Real Nokia 5610 doesn't play Video in QVGA at 30fp...

Hi all, I really disappoint that my Nokia 5610 doesn't play any resolution of video at 30fps, even i've tried whatever bitrate, whatever resolution (QVGA, QCIF, ...), whatever audio bitrate, it still can't play back smoothly with 30fps, onlt 15fps it supports. So why Nokia provide such imperfect information to us. My friend 5610 also can't playback 30fps, QVGA.

The codecs printed by Nokia are
H.264 (base profile, main profile, high profile), MPEG-4, VC-1, Sorenson Spark, Real video 10
Streaming: H.264, Flash Lite 4 (Flash 10 compatibility for video), On2 VP6, Sorenson Spark
However I haven't had a problem playing anything , as long as the file is smaller than 2 Gig !

Firefox doesn't play video and audio, cann't download anything!

A very strange problem occurred a few days ago. I didn't pay attention on it at first ( I thought it was caused by my provider) but now I found that it's a real problem. Firefox doesn't play video or audio. For instance, it starts loading and that's all. The same is with playing music. In addition, I can't download any files and view a big image as quick as early.
What is more interesting sometimes Firefox just begins to work in ordinary way.

There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might also work.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give this player a try:

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
Is there an easier way?

Satellite 2800-500 DVD doesn't play video DVD-ROM SD-R2002

My DVD doesn't play videos . CD rom works fine. but when I put DVD it makes a sound as if it would play , the drive's light would stay on but the DVD would not play. I live in Europe and the regional settings is at 2 which is ok.The DVDs play on another PC. I am running Windows ME. Any suggestions please? Is there anywhere to download the driver for Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2002.

I have updated the system up to the latest - Maverick. After that QuickTime Player doesn't play video.avi. I have tried restarting the app - worthless. Yet, it has been showing 'Converting' for 30 mins. Please, help!

1. Does it always take that long to convert a file (more than 30 mins)? It seems that it doesn't work. It stops at the beginning and than nothing changes.
2. Since when QuickTime needs convertation for avi? I thought this is a standart format.

Hi Nels, I had the same problem, and I have discovered the solution, it´s fairly simple:
Go to: Safari / Preferences click on the tab extensions and there you will probably have extensions set to ON, you just have to turn extensions OFF (the alternative plugin (DivX) is causing this video error.

Photo Booth doesn't play videos anymore

Hi all
Today I realized that, on my iMac Core Duo, Photo Booth doesn't play videos it record ( I saw the thumbnails but screen remains black when I select one) while they can be played by any other player on the computer, and from iphoto and imovie as well if I export them, all after the Mountain Lion update.
The issue doesn't occur with my MacBook Pro i7, with approximately same software installed but I can't find a solution anyway.

now i have problems with the drag and drop background effect. i can't drop images there anymore. : / haven't found any thread on here talking about this issue.

Nokia N8 unable to play videos.

I've recently been having problems playing any type of video on my N8, including videos recorded from the phone's camera. Basically all it plays is the sound from the video and displays a black screen with the video title and a small picture of broken film.
I got the phone just before the new year and everything was fine for the first couple of months until this problem showed up. It would play all video's I stuck on there and play recorded video just like it should but I recently had a problem updating some firmware which would keep failing to install. My firmware update history shows an update called 'Videos' that failed but there's no option to redownload the patch. Is this the problem behind me not being able to play videos and is there anything I can do about it?
I've also reinstalled the phones firmware from the Ovi suite but nothing appears to have changed. Also, while my phone was hooked up to the Ovi suite, I synced my contacts to try and update a few numbers in Windows contacts, but my phone now has 2-4 duplicates of each number and the phone will display only the number (not the contact name) of some contacts when they ring me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as im starting to lose my rag with this bloody phone.

The only thing I could think of would be a hard reset. But this will remove many things from your device.

toma3721, does this help? Please use MediaInfo to check your current formats and then use FFmpeg to convert. However, I noticed a problem with some microSD cards. Who made yours? I recommend to use a standard-speed genuine one from SanDisk.

IPhone 4 doesn't play video

Ever since I updated to iOS 7 my phone has lag like I've never seen. All around the phone is slow now but it didn't bother me too much. What bothed me the most was that when my phone tries to play video from anywhere (YouTube, camera roll, email) it will play it in 1 or less fps as if I was just watching a slideshow. My brother has the same phone and same problem when he updated but I thought it was just his phone until I updated too.

Firefox will not play videos in or out of U-Tube. . All videos play in I.E. ver 11.0.10 without an issue
In Firefox I get a large black square that reduces to a black bar and then when I place the cursor in the area where the video should be I see a flashing rotating circle.

On the MSN site, could you open the Web Console (Ctrl+Shift+k) in the lower part of the tab and click Network, then try a video in the upper part of the tab? Click the Size column a couple times to bring the largest items to the top and watch for the player.swf file to load and then see whether any media files load. Sample screen shot attached.
