"reading mode" view on Firefox?

when I come across an article I find on-line while browsing on Firefox I would like to continue reading it on "reading mode." How can I make that switch? does Mozilla support that?

  • How can I view the Firefox Reading List?

I am running Firefox on Android 2.3.4. I am reading about the Firefox "Reader Mode" [1], which states:
"By tapping the readinglist1 icon, you can add the current page to your reading list (a special folder in your bookmarks list)"
"Note: The reading list folder will not be shown until the first item is added to the list. If all the items in the list are removed, the reading list will be hidden again."
Once I add the current page to my reading list, the screen changes and I am presented with different navigation controls. From here, the documentation says that:
"By tapping the readinglist2 icon, you can display the reading list. "
I have several items in my Reading List. However, I can only see the 'readinglist2' icon when I am viewing a page which has been converted to the Reader Mode. If I browse my bookmarks I do not see a folder for the reading list.
How can I view the items which I added to my "Reading List"?

You can open any chrome file in Firefox via the location bar, provided you know the path.<br />
XML (XUL) files need a view-source: prefix.

  • Disable reader mode on Firefox Android for specific website/page/category?

    Hi!
Is it possible to disable Firefox reader mode on Android version of browser for specific pages or category of my website. I have some technical pages such as payment page and I do not want users to be able to turn on reader mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-use-reader-mode) on this page.
    Kind Regards,
    Nikolay

The way to avoid reader mode is to provide a mobile view of the page.

Much of the documentation for Acrobat JavaScript has not changed and still operates exactly as it did with Acrobat 3.1 so it is possible that the old documentation is still valid. I have found that the Acrobat JavaScript Guide fro
version 5 has some very excellent documentation about the field object UI for the various form Fields.
If one goes to the Acrobat Developer Center and uses the Working with Distiller, Fonts and more and the uses the PDF Open Parameters one gets the documentation from the version 9.0 SDK form June 2008. This document probably has not been updated since then.  Another issue to consider is the changes in IE, the number of new web browsers, and the introduction of HTML 5 all of which could change how parameters are passed or allowed. This technique has always been problematic.
Within an external viewer, it is not possible to show/hide the toolbars.

  • How to set "Read mode" as default view for a pdf?

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to open a pdf in "Read mode" (to get the floating toolbar) whenever an user open it in Acrobat Reader. Is there anyway to set this option in the pdf like "Open in full screen mode"?
    Or
Can we add any little javascript to acheive this?
    Or
Is there any other way to get the floating toolbar and add it into the pdf whenever we require?
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Muthuraj. D

No. Read Mode is a choice made by the user, nothing in the document can force it to happen.
There is no scripting or API access to the heads-up-display "floating toolbar".

Your code is absolutely unreadable - even if someone was willing to
help, it's simply impossible. I do give you a few tips, though: If you
understand your code (i.e. if it really is YOUR code), you should be
able to realize that your minimum and maximum never get set (thus they
are both 0) and your exam 3 is set with the wrong value. SEE where
those should get set and figure out why they're not. Chances are you
are doing something to them that makes one 'if' fail or you just
    erroneously assign a wrong variable!

  • Fold/Unfold (Outline) in BO 4.0 Webi Report - in Reading Mode do not work

I  have BO 4.0 Webi report with fold/unfold functionality(Outline). It works fine when I open it in Design mode but do not work in Reading mode. Could anyone please advise if they have faced such issue?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi All,
I checked with the BO authorization team who grant access to different user groups to access BO reports.  It means that I was not having the access rights to view my report in "Rich Internet Application" mode. Once the access permissions were granted to my user group. I see the option as highlighted in red below. To view the report in reading mode in BO 4.0 BI Launchpad, you should set the preferences as below:
    Thanks for your support.

  • Is there a way to view my firefox bookmarks online from any pc through a browser?

Is there a way to view my firefox bookmarks online from any pc through a browser?

    Hi!
Short answer is no. And unfortunately there's no really longer answer. Firefox Sync's vision and product design is to allow you to have all your information in all your browsers.
The really long answer is that they are some other projects on the works that will cover the case that you refer to: you are in a computer that is not yours and you want to access once with your home set-up. Unfortunately at the moment is just an idea.

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

  • Save as text and reader mode

Firefox needs a save as text setting. There is a save as text add on. However, twice the add on ceased working. Twice, I had to uninstall firefox, reinstall firefox and reconfigure the settings.
In the alternative, Firefox needs a 'select text' in its settings. The stock android browser has 'select text' in its settings. Click on 'select text', touch webpage, two arrows appears, spread arrows apart, touch screen, a pop up menu offers: share selected text or copy. I select copy. Open 920 text editor, create a new plain text file and then touch screen.. However, text is not copied. I have to repeat this whole procedure several times because text is copied into a new plain text file.
Whereas, Firefox cannot even bring up the pop up menu. I long press a paragraph in firefox. The two arrows appears. I spread them apart. I touch the screen. No pop up menu offering open to copy.
Nor is reader mode an alternate to saving as text. I have not be able to save a webpage in reader mode because the book icon is rarely displayed in the title bar. Why? Firefox's article on reader mode does not disclose what file format the files are saved as. Can the reader mode files be converted to plain text files or PDF to be later read on a computer?

    Hi badbiosvictim,
I see in the device information that you are running version 21. There were some improvements made in Firefox since then and I encourage you to see if the update helps resolve your copy and paste issue.
However there is also save page as pdf that you can save on the device and read in a file reader.
    I hope this helps!

I have purchased Acrobat professional xi to created protected acrobat file by disabling menu tool bar but there is no option to hide readmode navigation. Please let us know how to hide this.
    Thanks,

If you want the form "flattened", that is all form fields converted to PDF context, you need to use some JavaScript to flatten the form fields. This will remove all form functionality. It will not prevent editing by Acrobat's text touchup or object tools.
The "submit" button is used by other users to sent the PDF form data to a central collection site or email address where the sender or provider of the form can collect the submitted data.
You could also use a digital certificate to sign the form and lock the fields. The signature will also verify that no changes have been made to the PDF since it was signed and one could also see what was changed.

  • Opening Adobe Acrobat/Reader (1:1) in Firefox

    Hello all,
I realise this thread is very similar to others on this forum but having followed the posts and possible solutions I still cannot come to a successful outcome. Hopefully someone can help.
Firstly the error: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1:1)
This occurs when trying to launch a pdf from within an internet page.
I have version 10.1.2 of Adobe Reader
I am running Firefox version 10.0
I have attempted to uninstall and then reinstall Adobe, unchecked the enable protection mode in Adobe Reader X general settings and even tried tinkering with the registry edits but alas I still receive the above error message each time.
Could someone please provide an initial step-by-step problem solving approach to see where fault lies with my Adobe, bearing in mind the version of Reader and Firefox I have?
    Many, many thanks.

After a third uninstall and re-install I've managed to crack it.
    Thanks anyhow everyone.

Co-el, This wasn't possible as there wasn't a navigation bar available. The F11 did the trick though. Thanks for adding to the discussion.
