I have been a lurker here, learning from reading other's posts. I am in serious need of help, as I have been struggling with this issue for over a week and I can't move forward to other things until I get it resolved...
Here's what's up: I am creating a single-page website as a landing page for a product I offer. (These are very common now in product marketing). The page is here: http://www.howtogetamazingrelationships.com.
The page that is there is about the 4th iteration of the page in the quest for a faster-loading page. Everytime I test it - no matter what I do - it ends up being about a 24 second load time. Here are the things I have done to try to speed this baby up:
1. Took my youtube video off auto-play.
2. Optimized the site using Web Site Maestro. 27% decrease in size; no load time difference.
3. Took out shapes and graphics.
4. Rebuilt the site on a blank template - now it is actually a little worse!
5. Took out the website.js file - totally messed things up.
6. Eliminated the navigation.
Nothing is even showing the least bit of difference in speed...and it is driving me crazy.
Here's the thing - I have also contacted Web Site Maestro's support for help, and they said that the problem was the size of the site and the length of the page. I checked my site on a different web analyzer, and it does seem to be loading quickly - 15.66 seconds for a 56 k, but only 3.6 for T1. So that is good -
One thing I noticed in the recommendations is that there are 6 scripts that are running, that can slow things down. I don't really know how to change that (I am pretty web-savvy, but far from a developer) Here's what they recommended on the page -

MacBook Pro will not start up anymore. Really in need of help!
I was using my MacBook earlier today, but it was acting very sluggish, and eventually it was unresponsive. I pushed the power button to try to reset it, but nothing ever happened, so I just held it down til the computer shut off. Then, when it turned back on, it told me I needed to repair the disk or reinstall OS X. I've tried both and neither work. It is old enough that it came with an installation disk, so I also used that upon startup, but it keeps telling me that my Mac Hard drive is locked/cannot be used to start up. I'm really confused as to what is happening and why, and nothing that the "help" is telling me to do is working. If anyone has any possible solution, I would greatly appreciate any advice. I would really love to keep the files I have on it if possible.. Thanks!
Try SMC reset. If the battery in your MB can be removed by you, use that set of instructions, otherwise the other set:
Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC. -
Ti Polar MIDI connection to Logic Studio 8 (Really in Need of Help)
Hello virus and Logic Pro Users. I'm in need of desperate help and would appreciate anyones guidance with the issue I have. I have managed to connect my Ti Polar to Logic Studio 8. However, I have came across the issue of MIDI Channels.
So here is the problem:
For simplicity lets assume I have two tracks. Track 1 is piano, track 2 is strings. I set track 1 to MIDI channel 1 and track 2 to MIDI channel 2 on logic studio. Remember that all sounds are coming from the external device which is my Ti Polar. So, I record my piano track and I'm ready to move on to the second track. *NOW, when I click on the second track and change the keyboard's sound to strings, my first track (piano) changes to strings as well :(*
*What should I do to freeze or lock track one with the sound I assigned to it?*
Furthermore, *I want Logic studio 8 to be set in a way that when I click track 1, my virus Ti jump to the sound that I had set up (e.g. Piano) and when I click on track 2 the Ti automatically goes to the assigned sound (in this case strings).*

Bust still... when I record track 1 and move on to track 2 - channel 2 to record (which on my access Ti keyboard I manually change its midi channel from 1 to 2 by going to Config section), when I play back, only midi channel 2 or basically the track that I just recorded (track 2) plays back. Track 1 stays silent. Also when I change the tracks (e.g selecting track 1), I don't see any changes on my keyboards screen. If it functions well, I believe, every time I change the track, the sound of the keyboard has to change to the specific sound I have assigned to. Please clarify this for me its so confusing and frustrating.... Thank you. -
Due to circumstances beyond my control (work), I have gotten a couple of weeks behind in my Introduction to Java class. Consequently, I am also far behind in learning code.
For my first assignment, here is what I had to do:
Create a non-GUI based Java application that calculates weekly pay for an
employee. The application should display text that requests the user input the name
of the employee, the hourly rate, and the number of hours worked for that week. The
application should then print out the name of the employee and the weekly pay
amount. In the printout, display the dollar symbol ($) to the left of the weekly pay
amount and format the weekly pay amount to display currency.
Below is my code. I've commented out the line that should multiply, as I can't get it to compile without errors. I've not even begun to make the name appear in the printout, as I can't get the multiplication to work. Please, please help me!

You have two variables, a String weeklyHours and a double WeeklyHours (with a capital W). In java case matters.
Also, try not putting all your code into the main method. Split it into smaller methods and use OO concepts. eg:

HELP! This is really urgent - need Font help
Hi all. I have a Mac Mini Tiger OSX (10.4.8). I run QuarkXPress 5 using the Classic Environment installed at the factory with '~ATM' in the Control Panels folder as part of OS 9.2.2. I use ATM Delux as my font manager. It appears that ~ATM has dropped out of the controls panel folder. Now any job previously created in Quark will only display bitmapped fonts (system fonts seem okay). I have tried to drop a copy of ~ATM back into the Control Panel folder and restart but it appears for a second or to the drops out again. What can I do. I have a deadline!! TJ
There is an "Extensions Manager" Control Panel inside Mac OS 9. This utility can control other system files, like Control Panels, besides extensions. Has the ATM Control Panel been disabled in the Extensions Manager?

Need some help! My iPhone 4 cannot play music through it's built in speaker, only with headphones. I also cannot adjust volume, it only shows "ringer". I really do not know when it starts. I already clean the jack and dock,reset it and still cannot be fixed. I updated it to IOS 7.1.1 recently only, does it have connection with the inconvenience I am experiencing right now? No such thing is sold from any authorized source in the US. The Sprint phone is not unlocked. It can be unlocked by Sprint for use on international (non US) carriers for current Sprint customers in good standing after completing (I believe) 60 days of service.
If you are having problems using certain features on an unsupported carrier, you'll have to work it out with your carrier. -

Hi. I am reinstalling Macbook Pro OS X from the "question mark icon". During process, there is a question "select the disk where to install Mac OS X" but there is no option/selection in the box. I really need your help guys. I need it badly. :'(
If you got the question mark and you do not see any partition to install OS X to, it is not good.
Close the OS X installer by pressing the red button at the top left corner of the Install OS X window, and open Disk Utility. Then, look at the left sidebar and tell me if you see your hard drive. You should see something like this:
Do not worry if you do not see Macintosh HD or if the option with an arrow shows a different name. This is normal.
If you see it, choose it, go to the Erase tab and erase the drive. Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. You will lose everything if you do not have a backup.
If you do not see the drive, it is damaged and it has to be replaced. You can replace the hard drive of a MacBook Pro without voiding the warranty, and any 2'5" SATA hard drive is valid. If you are not an experienced user or you do not want to go inside the MacBook, take it to an Apple Store or reseller. -
Ok so I am having issues with charging my iPad as well. So I took advice from this forum and yes, if you turn the brightness down my iPad charges. Thanks Apple I just went and spent money on a new charger I didn't need. Really you need to fix this issue.

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

When I go to Application System, then Application Entry and enter the password a dialog box appears.... "FRM-40039: Cannot attatch library Empower while opening from APPUSRAPP."
That's what I have to fix. I have no clue. I don't even really know how to click around in this program. Please help, someone.

I've tried to execute J2ee tutorial examples.
I don't know why this sample didn't execute...I've already finished to set up J2EE and enviornment variables.
I was trying this part from j2ee tutorial titled as "Packing Web modules".
Whenever I type "asant create-war" to make web modules in command window. I always got error.
Packaging Web Modules(From J2ee tutorial for your information)
A web module must be packaged into a WAR in certain deployment scenarios and whenever you want to distribute the web module. You package a web module into a WAR using the Application Server deploytool utility, by executing the jar command in a directory laid out in the format of a web module, or by using the asant utility. This tutorial allows you to use use either the first or the third approach. To build the hello1 application, follow these steps:
In a terminal window, go to <INSTALL>/j2eetutorial14/examples/web/hello1/.
Run asant build. This target will spawn any necessary compilations and will copy files to the <INSTALL>/j2eetutorial14/examples/web/hello1/build/ directory.
To package the application into a WAR named hello1.war using asant, use the following command:
asant create-war
This command uses web.xml and sun-web.xml files in the <INSTALL>/j2eetutorial14/examples/web/hello1 directory.
To learn how to configure this web application, package the application using deploytool by following these steps:
Start deploytool.
Create a web application called hello1 by running the New Web Component wizard. Select FileNewWeb Component.
In the New Web Component wizard:
Select the Create New Stand-Alone WAR Module radio button.

First of all make sure your tutorial folder is installed from the root:
C:\javaeetutorial5
or
D:\javaeetutorial5
it makes things so simple.
Secondly:
set your jee tutorial home
JAVAEE.TUTORIAL.HOME =
C:/javaeetutorial5
Thirdly: check in:
C:\javaeetutorial5\examples\bp-project
make a copy of the build.properties.sample save it as build.propropties, as a property file,
edit the properties file as in:
build.properties
As follows:
# uncomment the property javaee.home, and add the path
# to your GlassFish Java EE 5 SDK installation
javaee.home=c:/Sun/SDK
javaee.tutorial.home=c:/javaeetutorial5
# Uncomment the property j2ee.server.username,
# and replace the administrator username of the app-server

AS_ADMIN_PASSWORD=admin1234and so fourth. Some of the settings as the application server name is all done for you
and then test it again.
Take care of editing the property file. It can give you headache.
Note also that this is for application server 9.1 - JEE5.

Do you have an Apple-ID? if you do, then you should not have to enter your Address again, and may be able to sidestep the US Zip Code issue.
