Reading Kindle ebooks on my iPad

What is the proceedure for allowing me to download and read ebooks for Kindle purchased from Amazon?

If you  try and download the new app from your iPad 1, when you select install, if there is still an older version/s of the app on Apple's servers, there will be a prompt that pops up asking you if you want to install the last compatible version of that app.
Try it to see if it will let install the older Kindle app.
Make sure your iPad is updated to iOS 5.1.1.
I noticed your posted  iOS is only on iOS 5.0.1.

  • How can I copy Kindle eBooks from my iPad to my Mac?

I tried over iTunes, but the Mac doesn't "see" the Kindle ebooks on the iPad.

I am not sure that I can be copyed for copyright issues but if you plug in your kindle to your computer with the orginial cord ope it up in finder and you will be able download onto your mac from there. From your mac you will be able to copy the books onto the iPad if you need to.

  • Palm software for reading Kindle ebooks on Treo 755p

Does anyone know of software for the Palm OS (Treo 755p 5.4.9) that would allow one to read Kindle eBooks on the Treo 755p?  If not, what is the best eBook software for the 755p?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Asking for the "Best" of anything is always an objective request... What's best to some may be horrible to others!
eReader used to be included with many Palm devices - is it on your Installation Disk?  If not, it can be downloaded for free here:

    Another is MobiPocket:

I've used eReader before, but not Mobi.  I'm not an avid ebook reader, so perhaps someone who is will chime in here!

If you have bought the Kindle ebooks from Amazon, I think that there is your purchase history at amazon.com. You can go there to check it out or check your Amazon mail.

  • Can I Read From two different Kindle accounts on one ipad?

My fiance just bought an ipad 4.  She has installed the Kindle app so she can read content from her Amazon Kindle library on her ipad.
I have a separate Amazon Kindle library that I want to read on her ipad too.  How can I do this without co-mingling our Kindle libraries?  Is there a way to install two separate Kindle apps on her ipad?
I will be most appreciative of any solutions that you can offer to me.
    Robert

You can use Safari (the Amazon site that it's only compatible with Safari on iOS devices) and go to https://read.amazon.co.uk/ and you should be able to save the site/'web app' to your iPad's homescreen and link it to a different account than is in the Kindle app itself.

People who sell ebooks normally tell you what you need to read them, e.g.

  • I have the kindle app on my iPad.  I downloaded a kindle version of a songbook. I would like to print out a few pages of the music.  I cannot download the file to my computer and cannot print from the iPad as the page format does not allow it.

How can I print out a few pages of a kindle ebook (music) from my iPad.
How can I download this book to my iMac from the iPad.  It is NOT in my e books library, but I can only access it from my kindle app.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

One work around is, if the Kindle app allows, make a screen cap of the page and print that.
Hold down the sleep and home keys and relase them together....kinda like you'd press the shutter of a camera, a joint quick down and up
You'll see a white flash and hear a shutter sound. Then look in your photos app and you'll see the images. You can print them just like you'd print a photo.

  • How to turn off private browsing mode to read kindle cloud

There is not a setting for turning on & off private browsing in Firefox mobile.

  • Backup of non Amazon Kindle ebook?

I purchased an ebook from a third party site that downloaded to the Kindle Reader on my iPad. As expected, this book does NOT show up in my Amazon Kindle account to redownload if needed since it was not purchased through the Kindle store.
Though the book is not visible as it would be in the Kindle store or in Books in iTunes (for iBooks purchases), is the book stored as part of the Kindle Reader data backup for the iPad?
If I replaced my iPad using a restore from my current iPad, would the book be available on the new iPad?
    Thanks,
    Robert

Apparently it is NOT possibile to upload a .mobi file in the Kindle Reader app up to the Amazon cloud (could not find on Amazon support site, so spoke with Amazon support rep).
Amazon suggestion was to save the .mobi on the Mac/PC.  I was able to get another  copy of the .mobi from the bookstore, so this worked. It would not have worked if the .mobi document only existed on the iPad.
Solution was to purchase the book on the Mac/PC. Save the downloaded .mobi file; mail the .mobi file to myself, then select the Kindle Reader when prompted to download it to the iPad.
Not sure if this would work if there were was "protection" on the file to prevent further "free" distribution.
I still wonder though if the book/document might be stored with the data with the Kindle Reader app as part of the iPad backup.
    Issue resolved.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Asking for comparisons of the reading experience (books) on an iPad vs an iPad Mini before I buy

I'm looking for comparisons of the reading experience (books) on an iPad vs iPad Mini.  Would prefer getting the Mini, but wonder if the screen is too small for prolonged reading?

Reading on a glossy glass LED backlit LCD is sometimes difficult for some people - they report eye strain and headaches and such.  If you are like that, then for a dedicated ereader, that pretty much rules out any tablet with a glass LED lit screen (iPad, iPad mini, Kindle Fire, Nook tablet, Kobo Arc, and so on).
If you do not like using glass LED/LCD screens for long periods, then a B&W eINK screen might be much better for you - like an original Amazon Kindle model, or a Nook Simple Touch or a Kobo Touch.
As long as the screen is alright to your eyes, and if you want to read magazines or enhanced eBooks with color art and such, then you would want an LCD screen, the choice between iPad or iPad mini is mainly a choice about the size and weight of the device.  One nice thing about an iPad is reading in landscape mode on the big screen as that just works well with certain formats or book layouts (and is much better for magazines, IMO).  However, the iPad mini is much smaller, lighter, more comfortable to hold for long periods and more easily slipped into a coat pocket or bag.
While I love my iPad, I actually use my Nook Simple Touch (the original model) if sitting down to read for a long time.  It is the lightest ereader I've ever held, and the size is perfect for one hand holding while reading.  The eINK is superb for text only novels and such, and it is a non-glare glass screen (it does not use capacitive touch for control - the touch control is via infrared LEDs mounted along two sides of the device, forming an infrared grid over the screen).  My Nook Simple touch is about 1/3rd or less the size of an iPad weighs right about 7.5oz, while an iPad is a bit over 23oz.  That difference may not seem like much, until you've been sitting holding it for a half hour trying to read.  The iPad mini is only about 11oz, so maybe a nice compromize weight, as long as you like the screen for long periods of reading.
P.S. I do read a lot on my iPad too, as glossy LCD screens do not bother me, but if settiling down on a weekend to read a novel, I'll tend to pick up the Nook ST instead.
That also begs the question of whether you want a truly (or mainly) dedicated ereader, or do you also need tablet functions as well (email, web browsing, other apps/functions).  eINK readers are pretty much ereaders-only, as the screen technology is really only good for displaying text, and is much slower to refresh than an active matrix LCD is.

  • How do you remove ebooks from your ipad. not just arcive them get rid of them totally?

How do you remove ebooks from your ipad? Not just arcive them but get rid of them completly?

That all depends on which eBook app you're using. If you archive a book using the Kindle app, it is removed from your iPad. It's still available in your Kindle account should you ever wish to access it again but it's not taking up space on your device.

  • How can I copy a paragraph of text from a Kindle book on the iPad?

I just purchased a book to read on the Kindle app on my iPad.
I would like to copy a paragraph of text to email to someone or to possibly quote in a blog post.
How can I copy a paragraph of text from a Kindle book on the iPad?

I'm very late to the conversation but thought I'd chime in since I've just been dealing with this myself. One way to copy from Kindle books is to make sure that you have your settings to backup highlights etc. online, then highlight the text in the Kindle app, go to your Kindle webpage (https://kindle.amazon.com/your_highlights) and copy the text from there.
Remember, to be able to do this you have to set the app to backup highlights etc. I think this is set individually for each book. On my iPad the default is to backup.
