Example for V1, V2 updates

Hi Experts,
1) I know the diference btwn V1(Updates immediately, locking involved, not sharing etc) and V2 updates. But, let me know the real world examples for both.
2) And in some cases, I hv seen COMMIT work after the statement of MODIFY Z_DB_TABLE statement, but, when I updated my Z table, i did not used this commit, but, still its working, so, why in some cases they used COMMIT after MODIFY a Z table?

Hi,
The real time example can be in this way for booking a movie ticket needs to be updated immediately...
this should be done using V1 updates because we have to block the seats so that no other system can block it.
but something like master data that which movie is going to release next in the theatre can be done in V2 update because that does not require any immediate effect or any current involvement of other system to it as it has to be done by admins.

Hi,
Suggestion is to refer SAP help for details:
1)Synchronous: when you need realtime response, i.e. you accept order and want to give order number to customer then you will call Sync service.
2)Asynchronous: when you dont need realtime response, i.e. you want to replicate all orders from one system to another system.
3)Request Confirmation: you made a request and system confirm your request. i.e. Order data is supplied and order number is confirmation. Database will be updated.
4)ReadQuery: I guess you are refering to Query/Response pattern, You just want some information. No database will be updated.
5)Notification: It is another form of "QueryResponse" but user action required.
6)Information: It is another form of "QueryRespone" but NO user action required.
Answer following questions to determine which pattern you need.
Q1. Do you need response?
Ans: Yes: Sync pattern
        Q1.1: Does any update required?
        Ans: Yes: RequestConfirmation pattern.
        Ans: No: QueryResponse pattern.
Ans: No
        Q1.2 Does user required to take notice of response?
        Ans: Yes:Notification pattern
        Ans: No: Information pattern.

Fixed Price are those expenditures which remains constant in total amount irrespective of change in Volume of production.Eg Rent will be constant even if your production volume changes.The activity price calculated for such expenditures will also be constant per activity rate even if there is a change in the volume of production.
Varriable price on the other hand changes with the volume of production .e.g power cost will change if you produce more.the the activity rate say KWH/ton will also change and its price will also change if you produce more.
Generally activities for service center fixed costs will yield fixed price.
Once you are done with planning in KP26.these plan amounts are used for standard cost estimate.when you are doing standard cost estimate, cost will calculated from BOM(Materials cost) and Routing(here you have activitype plan cost/hr.no.of hrs to finish goods).
once you are with standard cost estimate it will update material master.
To calculate variances(target costs Vs Actual cost),we use target cost.target cost is nothing but your standard cost estimate cost for that particular materials(Finished or Semi -Finished).
you can check this in OKV6 T.code.

Are there any examples for using a CAN card via XNET on a real time system?

I am programming a real time application and I have a PXI 8512 card. My first order of business is to get 5-byte messages from transducers that are broadcasting at 10 Hz on known message IDs. There are no CAN/XNET samples in my "realtime" CVI sample folder. I have found some in the nixnet folder but they are Windows based so I have to hack a lot of stuff out of them.

Real-time data acquisition for HR datasources

Dear Experts,
I have a couple of questions on real-time data acquisition...
a) Can you tell me if any standard HR datasources support real-time data acquisition?
b) Can we apply real-time data acquisition for generic datasources? If yes, is there any difference in the process compared to working with business content datasources when using real-time data acquisition?

a)The decision to go for SAP remote cube depends on the volume of data and the frequency of queries. It is advicible not to use the SAP remote cube if the data volume is high and also, the query frequency is high. Which module in HR are yuo implementing? In HR, the data volume is generally high. So, if you go for loading the data from R/3 every 3 hours, you are asfe as long as the loading volumes are less. For example, for implementing Time management, I would not advice frequent loads as it is time consuming process. So, make a decision based on the above mentioned lines. If the data volume is not high, I would prefer the SAP ermote cube as it will reduce managing the loads.
b)I mentioned FM extractor just for the sake of control of data selection. You can even go for view/table extractor.

Remote Extractor and Real Time Infocube for SEM BCS

I have somes doubts about the integration between SEM and BW.
There is a cycle that have the next processes:
1.- begin in R/3 with the movements in FI, CO and/or general ledgers
2.- Activate the extractors standards for replicate/extract data to BW. For example, 0FI_GL_XXXX.
3.- Configure a method for take the information from BW to SEM.
4.- My doubt begin here... For take the information from SEM to the real time infocube, where I configure? What Have I for configure?
The real time infocube, What is the proposal? Where take the data? Here, Do the remote extractor begin to apply?

We're using 0FI_GL_20 to read directly from FAGLFLEXT into SEM-BCS via a BI remote cube. There are some basic transformations in BI to "populate" the remote cube, then a standard Load from Data Stream in BCS to do final mappings. In the BCS workbench, just create a source data basis off the remote cube.
This works at my current project due to fairly low ECC data volumes. If you are doing any complex mapping on the Company or Fiscal Year / Period infoobjects, you may need to create a inverse mapping routine in the remote cube to transfer selection criteria. If you see messages in the monitor following a data load such as "xx,xxx of xxx,xxx records ignored", that means that you are reading too much data from ECC and it is only getting filtered on the BCS side. We had this problem with a custom extractor and adding an inverse mapping routine cut the load from ~5min to 30sec. (Basically, the custom, template-delivered, extractor only had 0FISCPER, not 0FISCPER3 and 0FISCYEAR, so we would read all 17 K4 periods into BI, map them into BCS, then BCS would throw out the unneeded periods. Unfortunately, we did not have the option to change the extractor, so this was the best approach.).
If I had large data volumes, I would use a regular BI basic cube for staging (or possibly a multi-cube with a mix of basic and realtime, depending on the load requirements to BCS).
If you use 0FI_GL_20, I would strongly recommend you implement OSS Note 1245822, or be on SAP_APPL 603.0002 or later.

!!!-Need help for terminating a Java thread in real time

I use J2SDK1.4.1 on a Unix platform.
I want to terminate (or stop) a running java thread, which is dealing with time consuming tasks, in real-time (for example: the delay before the thread is terminated can't beyond one second), However, I don't know which techniques I can use to make sure the previous (or old) running java threads have been terminated?
Could you please give me any help if you can?

Well, the scenario is like this:
1. the thread read line by line (using BufferedReader) string from a probably huge-size file
2. analyse each string read from the file if required (some strings may be omitted based on the user's operations), the analyzing process is a time-consuming task, and the analysing process may be terminated at any time the user want.
3. record only the strings that have been analyzed by the previous process into a recording file
The problem I meet is as follows: (Here, I suppose that it should take at least 30 seconds to finish analyse all the strings in a given huge file )
1. the user start the analysing process, and run it for only 5 seconds,then stop the analyzing.
2. the user start the analysing process again from the begining of the file(analyse the strings within the same file as previous step), and then stop the analysing process at 10 second. (it means, this time the analysing process is running for 10 seconds, still haven't finish analyse all the strings in the file).
Once I open the record file, I saw some of the strings in the recording file have been repetitively record for 2 times, and the repetitive strings are just the strings the analysing time from at 5 second to at 10 second.
And the repetitive times are depend on how many time the user start and stop the analysing process using the same file. for example, based on the above two steps, the user do the third step as follow:
3. the user start the analysing process once again, analyse the same file,too. And run it for 15 seconds
This time open the recording file, this time I saw some of the strings have been repetitively record for 3 times, and the repetitive strings are just the strings the analysing time from at 10 second to at 15 second.
So, I guess the problem is probably because the previous analysing threads haven't been terminated completely, or say they just are blocked or set as inactive etc., then when the next time start the analysing process, the old threads will be reactive,and rerun ffrom the last time they are blocked.
I hope you had catched what I mean, if you not, please ust let me know, I'll try to explain it again.

How to create a c++ shared library (.so) for linux real time (for myRio) with Eclipse to use in LabView?

I want use c++ codes on linux real time. For testing reasons I want to have a function that adds 2 values and gives the result.
I've done these steps:
1. writing a c++ file in Eclipse (see screensot 2)
2. building a shared library (.so) from my c++ project in Eclipse (with Cross GCC)
3. putting this file on myRio (path: /usr/local/lib/)
4. creating a VI that calls this library from Labview with a "Call Library Function Node" (see screenshot3)
5. Setting the properties for the "Call Library Function Node" (see screenshots 4-7)
After I run this VI i get this error message: LabVIEW: (Hex 0x627) The function name for the ... node cannot be found in the library. To correct this error, right-click the Call Library Function Node and select Configure from the shortcut menu. Then choose the correct function name. (see screenshot1)
I've tried a lot things to solve this problem but I couldn't find a solution. Would be very happy if anyone can help me. I guess that I have to edit my c++ code to export my function (symbol). But I have no idea how to make it. I also tried it with a dll file in the same folder but it didn't help.
Perhaps someone can send an example which works on myRIO.

can see it in the screenshot8 there is a function called "_Z8AddierenddPd" instead of "Addieren". I copied this name to Labview (see screenshot9) and it worked.
I'm sure that there is a way to compile the shared folder with gcc without decorations (mangling). But I don't know how. If someone has a recommendation I would be very glad!
Prepend each function declaration that you want to be available without name decoration with
extern "C" <your function declaration>
Or if you have multiple functions you want to export you can in the header file where you declare your functions simply use:

Desing requriment for processing the IDOC in real time

hi Gurus,
we have a requirement to design for processing the IDOC in real time i.e.all the IDOC must be store and process for give time line with out using BPPM tool.we have suggested to use cache storage or storing the files in file adapter.
please suggested good process with out compromising the Performance of PI.

MAX support of SNTP for Real-time controllers

Hey everyone,
I have some PXI systems that allow me to enter a Time Server IP address directly into the MAX setup for the device but I have some other PXI chassis that don't. Does this have to do with the version of Real-time they are running? Can anyone tell me what version of RT and MAX started supporting Time Servers natively through MAX for real-time controllers?

It looks like SNTP synchronization is not fully supported for PXI systems:

However, for CompactRIO, synchronization with SNTP servers began with LabVIEW Real-Time 8.6:

Please note that those examples are both unsupported and a little bit on the older side.

Real time questions for HFM

Hi, Gurus'
Can anyone plz answer for the below questions
1. How to restart the services in Real time.
Example: If workspace service need to be restarted. what kind of procedure we need to follow for this situation?
2. How to overcome system performance issues specially in month ends, while number of concurrent entities loading the data in to HFM Application at the same time?
Do we need to follow a protocol like one day few entities data loading, next day few more entities data loading.... like this??
3. How frequently we need to take the backups for the data and applications? like daily,weekly or monthly?
Example: if it is on Daily basis, how to restrict the other entities from being loading the data in to HFM Application while taking backups for the particular timings? is it effects the Data Accuracy?
4.What is the best approach to move the DEV application from DEV to Production environment for which few accounts or Entities added recently.
Means CopyApplication utility, migration or extracting metadata and loading to Productions application??
5. what are the common steps will take in real time, to inform all the entities to log out the HFM application for maintenance or any other purpose?

In a real time environment, the following process will be followed in general
1. Most of the organizations will prepare financial close cycle timelines for the entire fiscal year in advance. This activity will be taken care of fiance department
2. Get an approval from financial director for the close cycle timeline and make it to frozen state unless any exception comes in
3. Based on the timelines, IS department will prepare the maintenance schedule of Hyperion EPM instance by keeping in mind that there should be no maintenance activity during the close cycle time
4. The maintenance schedule will get approved by IS department and then taken forward to finance department for final approval. If any changes\recommendations suggested by finance department then it will be incorporated by IS department and get the final approval
5. Notify the HFM end users about the maintenance schedule well advance by an e-mail communication,teamsite , business meetings etc
6. Start sending reminder mail about the scheduled maintenance activity one day to all the HFM end users before the activity starts
7. Start sending the final reminder mail about the scheduled maintenance activity one hour before the activity starts
8. Once the maintenance activty is completed, send an email communication to all the HFM end users that the HFM system is up and running now
9. In case of any un expected issue during the maintenance activity which might lead to increase in the downtime required for the maintenance activity.Inform the key stake holders at the earliest and inform the end users accordingly

Rec Type for Variance transactions is already fixed i.e. C and cant be changed....
You can use Z rec types in KE21N for manual postings/adjustments.... Or during external data transfer
If you can be specific on your requirement, we can discuss further using Exit COPA0002 or 0005... But for standard transactions, you cant change the rec types
