Real Media .rm files Can they convert to ipod format somehow?

I have several .rm (real media) files that I cannot seem to get converted into an IPOD format with any software I have tried.
Any suggestions or am I just wasting money downloaded software that says it can conver .rm but doesn't?
Please can anyone help!!!

Nope, not frustrated at all by the "media limitations" of the iPod.
I actually read the supporting media, website description, specs of the device.
I knew in advance it would not support windows media or real media(both bad and in real medias case all but dead).
Apple supported industry standardized, open non-proprietary codecs-just like they do in quicktime.

  • Convert iMovie to Real Media (.rm) file

I need to create a Real Media (.rm) video for my class but I haven't found a way to convert the video I created in iMovie to that format. Is there a way? I've tried flip4mac and looked at ffmpegX, but I don't think they solve my problem.
Thanks for any help you can give.

If you really need Windows Media, you need to purchase the Studio or Studio Pro version of Flip4Mac.  It will give you the proprietary codecs. See this link.

However, I agree with Karsten and Limnos that MP4 should be good for most purposes.

  • Which files can QT7 convert?

I am trying to put DVD movies on my ipod, and I recently purchased Cucusoft's software to do this...I was wondering, though...If QT7 can convert .vob and .ifo files to mpeg4s?

QuickTime can "play" MPEG-2 formats using the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).
It still can't export audio from muxed track formats.
Get MPEG Streamclip (free). It and the component can export to other QT formats, including the settings used on the iPod.

  • Muxed Video Files, how to unmux and convert to iPod format?

    Hi,
I recently learned that all my music video files are muxed. I just bought Quicktime Pro learning from a support rep. that that program will do the job. Wrong, and a waste of 30.00, I think. I was wondering if there was anyway to unmux these files so i can convert them to an iPod format using Quicktime Pro? Any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

No, QuickTime Pro won't work with muxed files. You'll have to use something like Videora to convert them to iPod format.

  • Can't convert to FLV format like I used to

I have a QuickTime Pro license and I am up-to-date. I used to be able to convert an avi file to flv format for use in Adobe Flash. Now I get an error saying "Wildform Flix Exporter encountered a problem. This version of Flix Exporter is not licensed to run under the current application." What's up with that? How do I now convert to FLV format? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the primary reason I upgraded to QuickTime Pro in the first place. Plus, I find trying to get to the right place to even ask this question to be extremely time consuming and frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

QuickTime Pro has never exported to Flash video without third party software.
Seems like your "Flix Exporter" ( http://www.on2.com/index.php?316 ) is that third party application.

  • Where do I get the "Microsoft Windows Media Services"? Can't use my Ipod without it.

Firefox Plugin Site doesn't HAVE the "Microsoft® Windows Media Services", which allows the use of Ipod Music.

  • Not converting to ipod format

Hi, have read all the discussions relating to reformatting videos. I have .mov file, tried to convert via Videora and PSPware and both have failed. We have tried to eliminate all possibilities, but cant tell why we can't transfer to ipod even just as .mov file. Is this an issue with the type of file or is there something I should be doing to transfer to ipod?

  • Videos converted to ipod format have no sound

I just got a new nano and I have some videos I'd like to synch to it. But when I have iTunes convert them to ipod format I lose the sound. How do I fix this??

I can't make a good recommendation since I avoid Windows like the plague.
As a Mac user, I can only relay info that I have read on these forums.
I believe users have had mixed results with Videora iPod Converter. Some people rave about it, some people hate it.
I'm not too sure what else is out there.
I'm sure a Windows user will post here soon with some other recommendations.
EDIT: Just noticed that MPEG Streamclip has a Windows version now. You might want to check that out.

  • Creating PC Friendly Real Media Player files...

Hi, at work we are trying to stream our videos onto our website and have been having difficulties. We need to convert our QuickTime files to Real Player Media for them to stream properly on the Video on Demand. For some reason we CANNOT use QuickTime only Real Player Media. I have no idea why, that's just what the IT told me. The way the PC system works it's only Real Player friendly. Does anyone know of a procedure or an application that can do this? I couldn't figure anything out using Compressor...

Well we were able to make the necessary .wmv files using Flip4Mac but still can't figure out how to create Real Player Media files that we need for video on demand. Any suggestions?
