Really annoying ethernetcard problem

I have two ethernet cards. The first is a onboard one " VIA Technologies Inc|VT3119 Gigabit Ethernet Controller" and the other is a "VIA Technologies|VT6105 [Rhine III 10/100]". They both work perfectly, but I prefer the non-onboard one since i works with *BSD.
But lately I have had this strange problem. If you see my dmesg output, it says this now:

Which meen I have to manually edit "/etc/rc.conf" before I can get any internet.

I had the exact same problem (with 2 onboard nics). You need to tell udev to assign both cards their own unique names based on their mac address. As mentioned before, you can find out how by taking a look at the udev wiki article.

Really annoying 'skipping' problem with itunes

Hi
I have recently purchased a new laptop running vista (an HP pavillion 2550) I transfered all my music over from my desktop to use on the move. The trouble is now all the somgs seem to skip at regular intervals. I have never had this on itunes on other PCs and other music players such as windows MP does not do it the the music on the laptop.
Has anyone had this problem- and how on earth do I fix it? It also happens in Quicktime with video.
I can't listen to it because it is so annoying in the middle of the song! It is itunes 8.0.1.11

Hmmm...come on then Apple where is a solution to this? I have serached on the topic and loads of people are having the same issue. I am going to ditch itunes for a media player that does not skip (i.e. any other one!)

Really annoying organisation problem

when ever i organise my folders to snap to grid so they all look neat and tidy it works. but five minutes later it all goes back to being spread out and un organised looking.
i really have no idea what the problem is, i have a new imac battery so that cant be it.
has anyone else had this problem?!

It might be a corrupt Finder .plist file. Try trashing com.apple.finder.plist in your Home, empty the Trash, log out and in, and then set the Finder preferences again.

Really annoying Preview problem

Hey all,
I have no idea what caused this, but the other day, I went to a folder I had a bunch of pictures in to find something. When I opened it up, the files (mainly jpgs) icons, had changed to this blank piece of paper. When I clicked on one of them (in column view) no little preview came up, just the same blank paper icon (I have a lot of pics, so this is really useful to me). So I opened up a bunch of them, and they all open in Colorsync Utility instead of Preview. I went to get info on them, and they said they opened with CSU. When I went to change it to preview, it was not on the dropdown list, and when I clicked "other" preview was not in the recommended apps... I clicked "all apps" and was able to get them to open with preview again, but the icons, are still messed up, and I can get no small preview of the image in column view... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really annoying N95 problem, please help!

Hi all,
Ever since new years, whenever i get a text message, the alert "1 New Message" doesnt appear on my screen, I have to go all the way into my inbox just to see if i have any new messages. Anyone know what's going on? Did i change a setting by mistake perhaps? Because I've looked through the menu and can't find any option to change this.

You cannot choose whether to display this kind of message or not, so your problem is related to a bug in the software most likely. If you feel it is necessary, back up all important data and reinstall the firmware on the device.

Problems with Media and my Blackberry Bold, is it time for me to give up on RIM this is really annoying

Hello RIM,
Over the past year since owning a Blackberry, I have had on-going issues with syncing my music between my (2) bolds, so I know this is not specific to the hardware, I have also managed 400 BB's on a BES before so I have a fair idea of how to do things and troubleshoot issues.
1. My music many times has sounded severely distorted through my car speakers, with lots of bad crackle that hurts my ears
2. Transferring media between my device and my computer is actually really annoying and now I can't even find my playlists on Windows 7
3. This should be seemless, it should not be buggy and I can't believe, having done so much support with your hardware and software that this continues to be a real problem for me
I have a playbook, 2 blackberry bolds (I had to buy another 1 because Mobilicity does AWS only and Bell was just plain mean to me so I gave up on them).
I am ready to go on ebay and get rid of this stuff because whilst I mostly use it as a phone (the reason I went with BB), it is important that I am able to do other things with it, without having to go through a dozen articles and issues just to get things to work, these should have been ironed out in the bug reporting process.
So I have reinstalled both Itunes and BB Desktop Manager, both manually and via repair and tried even recopying over my playlists, this doesn't work.
I can't believe the lousy support and buggy software, come on RIM, there is no excuses in this market, PICK UP YOUR GAME and update the BDS or I am done and so will the many other people who won't even take their time to write anything about it on here but vote with their wallet.

Well you know the playbook is actually pretty cool but didn't seem to be ready to go out on time and being a late entrant to the market I would have expected them to showcase the playbook better, especially like how Nintendo gets out there and gets everyone playing with it hands on, there are some things about the Playbook that actually make it unique but it has been poorly marketed.
Unfortunately getting BDS and everything to work properly should not be an issue, I have already spent thousands of dollars on hardware and my phone provider, what am I actually paying for here? So I will spell out some things that make the Blackberry Playbook special and what I would have been pushing had I been in charge of marketing. Firstly I would have had a few different campaigns going, one that targeted business corporate customers, regular business customers and the public that use them as their choice of smartphone and open to potentially buying one.
1. Flash works really great, come on blackberry, why couldn't you team up with Facebook on this one? Facebook looks better on a Playbook than any other tablet I have seen, in fact the web looks better in general.
2. Stereo speakers(dual), movies sound great, music sounds great and so do games, in this area, Playbook has the upper hand.
3. USB & HDMI out - Allows much easier portability of presentations and transferring of files and now I believe there is the Wifi Sync as well.
4. Blackberry Bridge - You know it's like RIM got backed into a corner on this one, but you know, I think this is the most secure way to operate a tablet, I love how when I turn off bluetooth on my bold, my personal and private information is removed and I can pass it to friends and family without my personal communications being looked into, with the other tablets, it's pretty hard to have different people on them, without probably creating different profiles, with the Playbook, you could share it between a team and it would seamlessly operate between them.
5. True Multitasking - You know, you can play music, whilst playing a game and you can switch between applications, this funtions pretty awesome. I put on some cool music and loaded up a game on the device and someone whom had an Apple device was sincerely impressed he could listen to music whilst reading or playing games etc. This could also enhance Business Presentations that require audio in the background whilst displaying and going through different information / files or charts.
6. QNX OS - I mean wow Blackberry, this Operating System is fantastic, I love it, this was an EXCELLENT choice and this I will give you 5 stars on, I can't wait to see what QNX can do on the Blackberry and I would not be surprised if the QNX OS became a major OS against the others, it definitely is polished and apps just install and are ready to go in no time.
RIM has been ahead of the game and because of it's great name with-in business circles they have almost sold themselves and whilst it's nice to see that RIM has sold over 250,000 units with-in the first week this could have been drastically improved by realizing when getting into a NEW market, they need to do the proper marketing and get the devices out there with subject matter experts to educate people whom are checking them out so they can share that information with their friends.
Google paid a very large price with their Nexus One because they where over-confident and thought they would sell based on their name alone, this could have been a learning curve RIM did not have to deal with. There are actually other nice things about the Playbook, the apps that are in their app store are pretty cool and when Android apps are available it will be cooler.
I like the size of the tablet I can comfortably reach accross the screen to hit all the keys on the digital keyboard making it any larger and I couldn't hold it in my hands with the same comfort; copping out to apple fan boys thinking they must have a 10.1" tablet is not necessary, this is the perfect size to sit in your hands, some people think they are small but if they actually watch a movie or play a game on it or look at websites by "Playing with it themselves" they will react differently and actually suggest if your going to do a 10.1" tablet, also keep the smaller sized one as well.
Suggestions :
- Working on building in more extensions for gaming such as Unity so that games like battlestar galactica online etc could be played online and directions could be replaced by using the gyroscope.
- Hire more people if you are having problems meeting deadlines, these companies, including Apple are taking risks to win the market, if your going to take a swing at your competitors, please make it a punch and not a jab, the biggest thing you still have on your side is the market you already had and the market share you have been losing and since we all upgrade our devices so often at this time, come out with something special and we will continue to support you. Okay now that I have that off my chest I feel better. DAMMIT !

I understand it is from the App Store. That is part of iTunes. You still need to contact them for assistance, or you can try Express Lane, https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Additionally, your 24 hours don't start until you begin to watch the movie, you have 30 days to start watching the movie.

Can't make or receive any calls. When making a call, you see the thing dialing but no tone, it rings at he other end however. When somebody trying to call me, it does not ring at my end. If you try to end the call, the phone page will just freeze, when you exit the phone page to go try the MP3 player for example, and come back, the phone is still trying to end the previous call. I tried resetting the network settings, turn the phone off and on , no difference at all. It's easter Sunday, everything is closed here in Montreal.

Connecting via Airport express: really annoying problem

I've got a really annoying problem that doesn't make much sense. Have an airport express and my network seems to work OK mostly. My iBook can always connect, never any problem. My eMac however is behaving bizzarely. The longer I'm connected, the worse my connection gets. Until it stops working altogether and I can't access the internet at all. System preferences tells me the Airport card is on, but is not connected to a network. Can still connect to it with the iBook.
Shut down, leave it a good while (a good while too, a short shut down doesn't do it), and it works again.
I can't even think where to start looking, all I can think of is that I have a problem with the Airport card in the eMac (something getting hot in there perhaps). Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure the card is seated properly (it works most of the time after all). I couldn't get it to work when I installed it because it wasn't seated properly, I pushed it in as far as it could possibly go and it has worked since (except after extended periods of use). The Airport express is three feet from the eMac with only a couple of bits of wood between them. The connection does not go down at times which I can link with the use of any particular appliances (When the eMac stops working, the iBook is always fine, even in a similar position). It is the apparently time-dependent aspect that I can't figure out (I only notice it on those, fairly infrequent, occasions when I am online for a few hours at a time). The eMac discussion group is a good tip. Ta.

Help, Really annoying problem,

when I copy certain tracks to my ipod, they appear 2 times in the ipod listings as in If I copy over 'Since I've been loving you by led zepp' and then click on led zep in the artist listings, there will be two idenical names 'Since I've Been Loving You', like its referencing the same song twice, I'm using a Nano latest firmware, and latest itunes with a macbook, its really annoying,
Also alot of times songs I send over wont appear under the artist as expected, and they dont even appear under the unknown section, instead the only way to play them is find them in the all songs section, I mean whats that about??

A spelling or punctuation mistake, or sometimes a trailing space usually causes this after the artists and/or song name, which fools the iPod into thinking that there are two different artists or songs. The trailing space is the hardest to spot.   Best way to cure this is to go into iTunes, highlight that artist and/or songs, right click on them and select "get info".   This brings up the multiple song info window. In the artist or song box retype the name, as you would like it, and then click ok. Do this even if no mistakes are immediately visible.
  Re sync this new artist/song info to your iPod.
As for your artist problem, it could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.
You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.

A really annoying problem!!!

Alright guys, I got an annoying problem with my mac.
The text formatting is on many occasions all wrong like this:

Another thing is, the sound fails me, but not in itunes and stuff but only in flash files, games etc. Really annoying!
I did a complete format before but after a couple of days this came up again.
Anyone know what to do about it?

I'm not sure about the text problem (although sometimes it can be to do with the website itself, I think), but the sound problem sounds like something that happened to me a while ago. Go to Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup and look where it says "Audio Output" - there'll be a box for "Format". Check the Hz number it says; ensure that it says 44100.0 Hz. If you find that it did not say 44100.0 Hz your problem is one of the programs you use. Some programs, e.g. Audacity (that's the one that caused my problem), change that level to one that is too high - this causes the sound problems you described. Once you've found out which program it is you can either avoid using it or change the level back to 44100.0 Hz after every use.
