Reading ebooks

I transfered an ebook that I bought from my computer to my BB Playbook.  My epub readers won't open it.  The extension file is ACSM.  How come Adobe won't open it???? What can I do?
Help please...
ty all for solutions

The ACSM file type is primarily associated with 'Adobe Digital Editions' by Adobe. If your computer is asking you where to save the .acsm file then your Adobe Digital Editions may not be installed correctly or not yet authorized. Often you can solve this issue by simply setting your computer to always use Adobe Digital Editions to open this type of file (in Windows XP, for instance, right click on the file and choose Open With, select Adobe Digital Editions and tick the box to tell Windows to remember the setting; for other operating systems please read your documentation).
You could try this.
Download and install 'Calibre' which is a conversion programme for ebooks. Load the ACSM book and try a convert.
Best wishes

  • Adobe Authentication Failure error occurs when trying to log into the Reader (eBook) Store or activate a device.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This error will occur when your Reader Store login information (email and password) do not match your Adobe ID login information (email and password). When you create a Reader Store account, an Adobe ID is automatically created. If one already exists for your email address, the passwords must match or you will be prompted with this box to provide the different password. You may also see the error codes 2055, 2057, 2052, 2053, 2056 or 2059 for this issue.
When the Adobe password is changed, the Reader (ebook) Store password will not change. You can change your Reader Store email address or password to be the same as your Adobe ID (account) or password to avoid the previous step any time you authorize a PC or Reader in the future.
IMPORTANT: Both the Reader store and Adobe passwords must be between 6-12 characters. Adobe and Reader Store passwords can be different. However, it is easier to access content if the same password is used for both accounts.

  • Does Nokia Asha 310 support reading ebooks?

    Hello everyone,
Pls let me know if it is possible to read ebooks in Asha 310?
If yes, what formats does this support like .txt or .pdf or .epub etc
If not, then is it possible to install any app (third party is also fine) which will help support reading books in phone.. where can I find this app?
    Thanks,

In the Ovi Store. However, bear in mind the Nokia 310 is short of heap memory (RAM) which does not allow to read big files and it is complicated. If you do not need Dual SIM, have you considered to go for Nokia Belle like the Nokia 700?

  • How to authorize a Reader Digital Book to a Reader (eBook) Store account.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To transfer books from a computer to the Reader Digital Book, you must authorize the Reader Digital Book to your account. Authorization links your Reader to your eBook Store account, allowing books purchased from the eBook Store to be transferred to the authorized Reader. You can authorize up to six devices to a single account.
From your home computer and home network, do the following:
Launch the Reader (eBook) Library software.
Log into your eBook Store account.
Turn on the Reader Digital Book.
NOTE: For best results, we recommend that the Reader Digital Book be fully charged before starting the authorization process and authorized from your home computer and network. Work related computers and networks often have security measures preventing the authorization process.
Connect the Reader Digital Book to the computer.
In the eBook Store pane, click My account.
On the Account Management page, under My Authorized Devices, click Manage Devices.
On the Manage Device page, under We have detected the following attached Devices:, click the Authorize this device button.

  • Can the new iPod Nano read ebooks?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to read ebooks/install iBooks on the new iPod Nano?

There is no way to tell at this point as nobody has actually been able to physically get their hands on one yet. However, there is no mention of it on the Nano's product page or tech specs on Apple's online store, so maybe not?

  • Listening music while reading ebook on the nano..

i was wondering if the 3rd gen nano behaves the same as the 1st gen nano where the screen would always switch back to the "now playing" screen every 10-20 seconds while doing other things with the ipod like reading ebooks on Note or checking Contacts et cetera. thanks.

Yes, it does that to, unfortunately. The only way to prevent this is by always being scrolling down a little bit while reading every 5-15 seconds. But why would you want to read while listening to music?!? That just annoys most people.

  • Tip: How to read "eBooks"

I would love to see either Apple or a third-party developer provide a decent eBook reader application, but until that happens there is a pretty good workaround: Email yourself the file and use the new Mail application to view it.
I use Gmail, so setting things up was a snap.
I sent myself Word .DOC files, Adobe Acrobat .PDF files, and plain text .TXT files. The .DOC and .PDF files opened in a viewer that is rotatable with images and formatting are preserved. The .TXT files did not open in a viewer, but flowed "inline" in the email message itself.
And to make things easier in Gmail, I did the following:
    1. I set up a new Label called "eBooks"
    2. When I send myself an eBook, I address it using "plus" addressing (ie: [email protected])
    3. I then created a filter that applies the "eBook" Label and Archives anything sent to that new address
The end result is that I can email myself any .DOC, .PDF, or .TXT file to the "plus" address, and it ends up in my "eBook" folder on my iPod Touch. And because the attachments auto-download, the content is available offline.
So there you have it. It's a bit of a kludge, but it works!

    Hi,
I use Gmail, too. Before I read your message I also found this great "feature".
Did you use the Gmail-preset from the iPod? If so, it is set to IMAP. That means if I want to delete a pdf-file in order to have more free capacity on the iPod, I had to delete the whole mail.
And that would delete the mail even in gmail, as it is IMAP.
Do you know if there is a way to delete only the attachment from a mail?

  • Can I use multiple device for reading ebook ?

My company have own shop that will be integrated with ACS4 and one important feature of my shop is
that "customer pay for single ebook then they can read that ebook on multiple devices that is registered with my shop".
And my shop can manage, add, edit and remove customer device itself. Is it possible to do that ?
I notice that when I download ebook from sample store I can copy acsm file to my friend and he can open acsm file then download an ebook
via adobe digital edition. How can I specific only user who buy ebook can download ?

Yes and no.  Yes, if you sell a book through ACS4 (without adding a device restring), the user can read the on any computer or device that they have activated with their Adobe DRM account.  No you can not manage these devices on your site or specify a subset other than have a single device restriction.

  • Read ebooks without internet connection

Is there a way to download ebooks to my BB and read them even when I don't have an internet connection? I tried mobiopocket, and was able to read books when connected to the internet through Wifi, but couldn't read them otherwise (I don't have internet service on my BB.... just voice and email).

Short answer: no, it's not possible. Longer answer: The cellular carriers could potentially track the phone if it's on. However, they'd most likely only give that information to law enforcement with a proper subpoena.

  • Read ebook on 2 devices??

I am trying to read my ebooks on a second device, which is a PC (Win7).  Thus I installed "Adobe Digital Editions" when trying to authorize the "Digital Edsitios" for my PC I entered my Adobe-ID & password. Then The following error message ist displayed: "You cannot aithuórize this PC with an Adobe-ID that was used for another PC already". If I select "authorize without ID" ist fails as well.So my question is if there is any way to read the books I bought(!) on more than one device??  Thanks for any hint :-)

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
