Real slow connection tonight

Similar to some of the other postings here, Infinity speed has been solidly 37.5Mb down, 7.5Mb up and a ping of 32ms.
Tonight it is now 2.5Mb down, 5Mb up and a ping of 49ms.
Saw an OpenReach van in the vincinity this morning, someone has clearly screwed something up...
Also just noticed that there's no way of notifying BT about a fault through my BT account login screen. Can a moderator please link me a form to raise the fault?
Thanks.

Ours is the same, stable 37.5mbit for a month up until this afternoon, now we're getting 2mbit (and 70ms ping).
Which exchange are you on? (We're St Agnes, Cornwall - just wondering if the other people having problems are also around here)
Ours is back up to 37mbit download (10mbit upload, ~18ms ping) as of 11am this morning. Are you still having problems?

• High Packet Loss, High Ping and Slow Connection Ov...

Hi There,
I have been a customer with the BT unlimited broadband package for a little under two years and up until recently have had no real issues with the service. This was until around 3/4 weeks ago I noticed that the internet was very slow and certain online games or applications like Netflix would lose all of its quality or stop completely. At first I thought nothing of it and simply reset my BT Home hub router, and sure enough everything was back to normal. However after around 2-3 hours of moderate use (gaming online or watching Netflix) the problem surfaced again.
Now I am lucky if I can get the entire way through a 40 minute TV episode before the quality drops and/or the service requires buffering. I have already contacted BT via the helpline and the service lady ran through the obligatory steps (turn off, wait 5 minutes, reset the home hub etc.) but she failed to understand that although rebooting the home hub does alleviate the problem initially, the symptoms of a slow connection, high packet loss and high ping always return within an hour.
Four the last couple of weeks I have been trying to investigate the problem myself and I have done the following things:
Tested the line using the master socket (no difference)
Opened the ports on my firewall within the home hub (no difference)
Directly wired in the computer instead of relying on the wifi (no difference)
Tested for interference from neighbours wifi using inSSIDider office (it wasn’t, operating on different channels)
Switched every device that requires internet off apart from the PC (no difference)
So with all that in mind I am fairly confident that it is nothing within my house that has caused a significant reduction in internet quality.
Now I have tried my best to display the problem I am having by recording the connection quality for the last 24 hours. The table below represents the condition and quality of the connection after leaving it a period of time without resetting:

I have also checked if the bell wire was attached and it is not. My socket is of the new type with the inclusion of an inductor on the faceplate. My ADSL filters and modem cable already have the middle connecting pins removed so I don’t think it is a wiring problem, at least in my apartment anyway. I have also searched for problems with the exchange and they are showing green for my area. (Liverpool Central)
I have just rang the quiet line and I do not appear to have any noise on the line. However, all I have is a cordless phone and I know that is not ideal for determining noise due to the radio frequency interfering with the phone speaker.
Again thank you for you time on this issue.

• Airport Scanning slowing connection

Sorry to post this again. After waking up imac, airport is scanning too long. About a minute before connecting... I did find someone posted and they thought it was iTunes or quicktime upgrade. Maybe, but searching "airport slow connection" I find many having this problem with no real answers. Somebody must have had this problem and fixed it... Any help?

The ethernet cable is coming from my express
OK, thanks for clarifying that for me. This confirms that the wired, or Ethernet portion of the AirPort Express is working correctly.
If the wireless radio on the Express is functioning correctly, then you should be able to get something in the range of 85-90 Mbps over wireless on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band.
BTW, these tests were conducted with only my MBP connected to the network, while it was sitting mere inches from theExpress.
That is much too close, since the signal can easily overload the wireless card on your computer, which will have the effect of knocking the speeds down. Move the computer 7-10 feet, or about 2-3 meters away from the AirPort Express with clear line-of-sight between the computer and Express and run the checks again.
Be sure to restart both the AirPort Express and your computer before you run the checks.
If the wireless speeds still clock in low.......anything below 60-70 Mbps......then I would start to look around for any devices that might be introducing wireless interference on your wireless network. The biggest culprits are cordless phones in this regard, but any BlueTooth devices like a mouse or keyboard can sometimes create issues, as well as wireless camera/security systems. Turn off these devices temporarily as a test and restart the AirPort an computer again to see if the speeds will improve.
If speeds are still slow during your "test", then I would try a Factory Default Reset on the Express.
If still no improvement, you need to take the Express to an Apple Store....if you have one near you, or an Apple Servicer to let them take a look and run some tests.
If the wireless speeds are still low when you do this, then the Express is defective and will need to be replaced.
However, if the Express checks out OK, then you know that something is affecting your wireless signal at the house. What that might be will be the real question.

• When using flash player for games, the mac runs real slow

When using flash player for games, the mac runs real slow. It's also not the fastest at anything. Can I do anything to speed stuff up ?????

Have no clue. You provided no details and your system profile is blank.
Which os are you using?
How are you connected to the internet?
Have you contacted your isp to make sure the slowness is not coming from their end?
Max out your ram.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
You you using the latest version of Adobe Flash?
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.

• Windows Domain Controller on Windows Server 2012 R2: Hyper-V roaming profiles not loading due to slow connection

I have racked my brain and done everything that I know to do for about two weeks now. I am setting up a new system at our fire department and I am having the worst luck with getting the workstations to login to the domain controller with roaming
profiles. It keeps telling me that the roaming profile could not be loaded because of a slow connection. These are workstations that are connected directly to the switch that the DC is connected to. I have tried multiple connections regarding
the layout (DC into the router, router into the switch). The router is a Cisco RV220W. I have two VLANS, one for public and one for private domain. The Private VLAN has DHCP turned off since I am providing it through the DC. I currently
have a connection from the Private VLAN going to the unmanaged switch that the workstations and server are plugged into.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge R420 that has 6 NIC ports (1 dual port and 1 quad port). I have a virtual switch setup on Hyper-V for an external port (let's say Card 2 Port 3) that is assigned to the WS 2012R2 Domain Controller. The DC can see
the internet fine and the workstations can connect to the shared folders on the server. I can retrieve files by just using the computer name or FQDN. The DC is also running DNS and DHCP. The DNS has the _msdcs setup from when I installed
the active directory role. I have attempted to assign static IP addresses to the workstations:
IP: 10.0.0.80
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
IPV4 Gateway: 10.0.0.1
IPV4 DNS: 10.0.0.12
I've attempted "append the specific DNS suffix", I've "registered the connection in DNS", I've used "use this connections suffix in DNS registration".
The server is assigned:
IP: 10.0.0.12
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
IPV4 Gateway: 10.0.0.1
IPV4 DNS: 10.0.0.12
The DNS entries have forwarders that forward to my ISP DNS servers for lookup
I've enabled and disabled DHCP, I've installed a new VM just to create another DC to make sure that I didn't goof up when I created it.
I've lost my patience with this project and am sinking fast. Can someone please offer some advice as to what I've done wrong? I've created this exact scenario at work many times but, I've never done it with Windows Server 2012. Is this
possibly something to do with the Dell PowerEdge server (Generation 12) with the SR-IOV? I am going to attempt to work on it some more tomorrow when I get over there. I think there may be an issue with the SR-IOV not being enabled on the machine
through the Dell Bios. Would the SR-IOV really cause the workstations to report a slow connection? When I login at the domain controller the roaming profiles and folder redirection work fine so, I know the GPO settings are correct. I don't
have "ignore slow connections" or any of those GPO's set. I need to get it working the correct way so, I didn't want to fool the server when there is another underlying problem. Any help that someone can offer, I am more than willing
to listen. If you need more information, please ask.
Thanks,
Jay

So, I've managed to research this some more since Thursday and I've come to the conclusion that Hyper-V does a horrible job of supporting Qualcomm NIC cards. That's the only thing I can conclude as far as where the issue is originating. I've read many
post and walkthroughs but nothing that has helped. The issue wasn't with any settings in the domain controller. The issue was that there really is a slow connection originating at the domain controller that is a VM and has network connectivity through the
virtual switch from Hyper-V. So, next question is, how do I get the DC to have better connectivity through the NIC that Hyper-V won't give it? If hyper-v would allow passthrough, this would be so much simpler. VM-ware is looking really good at this point.
Im disappointed in MS right now.

• Mavericks install incomplete. No Apple installers on HD. Will I be able to upgrade to Yosemite and will it fix all that didn't install with Mavericks upgrade? Very slow connection speeds 30 hrs to download Mavericks. Tried re-install; no help/

Ever since upgrade to Mavericks I have been having problems which are too numerous to mention. I finally found a program from a UCBerkley professor called Pacifier which indicated 4000+ of 400,000+ files and folders did not install. I was unable to go further to try to fix everything because Pacifier can't find ANY Apple installers on my HD. It recommended I download the Mavericks installer without reinstalling to continue; however, after having done so (very slow connection; takes 30 hours to download) and although the installer appears in apps while downloading it disappears and NO Apple installer packages can be found on my hard drive. I tried to download Yosemite once and it indicated my system wasn't eligible for the upgrade. Its' download time was similar to Mavericks; 28+ hours.
I am using a Macbook Pro mid-2012 version OS X 10.9.5 (13F34); Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5; Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3; Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
Regardless of how many files and apps I remove my memory is being eaten up to the point I can hardly do anything at all. There are no civil words for how frustrated I am. Someone please help me.

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

My 1st Generation time capsule won't connect to the internet thru a new motorola sb6121 - get continuously flashing yellow light. Using a router in between the modem and capsule yields good but slower connection to internet. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response
Let me give the history - I started with an Apple Express being fed thru a D-Link EBTR 2310 cable Router from an RCA DCM315 Modem (Pure). Comcast service all the way.
Got the 1st generation TC in 2008 and merely replaced the Airport Express with the TC. Worked ok
A year or two ago I did try removing the modem and feeding the TC directly from the modem. Resulted in the same condition I have now - Continuous flashing amber on the TC. So I put the router back in the chain.
Some time later, at the recommendation of a Comcast rep, I replaced the router with (a Belkin F5D 5231) to see if speed and dropout problems would be improved. I thought it helped some at the time but now I am not so sure.
Last week I decided to see if a new modem would help with download speeds. So I got another pure cable modem (Motorola SB 6121- high on the Comcast recommended list).
Got up and running easily with Comcast help and with the modem connected directly to a computer.
Next I put the TC in the link and again could not get past the TC continuing to flash amber. Although I did get connected to the internet with this configuration I lost connection two both of my printers - one connected by USB and the other wirelessly to the TC. Again everything works fine when I put the Belkin router back in the system.
However with the router in there, the modem shows the downstream connection to be 10/100 ethernet speed. (Modem light changes color for indicating speeds.}
I have gone thru all of the combinations of powering down/ up, but all stays the same.
I can live with what I have but something still doesn’t seem right.
Thanks again

• Satellite U400 - Slow connection on Windows 7

I have 1Mbit/s but example I want to download firefox go to their website's and then it shows between 50 and 70Kb/s but sometimes it gets to my normal max high 120Kb/s, and I saw on google that alot of people have this issue.
And sometimes some website are not loading or I just got error because of so slow connection that websites just turn off :(, never happend before.
plz someone help - any suggestions plz?

> what kind of forum is this? no help for more then one 1 week , more then 10 days now ?
What are you expecting? This is a user to user forum if someone would like to help you then he will post in your thread.
In most cases such themes has been discussed a lot of time here maybe you should not wait only for someone but should use an advanced search option and could search and read in similar threads for possible solutions
Regarding your issue:
> i do have the latest updates and still nobody from you tried to help me to get a fix , why dont you guys belive it? when i said look at google.com and write windows 7 wireless probblem or slow down my wireless, this is a KNOWN issue with windows 7 .
Firsty you said that you are sure it's Win 7 issue
>i have asked around everywhere and they all say it is NOT windows 7 issue it must be the manufacter driver issue .
Now you are saying it;s notebook issue....
So what is your possition now????
How it could be a manufacturer issue if the speed is faster using WIn XP??? For me it make no sence...
However, I googled a little bit an found this:
Tweaking Windows 7 for Faster Online Connections
http://www.brighthub.com/computing/windows-platform/articles/58522.aspx
You can also try to speed up the IE 8
For that use the command: regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
This should be typed in RUN
Then reboot the notebook.

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.

One possibility is that you may need to "Upgrade" your Cable /DSL Modem if you have an older unit. ISP's that provide your Internet service in recent years have been switching over from DOCSIS 2.1 version Modems to DOCSIS 3.0 version Modems, which handle the new higher data streaming speeds the ISP's are offering. I would suggest you call your ISP's Technical Support and inquire about this possibility.

• How can I download a full installer to move to a computer with a slow connection.

Due to slow connection speeds at home, I need to download the installers fro CC and premiere at work, then take the full installers home for

Understand, there are no alternatives. It's either this, or I have to use a different product altogether.

• Firefox much slower connecting to all web sites than Internet Explorer. Why?

Over the last few weeks, Firefox has become much slower connecting to virtually all web sites that I frequent than does Internet Explorer. Nothing has changed on my computer other than occasional downloads of Firefox "improvements".

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
