Reading pdf on ipod touch

Hello. I know I can load pdf files into iphoto and then sync them to the ipod, but, as I usually read scientific articles, iphoto makes some sort of file conversion that makes the pdf barely readable (since it can't be zoomed in on the ipod, what will make them blurry). Can anyone think of any solution for this?
Thanks in advance.

Well, actually I did try emailing them myself and access them on the ipod. This works fine in some files, but not all. And I would prefer a solution not depending on mail; what I would really like was to have some sort of library always available, and not depending on the number of mails I have in my inbox.
Thanks for your valuable answer, anyway.
Does someone else have an idea? Maybe if I could change the preferences when I import the pdf articles to iphoto, I mean, not making them reduce their resolution...

  • Read PDF on iPod Touch

Is it possible to read PDF files on the Touch ? and how ? (does a Mac software exist? or will exist?)

Yes, and sometimes you can even view PDFs that will crash Preview on a MacPro.
Try it for yourself (dl, open in preview - not in browser as that's Acrobat) - http://sberube.net/SimonBerubePortfolio.pdf
I don't know why, but my Acrobat Pro PDF crashes Preview and is fine in iPod touch.

  • How to view pdf in ipod touch 3g

I have an iPod Touch 3g that has ios 6.1.5 and can not be upgraded more than that.
i want to read pdf, ebooks, epubs and mobi format ebooks in my ipod.
need suggestions on which app to use and how to get the book files in my ipod.
recommendations download links or any kind of helping format is appreciated.

There should be an app compatible for your iPod.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
BTW, if you have iOS 6.1.5 you have a 4G (has cameras). A 3G can only go to 5.1.1
If you have a 4G you should be able to get iBooks using the last compatible version discussed above

  • Viewing PDFs on iPod Touch?

    Hi all
I am looking for a way to save PDF files and then view them without being connected to the internet via WiFi. I can save a PDF file from the file menu in Safari on Powerbook, but I am not sure how to do this on my iPod Touch. I was hoping to save some public transit maps for the city of Denver, as I will need to view them when I am not connected to the internet via WiFi.
    Thanks in advance

  • Access PDF on iPod touch 2nd gen

I have created a PDF document on my iMac and want to be able to take a copy with me on my iPod Touch 2nd generation. There are so many document applications out there that I don't know which one would simply do this one thing. Any suggestions?

Thank you. It took me a while to figure out how to do it but it works fine. Thanks again.

  • PDF on Ipod Touch

I downloaded 2 PDF's onto ITunes and then onto my Ipod Touch.... where do i find these at on my touch? In ITunes they are under Books, but there is no Books icon on the touch, so where did they go?

    Hello applela19,
Are you positive you synced these PDFs to your iPod? If so, how did you do it? Did you use the Books tab for your iPod in iTunes? If so, you should have an App that looks like this called iBooks where you can view your uploaded books/pdfs.
Or did you use another method and/or App?

  • ITunes cannot read contents of iPod Touch

Hi, I have come across the same issue as this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11125727
Differences lie in that I hardly have any non-standard apps installed, just 2 at the moment, and probably have (had) more songs.
I can't recall having done anything particular before it happened. I think it was simply connected to my computer.
The iPod itself works just fine, including both the apps on it and when trying to access music, it simply says there's "no content".
Now the question is simply: is there any way for me to get my iPod/iTunes to recognise the "content" (music) again without restoring my iPod?
If there is no way to do it and I have to restore: will it erase stuff like my notes and calendar (default apps) too?
    Thank you.

I am also having this problem.
Please, some information on the subject?

  • Reading on the iPod touch

Is it possible to bookmark the spot in a book I'm reading so I can return to that spot later? Will I lose my place if I choose to listen to music?

i assume you are using an ebooks app, like ereader or stanza (there are many around)?
in my experience, yes, apps usually save the spot you got to.

  • SD Card Reader for IPod Touch

Is anybody aware of the availability of an SD Card Reader for an iPod Touch?
    Thanks In Advance

There would need to be a downloaded application from Apple's ApStore, which would link to a card reader that fits into the charging/sync port at the bottom of the Touch. So far, nothing like that's been developed that we're aware of, and we're not sure Apple would even allow it because it would be an insecure route to transfer data/programs into the Touch or iPhone. Everything (so far)has to be ported to the device through the ApStore.
An SD card reader would be very useful for dongle-based applications or data readers, especially for PocketPC users.

  • IPod touch does not accept Sd card reader what do I do?

I bought a card reader for my iPod touch 5 gen. But when I try using it my iPod says this accessory is not supported by iPod touch

The card ready (really the iPad comer connection kit) ony works for the iPad mini and iPad 4 and then only for photos and videos.
    How about one of these

  • Ipod Touch & Reading

Could someone that does extensive reading on the Ipod Touch tell me if its do-able or tedious after a while.
That would be one of the main feature for my purchase.

If you like reading, tedious should not be in the question.
If you are aiming at reading in general, yes it is do-able. Safari, email, and other apps that take advantage of pinch-zooming allows reading to be easy. If you are referring to reading eBooks specifically, yes it is also do-able. This is coming from someone that hasn't read a book with the objective to complete it (reports, essays, research, etc.) I started back after the 10-year-gap of reading for fun.
There are apps that you have to pay for as mentioned in the other posts, but I currently use Stanza. I've been reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu since I bought my iPod Touch 3 weeks ago. I plan to expand my summer reading where most of my time will be free using iPod. I would have bought the paperback version of the book but that would require me to find it and carry it along constantly. With the iPod, I always have it with me and can add books on the fly over a wifi connection.
Hope this adds value to your thoughts about reading on the iPod Touch.

  • Ipod touch with windows vista

Hi,Im looking into geting the ipod touch, but I have read that the ipod touch does not work well with windows vista. I know the new itunes 7.5 just came out. Has that version fixed the problems with the ipod? Also what are the problems the ipod touch is haveing with vista. I have windows vista 32 bit OS. Thank you very much for your help.

Hey, yeah I have major problems syncing to Vista. The album artwork is assigned to the wrong songs or sometimes a chunk of the picture is not in the right place, some of my songs stop half way through the song then the iPod skips to the next song on the list. My movies periodically decide to crash and the only way to get past these spots is to skip ahead (which is very difficult on the iPod touch especially when the movie is long cause you dont want to miss too much) but yeah just letting you know that there ARE some issues with it not saying that yours will do the same but it might.

  • I'm probably being really stupid here, but I don't want my itunes library on my PC to sync/match exactly with my ipod touch, as it's only an 8gb one and I haven't got room on it for everything in my itunes library. I want to simply move stuff on and off

I'm probably being really dumb, but I can't work out how to remove music/vids etc from my ipod but retain them in my itunes library on my PC . I haven't got room for everything on my 8gb ipod touch. I just want to put stuff on there when I want to watch/listen to it. If it get's full I want to just take it off but put it back on at a later date. My ipod touch is new - I had an older generation ipod before and didn't have a problem with this. Is it because I have signed up to icloud or something? If so, how can I change it?

You can manually manage or you can sync by playlist/artist/album/genre/checked songs.
Maybe you should read the manual:
