Reader XI install trouble

I tried to install Reader XI and it stopped.  Now I can't uninstall or reinstall it.  I get an error - The patch could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, ...

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Can't get adobe reader to install on my new laptop with windows 8

I can't get adobe reader to install onto my new laptop with windows 8. Basically what happens is that I start the download from the adobe screen by clicking the yellow download button, then I click run (I've also tried save and run), then I allow the program to make changes to my hard drive, and then finally a blank grey box appears in the in the middle of the screen, titled "adobe reader installer". After this box appears nothing else happens. I've let it sit for at least 30 minutes and still nothing. I've also disabled my pop up blocker, and set the security settings to default as suggested in other posts. Unfortunately this is the only pdf program that works for the site we have to use to write contracts, so I need to get this figured out asap. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    Try installing from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise

  • How do i install adobe reader without installing products from google.

i dont like google, i dont like a bunch of worthless taskbars crowding my browser. so how do i install adobe reader without installing google products when you dont even give me the chance to say i dont want them?
It is unethical to force onto people products of any nature that they do not want. i do not want google products so by your installation for adobe reader automatically installing google products without my consent is unethical.

I don't understand the "forcing" part; the bundled software is clearly optional, and can be unchecked before the download.
Or using the download link that Michael provided earlier (which is posted at least a dozen times every day in this forum).

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader Not Installed.

Trying to open link to pdf file from IE8 using Windows 7 64bit and pdf file will not open "adobe acrobat reader not installed".  Yet I can open PDF files outside of IE8.  Adobe Reader X is installed.  Have tried remvoving, reinstalling, running app as admin.  Have tried different version of Adobe Reader and same error.  This same link works fine when opened with Google Chrome.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks for posting the image.

  • How to call Reader when both Acrobat and Reader are installed?

In my machine, I have both Acrobat 7.0 Standard and Acrobat Reader 8 installed.
I want to call Reader 8 in my program. But everytime it opens Acrobat 7.0. I use the following code,
    Dim acroApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp
    acroApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
    acroApp.MenuItemExecute("About")
I am new to writing PDF programs. Can anyone tell me how to call Reader 8 by program? (I'm using VB.Net.)

You can use this code with Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.
Thank you for your reply. Does the library automatically choose application to call? or the library work under Acrobat only?
I tried to run the samples of IAC in Acrobat SDK, but all of them called Adobe Acrobat.
I'm really confused. Could you show me a way to call Reader?

  • Reader Successful Install is not successful

Yesterday, I had Reader X on my PC and it worked fine.  When I tried to upgrade to Reader XI, I downloaded it to my computer, and at the end I was told that the installation was successful, but Reader XI did not show up anywhere.  This happened 3 times.  So I deleted Reader X and tried to download Reader XI again.
I downloaded Adobe Reader from the Internet, saved it, and ran the exe file. At the end I was told that the installation was successful.  However, Reader is not on my computer.  There is no Reader icon on my desktop.  When I try to open a PDF document, Reader is not listed as an option for opening the document.
Adobe Reader is not in my Downloads folder, even though I saved it (when I downloaded it) and then ran the exe file.
I have a Compaq desktop PC running Windows XP.
How do I successfully install Reader on my PC?

I tried a variety of things to get Reader XI installed:
I had used Windows' System Restore to make a backup (restore point) before I began this fiasco of trying to install Reader XI.  I tried to restore to that restore point, but Windows said that it could not restore to that restore point.  No explanation was given.
I looked for Windows updates, but my Windows software was up to date.
I removed all traces of earlier versions of Reader folders and files.
I turned off my computer's security software while trying to install Reader XI.
I used different browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) to download and install Reader XI.
All of these attempts to install Reader XI failed.  I was able to download and save the installation (.exe) file on my hard drive, but when I ran the program, it did not install Reader XI.
After fighting this frustrating problem for 2-3 days, I found Reader X on the Internet, and downloaded and installed it without any problems.  So now I am back to where I was before trying to install Reader XI.  Since I am not a masochist, I plan to use Reader X indefinitely.
Thanx for you assistance. I truly appreciate it.  If someone can offer suggestions as to what may have caused my problem and/or how to successfully install Reader XI, I will try again.

  • How to tell which version of Adobe Reader is installed on iPhone

I can I figure out which version of Adobe Reader is installed on an iPhone?

    Hi,
To check the version of Adobe Reader on your iPhone/iPad
Go to your iOS home screen.
    Tap Settings.
Scroll down to the bottom to find Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
    Check the version number.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Reader X Install Leaves Some Reader 9.0 Files Installed

I just installed Reader X on a Win7 machine, and find that the Reader X install left
some Reader 9.0 files still lurking about in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\
folder (273 files in 9 folders for about 49.7 MB according to Properties).
Is it OK to just delete all this cruft, or might Reader X actually access/use some of
    these files?
    Thanks,
    /kim

Can you download Adobe Reader X from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.0/en_US/AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi
Once you have downloaded the installer, run the following command on the command prompt:
    msiexec /i <path to AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi> /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
For example if your msi file is in C:\Test then type: msiexec /i "C:\Test\AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi" /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
If the installer fails then please post the file "C:\ReaderX.log" here.
Also ensure that your shdocvw.dll is located at "C:\Windows\System32" folder.

Question:  I bought a 5 yr old Mac G5 OSx 10.4.11, 2 GHz intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB 667 MHz DDR1 SDRAM memory.  It works fine but I can't get Thunderbird, Flash Player or Adobe reader to install -- it shows up on desktop as download but not App folder. Why?

The downloads are probably .dmg files (disk images).  You would open the disk image (double-click it) to find the application or an installer.  If it's the application itself, you then drag the application to your Applications folder to "install" it.  If it's an installer, double-click the installer to run the installer that installs the application.
NOTE:  If you iMac is Intel, it's not a PPC G5.

  • Adobe Reader XI installed but "Not Found"

I have Adobe Reader XI installed and apparently running normally. Unfortunately the UK's Parcelforce web-site says it can't find it.
I get the message " Adobe Acrobat NOT found. You must have Adobe Reader (5 or better) with the browser plugin properly working"
Can anyone help me please? How can I tell if "the browser plugin is properly working" ?

In IE11 use Tools | Manage Add-ons, then show All Add-ons.  Do you see the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, and is it enabled?
