Readiness of Solution Manager

Dear All,
Just need a clrafication, Our solution has the following setup and configuration which is ready for use
1-Chain Request Managment
2-Mainatence optimizer
3-System Mointering ( centerlized Monitering)
4-Service Desk
Just want is this solution manager is ready for use of functional consutant i.e creation of project, prepartion of business blue print document,  Support or any setup or area need to configure for solution manger for use of functional consultant ?
Might be my question is not clear, simple I mean which area need to setup/configure in the solution manager  for use of functional consultant or project implementation ?
Would be thankful if you guide me.

Hi,
The ones you have configured definitely acts as a base for the rest. However additional configurations would also be required. Hence they would not be ready now, but can be configured for use.

  • Install both SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 4 and Solution Manager in C drive

    Hi, SDN fellows.
I just want to confirm this.
I am trying to install SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 4 and Solution Manager in C drive. Are these OK, since they both will be installed under the C:\usr folder?
What precaution we need to install these two SAP components in the same drive (C)?
I am installing both components in MS Window Server 2008 R2 SP1 with MS SQL Server 2005 SP3.
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi, Nick.
Sorry, I missed the "IDES". I am installing SAP ECC6.0 EHP4 IDES system for training purpose within the organization.
I am referring to the Installation Guide - SAP ERP 6.0 EHP Ready ABAP on Window MS SQL Server (Based on NW 7.0 incl EHP 1). All downloaded installation files are from: EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0/NW7.01 --> IDES --> --> Widnows Server --> MS SQL Server.
The OS is installed in C drive.
I have allocated 250GB in C drive and 200GB in D drive from SAN.
For IDES system (I know it is similar to the standard ECC), is it also recommended to install in D drive (separate from the OS)?
In this case, should I install both Solution Manger and IDES in D drive?
Or what is the best combination where I should install these two systems?
    Thanks,
    KC

  • Solution Manager Change Management Master Guide

    Hi
We are looking into implementing Solution Manager 7.0 and have the
    following questions:
    - Can we implement change managment in Solution Manager with only one
satellite system (i.e. Development) as the other systems are not ready
    yet (i.e. Test, QA etc.)?
    - Could you let us know where we can find the master or technical guide
to setup change management in Solution Manager 7.0.

    Hi,
it is possible to implement ChaRM even not all satellite systems are available yet.
I am not sure how much functionality you will get using virtual systems but you may configure and test ChaRM using 3 different clients in your DEV system (need to adjust TMS config accordingly).
Some useful information regarding ChaRM configuration can be found [here|/people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario]
Since ChaRM relies on Service Desk you should also have a look at appropriate Blogs.
Also you should follow the IMG documentation/steps in SPRO.

    Hi Colleagues,
I'm looking for information on posible restrictions to import ARIS content to Solution Manager.
Have anyone been through this and could share what challenges we could expect?
I found a document called "IMPORTING ARIS FOR NETWEAVER CONTENT INTO SOLUTION MANAGER" from Sukumar Natarajan but it just explain its steps.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Upload Project Structure or Roadmap from MS Project to solution manager

I have a project ready in MS Project .
I want to make a roadmap out of it.
How is that possible? Do I have to manually edit roadmap structure?
OR Is it possible to upload Project Structure or Roadmap from MS Project to solution manager?

    Hi Hussain,
Can you please check [this|Creating new Roadmaps; thread for general overview on custom Roadmaps.
In answer to your specific question, it's not possible to create a Roadmap straight out of MS Project, in standard SolMan.

  • Re:Solution Manager

    what is solution manager?

    Hi,
SAP Solution Manager is a centralized, robust solution management toolset that facilitates technical support for distributed systems -- with functionality that covers all key aspects of solution deployment, operation, and continuous improvement. It combines tools, content, and direct access to SAP to increase the reliability of solutions and lower total cost of ownership.
With SAP Solution Manager, you can be sure your entire SAP solution environment is performing at its maximum potential. The toolset addresses your entire IT environment, supporting SAP and non-SAP software and covering current and forthcoming SAP solutions. As part of SAP NetWeaver, SAP Solution Manager is included in the annual maintenance fee for SAP solutions.
SAP Solution Manager targets both technical and business aspects of your solutions, focusing strongly on core business processes. It supports the connection between business processes and the underlying IT infrastructure. As a result, it eases communication between your IT department and your lines of business. And it ensures that you derive the maximum benefits from your IT investments.
SAP Solution Manager features and functions include:
mySAP Business Suite implementation -- SAP Solution Manager provides content that accelerates implementation. Configuration information and a process-driven approach to implementation speed the blueprint, configuration, and final preparation phases. SAP Solution Manager enables efficient project administration and centralized control of cross-component implementations.
Global rollout -- The toolset eases process standardization and harmonization across organizations and locations by providing proven methodologies and all necessary functionality. You can more easily implement standardized settings at local sites, because configuration settings needn't be re-entered into local components.
Synchronization of custom settings -- With SAP Solution Manager, you can maintain consistency as you customize your heterogeneous IT environment. It enables safer administration of customization, less error-prone replication of custom settings, and simpler consistency checks. SAP Solution Manager reduces manual synchronization efforts by automatically distributing custom settings to various systems simultaneously, and by centrally managing all requests to synchronize settings.
Testing -- SAP Solution Manager speeds test preparation and execution. It provides a single point of access to the complete system landscape and enables centralized storage of testing material and test results to support cross-component tests.
IT and application support -- The support desk included in SAP Solution Manager helps you manage incidents more efficiently and eases the settlement of support costs. Centralized handling of support messages makes the support organization more efficient.
Solution monitoring -- SAP Solution Manager performs centralized, real-time monitoring of systems, business processes, and interfaces, which reduces administration effort. It can even monitor intersystem dependencies. Proactive monitoring helps you avoid critical situations, while automatic notifications enable fast response to issues.
Service-level management and reporting -- SAP Solution Manager allows easy definition of service levels and provides automated reporting. Service reporting covers all systems in the solution landscape and provides a consolidated report containing the information you need to make strategic IT decisions.
Service processing -- SAP Solution Manager makes appropriate service recommendations and delivers SAP support services. These include SAP Safeguarding, which helps you manage technical risk; SAP Solution Management Optimization, which helps you get the most from your SAP solutions; and SAP Empowering, which helps you manage your solutions.

  • Integrating Trex search With Solution manager

    HI Guys,
Please help me with this .
Let's say the solution manager is integrated in the SAP Portal and trex is available in the SAP portal.
Can we search documents stored in the solution manager via the trex which is integrated in the SAP Portal? Is there a how-to guide available on the config?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Dev.

    Hi Dev
    I'm facing a similar problem.
We have a trex server. We connected the TRex to our EP KM. Fulltext search in our Portal KM works well.
We have several project documentations on our Solution Manager. I was hoping I could connect the KM repository of the solution manager to our TREX and search the docs from EP. I was able to connect the Solution Manager repository to Trex. The index is working well.
The procedure is described in note 750623 but unfortunately  the note is far away from a how to guide so I hope this helps:
    Trex:
    - Go to Admin Tool. Then landscape - connectivity and click on create "Connection". Enter system information of your solution manager system. Then click on Create - RFC Destination (sm59).
    Solution Manager:
    - Transaction srmo: Create a new Search Server Relation (DRFUZZY) and enter the RFC Destination you created in the above step and set it to default.
    - Transaction spro: SAP Solution Manager - Cross-Scenario Settings - Document Management - Servers - Connect Index Server for Full Text Search.   Click on "Define Index Readiness" and mark both entries for "IWBSolar" and save.
    - Now go tou se38 and start the report RSTIRIDX_REINDEX. Here enter IWBSOlAR for document area and execute.
    - Now go back to spro: Start the IMG activity "Schedule Asynchronous Indexing and De-indexing" and schedule the indexing job (Make sure you have executed the report RSTIRIDX_REINDEX before).
If you want to test the search go to transaction SKPR07, go to tools, select document area IWB Solar and click on "test search".
Unfortunately I don't know if there is any bether transaction for the search.
I was looking for a possibility to search from EP directly to the solman KM.  But unfortunately I didnt' find a solution for this. The only way I know is to connect the solution manager over a transaction iview im EP.
    Hope I could help.

  • Solution Manager Diagnostic setup SM 4.0 NW2004s questions

    Hi Experts,
Am new to solution manager and was trying today to setup SMD for the portals (EP 7.0 NW2004s). Here we have SM 4.0 (NW2004s) or SM 7.0 (as called now) already installed and used for different purpose. So i hope the SMD is already installed for this version. I am able to login to smd/admin page.
    1. I did the monitoring system config. Now when I go to monitored system tab I get this message
Landscape DB is empty. Please make sure Component Analyzer is ready on monitored systems, and use "Refresh" button on this page
We haven't installed the component analyzer on the monitored systems. Where can we find it on SMP?
    2. If any body could provide me with the document for the same or give me just the steps in sequential order for SMD setup or the latest setup guides as am bit confused reading guides I have. The guides available are for NW2004 i.e. SMD setup guide and SMD advanced setup (Version 1.0 June 2006) from SMP.  I have also followed the blogs but there is nothing much on SMD setup.

I would definitely go to the highest support package level if you plan to install support packages. Many fixes have been incorporated.
RCA (Root Cause Analysis) is a function provided by SMD. To set that up check

  • EWA: error message in CRM check for SAP Solution Manager system

    Hello!
In EWA report for SAP Solution Manager system I have seen error message: Many CSA* inbound queues in error status were detected in your system. As a result of this BDocs have not been delivered. And then table
Queue Name                                Status     Date of first entry             Entries
    CSABUPA0000000070           READY     03.12.2007                          45
    CSABUPA0000000934           READY     07.05.2008                          45
    CSAIBASE0000000000           READY     23.11.2007                          36
    CSA_ORDER_8000000000      READY     22.11.2007     5
    CSA_ORDER_8000000001      READY     22.11.2007     3
    and others.
I looked transaction smq2. There are 11300 queues in it. Is it actual error or it is a normal situation? And that must I do, to remove an error?
Edited by: Mariya Kurbatova on Jul 2, 2009 6:27 AM

    Hi,
Usually problems with hanaging CSA* queues are caused because too many
indiviaual queues are created for the qRFC resources to handle. You can
limit the number of queues as described in note 763680.
Note 763680 would be useful if all of your qRFC resourcesa are in use
when you have a great number of queues. With a large number of dialog
WPs on the system it would probably make sense to reduce the amount
    as described in the note.
the casue when you have this problem would be to check SMQR -> GOTO ->
qRFC resources. You can also see if most of your dailog WPs are in use
    in SM50.
    Also refer to note 758677.
Please schedule report RSQIWKEX (Inbound) to run as described in the
    note.
And since your title has mentioned that the EWA is on your CRM satellite system; this maybe a further good reference too
When you replicate lots of data from CRM to R/3, there could be a qRFC
resource problem. In this case, the numebr of queues created can be
reduced by implementing the attached note 356228, particularly solution
    2.
    For CSA* queues is slightly different from the one decribed in note;
this is because the CSA queues exchange data within the CRM system.
The steps described should be followed, except that table SMOFQFIND
must be used instead of CRMQNAMES. In this table, fields TR_SNAEMS and
SEGM_FLD are equivalent to the CRMQNAMES fieds BAPISTRUCT and BAPIFLD
respectively. It should be possible to follow the solution 2 in the
note as long as you use SMOFQFIND instead of CRMQNAMES.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers,
    SH

  • Configuration of Mopz in solution manager 7.1

    Hi,
Can you please help me in configuration of Mopz's in solution Manager 7.1 so that i can do step by step installation.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sreeram

    Hi,
I can give your the overview, but you need to go thru the guides as well in order to get the full pic.
If you've completed solman_setup -> system preparation and basic configuration, your MOPZ is ready, where at this time, you've entered your S-USer info, SLD<->LMDB sync is performed and etc..
What next is you need to assign your SAP System to correct Product, Product version in SMSY + LMDB. Once done, assign your SAP System (or so call Product System) to logical component (in SMSY). After that, create a landscape solution in solman_workcenter and assign your logical component to it.
You can run the MOPZ in solman_workcenter -> change management.
    Hope it helps,

  • Prepare Solution Manager for SAP services (EWA/GLC)

    Hi,

  • Solution Manager ChaRM Issues when Upgrading Satellite System

When upgrading a satellite system that is connected to Solution Manager's Change Request Management, is there anything that we need to be aware of?
Will Change Documents still be able to go to completion (Production status) if we modify the landscape from the time the Change Document is In Development to the time it is moved to Production?
    1. Normal Correction (In Development)     Development (ECC 5.0) -> Quality (ECC 5.0) -> Production (ECC 5.0)
    2. Landscape is changed to                    Development (ECC 6.0) -> Quality (ECC 6.0) -> Production (ECC 5.0)
    3. Normal Correction moved to To Be Tested -> Consolidated -> Production
Will the Normal Correction be in error because the landscape changed for the iBASE?
Are there any other lessons learned that anyone has experienced with Change Request Management or Implementation during and after an upgrade?

    Thanks Subhashini!
We had issues updating the Task List in the past. After we update the landscape and refresh the project and update the Task List, do you foresee any other problems?
Are there any additional items we should look out for? For example, we understand it is a requirement to release all transports prior to beginning the upgrade. However, since the release of the transport locks the change into the cycle for the next production move, this will present a problem if the change is not yet ready to be moved into Production. Do you have any further insight to any additional issues such as this?
    Thanks again!
