Realize Ear Speaker problem

Just bought the iPhone from the AT&T shop yesterday.. After using in home, i have problem when my friends call me.. i almost can't hear the voice from the ear speaker.. so i think, i have same problem with other ppl.. but in this morning i just realize the problem is from the plastic cover.. after i make some hole on the plastic (ear speaker hole) my problem is gone ^_^
My problem right now just Dropped call and some fiture.. Before i using AT&T, i use Cingular and i never have dropped call.. whereas it's same (only change the new SIM card, and change name from Cingular to AT&T =D
Right now i only need to wait my Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset, screen protector, and Incase Molded Rubber Case for iPhone.. about 1 months, because i have to wait they send the item to me (why took so long) -.-!
PS: Sory my english poor

I think they were talking about the plastic insdide the ear speaker slot.
If that is what you meant, good luck with that. That plastic piece helps keep lint out of the inside of your phone. I wouldn't keep it in your pocket if you actually put a hole in the plastic inside the earspeaker hole cause you are gonna get lots of lint under the screen.

  • C6903 ear speaker problem

    Hi!
I just recently bought the Xperia Z1 (C6903) and I have a really strange problem. Whenever I make a call or I answer one I have to wait 3-10 seconds before the ear speaker turns on. The other side can hear me perfectly, but I can’t hear them. The problem doesn’t exist when I’m using a headset. After I start hearing the other side the sound quality is perfect and there is no problem until another call. I am running official 5.0.2 ROM version 14.5.A.0.242. I didn't root, didn't unlock bootloader, just did OTA update. Any ideas?

  • IPhone5 Ear speaker problem!

I've been using iPhone5 for 3 weeks, and I found that there is a serious defect on ear speaker.
Of course, I took off the film on the screen and turned up the volume!
I literally hear very very very low volume, hardly heard, on receiving and outgoing calls with ear speaker.
The speaker at the bottom and headset work fine. Crystal clear.
It's non-sense every time I make and receive calls, I change to the speaker mode. What a joke!
Is there anyone having this problem!?

Your very welcome. I'll ask the hosts to remove your number.
Really do look into earphone port. that may really be the issue. Also check that you have bluetooth and Airplay off. It may be you are streaming to another device with the volume low.
As for the drama, I don't see the issue you describe as being an epidemic so saying it's a serious problem for users is baseless. In fact search the forum and you will find al long history of the same issue, most of which were solved with the solutions I gave you.
This may not apply to you since you say you've done some things already, but it's always frustrating around the time of an iOS upgrade when those coming here are more concerned about threatening the purchase of another device than actually looking for help. Everyone here does support on their own time so no one cares much what purchase decision you make. The larger problem is that it more difficult to support users when they come in with an attitude before even trying the most basic of troubleshooting steps because it makes them less open to trying anything that may help.
As for Apple being unresponsive. On what do you base that? Have you called Apple? Did they deny you support?

  • Nokia n96 ear speaker problem.. aLreadY!

bought mine just yesterday. there seems to be some kind of problem with the ear speaker.. all the voices sound way deeper than they're supposed to. its like all the people are talking to me from the bottom of a pit. an older n95 sounds much much clearer. i thought it might be a firmware issue so i upgraded but its still there.
any clue as to whats causing this?

on my second n96 within a week, the phone was responsive, only a few glitches when watching movies on the handest, where the audio would continue and the video image would lag or freeze, only problem was with the sound quality of the built in earpiece. The manager from CPW store agreed there was an issue with the built in earpiece on my 1st handset and replaced it with a brand new handset...guess what...sound quality is exactly the same on the replacement handset really muffled as if the caller is covering the built in microphone with thier sleeve when talking to you!
Also this second handset is really sluggish and it takes an age for it to find any files in the gallery.
on the whole im really dissapointed with this phone
(N96-1) as i was a user of the n95-1 handsets and once all the glithches were ironed out and the phone tailored to how you use it, it worked rather well and was an invaluable tool.
But when are nokia gonna get things right with thier handsets from right out of the box, instead of umpteen firmware upgrades, just to get the things coping with normal use?
Hopefully a solution will be made available soon for this problem.

  • Iphone 6 ear speaker problem

i havs iphone 6 at&t un locked bought couple of days back its ear speaker is not working during call .. i have to plug in hands free to listen how can i fix it ?

    Hello there, ehtisham.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for trouleshooting issues with hearing and sound quality on a call from your iOS device:
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5196
    Turn up the volume
While you're on a call, adjust the volume with the volume buttons:
Also while you're on a call, make sure that you can see the volume indicator on the screen when you press the volume buttons:
    Check the connections
If your iPhone is connected to a headset, you won't be able to hear through the iPhone receiver or using speakerphone. Follow these steps, testing after each.
Make sure that you don't have anything plugged in to the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.
    Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
Restart your iPhone and test again.
If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working

Looking for more info regarding this problem..
Purchased iPhone 4 for my wife and I last month.
My iPhone ear-speaker went dead, but the external speaker, plug-in wired ear-phones work, and mic still work.
I went to take it in, and then the darn thing started working again. lol  Same thing happened early this week - not working, then it started working again.
Now my wife's iPhone 4 is starting to do the same thing. argh!
Not really sure if it's hardware or software.. but anyone else on this forum experiencing this same problem?

Yes. My Bluetooth on my iPhone 4 is enabled (to sync with my car).
But my wife's iPhone 4's Bluetooth is not.
I Googled this "ear-speaker problem" and found a few other reports, but no solutions (on Apple support forums).
Just wondering if the people of this forum encountered the same thing.. thanks for your fast reply !

You just wrote you could hear the recording...
You can take it into an Apple store and have it checked out.

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working after 2 restores and cleaning the headphone socket.

    Hi,
I know this problem is not uncommon, but here goes...
I have an iPhone 4 which was running iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago when the ear speaker stopped working.  I cant hear the other person when I make or recieve a call, but nothing else is wrong with the phone.  It is 18 months old.
I've searched the discussions and seen some of the suggestions.  I tried cleaning out the headphone socket, with no luck.  I then tried a full restore and update to iOS 6.  This appeared to have worked.  I tried 2 calls and I could hear the other person.  I then left the phone alone for a couple of hours and when I tried it again, it had stopped working again.
I have since done another full restore but the speaker is still not working at all.  The fact that it worked after the first restore suggests it's something simple or software related but I have no idea what else to try other than getting it repaired in a shop.  The problem is I am in Japan where my network (Softbank) and an independent repair shop have both quoted me the equivalent of $176 / £110 to fix it.
Does anyone know anything else I can try before I give in and end up shelling out this ridiculous cost for something that is probably a 20 minute fix?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem with my ear speaker after my IOS 6 upgrade. My speakers work, bluetooth works, the earphones work, but the ear speaker doesn’t work. I noticed this IMMEDIATELY after the upgrade was completed. I also have the following problems:
-Very slow call connect time. 30 - 45 seconds just to connect is typical. Signal strength is 5 bars (ATT)
    -Problems attaching to known networks
-Very slow internet browsing with many timeouts on both the ATT 3G service and known Wi-Fi networks.
    - My camera was missing after the IOS 6 upgrade. I restored that from Restrictions inside of the Settings App
    - Music was so screwed up it was easier to just restore it
I went to the Apple store hoping to get some support. Between my wife, my son, and myself we have purchased 4 iPhones and an iPad over the last few years with plans to purchase another iPad in a month or so. So it’s not like I' not familiar with Apple Technology and their typical level of support.
The individual who waited on me was rude and condescending. He insisted that all of the problems were hardware related or ATT’s fault, or my fault. He further asserted that IOS 6 had NOTHING to do with any of the problems. I pointed out that it would be quite a coincidence for my hardware to break, for ATT to have network problems, and for me to suddenly forget how to use an iPhone at the same exact moment that IOS 6 had been installed. He maintained his position and offered to sell me another phone.
I don’t expect the folks in the store to reprogram the OS. Mistakes happen. I’m going to guess that Apple’s OS programmers are already working on a fix for many of the IOS 6 complaints that are easy to find on Google. Assigning blame to the customer and denying any responsibility is not a model for success or customer service. I’m sure Apple wouldn’t accept that kind of excuse from their component manufacturers and don’t think it is how they should deal with their customers. Further, Apple wants to own the device. They want to control the apps, the OS, battery, the delivery channel. I’m good with that so long as when there is a problem, they own that as well.
And BTW… I’m not including the maps in my list of issues with IOS 6 because I kind of like the new maps and am willing to give Apple the benefit of the doubt. I believe that their map service will get a lot better in a hurry.

  • After upgrading to iOS5 - phone ear speaker is NOT working

Well, my excitement from upgrading to the new iOS5 on my iPhone 4 gave way to frustration when I found out that the phone's built-in ear speaker is no longer working. Tried everything from a hard reset, to re-syncing with iTunes, playing around with every setting I could find, and a few "fixes" I found online that were absolutely useless and did nothing.
This only appears to happen when making or receiving phone calls (and listening to voice mail) - when I select speaker, all audio plays normally, but clicking back over to headset, and nothing. Earbuds also work okay.
Prior to installing iOS5 this problem did not exist in the least.
Apple - I am going to ASSUME you properly beta tested this OS on ALL compatible devices prior to its release, did you not? Apparently (from my web searching) I am not the only person suffering this malfunction with their iPhone after upgrading to iOS5.
Is there anyone out there that has figured out a way to fix this, or am I just screwed? I don't know how to revert back to iOS 4.3.3 if that's even possible at this point.  This is a phone I use for work, and I need to have this functioning properly.
    Please help. Anyone... thank you.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my iPhone 4. Since the upgrade to IOS5, I've noticed I can no longer hear calls through the ear-piece, though using the speaker phone option works fine.
I took my phone to the  Apple Store in Sydney and they advised that the problem was related to my sim card & that I should contact my telco for a replacement. I seriously didn't believe the Apple rep when she said this, but politely said thanks, went home and tried it out by swapping my sim with my wife's.
Guess what... it didn't make the slightest difference.
My wife has an iPhone 4 still running IOS4 and the ear-piece works fine. I even put my sim card into her phone and it worked fine as well. So the issue is definitely not related to the sim card.
It sounds like a common issue affecting a lot of iPhone 4 users that have upgraded to IOS5. I'm surprised Apple hasn't acknowledged this and have a patch available to correct (it doesn't sound like a hardware issue).
Anyway, looks like a trip back to the Apple store for more great suggestions.

  • Upgrading my Iphone 5 to IOS 7 Ear Speaker is not working, please help us

Iphone 5 Ear Speaker is not working after upgrading it to IOS 7

  • Droid 4 ear speaker will not work / possible software issue

My droid 4's ear speaker has not been working. If I go to make a call, I cannot hear anything unless I put it on speaker phone.
I do not believe this is a hardware issue however because everytime I restart my phone, the ear speaker will work for a couple of calls I make (and sound just fine) and then randomly stop working.
I was wondering if I had any other options before attempting a hard reset. Has anyone else had issues with this and found out what was causing the problem? whether its from a crazy app or from something being disabled?
The only 'trouble shooting' I can find on this websites says to put it into safe mode (which the ear speaker will work in safe mode) and then to start deleting apps to see which one is causing the problem. This seems rather 'clunky' and I'd rather just reset the whole thing if no one has any other suggestions....as it would take me all day to figure out what app is causing the problem...assuming that it even is an app and not something that has somehow been disabled.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • RE: Speaker problems

I have an iPhone 4S.  I have been having speaker problems for a while now and am slowly realizing when using and doing certain things that my sound is not working.  When I take a video my sound does not work, when I facetime with someone they can't hear me but I can hear them.  When I try and put someone on speaker phone they can't hear me.  I can listen to music and listen to videos from facebook, youtube, etc.  So my question is what could be causing this because I have sound otherwise, I can hear text message sounds, facebook notifications, etc.  Help is appreicated.  Thanks.
