Really? cannot email from Preview?

this is getting worse and worse. as if doing away with the 'Save As' from Preview wasn't enough, we now do not have the option of emailing a document directly from Preview?
i can't find a workaround except to Duplicate>Save>new email>attach from folder
REALLY? i can't believe this...

Not sure why you see that. My share button in Preview (same version) offers to share via email, as the picture below shows.
To be honest, I never use this, anyway. So maybe you can use *my* usual way as *your* workaround: click and hold the icon in the title bar and drag over the Mail icon in the Dock. This does exactly the same thing as the share by email button.

Cannot email from Finder or Preview

I have upgraded to Yosemite. Suddenly I find that on my iMac (but not in my MacBookPro or MacPro), I cannot email documents from the Finder or within Preview. When I click the icon in the Finder window or in the Preview window a gray "No Service" message appears.
As I mentioned, my MacBookPro and MacPro are able to email or message from the Finder or Preview. It is just my iMac.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Can't share via email from Preview Share button

I'm running Yosemite. I have Outlook for Mac (newest version, 15.6) set up as my default mail application. In the Share button menu, the Email option appears properly. However, when I attempt to share a document via email within Preview using the Share button, I merely get an error alert tone. All other Share options (Messages, etc.) work fine. I am able to Share via Email from other apps without a problem. The problem seems to lie within Preview. I've tried resetting Preview to the best of my knowledge by deleting the plist, etc. Any other ideas?

Thanks. Yes, I've done so. The Outlook icon does appear in the Share menu, but when I click on it, I only get the alert tone.

I give up - cannot email from iPhoto 11

I have tried all suggestions on this forum, discarded preferences, etc. but cannot email a picture from iPhoto. The blue "send" line just goes to the right and stays stuck there every time. Nothing is sent. Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Thanks.

Yes I have the same problem exactly.
In my email preferences,Outlook i don't use mac mail ( hate the new one, another story)
It appears I don't need a user name and password for my outgoing mail only incoming.
So as iphoto is only sending out, i deleted any username or password and it works.
ie only outgoing server and port 25.
I pressed the send button and received the photos during a test.
But here is the kicker, iphoto won't let me save these preferences without a username and password, but it does let me send while the preferences dialogue box is open without the username and password entered.

Cannot email from iPhoto 9.2 with my MobileMe-email only account.

I can send emails from my MobileMe regular account, but not from my MobileMe-email only account. I keep getting the alert:

Yup, I have exactly the same problem like you have.
I thought it was a problem with Apple's iCloud server but one of my friend told me this morning that he didn't have any problem with iPhoto' s iCloud email sending.
Do I have to do all the clean install from the beginning or what?
This thing is really bugging me I didn't have any problem when I was using mobileme account connected with iphoto back then.
I'm not even sure if it's the problem with Lion or iPhoto or iCloud anymore...

or IMHO the better option is to use mail as the email client - set in the iPhoto preferences

Sending emails from preview with alternative email clients

Hi, I've got a problem. I've changed my standard email-client from Apple Mail to Unibox. And, of course, I changed the standard email client in the adjustments of Apple Mail too. So everything is working fine except one thing:
When I try to send a pdf-file from Apple preview.app as a mail, nothing happens. What can I do to tell Apple Preview to use my new Mail-client Unibox for sending mails?

I understand your need to support sales leave-behinds from your DPS app, which is why I wrote that blog post in the first place.
The mailto: hyperlinking approach works well from a web browser, but the webkit overlay that we we get from iOS (that we use in DPS) is definitely not a browser. Browsers have special access to the local file system, where we would like to store PDFs to attach to email. The webkit overlay does not have this access, so we can't use the normal scheme of:
mailto:[email protected]?subject=my%20email%20message&body=see%20attachment&attachment="\\myhost\myfolder\myfile.p df" to pass the path to Mail.app.
This limitation means that you need to use some other method to provide access to that PDF. In my blog article (to which you refer), I provide a method to provide a form that would compose an email that contains a link to the PDF, which would need to be hosted somewhere the reader could access in their browser. An alternative to this approach would be to construct a server-side form that lets a validated user (sales rep?) select some files and send them to their customer. The email would need to be composed and sent from the server, and a quick Google search reveals whole pile of PHP examples of how to send email from a web form.
Frankly, for your use case of sales enablement, I believe that a server-side system is the better choice, because it would provide you with a way to manage that content outside of DPS, so you can update it without having to republish your .folios.

Cannot email from from iphoto

I used to be able to email from within iPhoto with no problems. My latest macbook Pro came with iPhoto 11 installed.
I have tried to email photos from within iPhoto 11 with no success. All of my email accounts are working fine, when I try to mail within iPhoto I get the error message that my email server did not reply. I am frustrated with this as it all worked perfectly before.
Any answers please?

Alison - I got both my desktop and Macbook Pro to send a photo from email. I was on the phone with Apple support to explain that neither one of my devices would send a photo.
*Mail > Preferences>Accounts> Account Information
In the Outgoing Mail Server (STMP) smtp.mail.me.com. Check "Use only this server"
Then go to Advanced with this Account (mine is ICloud). Enable this account and Include when automatically checking....should both be checked
Port: mine was 993 and "Use SSL" is checked.
Authentication: Password. Check in "use IDLE Command if server supports it.
I don't know why this was suddenly changed a few months back. Now that I have upgraded to ICloud, it was all a bit confused. I had a mobile me account and gmail. Now I have gmail and Icloud.
Hope this works for you. If it doesn't make sense, let me know. I will TRY to help.

I can email from my icloud account on icloud.com but not on my iphone. Is anyone having the same issue?

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

I cannot email from iPhoto

When I email from iPhoto 9.5.1, I get this message "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." My server is gmail and iPhoto/Preference/Account was autofilled. I deleted and filled my password to make sure but I still get this error message. MacbookAir, OSX 10.9.3

I was trying to send the photos from iPhoto as I get a better choice of format ...
The iPhoto templates are nice, but iPhoto as mailer has not been working well with gmail in the past.
By using "Mail" as mail client, you could use the Mail stationary instead. These templates are also quit nice.

Cannot email from iPhoto: internet not connected message

I am using the latest version of iPhoto and also have just upgraded to Yosemite, though this problem has existed forever and I am just now at my limit of tolerance.
I get a message that says my internet is not connected or working properly; completely false btw. I have tried deleting my accounts in iPhoto and reinstalling them to no avail.
What do I do?

I could have sworn that I had chosen the options you suggested in the first place. I did change to select Mail as the app and after your message, I tried once again to select iPhoto as the email app and yes, my iCloud account was at the top of the account list in iPhoto. This time the email from iPhoto worked perfectly.
As they say in NYC..."Go figure"

If you want to print what appears on an iPad screen but the app does not have a "share" icon, take a screenshot and print it.
To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are AirPrint-enabled.

How do I reset my pdf driver in Mozilla? It keeps (quick books) telling me to go to my windows operating page and select it to open and I should be able to disable the pdf driver. where is the operating windows in mozilla.

Quite seriously, the servers themself are really the least likely
culprit here. Everything points to a much more wdespread problem
affecting pretty much everything on the network. That could be the
network itself, or some machine that has crapped out and overloads the
net, something like that. NW65SP8 / BM3.9 is extremely stable, including
all included drivers.
