Realized Exhange rate in Group Currency

Dear all,
I've issues with Group Currency. I have 2 company codes, one (1000) uses USD & one (2000) use SGD. Group currency is USD.
In company code 1000, I have customer invoice in 1000 USD. After that, I post without clearing for customer payment 1000 USD. Then, I clear this customer by t-code F-32 (also curency USD)
Normally, when clearing customer by this t-code, system with generate a document with has no entry. But in my system, when do this, system will generate an entry like this:
In document currency
Debit Customer 0 USD
Credit Realized ExRate 0 USd
In Local Currency:
Debit Customer 0 USD
Credit Realized ExRate 0 USd
In Group Currency:
Debit Customer 1000 USD
Credit Realized ExRate 1000- USd
So, the result will be wrong when I issue consolidation reports at month end.
Do you know how to correct this ?
Thank you very much for your help,
Best regards,
Sylvecat.

Hi pls check foreign curency valuation method  in that few check boxess or there which u need for ur requirement that one uselect . i think as for ur issue u did selecte reset checkbox pls remove that one
Once u selected reset check boxt then the open items are valuated at the aquisation price . this way the valuation differenceis set zero.the old valuation method is reset.so the account determination is reversed:the revenue that arisesis posted to the expence account.

  • How to get historical currency rate for second group currency transactions in Fixed Assets

    Hello,
My client had MXN (Mexico Currency) as a legal currency and when the company code was implemented (went live) group currency was not implemented. After 3 years this company code implemented second local currency as USD and is now a USD functional Company. When Fixed assets movements such as depreciation, retirement etc are posted; the postings in local currency is fine but postings in group currency is not fine the reason is the exchange rate for group currency must be 'historical rate" but instead of that the entries are being posted in "current rate". To rectify this issue we need to set the exchange rate as the historical rate. Now my question is where/how can I get the historical rate (rate when asset was acquired/purchased). When the assets were acquired the amount was in MXN and there was no maintenance of USD exchange rate as there was no second local currency so then how can I get the historical exchange rate for USD. Most of the assets were acquired/purchased before 5-10 years then how can I find the USD exchange rate for those periods.
    Thanks,
    Rinki

It is necessary yo have a different rate type for average. The month-end rate type cannot be used.
The M-rate type is typically the month-end rate.

  • Realized exchange rate difference in local and group currency

    Hi Friends,
For a company code with local currency as Euro and group currency as USD, the setting in TR code OB22 for group currency is: Translation taking first local currency as a basis. When the open items are cleared, SAP posts difference in local currency and group currency. Sometimes, document currency is also group currency i.e. USD. The realized exchange difference is posted in Euro but it is not converted from Euro to group currency. Instead, system just calculates difference in group currency by comparing the value in group currency at the time of original transaction and when the transaction is cleared. Does anyone have dealt with such requirement and is there a way to be able to translate realized exchange differences from local to group currency?
    Thanks and regards,
    Pinky

    >Sometimes, document currency is also group currency i.e. USD.
Can you explain, it's because of your settings or because of SAP?

  • Avoid posting of realized exchange rate differences in 2nd local currency

    Dear SAP fans,
The situation here in our company is that a company code is set up with NZD as 1st and EUR as 2nd local currency (currency type 30 "Group currency" for EC-CS consolidation).
Therefore, all postings (and balances) are also translated and saved in EUR (with the current exchange rate).
We now have an open item managed G/L account for prepaid expenses, which is used to collect postings which are then cleared later. It's however no payable/receivable account for vendors/customers. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to post realized exchange rate differences when clearing this account. This is however what SAP wants to do when we try to clear it.
For example, if I post today 100 NZD and two months later again 100 NZD to this account. If the NZD vs. EUR exchange rate changed in the meantime, then SAP won't let me clear this account without posting realized exchange rate differences, which makes however no sense.
Does anyone of you meet this problem before? Could you please give me a hint?
I thought about setting the "Only balances in local currency" indicator in the G/L account master but this helps only for differences between local and document currency (and not for differences in 1st and 2nd local currency).
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks and best regards,
    Peter

    Dear Padma,
Thanks for your answer. The customizing activities you mentioned are already set up in the system. This is not our problem.
The problem is however, that we don't want SAP to post automatically realized exchange rate differences between 1st and 2nd local currency as this doesn't make sense in this business case.
It's about an open item managed G/L account which is used to collect posting which are later cleared. It's not a payable/receivable account for customers/vendors where the posting of realized exchange rate differences makes sense.
We've thought about several solution which unfortunately all didn't help us:
    - Don't setup realized exchange rate differences accounts or set them up only for group currency (in OB09)
    - Set indicator "Only balances in local currency" in G/L master data
    Best regards,
    Peter

2.) Can this be changed? Say instead of the original acct assignment, the management want to change it to FX gain/loss account
    3.) How?
I have checked several notes (331910,etc) but I can't seem to find the answers to my questions.
    Appreciate your help. Thanks!

Just an update to this issue- I just found out that the system is pointing to KBS when posting the
exchange rate difference in group currency upon IR, hence, PO account
assignment is adopted. I'd like to rephrase my question- is there any
way we can change SAP behaviour such that it will point to other
transaction key (e.g. KDG) other than KDM? Bottomline is we want it
charged to other GL account not the one in the PO.
Thanks so much for your assistance.

  • Alternate Exchange Rate Type Not Picked while converting from Document Currency to Group Currency

    Hello Gurus,
We have setup an alternate Exchange Rate type MNB for rate M for the postings happening in Hungary. Local currency is HUF. Group currency is USD.
If the document currency is, lets say, EUR, latest MNB rate is correctly picked up (EUR to HUF) and postings are correctly converted into local currency (HUF).
Although, for the same document, when a group currency is being calculated (EUR to USD), exchange rate type M is being picked up. Same happens if  document currency is HUF. Even then, the conversion is based on exchange rate type M.
Is this a normal SAP behavior? How to prevent/correct this? This is also throwing off balances when we check in FAGLB03 or BSEG values in local and group currencies. In OB22, we have local currency1 and local currency 2 setup with exchange rate type M and we may not want to make any changes there as it is setup at global level.
Do we need to run any valuations after the fact? if so, how?
Thank you for your inputs in advance.
    Regards,
    Sagar

    Hi,
You mentioned that "in OB22, we have local currency1 and local currency 2 setup with exchange rate type M". Then, I'm wondering how MNB is picked up for the first local curr. conversion to HUF? It should be 'M' instead. There must be some settings in your instance for such behavior. Can you check that?
Actually, Group Curr. conversion happens with the rate defined for 2nd Loc.Curr.in OB22 which is 'M' in your case. Therefore, all the transactions are converted with M instead of MNB.
Since you can't change OB22 per global co.policy, the exch.rate defined in OBA7 will overrule OB22. However, you've to make sure it's set up for all doc.types which are affected and posted in different curr. than HUF.
As a workaround, another thought would be to maintain the same conversion rate for both exch.rate types MNB & M, for eg. HUF > USD rate is the same both exch.rate type MNB & M. This way, you ensure all transactions are posted with correct exch.rate irrespective of whatever rate type is used.
From business, & global org. perspective, I'm sure they are sending the 'M' exch.rates to all their sister concerns monthly, so they would like to consolidate results as per standard rate in their system. Then, why ,as a local company, would you like to fiddle with standard process? It's a management decision, please run them through again before going ahead.
    Thanks,
    Nirav

    Hi,
If i assume correct you want to supply ur data into flat file on daily basis.
You can use APD to Do this both in BW3.5 and & BI 7.0.
Creating dataflow in APD is pretty simple like process chain.
What you can do is select "table" as a data source and "Flatfile" at datatarget (both on client server or on desktop).
You will get APD option in RSA1 screen.
After creating this APD you can schedule it on daily basis etc.
    Thanks and regards

  • Group Currency  Exchange rate type.

    Hi
We wanted to post a foreign currency document, with a specific Exchange rate, that is specified in the Document type.
Doument Currency is getting converted into Local Currency (Company code currency) based on the exchange rate type specifed in the Document type used for posting.
But, the Group Currency is getting converted from Document currency based on the Exchange rate type : "M" but based on the Exchange rate type specified in the Document type.
Is there any way, apart from specifying Exchange rate type in Parallel Currencies.
We wanted the conversion of Both Local (Company code) & Group currencies be converted based on the Exchange rate type specified in the document type, for some specific postings.
    Following is our Scenario :
    Co.Code Cur - EUR
    Doc.Cur          GBP
    Grp Cur           USD
Document type : XY -- Exchange rate type "1111" specified in the document type.
Now when a document is posted with Document type "XY"  in Document Cur : GBP.
Both Local & Grp currency to be converted based on the Exchange rate type " 1111".
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Hello Kaylan,
I will try to explain the system behavior, regarding to the exchange
rate question, "M" is standard exchange rate type used in R/3 so it's
not possible to change this default setting. However you can assign the
exchange rate type to each FI document type at transaction OBA7. The
exchange rate type assigned here applies to both online/batch postings.
Therefore you can assign a different exchange rate type to the document
types, but not per company code. The exchange rate that you customize at
document type level is validfor the first local currency. However, for
parallel currencies, the system will always use the exchange rate type
defined in transaction OB22. Please, check your customizing there to
    check your changes.
If you want to use exchange rate type B, for example, instead of M, in
customizing you have to give Alt Ex.Type as B against M. So that it will
take B rate whenever M is applicable. If you want this B rate to be
applicable for specific document types then you can do the same at
document type definition itself. Otherwise you can do the same at
payment program level/ Revaluation. These are the only places where
    exchange type comes into picture.

  • GRIR Maintenence  and Clearing for non group currency PO

    Hi Experts
I have an issue where I have a PO in say USD where group currency for company is Aus Dollar (AUD)
At Month end, for whatever reason there is a GR/IR balance and we maintain it with MR11 but MR11 balances the difference in group currency (AUD) where all other postings for the PO are in USD.
When we run F.13 or F13E the account never clears as it only clears transactions of same currency.  We seem to never be able to clear these (without introducing a large tolerance in F.13 perhaps?)
Any ideas on a way forward?
    thanks

    Try the finance forum ?
I'd expect all currency amounts to get converted to company currency and I've never known MR11 not to clear balances.  Wild guess: have you got required exchange rates in place ?

  • Problem with accounting in group currency ( tbb1 )

    Dear all,
to use the group currency, we created a new valuation area.
In case of a new exchange rate we need to account transactions in the correct way; to do this we applied sap notes:
    -          1526242 u2013 TBB1: Incorrect amount in valuation
    -          1407845 u2013 TPM18: Incorrect amount in valuation currency
but the document created are with the old exchange rate.
Some of you can tell me if there is something else to do ?
    Thanks.
    Elena

    Hi Elena,
...which setting have you choosen in customizing (TRM > General Settings > Accounting > Organization > Assign Accounting Codes and Valuation Areas)?
    See F1-Help for field Translation:
"_" Different Valuation Currency: The amount in valuation currency is only translated if the valuation currency is different to the local currency. If the valuation currency and local currency are the same, the amount is transferred.
"1" Always Translate: The amount in valuation currency is always translated from the amount in position currency
"2" If the amount is not fixed: The valuation currency is usually translated from the amount in position currency, like the always translate setting. If you have fixed the amount in local currency or the exchange rate of the payment to local currency in transaction management, the amount in local currency is transferred.

  • Amount in document currency & group currency is different

    dear all,
In my company i have been activated material ledger & parallel currency. I want to make sure is my setting is correct or not and i want give the example:
    <b>Material master data:</b>
    MAV material :
Company code currecny : 20000 IDR
    Group currency : 2 USD
    <b>Purchase Order (foreign currency)</b>
    PO currency : 2 USD
    Qty order : 10 PC
<b>Result of FI document on GR transaction(Exchange rate : 9000):</b>
    Document Currency
    Inventory 22,22 USD 200000 IDR
    GR/IR 20 USD 180000 IDR
    ML 2,22 USD 20000 IDR
    Group Currency
    Inventory 20 USD 200000 IDR
    GR/IR 20 USD 180000 IDR
    ML 20000 IDR
My assumption, calculate to get amount inventory in document currency & group currency is different,
    Document currency:
    <u>Previous MAV (IDR) * Qty GR</u>
    Current Exchange rate
    Group Currency :
Previous MAV (USD) * Qty GR
My question is it correct, amount in document currency & group currency is different. If not correct there is other config to setting that.
    Thanks for your help..

see if you have maintain the PO in the some other currency and your local currency is different from the Po currency  and if you have maintain in the excahnge rate for the same then the system will calculate the price in both currency and yoy can choose <b>1SAP Amount in document and local currency</b>  and if you want to display in the group currency  then maintain the exchange rate and  craete the layout and save that you can display in that cureency while you do the invoice  the system will show the accounting documents in that way on chossing the correct layout.

  • FIFO valuation in Group Currency

    Hi Experts,
In our client Materail Ledger is activated. Balance Sheet Valuation Inventory on FIFO was activated. at present we have no problem to execute the FIFO valuation and getting the results for currency 10, i;e., company code currency.
At present business wants to extend this FIFO valuation to Group Currency (means based on the movements in group valuation). I have gone through the all customisation steps, and could not able to find any specific setting for currency option.
Can any one tell me how can i proceed further. will it be possible to valuate the inventory on FIFO basis in Group Currency. If So, Can you please let me know the procedures to be followed.
    Thanks & Regards,
    S Vasu

    Hello Vasu,
You will not need any additional config for the FIFO part since the currency type 10 would act as reference for the group valuation. So you would need to update the settings for currency and valuation profile and the reference variant and transfer control for the group valuation so that it refers to the costing variant used in the legal valuation and the conversion is based on the exchange rate as mentioned in the table.
