Ready to take a sledgehammer to my WRT110, anyone care to try to help?

hey, i have a WRT110 and have been having tons of issues with it. i recently bought a motorola droid cell phone which has wifi. when i first tried connecting it to wifi when it connected it would kick every computer or device in the house off of the network. i was able to eventually fix it, but i have no idea how, i just screwed around with things and it eventually worked and has been working fine since.
a few nights ago i bought a bran new HP laptop and since buying it i have been having constant issues where it will drop the connection on every device in the house and then magically come back a minute later, and then drop again and come back again. it's a constant completely random cycle. i called linksys and they were no help. they kept trying to blame my ISP, but i 100% know it's not my isp or modems fault. we couldn't get into the advanced setting, the page just wouldn't load. they finally said they would replace it. i went online to go through the online RMA process but it's asking for a credit card and i do not have one. i'll call them in the morning to see what other options i have.
later in the evening i tried using my PS3 and it won't connect to the router. it cant lock onto the IP address. 
at this point though i have no faith in linksys products and am about ready to just buy a netgear and smash thing with a sledgehammer unless somebody can help me.

If the device has been recommended for replacement/RMA then it may probably be defective. when you connect your computer directly to your modem and the connection still drops, then it could be an ISP issue. if you think that it's the wireless signal that's dropping, you might wanna try playing around with the wireless settings on the router - change channel, change SSID, set WEP/WPA.

    If the center portion of the monitor is flickering then your GPU on the logic is bad or (unlikely given this symptom) that your monitor cable is pinched/damaged.
    **Imediately backup ALL your important data while you can still see things on the monitor
    Contact Apple for appt. for in shop diagnostics for full examination and for parts replacement
    nobody can give you a cost on a repair that isnt fully diagnosed online and cannot be.
    perform SMC reset just to check:
    Shut down the computer.
    Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    Press the power button to turn on the computer. 

  • Ready to take off no boot up

    I personally not a G5 owner but have worked with them at my work place where we have many G5s 2.0 ghz dual rigs, in the past we had a few go into this all fans running full bore no boot up, but soon found it was tied to faulty video cards as a swap with a known good video card verified this, cards replaced and no problem since then, however recently a different unit started this all fans on full bore as soon as you hit power button, no boot up just ready for take off it sounds like. So obviously first thing checked was swap known good video card into unit, however this changed nothing, this sound like a logic board gone bad? I am at a loss on this one but I am trying to be helpful at work. It is because of what I have witnessed with repair and reliability issues on our G5's at work is the main reason I personally stay with G4's, but note these G5's seem to be a whole different animal than my trusty G4's

    Well, anything that interrupts the startup will cause the fans to go wild... for safety's sake.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

    Yes, I've been using it for months. And I can charge other devices with it. (my iPhone) but something weird just happened..... I kept on pluging it in the iPod and sometimes it would start to chàrge then sometimes it won't charge. Charges every time with the iPhone though.

    Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

    Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.

    Apple Support, I have just purchased 3 movies 2 from my account and 1 from my wifes account and both systems are stating that it will take 2 days to download.  I have a FIOS 150 megabit per second up and 150 megabit per second down busiuness class fiber service to my location.  I have tested downloading 10Gbyte files from two other locations and both work fine.  I additionally went out and have tested doing speed tests (http://www.speedtest.net/) from over 10 other locations all over the US and all are over 75 magabits per second download speeds with a few hitting 100 and 125 megabit per second speeds.  What is wrong with your servers or your internet connection????
    This is VERY FUSTRATING!!!
    I have additionally tried to download them with my Apple TV and two different PCs all wired on Gigabit Ethernet with jumbo frames enabled.  I have tried differnet DNS servers also.  I can upload and download files to my office 50G in less than 1 hour.  I have also download movies from 2 other movie sites without any problems.

    If you are just seeing the Terms and Conditions link in the Downloads tab then that just means that there aren't any downloads waiting. If you want to browser the store then can are you not able to tap on the other tabs at the bottom of the app ?
    If you are looking for your downloaded and synced content then they won't be in the iTunes app (that is just the store)  - your music, audiobooks and audio podcasts will be in the Music app and your films and tv shows in the Videos app.

    I am going nuts. I got an iPod Nano today, and being as I already had the iPod shuffle, I thought I could just hook it up and fly at 'er. But no... I am ready to pitch the computer out the window. I am given a message when I hook the nano up that I need to update to iTunes7. All well and good, I follow through with what I think are the necessary steps. I go to the site, and click on download now, and no downloading occurs, but a thanks for downloading sign pops up on the next page. What am I doing wrong? I have been here for over six hours, and I'm so frustrated. Please help!!

    I had the problem, too. First, make sure all of your pop-up blockers are off. One time I tried downloading it and it went straight to the "Thank You" page, but with no box saying to Run or Save As. After I checked my pop-up blocker, I noticed the box had been blocked. When I turned it off, it worked fine.
    Since I'm having other problems, I've had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes and QT about 7 or 8 times now (still having stupid problems though). The second time the same thing happened..it went straight to the "Thank You" page. My pop-up blocker was turned off, so I just hit the back button, refreshed the page, and tried again. It took a couple of times, but eventually the box popped up to download the new iTunes.
    I hope this will help you. :o) I'm off to try and fix my problem now. I've been working on it for 4 days now. I might just take that swandive out the windown with you! Haha :o)

    Nearly ready to upgrade to LP7...need advice on more gear.
    Longtime Logic user, my old rig running with an Audiowerk 8 card (dont laugh too hard please, its worked great for years! ).
    Now, after purchasing a MBP and LE7 ... how best to upgrade even further, to be able to record say 4-8 tracks (live instrument) at a time, into the optical or Firewire ports. I have an external 750Gb FW drive.
    Also have a Mackie 16 chnl mixer and hoping to find a way to send the Master stereo pair (or maybe even track inserts) from the Mackie to the optical or FW input of my MBP. But how to do this ? Im guessing there's a box or gizmo somewhere that would be perfect.
    Unfortunately, all of the boxes and gizmos Ive looked at so far seem to duplicate functions I already have, esp mic preamps (dont need any more of those !). I prefer 19" rackmount devices as they work well with portability, and fit into my SKB rig easily.

    if you really want to use the pre's on your mackie, and it has multiple bus/aux outputs which I presume it does, then you can easily set up a device such as the 828 to take all your input channels from the mackie, and then to run a bunch of return pairs back out to it.
    depending on your budget there are prob a few others for you to look at. RME and metric halo always get rave reviews from users, but are pricier. also the focusrite sapphire might be worth a look, as well as the apogee ensemble.
    also I just noticed you are using logic express, not pro. so there may be some limitations on the number of simultaneous inputs and outputs that I'm unaware of.

  • I'm getting ready to take a class

    I getting ready to start a class that requires Lightroom and was wondering if I can install it on my home PC and either my Surface RT or one of my older laptop to carry to class. Also has anyone tried to load it on a surface RT? I haven't open it yet. I have been trying to contact Adobe support but all their page does is take you in circles...I looked at the forums  but WANT to talk to a person.

  • [SOLVED] unetbootin has me ready to take hostages!

    Okay, that's a little 'ranty', but I've just spent literally 8-10 hours over the past two days trying to get a bootable USB drive working with my Asus laptop. (Dual-boot Windows 8/Arch Linux.)  I have a friend that's going to be converting from Windows XP to Lubuntu and I was testing the possibility of installing from a USB stick.
    32-bit .isos, 64-bit .isos, burned from different Arch installs on 3 different boxes all resulted in a USB that would NOT be recognized by the Asus.  Hours spent in the BIOS tweaking settings....all for naught.
    It finally worked after using something called Rufus under Windows 8 (first attempt, right out of the box).  I've successfully used unetbootin in the past, so I'm completely baffled as to what has changed.   I see no configurable options in unetbootin to account for GPT tables, etc (which I'm not even completely clear on.)   
    Perhaps user error:  Maybe there's something I should be doing in gparted to the USB stick BEFORE using unetbootin, but I haven't figured out what that is yet...
    They say, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear"...  Consider me ready for a lesson...  :-/

    I clearly disappeared down the unetbootin rabbit hole...it never occurred to me there might be an Arch-centric (and fairly straight-forward) way to make a bootable USB drive!   Too myopic in my noobish frustration!
    Lesson learned!

    I am the very happy owner of a an iBook 406 (Power PC G3) running System 9.2.2 and System 10.1.something. Perhaps needless to say, I rarely venture into the mysterious wilds of OS X. I'm hoping some kind and informed soul can answer my questions three. . .
    1. Enticed by a really cheap refurbished iPod Shuffle, I bought some software and am going to be upgrading to 10.2.8. Before actually doing anything, though, I want to make sure that the upgrade won't reinitialize my hard drive or touch any of my System 9 stuff, just improve the OS X section of the hard disk.
    2. I have a huge number of documents created by a truly ancient version of Microsoft Word (version 4.?, I think, purchased in 1993). What is the easiest way to translate all of these things into some format that doesn't require Classic run?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    OS X is really not mysterious, although it is very different from OS 9. Once you get the hang of it you will love it.
    First of all, I suspect that your iBook is the iBook (Firewire) 466 introduced in September 2000. It will supoort the latest version of OS X, but you may need to Update your firmware.
    I also suggest upgrading your RAM to 576 MB to be able to run OS X smoothly. You can check out the prices of popular brands of RAM at ramseeker.
    I further suggest that you consider upgrading to Panther (10.3x) rather than Jaguar. To install Panther your computer will need to meet the minimum system requirements for Panther.
    Take a look at Mac OS Support-Jaguar for information about Jaguar. You will need to purchase the Full Retail version of Jaguar or Panther. You can purchase universal installer versions guaranteed to install at applerescue
    Be aware that Computer specific or upgrade versions should be avoided since they are optimized for the computer to which they are specific and will therefore very likely cause problems during or after installation. On the legal side, it may be a violation of the Software License Agreement which statesThis License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time...
    I suggest that you backup your entire computer to an external Firewire Drive using a utility like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. Then completely wipe you disk and install, or do an erase and install.

    I have had two Android phones. And while my experience with them has not been terrible, it has left something to be desired. So when my contract is up in early December I am seriously thinking of going with the Iphone 5 ( or whatever it will ultimately be called ).  My question to the Iphone users is what can I expect?  I have never owned ANYTHING Apple. Am I in for a long transition period? Are Iphones so vastly different from Androids that it will take a lot of getting used to?

    I just switched from Android to iPhone 4s and absolutely love it. It is a personal thing to choose, but I had  Android phones that were ruined by "updates", Droid X, then the HTC Inc. 2. So I went with the iPhone as my wife has one and I got to play with before I switched. I like the fact that I can deal with Apple directly and not Verizon or the mfg. I was able to put Apple Care on my phone for $99 thus dropping Verizons costly insurance, granted it does not cover lost or stolen but the breakage replacements are significantly cheaper $49. Anyways as I said its a personal choice but one I'm glad I made.
