Reading Keyevents in While in a Different Program

I'm fairly new to scripting in Java, so i was wondering if anyone could help me if at all possible. I was wondering is there a way of getting the keystroke while you are in a different program such as paint or whatever.

I'm glad to hear that the .NET stuff doesn't support this directly. I was starting to feel like a bad detective!
I did find another sample that uses NWScanDirEntryInfo. The posted code was for Delphi 2007, and the iterationHandle parm is an integer. The version of the Delphi interface that I have shows that field as an unsigned integer pointer. I'm currently fighting with the typcasting trying to get that call to work. The biggest thing is that it should be a -1 for the first call. You can't put -1 in that type of variable!

  • I am having consistant problems w/ my mb pro freezing for 20-60 seconds while working in different programs and apps. i've upgraded my RAM to 8gigs and deleted over 60 gig of pics and videos to try to help, but nothing seems to work.

I've now been having this problem for months. It just freezes up and either shows me the dumb color wheel or doesn't show me anything sometimes and i just cant do anything for about 20-60 seconds. i can't exposae or anything. Also while working on a power point presentation it froze 4 different times for good and i had to do a hard restart just to get it working again. i lost my work and had to keep starting over. it was so annoying. it seems most of the time it does it, it is while i'm in Excel, Outlook, or Powerpoint. so perhaps it has something to do with my microsoft office. but i have the newest version and all the updates and everything. and i believe its happened when doing other tasks too. So i just can't figure it out.
A few Mac friends suggested i free up some space on my hard drive and upgrade my RAM. So i did. i put all my videos and photos on an external harddrive and deleted them all on my computer. i also upgraded to 8 gigs of RAM.
And honestly i can't even tell a difference after doing both of these.
HELP! PLEASE HELP! I'M ABOUT TO GO CRAZY. And having all the non Mac believers telling me it cause i have a Mac even drives me more nuts..
    Jason

    Any of this help?
it froze a few times over the last hour and half while browsing the internet.
and also while working in excel it all of the sudden shut down excel and said. "Excel has encountered and problem and needs to shut down, you may lose the work you were on." or something like that. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME TOO. Excel, outlook and powerpoint frequently just shut down on me out of now where. I've bolded and underlined when this happened.

Photoshop shut down while I drew a picture, now the file is broken and I can´t fix it, photshop won´t open the file and I have tried repearing it with different programs. What should I do? I spent 6 hours on the pic and I dont even have a screenshot or anything.

You don't even say what platform you are on, or any other details that may help others assist you.
If you are on a Mac, try opening your file in GraphicConverter (they have a demo version) if that doesn't open it, nothing will, in my experience.
I assume you have tried Adobe Illustrator already to recover.
You may also have a JPEG of your complete file (flattened) in Bridge Cache.
On the Mac you'd find it in your User ~Library (NOT the Root Library ):
    Users > yourname > Library > Caches > Adobe > Bridge CS6 > Cache > 1024 > jpg(fileID)number Filename.psd.jpg
The user ~Library is hidden, but you can make it visible for an moment or two.  Ask Apple if you don't know how.
    I don't do Windows.

My sound keeps scrambling and blaring without warning before I either restart or stop music/videos for a while. It's without warning and happening on different programs. Is this happening to anyone else?
I thought about resetting the nvram/pram, but before I do that, I wanted to check here. It might not be the issue. My startup looks fine and the sound is great up until the discrete moment when it's suddenly scrambled and nonsense.

I did try a safe boot once before, which didn't stop the occurrences. I can try it again to make sure, and see if the problem stops happening.
Never installed extra audio or plug-ins, though.
It happened just once not long after I bought the mid-2013 MBA, which I think came with 10.8.4, but I assumed the noise was because I was moving the computer around on a surface that created static, since the noise stopped after I picked it up off the surface. However, that must have just been a coincidence, because it happens more frequently now without moving or touching anything.
Trying the safe-mode boot and restart, and testing it out for day or so to see if it happens again.

  • Different program's sound sent to different jack ports with Pulseaudio

    Hello,
I just installed Pulseaudio so I could send the output of different programs to different jacks on my computer, both the jacks on my computer are provided by the same motherboard sound card, one on the front for my headphone and one on the back. So far I haven't been able to see them in pavucontrol I only see a single output.
Here's the output of "pacmd list"

Did you ever figure this out?  I am in the same situation and cannot figure out how to refer to specific ports on the same motherboard.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … ont.2Frear looks promising.  However I forget whether one of my cords is plugged in to the rear jack or the center jack, and moving my desktop to look is a little involved.  Oh well, next time the need arises I will experiment further.

  • Is it possible to loop a Keynote presentation on an external display while working in another program (say numbers) on my laptop screen?

    I have a 2012 MacBook Air.
What I would like to be able to do is plug into an external display and project a looping Keynote presentation on the external display. The problem is when I play the Keynote presentation, my laptop screen goes black. Is it possible to play/loop a Keynote presentation on an external display while working in a different program (Pages, Numbers, etc) on my laptop screen?
    Thank you!

  • HP XW4600 Vista freezes randomly while working (no specific program or time)

    Dear sirs,
A customer of mine is having issues with 4/5 identical HP XW4600 PC's in their company which are running Windows Vista. After some time the computer just freezes. Nothing can be done, only a hard reboot can bring the PC back to life.
After checking the eventviewer, I see that nothing is reported on the time of the freeze. Only when the system boots, it states that there was a cold reboot, but that's it. There is no special software installed on the computers (MS Office 2007, Archicad, autocad, java). First it started occuring with two PC's and now it's with 4/5.
I alraedy did a clean install of Windows Vista because the PC was given to another user, but still the same problem. I updated the firmware of the chipset, GPU, Bios, HDD with the latest drivers. Even tried installing different drivers for the GPU, but this has no effect. The system randomly freezes while using different programs.
I really have no idea what to check anymore. I already did a stresstest and drove the hardware of the PC to its limit and no freeze occured then.
What else is there to do? Is this because of a specific update from Microsoft or just the interacting between Windows Vista and the underlying hardware? Has someone else from HP had any complaints about this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
Here is some system information about the computer which recently has been having issues:
    1.
    HP XW4600
    Productnumber: KK508ET#AK6
    Serialnumber: CZC9167GF6
    OS: Windows Vista SP2 x64
    GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700
    RAM: 8GB
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9950

    Hi Silencer001:
I understand that Vista randomly freezes for not apparent reason.  I have included a link to "HP PCs-Computer Locks up or Freezes", although it is for Windows 7 you should be able to follow the same steps.

How can I stream video from my laptop to apple tv while doing a different task on my laptop?  I want to be able to stream a video to my tv while browsing the internet or working on writing on my laptop. Thanks

You would have to use airplay within iTunes then, unless you want to use 3rd party software (ie Beamer)

Lather when the Acrobat Reader was upgraded to version 6.0, there was an error when VI tries to launch the LabVIEW program. And Later again when we upgraded to Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 I must again do some changes and rebuild the EXE files again
It isn't so very big job to do the changes in one single LabVIEW program, but we have built a lot of LabVIEW programs so this take time to due changes every time vi update Acrobat Reader. (We have build EXE files.)
The job is to right click the ActiveX container and Click "Insert ActiveX Object", then I can brows the computer for the new version of acrobat Reader. After this I must rebuild all the "methods" in the Activex call to make the VI executable again.
Is there a way to build LabVIEW program so I don't have to do this job every time we update Acrobat Reader?
This LabVIEW program is written in LabVIEW 6.1, but I se the problem is the same in LabVIEW 8.2.

    hi there
    try the vi
    ..vi.lib\platform\browser.llb\Open Acrobat Document.vi
it uses DDE or the command line to run an external application (e.g. Adobe Acrobat)

  • NoClassFoundError exception while running the java program

    Hi,
I am getting the following exception while running a java program CSTToGMTToSQL.java
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: CSTToGMTToSQL
However, the class file is getting created for this program in the same directory where the program is residing.
    Any idea on this ?

I know that in the past there was an issue with running a particular version of the SDK on a particular version of windows. The resulant error was a ClassNotFoundException. I am not sure about the versions involved.

  • Itunes stops working as soon as it reads first track while importing CD (APPCRASH). Need help!

Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?

Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.

  • When I open my macbook, why is a different program in the foreground than when I closed it?

Hi all. I was curious as to why whenever I open my macbook pro, a different program is running in the foreground than whatever was there when I closed it. Not a major issue, just really confusing. It's always a progam I had open, but always a different one each time. For instance, I will close the computer with Safari in the foreground and when I open it Mail will be in the foreground.

    Hello,
Test this in another user account and see if the issue still occurs.

  • Firefox is opening a .pdf link with Google Docs. How can I change to a different program?

I am opening a government document from a govt webpage link. It's a pdf document, and the document opens in Google Docs. I do not want it to open in Google Docs, but don't know how to change to a different program.
I am using current Firefox; Windows 7.

Thanks for the suggestion, I should've mentioned I'd already tried that without success. I tried clearing everything in the Clear Recent History section actually but the certificate is still remembered.
I've also just now tried deleting the certificates completely but not even that works - a little concerning. (:

What was this program for, or did you just assume it's something you shouldn't have and therefore arbitrarily decide to "throw it away"? Exactly how did you supposedly throw it away?
If you didn't change your administrator password, there's no reason it shouldn't work now, so that suggests you did something else, or changed it and then forgot what it was.
You can't recover that password; you can only change it. To do that, you would need to boot from your Snow Leopard DVD, choose your language, then choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu in the top menu bar.
