Reading Personal Address Book from Forms 6i.

I need to read entries from outlook personal address book. I am using form 6i. Form should read entries in personal address book and return values back to form.
I can open a new mail message window to access outlook address book but my requirement is to read the entries of the address book.
I am planning to use DLLs (convert dlls into pll and access the functions of address book). But I did not do it yet. If anyone has done this kind before please share.
Please post your suggestions.

Any suggestions ?

  • Import personal address book from entourage to addressbook/mail

Whats the most reliable way to import the personal address from Entourage to Addressboo/mail
    Thanks

You can do so one of two ways.
With the Address Book application and Entourage launched with each partially visible on the Desktop, select a contact in the Entourage address book and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Select All.
Click and drag all selected/highlighted Entourage contacts to the Address Book "All" Group and then release.
If this doesn't work, create a folder on the Desktop. Click and drag all selected/highlighted Entourage contacts to the folder which will create a copy of each contact as a separate vCard file.
At the Address Book menu bar, go to File > Import and select vCards navigating to the folder on the Desktop which contains the exported Entourage contacts.

  • How do i transfer my address book from one computer to another

Old computer is XP new compiuter is 7. Mozilla Thunderbird is the email program. Both are installed on separate computers.

On your old computer (XP), go to Thunderbird (TB)
    select Address Book
highlight which address book you want (such as Personal Address Book)
from menu bar select Tools then Export
enter a name such as addresses.ldif Use LDIF rather than CSV format!
select a destination folder such as Documents
    click Save
copy the file (addresses.ldif) to your new computer via disk, memory card, or even email!
put the file in your Documents folder on the new computer (Win7)
On your new computer, go to TB
    select Address Book
from menu bar select Tools then Import
    click Address Books then Next
    highlight Text File (LDIF, ...)
    click Next
select the folder (Documents) and file (addresses.ldif) and click Open
    the addresses will be imported
    success! click Finish
    Notes:
The address book you import will take on the name of the file without the .ldif extension (e.g. addresses). You can rename the file before you import it. Just keep the .ldif extension.
If you want more than one word in the name, use an underscore instead of a space (e.g. Personal_Contacts). Don't use spaces! They really complicate things.

  • How do I change the default address book from the Personal Address Book?

Whenever I click on an email address from within an email and ask to add it to my address book, the contact is added to Personal Address Book. How do I change that so that new addresses will be added to another book?

I do not know of a way to change the default but after you click the star beside the address to add it to the address book, click the star a second time to open the edit dialog box. There is a drop down list of your address books to make the change there.

Whenever someone sends contact details to my iPhone, Contacts defaults the save to All Contacts, but won't add the contact to my personal address book.  How do i copy a contact from the All Contacts directory to my personal address book using the iPhone only?  Thus far it has been necessary to sync contacts through iTunes and then copy the vcf, but there must be an easier, more direct method … surely there must …
    Can someone help please?
    Many thanks

Ninety five percent of my customers are real estate agents. So have been hanging on to their 10-12 year old XPs. Ones with Outlook kept using it with the Win7 upgrades or new machines.
I did import one Outlook.pst file with lots of grouped addresses recently while it was still on the XP machine and didn't have this problem with it. Copying the TBird profile to Win8.1 was not a problem.
I suppose it is only characterized by OE and since OE is going away perhaps best to just forget the problem.

  • How to delete originnal Personal Address Book folder when importing address boook from another PC?

When importing an address book file into Thunderbird the original Personal Address Book remains as the default even though it's empty. Is there a way to delete this empty 'Personal Address Book'? Thanks .. Andy TB version 24.3.0

For some reason, ctrl+a didn't move the whole list. I had to move them one at a time. Is it so hard to let the user delete the Personal Address Book default and replace it with an address book of their choice?

  • How can I copy contact entries from the "Personal Address Book" to a subsidiary list without typing 500 individual entries?

There is about to be a death in the family. I need to establish a mailing list of all immediate family members, but it should not contain *EVERY* entry in either my Personal Address Book or my Collected Addresses. Is there something like a drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste facility to accomplish this task?

Check this article for more information on how to create a mailing list.
When sending a message to 500 recipients you may hit a limit imposed by your email provider.

  • How can I import address book from thunderbird on another computer

I just purchased a new laptop and have dowloaded Thunderbird for my e-mail as that was what I was using on desktop. I have 2 e-mail accounts, my personal e-mail addresses came thru with no difficulty however my other account the contacts in address book didn't come thru. So question is how can I get address book imported for this account too. My desktop is Windows XP and my laptop is Windows 8
    thanks for any help

The neat thing to do would be to copy the profile from the XP machine to the W8 machine. This would have transferred your messages, your account settings and your Address Book and much else.
Given that you have set up Thunderbird and have started using it, copying over the profile may not now be terribly attractive for you.
So, instead, you can export and import your Address Books.
On the XP computer, open the Address Book, select an address book (e.g. Personal Address Book), select '''Tools|Export''', select the name and location of a file to contain the exported data, choose LDIF and then Save. Repeat for each required address book. Give your LDIF files simple but meaningful names, such as PAB.ldif and CA.ldif. Don't use, for instance, ''Personal Address Book.ldif'', as this will create a second address book with the same name as one of the defaults and you won't be able to easily tell which is which.
Put the exported LDIF files where the W8 computer can see them, e.g. a USB memory stick.
On the W8 machine, open the address book, Tools|Import and select an exported LDIF file. It will import and create a new address book; you'll probably want to move the Contact data back to the usual address book. You can select all (ctrl+a) then drag-and-drop the imported Contacts to the preferred address book. Repeat for each LDIF file.
Having said that, I don't understand what you mean by "my personal e-mail addresses came thru with no difficulty however my other account the contacts in address book didn't come thru"; unless you have moved the profile folder over, I don't understand why ''any'' contacts should have transferred.
If you have in fact moved the profile folder, then I'm puzzled as to why the transfer of address books has been incomplete. However the export and import route should be able to reclaim the missing address book(s).

  • Personal Address Book in clients other than Outlook ( e.g. Thunderbird )

Does anybody know what the latest is on PAB integration in Thunderbird. This is a big turn-off for using JES. I am looking at the JCS for two reasons 1.) as an alternative to Ms proprietary lock-in and 2.) for an more open platform to integrate a some of our own software. It's quite frustrating that Sun are supporting Outlook almost exclusively. Convergence is great, but not a replacement for a thick email client. I really like Thunderbird but I can't access personal address books.
Any links for how to add a shared address book in Thunderbird? I'm sure I managed to sync at least the corporate address book when I reviewed JCS 5, but i can't remember and can't find a how to.
I have even considered writing a Thunderbird addon myself to access Address Books using ldap but it seems the PAB entries are locked by Directory Manager access and not available to the PAB user. Is there anywhere else to locate the PAB entries other than at "dn=piPStoreOwner=euan,o=potensol.com,o=PiServerDb" ?

It's quite frustrating that Sun are supporting Outlook almost exclusively.Sun is expending a large amount of resources (staff) into the Lightning project which is providing calendar functionality into Thunderbird. That is why there has been so much progress on this front over the past 12 - 18 months. Sun has also rolled Lightning out internally giving it even higher visibility.

I'm sure this group would appreciate any feedback, testing etc. that you could provide.

I'm sure I managed to sync at least the corporate address book when I reviewed JCS 5, but i can't remember and can't find a how to.Accessing the read-only corporate address-book should be relatively straight-forward. A quick google shows up a number of examples e.g.

Is there anywhere else to locate the PAB entries other than at "dn=piPStoreOwner=euan,o=potensol.com,o=PiServerDb" ?The other way would be to access the data using the WAPB protocol to the Convergence/UWC installation which is what Outlook Connector uses to access the address-book information. Unfortunately this protocol isn't yet publicly available. Feel free to push this with your Sun Account Manager.Regards,
Shane.Thank's Shane, your responses are always thorough and very helpful. Thanks for the link for LDAP shared address books in Thunderbird, I think that was the very article I used last time, should have bookmarked it.
I think it was harsh to say "It's quite frustrating that Sun are supporting Outlook almost exclusively.", I didn't realise they had involvement on the lightning project. Since my orignal post I have managed to install the plugin (v 0.8) and connect to my calendars. For feedback, so far it looks awesome, I was so impressed to see my tasks I added in convergence, in Thunderbird. I do recommend a 'how to' guide on Sun's website explaining exactly how to connect to it (couldn't find one myself from google). The 'how to' on mozilla's site forgets to mention that port must be specified (if it's not port 80, I use single-host deployment). Yet to try the experimental caching feature, will give feedback on that another time.
Will check out CardDAV shortly, thanks for link.
Overall, I am really happy with the JCS. If PAB and shared address book read/write/cache are implemented in Thunderbird/Evolution/Outlook then it would be the perfect comms suite. Servers seems to run really well although I have not put any real load on them yet. :-)

  • I want to make a new "Address Book" in Thunderdird's Address Book in addition to "Personal Address Book" and "Collected Addresses"

Is there a way in Thunderbird's Address Book to create additional collections of addresses, say "Professional Colleagues", in the same pane as "Collected Addresses" and "Personal Address Book". In other words, these latter two collections of addresses appear to be the default. Can I add additional collections?

  • Help with restoring Address Book from Time Machine

Problem: I really, really need to retrieve someone's number. I know it'll be in an old version of my Address Book. I can see when I open time Machine that my address book is backed up, but no matter the date I go to, it says the Address Book was last modified in 2012! I know for a fact I've updated (and backed up) the Address Book many times since then.
Whenever I try to restore the Address Book, I do Time Machine > Applications > Address Book > 'restore'. But whenever I do this, the mac refuses to open the restored Address Book because it's 'required by mac OS X'.
    I don't understand.
Please, how on earth do I dredge my Address Book from the depths of Time Machine?
    Please help!
    M

    Hello mb9236,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with restoring a contact from Time Machine.
It sounds like you are trying to restore the Address Book application.  The Address Book application is just the application and does not include the content in Address Book.
Instead, you will want to open Address Book and then launch Time Machine and restore your contacts from there.  Use the steps below to restore your contacts form a previous date (in step one instead of opening Mail or Finder, be sure you have Address Book open and in focus):
If you use Time Machine to back up your computer, you can easily bring back one or more items you’ve lost, or recover older versions of files you’ve changed.
Open a window for the item you want to restore. For example, if you accidentally deleted a file from your Documents folder, open the Documents folder. If you want to recover an email message, open your inbox in Mail.
If you’re missing an item from the desktop, you don’t need to open a window.
Click the Time Machine icon in the Dock, or open the Time Machine menu in the menu bar and choose Enter Time Machine. If you back up to a Time Capsule or other network disk, a message briefly appears while Time Machine connects your computer to the backup disk.
Use the arrows or the timeline along the right side of your screen to browse through all the snapshots and backups Time Machine created. Gray tick marks on the timeline represent snapshots stored on your internal drive (portable computers only). Pink tick marks represent backups stored on your backup disk.
If you need more information about an item, double-click to preview it. The windows in Time Machine behave just like Finder windows, so you can open folders, click items in the sidebar, and use the search field in the upper-right corner of the window.
When you find the item you want to restore, select it, and then click Restore. You can restore individual items, multiple items, folders, or your entire hard disk. The restored item is returned to its original location. For example, if the item was found in the Documents folder, it is returned to the Documents folder. Time Machine may ask if you want to re-create one or more folders in order to return a restored item to its original location.
If an item you restore has the same name as another item on your computer, you’re asked if you want to keep the current item, the restored item, or both.
You can use Time Machine from within many applications. For example, you can open Address Book and then click the Time Machine icon in the Dock to recover contacts you may have accidentally deleted, or open iPhoto and then click the Time Machine icon in the Dock to view past versions of your iPhoto albums.

  • Older version of Thunderbird suddenly updated itself to 13.3.0; where are the contents of my Personal Address Book - HELP!

Last night my old old version of Thunderbird suddenly updated itself to Ver. 13.3.0. I've finally fixed it to show my messages, but under "personal address book" there are no contents (and I had a lot of contacts). I back up my Profile files every night so I know which files are involved, but WHERE in the the Ver. 13.3.0 do I point it to see my collected contacts. I must admit that the "old" version of Thunderbird was very old (perhaps 7.6.0?) but I have had no need for any of the changes since the so have not updated; BTW, I do not like 13.3.0 as everything seems to be hidden. I cannot "export" from the old Thunderbird to the new version because I now don't have the "old" version. I cannot "import" from some other email program as I was using Thunderbird and I can't find any files in my Profile with the extensions mentioned in the "import" wizard. I hope someone can help me who understands where the secrets are hidden in the Profile files. Also, the information in the "Profile Manager" article don't seem to apply to my computer (Windows 7 Pro) so I wasn't able to pursue that. I'm not a programmer but I was really enjoying the older version of Thunderbird and hope someone can help me get my contacts back. Thank you so much.

This would be totally unsupported. . .
I suspect that the format of how PAB is stored would be incompatible with what Mozilla wants.

  • CCM6.0 - Personal Address Book as Customer Database

    Hi,
I have a client who was asking if he could utilize the "Personal Address Book" feature, a user can administer from the ccmuser page, as a database for all of his clients?
The idea is for when his employees need to look a up a particular contact/client all they need to do is press the Directories>Personal Address Book and do a search.
Could a csv file possibly be loaded to populate the fields? Just a thought?

    stephan.steiner,
Interesting...Is their any good documentation from cisco on making adjustments to the database on ccm 6.x?
