Real time stock quotes

Is there a widget to provide real time stock prices for a few stocks? If not is there another solution to simply following a few stocks live on my desktop?

Shades of Sherlock, I gave up on this widget and downloaded the Yahoo Stock Ticker widget, which you can find by searching in Yahoo's site. Seems to work fine, but behaves differently than mac widgets. It does not appear in the widget bar and stands alone. You can hide it, however, and call it up with your cursor from the left side.

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • QuotesRT and PortfolioRT are not real time stock quotes!

I just bought QuotesRT and PortfolioRT to check real time stock quotes. But today, after comparing with another real time quotes service and Yahoo Finance real time quotes, I noticed that the stock quotes in QuotesRT and PortfolioRT are not real time at all!
Are there any other QuotesRT and PortfolioRT users out there? Do you see the same problem? How to contact their technical support team?

  • Looking for good real time STOCK program for my Mac (free)

    Hi there!
I wanted to throw this question to you guys out there. Does anyone know of any good, may be free, program to keep track of stock quotes in real time. Something with a real time running line with quotes. It would be nice to have something just sitting as a background on my desktop or as a wedget or in the dock, something that can do real time though.
    Please advice.
    Thanks

    Yuri:
Yahoo Finance will give you real time quotes on specific stocks, say, in a portfolio. Many brokerage firm websites like Ameritrade offer Real Time quotes, too, but require that you have an account. Some other sites, and I don't remember exactly, offer a ticker tape type display; off the top of my head I'd say Intuit, CNN Money, MSNBC. Or you can try Market Browser.
If I think of anything else I will post back.

  • Real time stock levels

    Hello
Could anybody help me find a solution to my problem please?
I would like a report to run that tells me the (exact) stock levels of all materials that I can save as xls.
If it can be done automatically that would be even better.
    Thanks

Is there anyway to change the format to a simple table with each item having its own line?
    e.g  material - description - stock level
this would make it easier to view when converted to spreadsheet?

  • Stocks app can use real time quotes now since YHOO is offering them?

So any chance we can see real time quotes in the Stocks app any time soon?

Good question for Yahoo technical or customer support, which provides the data for the iPhone.

  • Stock quotes will not update during market time, Have removed cookies and history. How do I remedy this?

Stocks symbols will not update without closing and opening the portfolio or just clicking on the stock to get the real time quote.

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox

  • Stock quote rate and time in a small portlet

    Hi Gurus,
Is there any website from where I can get the stock quote of my company and show it in a small 1 inchX1 inch size portlet. I don't want to show the entire content of the page. I just want to show the quote rate and time. I have tried Yahoo, Quote, Nasdaq. I have tried to use Web clipping portlet to grab that part alone. They have some script calls from that area to the other part of the page. So, when I open the portlet, it gives me the pop up script error. Gurus, Can you post a reply if you have any idea about this.
    Thanks
    Raj

You can use the Web Page data source in OmniPortlet. There are also various Stock Quote Web Services or XML feeds that can be used with OmniPortlet.
If you need more information, please post your question to the PDK forum.

  • Can i make a stock quote come up every time i turn on yahoo/m.firefox vs having to type it in every time? thanks.

I want to see immediately one stock every time I turn on computer on the first page. Can i do that? thanks

    Hi mkhmann,
    This might help you.
Go to yahoo and enter your stock quote. Set the link as your homepage , for example, http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=MSFT&ql=1 . Then, every time you open Firefox, it automatically loads the page.
    To set homepage;
Tools -> Options -> General -> When Firefox starts "Show my homepage" -> Homepage: http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=MSFT&ql=1

  • Real-Time streaming stocks not great on Leaopard

I am using OptionsXpress with Java real-time streaming is too slow on Leopard via Safari or Firefox and previous OS 10.4.x was great with Java Real-Time streaming both work with Safari and Firefox. Is something there I need download or it is Leopard system?

You do not have to write code on server to listen to port or send stream to the client.
Port is configuration stuff , so you decide on ports on which your FMS would be listening. Like by default it listens to port 1935 and 80. So when your flash player client makes connection, it goes to this port by default. Now if you configure it to something else, you can specify that port when your client makes connect i.e. for example
nc.connect("rtmp://<server-ip>:<port>/applicationName");   where <port> is port number where FMS is listening.
You need to any coding on server-side to send stream to client. Also there is no encoding or decoding done at server-end per se, basically who publishes the stream does the encoding of the stream in format which are accepted by FMS and then decoding is done by Flash Player client.
There is no actionscript present to do encoding or decoding per se, but you can decide on your file format when you publish the stream basically either flv or mp4 format. If you using Flash Player as publisher, you can use Sorenson Video Codec and nellymoser or Speex Audio code. However you can FMLE to get more options like On2 and H264 video codecs.
You can go though FMS Developer Guide docs (which comes with installation) to get started off on simple examples. Also there are some samples which are present in documentation folder.

  • Stock Quotes Feed

I am writing a trading simulator software and I need a reliable real time market feed. Does anyone know what options do I have?
I know yahoo finance has a real time market data feed, but I am not sure how good it is or if it fits my needs.
One problem I am foreseeing is that in order to calculate your exact earning at a certain, you have to be able to get all your stock quotes at the same instant. Calling getQuotes(Security sec) on every stock will probably result in imprecise calculations.

    3. The bogus assumption that he can get multiple quotes at the exact same instant and calculate his exact balance intra-day.Ok. So it's not Java related, but that is doable if you have a market feed (which a normal person doesn't have)yes and no. While it is possible to get a snapshot of values at a specific moment in time and from that calculate the value of a portfolio, depending on the volatility of the instruments and the time needed to gather and process the information the actual value will have shifted by the time you've calculated it.
Say you have a highly volatile instrument.
By the time the value of that stock has been recorded by the information broker, looked up for you, and transmitted to you, it may well have changed radically.
As these are the main instruments of interest to people trading on intraday timescales, they effectively can never (during the trading day) know the exact value of their portfolios, only an estimate based on snapshots.
For most prudent investors of course that's not so much of a problem, as they tend to invest in less volatile instruments, leaving (unless in extreme cases, like the crash of Fortis last year in Amsterdam and Brussels) enough time to calculate an accurate status that's at least valid for a few seconds.I think the keyword to what I said is that it requires a market feed, and I'm in that case talking about a direct market feed from the trading system. E.g. MBL or a full flow that requires you to calculate shadow orderbooks for the system. It's normally only information vendors, banks etc that have such connections.

  • ABAP interface in real time

    Dear all,
    Hereafter is my scenario;
My customer after sales system works on AS400. Assuming that I would manage spare parts (required for after sales) inventory, including goods entry, goods issue as well as the company financial accounting in SAP, I have to interface the two system.
From SAP to AS400: (flow1) Master files + (flow2) goods entry
From AS400 to SAP: (flow3) AR postings, (flow4) goods consumption
Then my two systems will be in line in terms of referential data (flow1), stock movement (flow2 + flow4), invoicing (flow3).
    1) My question is to know what would be the best way to flow2 knowing that stock movement following a goods entry (done in SAP) should be visible in real time from AS400?
    2) Regarding other flows, no need for real time. So I guess flat file should be ok. However, would master data for instance sent from SAP to AS400 require a mapping table in order to be properly integrated in AS400?
    Regards.

Real Time doesn't mean always fast. It depends on your application requirements.
Anyway, don't think too much about Real Time in Windows. If it's possible, try to do all "time critical" operations in Matlab and after that pull data with LV.

  • Real Time Communication

    HI Gurus,
Can any one tell me what is  REAL TIME COMMUNICATION.
Also I request information / details on RTCIS.
    Regards
    Ajoy

    Hi Ajoy,
1.1 Application Scenarios for Real Time Communications
There are two classes of applications: client and server. Client class applications have one real-time client per computer, such as the traditional instant messenger (IM) application. Server class applications typically act on behalf of multiple users or communicate with many hundreds of users simultaneously. Server class applications are often based around intelligent applications that interact with users. These applications can be divided into two categories: notification Apps that send information to a client and interactive Apps that accept and respond to a client. A third type of server class applications, Web-based clients, interacts with users through a Web server.
    1.2 Notification Applications
Notification Apps are real-time applications that send information to multiple clients from a centralized server (see Figure 1). The one-way transmission means that clients cannot communicate directly with the notification App. Instead, clients must choose which events they wish to receive by using some other technique, such as a Web application.
One example of a notification App is an application that notifies all of the users of a particular e-mail server that the server is about to go offline. Another useful notification App would send alerts in cases of severe weather.
    1.3 Interactive Apps
Interactive Apps are applications that allow multiple clients to communicate with a central server in real-time, as Figure 2 shows. They are different from notification bots in that interactive bots support two-way communications with a client. Using this approach, you can build an application that interacts with users in real-time. Within this scenario, there are two main sub-scenarios. The first provides a user with information and waits for the user to respond, such as an application that notifies users about changes in stock prices and then gives the user the option to buy or sell. The second waits for the user to request a session with the App and then responds to requests that the user supplies, such as a calendar application that allows a user to schedule meetings and other events while receiving reminders just prior to the meeting or event.
    1.4 Web-Based Clients
Web-based clients provide the same basic functionality as the traditional IM client through a Web interface, thus allowing the widest possible audience to use the application, as Figure 3 illustrates. It also has the side effect of eliminating the need for a user to download local software, which reduces user concerns about the download containing a potential virus. These types of clients are useful to organizations that wish to provide a Web-based front end to their internal IM system. For example, a company might wish to use a Web-based IM client to connect customers with a support group. Doing so maximizes the number of customers that can connect with the support group.
    Real Time Communications Data Flow
It's critical that organizations planning large deployments of real-time communications applications ensure that those applications can scale to meet the desired goals. The RTC Client API is very efficient for client class applications for which each client runs on its own computer. To build a scalable RTC Client API application that services multiple clients with a single computer, you need to ensure that the application is scalable when you design it.
The Real-time Communications (RTC) Client API is a set of COM interfaces and methods designed to create PC-PC, PC-phone, phone-phone audio/video calls, or text-only Instant Messaging (IM) sessions over the Internet. Application sharing and whiteboard (An application that displays a window for two users to exchange information) can also be added to PC-PC sessions. Presence information is used to track the location of buddies (or contacts) for communication purposes. This information is available through the RTC Client API on a SIP registrar server.
    The RTC Client API:
    1.Supports multiparty phone-phone calls
2.Uses SIP-based signaling and presence communications
3.Integrates with the Microsoft Office RTC proxy and registrar server
4.Supports provisioning with ITSPs or third-party corporate-deployed servers
5.Integrates signals over IP and PSTN networks
I hope this will be useful for you.
    Thanks,
    Swamy Kunche
