Ready to Smash Ipod!

Hi everyone
Ok here's my issue ive been trying to get my 30 gb ipod to restore and sync for a week now, ive gone through all kinds of trpubleshooting and i FINALLY got it to restore after installing itunes 7.0 on a diff comp everything was going great the ipod updated and began loading my library after 2 hours (i have over 3000 songs) Itunes popped up an error message saying the ipod could not be updated the required file couldn't be found. i clicked on the ipod in the source list and only 3 songs were loaded on it and it says there is over 13gb of "other" on it. i disconnected it and reconnected it and now thats all it says "The ipod "ipod" cannot be updated the required file cannot be found" i click ok then it says it cant be updated the disc cannot be read from or written to and now when i click on on the ipod in the source list i cant click restore or anything and its not giving me the info on the ipod... I am soo ****** at this thing.

Well the 13GB of "other" seems to be a problem, since you wrote you're not syncing anything but music. The "other" usually is photos.
All I can suggest right now is changing the iPod's drive letter to something way down in the alphabet, like M: and see if it behaves any better.
Close iTunes down while you're doing this.

  • =] Ready For An iPod!!:

I am ready for an iPod!! =]
They are energy efficient and an excellent way to listen to music,
unlike radio stations which might have reception problems and some radio stations talk all the time and have radio shows. I do not like radio stations that think they are television. }=S
I can't take it anymore and I must purchase an iPod!!!!!!
I listen to music all the time. It is very stress relieving. =]
I am surprised because I thought iPods were much more expensive.
I have picked iPod nano...but before I purchase it I will purchase an iPod shuffle because they cost less. Not that much less but I am desperate for iPods. I plan on buying at least one each year and in different colors. I think I will purchase them at the Apple Store.
Questions about iPods (These may be the dumbest questions in the world) :
Are they heat sensitive? I assume they are. If I get one soon I will get it at Wal*Mart...
Do they sell them at Wal*Mart? Because if I get one in the mail right now it will probably melt the iPod.
iPod classics have more space, but since they have hard drives, and hard drives are moving parts, do they break easily?
I read that an iPod Nano burned up while charging to a computer. How do I charge an iPod?
and perhaps the dumbest question ever, but I have to be sure of this:
Do they continue playing songs?????? Do they have repeat and shuffle features? I know that iTunes does, but I must know if iPods do.

  • I am at the point were im just about ready to smash my ipod against the wal

my ipod seems to be frozen. it turns on ok but freezes as soon as it displays something. And Ive already tried the 5 r's

Right... might be time for a trip to an Apple store to see if the guys there can help. Might at least prevent you damaging the wall...
Seriously, have you left it overnight, powered it down, etc, etc? What do you see on the screen when it is frozen? Is the click wheel making any noise?

    - If they are in an iPod backup then restore an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If they are in the iTunes backup then get them from the backup by:
    - Maybe via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos
Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS: iPhone Data Recovery - Wondershare Official
The above programs may also get them from the iPod after you place in recovery mode and restore via iTunes.
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Help...Please Prevent Me From Smashing iPod With Hammer

My Nano crashes my computer everytime I connect it. What the ** is going on & how do I fix this issue???

Don't! The problem is not the iPod is the computer... but no need to smash it
Windows XP crashing means it's probably an USB driver problem. Can you use other USB devices? You may have to re-install the driver.
Another thing to check, does iTunes work? Do you see, in Task Manager, a bunch of processes installed along side iTunes: AppleMobileDeviceService, iPodService, iTunesHelper, mDNSResponder?
You have some diagnosing to do.

  • QuickTime Install Failed Error Code -3 - At Wits End Ready to Return IPOD

I have been trying to install QuickTime with Windows XP for the past 8 hours. First, I receive the message Install Failed Error Code -3. Then I uninstall software and download and get Error 1722 and the Error 1603 Fatal Error. I'm in a vicious loop of installing/uninstalling. Called Apple technical support and they walked me through the same steps I've been going through all day and I still have the same results. I'm ready to return my daugheter's iPod. I have looked at all the technical help available and have completed every recommended solution with no success. What am I missing? Suicidal in Chocolatetown, USA.

switch off antivirus and antispyware applications
    Download Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
Run the install from your hard drive, not over the internet
    That should fix you up.

  • About ready to smash my T60...

Just reformatted......... now I can't access windows updates at all... This is complete BS..  I get to the website that has the options to get the express updates or custom updates, i click on express, and i get this message: The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. I also set windows update on the computer to a certain time, and nothing happens at all during the scheduled time for windows update. No downloads or anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. The error # is 0x8024400A

First, smashing your T60 won't solve anything.
Second, the problem is with Windows, not with the T60.
Third, a simple Google on the error code indicates that this isn't an unusual problem. The first search result gives a link to a Microsoft support page, Windows XP Windows Updates Error Code 0x8024400A, that explains what to do to make Windows Update work again.

  • About ready to chuck iPod in Trash (Connection issue)

I've been searching theese forums for an answer as to why my iPod Video, hardly a month old, no longer works.
    It is exhibiting a number of problems;
    1) The battery wont charge anymore
    2) itunes wont detect it anymore
    3) windows doesn't recognise it anymore
    4) When I try to play a song, it takes about 10 seconds to start playing and some of them wont play.
    5) While its trying to play theese songs, I can literally see the battery draning away to nothing.
The first warning sign I noticed was about 3 weeks ago, when one morning I tried to play a song. The song wouldn't play, and the batter went from half full down to about 1/4 over the cource of a couple seconds.
Later that night, I tried to charge it, and I believe it did charge. A couple days later, the ipod could no longer communicate with my computer. I hadn't charged it since the last time i mentioned.
I posted my problem on October 15th, and havn't been able to use my iPod since. I have come to realise that it is a big problem, and if I had known i would have returned it, but this is no longer an option for me.
I dont know what to do at this point, and I think my next step is to throw the thing in the garbage so that I can start mourning all the hours it took working in a crappy minimum wage job, while going to college, to buy the thing.

hey, if you dont want it, you can give it to me :P
it should still be covered by apples warranty, unless theres some kind of physical damage to it. your best bet is to send it to apple to get it fixed, or to me, your choice.

  • Smashed iPod Touch screen in UK... where do you go to if you need it fixed?

Where can you send an iPod touch in the UK, besides the Apple Store (which is about 80 miles away, the closest one).
For iPhones i know you can go to O2. Can you get it sent off from where you bought it (e.g. Argos?)
    Thanks

You posted the following bellow in another question and then said you got it fixed. I am having the same problem. How did you fix it?
    You said
Hi, this is the info of the Extreme:
    -IP 192.168.0.2
    -NAME Seagate FreeAgent 102D
I have tried the following advise at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1331
    "Windows XP and Vista
Note: With AirPort Base Station Update 2007-002 or later, AirPort Disk Agent has been renamed to AirPort Base Station Agent. If you have not installed this update yet, substitute AirPort Disk Agent for AirPort Base Station Agent in the steps below.
Mounting using AirPort Base Station Agent
    1. Launch the AirPort Base Station Agent from C:
    Program Files\AirPort\
    2. Ensure that the task bar menu is enabled from AirPort Disks
    3. Click the AirPort Base Station Agent icon in the Taskbar
    4. Enter the user name and password
Mounting by mapping a Network Drive
    1. Go to My Computer (Start > My Computer)
    2. From the menu, pull down Tools and select "Map Network Drive"
    3. Enter a drive letter that is not in use (for example, "Z")
    4. Enter the path to the drive. This is formatted as: \\IPaddress\drivename (for example, \\10.0.1.1\mydrive)
    Mounting using Server Connection
    1. Select Start > Run and enter the IP address of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n). (by default
    10.0.1.1)
    2. When prompted, enter a username and password
    3. A window will open containing folders for each hard drive connected to the AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n)"
    I have tried this:
    \\192.168.0.2\Seagate FreeAgent 102D
    It says
Attempted to connect to \\192.168.0.2\Seagate FreeAgent 102D...
Then I am given a message of
"The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occured:
The Specified server cannot perform the requested operation."
Or that the drive is not working correctly.
    If i just type "
192.168.0.2" in on its own it takes me to my own computer with my printers and public folder.
    HELP?

  • How much does it cost to replace a smashed ipod touch 4th gen 8g screen?

I was getting my iPod out of my bag when I didn't notice someone running towards me, they bumped into me and I dropped my iPod by mistake and when I picked it up there was a massive crack in the screen, does my apple warranty cover this or will I have to pay to get the screen replaced? if so, how much will it cost?

This is a kind of bad crack, but its not directly in the screen, so i cant tell you an exact price. if you want go to a local store who fixes devices or just go to the apple store. also its not like right throught the screen so you might just be better keeping it like it is. BUT again, if its the first crack you ever had on it there is a good chance they will fix it for free
