but at least I got the form to work.

I can't use the new Adobe Reader X on my Macbook Pro. HELP!

The other day I downloaded the new Adobe Reader X on my MacBook Pro. Since then I can't open pdfs in Firefox. How can this problem be solved????

Check to see if a red light is lit in the line-out port. If so, your Apple computer may need service.

Adobe Reader 9.3.4 and Pro Extended

I tried to upgrade to the 9.3.4 version of reader and it wouldn't let me for some reason. Something about a missing .msi file in one of the directories. So I used revo uninstaller to remove it and try to reinstall it. I redownloaded the program and the ran the Adobe Reader 9.3.4 Update - setup. It processes to 100 % and then closes. And nothing. so I don't know whats going on. I also downloaded the trial of Adobe Pro Extended and everything went fine up to the install screen. I click the install button and nothing happens, so no clue whats going on with that either. Any ideas?

I tried the first link to install reader and it simply runs to 100% and then closes.

P.S. The error message that you received while updating Adobe Reader was probably due to the fact that you may have deleted the cached setup files on your system. Hence, it was prompting you to provide the required installer file (.MSI file)

Reader 9 and Acrobat X Pro

Has anyone installed Reader 9 on a machine that also has Acrobat X Pro? A website we use for UCC filings is not compatible with Acrobat X Pro. We need to determine the best way to work with this website until they are compatible with Acrobat X and though intalling both Reader 9 and Acrobat X Pro on the same machine would be an option. We are on Windows 7 64-bit with Office 2010 32-bit.

It is recommended you use Reader and Acrobat at the same version.
Though I have not tested the performance of Reader 9 and Acrobat 10 simultaneously but it should be fine.

If I set the default program for viewing PDF as Acrobat XI Pro the a PDF file will open with Acrobat XI Pro, but in Outlook I will get a white screen and the information bubble "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it" and in Windows Explorer I get a white screen in the preview pane.

Reader xi hangs on opening

I am running windows 7 and have installed the latest version of Reader xi. The highlight functions stopped working, so I clicked opened "help" there was a window that opened on the right hand side with a status circle. This circle frose and then reader closed on me. I have restarted computer, unistalled and reinstalled reader xi, searched for all abobe files on C: and erased them manually and every time I reinstall reader it hangs and closes.

When trying to update my reader, it hangs up during step 2 & I get a message that a virus was detect

when I try to update my reader it hangs up during step 2 & says a virus was detected & download aborted

1st time was when a news letter suggested my PDF Downloads of there letter probably were not working because of outdated programs & they linked Adobe for an update download. WHen the problem I 1st described happen, I then went to Adobe Site & tried it and it happened again.
