Ready to export the movie for dvd

So we are finally done the Mountain bike film we have been working, and bike magazean wants in in a few days. What is our best option for export? I usually use compressor to export? , Should i use it? Every thing was filmed on a dvx100 at 24p
Also, i want to put chapters in, so you can go to the different riders sections. How do i do this?

I found the most reliable way to get chapter markers from FCP into DVD SP was to create the markers in the timeline, and export... via compressor
I found the other routes lost the markers at one stage or another.
The only downside is its slower for a 2 pass encode that way, but does not require any extra HD space.
For the self contained vs. reference debate, I think the issue is that the render cache sometimes goes all funny, and associates the wrong renders in the timeline - another way to fix that is to clear the render cache before exporting a reference movie, or before exporting via compressor.
Again, it slows things down, but not as much as having to go back and do it twice anyway.....

Exporting FCP movie for DVD Studio Pro

I am finished with my movie. I am confused now on the exporting to DVD studio pro. How do I do this? My viewer also would like it to be in widescreen because they had just bought a HDTV widescreen.
So how do I go about this. I have made many with iDVD but this will be my first with Studio Pro.

The most important thing you can do to help us answer your question is to give us the specs on your project. Open Final Cut Pro and click into your sequence. Then go to the menu "sequence" and go to "settings" or simply hit a command-0 (the number not the letter). Then tell us the frame size and the compressor used. From that information, we can get a better idea on how to help you: it is best to start any post with this information.
To export the best quality, go to file -> export -> QuickTime Movie...
From there, export using current settings, include audio and video, and make sure the bottom two boxes are checked (recompress all frames and make self-contained)
Once that file is created, import into DVD SP and you're done. Don't worry about compressor or other formats right now. This will give you the best picture with the minimum amount of headaches. Let us know how it turns out.

Export FCP movie for burning in iDVD

I created a 30 minute movie in Final cut pro. When I exported the file, it was 25 gig. I want to burn the movie to DVD in Imovie and obviously it was a smidge large.. What are the best and most effective settings in FCP to do this. I am new to FCP so any help is greatly appreciated.

It doesn't matter how large the file is.
Drop it into iDVD and iDVD should compress it to a suitable size for a DVD.
The only measurement that matters is the length as iDVD cannot deal with projects longer than around 2 hours.

What version of iMovie are you working with? Is your end goal that you need to play the file on a Windows computer, or is it that you need to burn the file to DVD?

If you export the iMovie file as a .mov file, you can play it in iTunes for Windows on your PC.
If you want the ability to burn to DVD, then you may consider downloading the free 30 day trial of our professional video application. Final Cut Pro X can import your iMovie project and burn it to DVD.

Export 16x9 Anamorphic for DVD Studio Pro for TV

My movie is 16x9 Anamorphic DV on a 3:2 Anamorphic timeline... I want to export the movie in the highest possible quality for a DVD made in DVD Studio Pro. This DVD is for view on TV.
What is the best way to do this? Meaning the way most indie filmmakers would do it for a festival DVD?

what is the exact audio option that I should be selecting in compressor? I do not see ac3? Closest is AAC 128kbps. Where are the correct audio options located in compressor? They are not under DVD 90 Folder... Thanks

When using imovie and converting to idvd the cd ejects before the burn is complete. how can I burn the movie for viewing?

when in idvd the disc ejects before multiplexing and burning are completed therefore the disc has issues when viewing. there are damaged areas. Is there a work around to burn the movie?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

Exporting FCE movie to DVD

Do I really have to go thru iDVD in order to burn the movie to DVD? or after directly exported to QT, I can burn it directly to DVD.

If you want to produce a playable DVD (meaning a DVD that can be played in a DVD player) then you need to use iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, Toast or other DVD authoring application to create your DVD. In all such cases, you need to export from FCE to QuickTime Movie (not QuickTime Conversion).
If you merely want to burn a QT file to DVD media then you don't need any of the DVD authoring apps. All you need is the Finder or Disk Utility. It will burn your QT movie to the DVD media, but it won't be playable in a regular DVD player, only on a computer that has QT installed. (Similar if you create an MPEG4, WMV or similar file.)

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

Duplicate your book and try to change the theme in the copy. Chnaging the theme may change the layout of your text fileds. That is why you need the copy to be able to compare the pages before and after.
Ctrl-click the book in the Source list and select "Duplicate".
Click the "Change Theme" button in the upper right corner of the Book pane, make sure, you have the same theme selected and the same size. Click Hardcover.

Exporting to .mov for Youtube = corrupted file. Please help!

Hi guys. Here's my problem. I created a piece of stop motion animation using iStopmotion. The clip is just over a minute long. I imported it to iMovie so that I could add some sound and some fancy titles/credits. At this point, everything appears to be working fine.
I then export my finished movie as a Quicktime file so that I can post it on Youtube. If I play back the Quicktime file on my computer, it works perfectly. However, as soon as it's uploaded to Youtube, playback stops at a certain point even though the red time bar continues to the full length of the film. You can drag the little time slider past the point at which the film stops prematurely, but it shows nothing but black and snaps back to the premature cut-off point. I've tried exporting the movie as an mpeg4 file instead and the same thing happens.
I've even tried going back to the source iStopmotion file, editing it by altering the order of the frames near this problem point - yet when I upload to Youtube it stops playing at exactly the same point. I've tried altering every step of this movie's creating several times but it always freezes at roughly the same point when I'm viewing it on Youtube. I have also tried clearing my browser's cache, no success there either.
My friend suggested that the file had been corrupted somehow. Please can anyone shed some light on this, as I've spent hours trying to get it to work and am not starting to lose my sanity!

I've just solved my own problem. It's not an issue with iMovie as such, but I will post my solution here anyway in case anybody else experiences the same problem (and frustration) that I did.
My iMovie project featured a brief 2-second soundclip as the only soundtrack on the whole film. As soon as this audio clip finished, Youtube stopped playing the movie. I assume this is because Youtube assumed the clip had finished because the sound level had reduced to zero. To fix this, I copied, pasted and muted the audio clip using iMovie so that the rest of the film featured a muted audio track.
This has solved the problem and now Youtube plays my video in its entirety!

When I finish editing my video, how can I export it to a DVD, in a format compatible with every computer or DVD player, instead of making just a quicktime movie?

The DVD authoring application converts it into a format used by DVD players. North American DVD players are in a different standard from the rest of the world and are not compatible with DVDs created in Europe and elsewhere.

Export MPEG2-DVD from PPro, and then use the bundled Encore CS6 to author your DVD... you import TWO files (audio and video) from your export
