Really need some help here. My G5 keeps putting itself to sleep and more..
Just out of the blue my mac doesn't turn on. I turned it on a few more times and it still wouldn'tt power up, my screen was just not recognizing anything. So I open up my mac unplug everything, than turn it back on and it works again. But the fan is very loud, I hear grinding noises every now and than, and the weirdest thing is it would not power up unless I took the cover off my mac and removed the plastic bay that protects the inside from dust.
Now it keeps putting itself to sleep. Over and over it's so frustrating.
I'm very concerned here, is this a hard drive problem? I even formated my hard drive, but that did nothing.
What is going on here?
Have you checked the PRAM battery?
I would check it first. When mine went, I had no response from my Mac at all; just a light on my power button; absolutely no boot at all.
Check out things in Texas Mac Man's Battery, PRAM, PMU tutorial on the subject. His tutorial is a little dated (don't believe it even mentions G5's) but the info in it, except SMU not being included, still applies.
I believe this is the battery for a Late 2005 G5 2.5 dual. Yours is near the age it should be replaced.

GS60 2PE Hopeless really need some help here!!!
Hey MSIer, I just did a complete wipe on my hard drive and now there's totally nothing left on the drive like really nothing so what I wanna ask is that how do I get back all the pre installed software including windows 8.1 itself, how?
Does anyone out there don't mind taking some time to help list down a guide on how to get back to how the laptop originally was(all the pre installed software including windows 8.1 iitself)? Your help is really much much much muchhhh appreciated!!! T_TQuote from: Syrellaris;112053
You should be able to restore using the Recovery Discs you made(if you made them..) or by pressing the F3 key during bootup.
Though, if you wiped all partitions on the hard drive, including the normally hidden recovery partition you are kind of screwed.. in that case you need to send it in for repair, but it will not be fixed under warranty.(if you dont have Recovery disc's)
Quote from: JakeSully;112055
Yeah best option when getting a new laptop it is to create a recovery dic or USB recovery and atleast .iso recovery to that way incase you wipe everything on hard disk you can restore every partitions that was wiped including recovery partition that has copy of windows 8.1 64 bit that comes pre-installed.
I didn't do any recovery disc and have yet to try the F3 button that you mention. So let say even if the F3 is not working I'm totally screwed right? -
Really need some help here to try and get Fios services in my building
I have been trying to convince my landlord for months to get Fios in the building. Here is a recent email exchange with him. Does anyone know if any of this is true, about the install damages? If it is true, then Verizon needs to get their act together!
Here is the email exchange.
D-
I am sorry but we have no plans to let Verizon in to this building. They do
a lot of damage to the building and do not make the repairs after or pay for
any damages they do.
Thanks,
Steven

Subject: Question
Hey Steve,
Could you please do me a favor and speak with the building owner once again
about Fios? I know you mentioned he wasn't to keen on the idea of them
doing the install but it would really make a big difference. As of right
now my iPad's cellular connected internet is faster for $30/mo than the
$120/mo I'm paying Time Warner. On top of that, I can't even watch HD
movies on demand. I've had TWC out here twice in the last four months and
every time they claim nothing is wrong. Its very frustrating. I'll do
almost anything I can to assist in this. Please let me know if you can do
anything.
Thank you as always!james211 wrote:

If your landlord doesn't want FIOS in the building, then it's not going to happen.

I really need some help here....Please?
Hey guys i have posted numerous threads regarding this issue but to no avail so im going to try one last time.
Basically, Itunes works fine UNTIL i start to sync, Then it freezes up for a while then starts to sync a little bit...Then freezes and syncs a little bit..And so on..
It took me 2 WHOLE days to sync 15 episodes of southpark.
I transfered some movies and songs to my wifes laptop and it sync'd everything in around 50 seconds flat, So its now obvious that it must be my PC.
I have USB 2 and i have 6 slots, I have tried ALL the different USB slots and it stays the same.
Does anyone have ANY idea what this could be?
I spoke to the guy who built my PC and he is changing the USB ports, He also said if that doesn't work he will change my motherboard..
Is there a simple solution to this? Am i going to have to change Motherboard? ANY help would really be greatful.Hold your horses....
Have you done some "rule out" testing? How do you know that the USBs are bad? How do you know that the MB is bad?
1/ do all ports work when you plug a mouse in them?
2/ what is a throughput when you plug a flash drive into these USBs (try 1 at a time) and copy a large file onto it? Test all the ports and compare speeds - are they at least 5-10 MB per sec? If yeah, then they are OK - system wise.
If the USBs don't work and it's a PCI card, look for drivers and if no luck, buy a new card.
If the USBs are built into the MB, then you have no other choice but to replace it, but only as the very last resort. Seems to me that he's trying ot hose you, my friend.....
IN any case, it could be the drivers! Or..iTunes. Did you try to remove & reinstall? -
Problems with the address book server! Really need some help here!
Hello everyone!
for about some time now, we're having some troubbles with the address book server located on our Mac Pro Server running SL Server. The connected clients somehow show multiple entries of groups, contacts and everything else address book can show. Sometimes you see one group or contact about 20-30 times or even more.
How can the addressbook server on SL Server be configured that these faults won't show up again. With this present, using address book server is useless. As far as my knowledge goes, I've tried everything I can. I deleted the address book account set up on each client, readded it, but no help. I stopped the address book server on the Mac pro, but no help either.
For your further information: we're connecting 14 clients. Moste of the rum Lion, three run ML and several iDevices connect via WiFi.
Please help me, as this really is frustrating!
Looking forward for your help.
Regards,

Really need some help here!!
Right chaps. Been with bt 16 months now(contract due to run out in dec) been paying my bills on time and not running up high bills..my monthly base cost is around 47 pound per month..
Direct Debit is around 62 pound per month and ive just recieved an email saying its going p to 82 per month!!!!1
how can my direct debit be nearly double my monthly bill when we hardlys use the phone (mobiles all the way)
im on unlmited inf 2 (so no extra bb charges),never misses any bills, always bee on time.
Im just stumped as to why my direct debit is going up and not down.
Any help?Welcome to the forum. The Monthly Payment Plan strikes again! There's no point in trying to guess how the payments are determined as the system works (if that's the correct word) in unfathomable ways. It might be possible to get them amended, or even do it yourself in MyBT, but surely enough it will go wrong again at some point.
Do yourself a favour and switch to monthly billing. It's very reliable in my experience, and once it's up and running you're simply billed each month for the next month's standing charges plus any one-offs (eg call charges) incurred during the previous month. There are a couple of downsides in that any substantial one-offs can't be spread over several months and that you can't change your direct debit date (which is fixed at 8 days after the bill) but that's a small price to pay for the reliability. If you switch while you are in credit, the balance will be set against subsequent bills until it's used up.

Really Need Some Help with CME 8.6 using IOS as Firewall and Anyconnect VPN on Phones
Hello,
I have a 2911 Router with IOS Security and Voice enabled and we are using CME 8.6. I am using a built-in Anyconnect VPN on 3 phones that are for remote users and thus I needed to enable security zones on the router which works because the remote phones will boot up, get their phone configs and I am able to call those remote phones from an outside line.
The issue I am having is that when I try to dial a remote phone connected via the VPN through port g0/0 from and internal office phone, i.e., NOT involving the PSTN then there is no audio. It's as if no audio is going back and forth. When I take off the security zones from the virtual-template interface and the g0/0 interface then the audio works great and I can reach the phone from internal as I am supposed to.
Could someone take a peek at my security config and see why audio would not be traveling through the VPN when I have my security zones turned on?

Would you be able to change the entry to permit ip any any (just for testing purpose) and then test to see if the calls function properly. If they work fine then we know that we need to open som ports there.

System won't boot. Could really use some help here.
I have the K8T-Neo FISR2 mobo. When I set up the system, the SATA drive was set up as drive F: (onto which I installed Windows XP Home). I added a 2nd SATA drive later, and it became C:. Both drives are plugged into the Promise SATA ports. The system has been running fine for about a year now.
I was having a problem with a program not running properly. I stopped the process and tried to restart it, but it didn't work. It was a program that drives my Logitech gaming keyboard (with LCD screen). After I rebooted, the system would load windows, then after Windows was loaded, it would load up a program when I went into it and crash. It looked like it would crash on PXHELP.DLL (something like that). I booted up into safe mode, renamed the file so it wouldn't load, and now it won't boot at all. It starts to show the Windows logo and then instantly reboots. I can't even get into Safe Mode as it does the same thing.
I tried booting from an XP CD to do a repair, but when it boots, it doesn't see the hard drives. I downloaded the Promise drivers, put them onto a floppy, and load them as Windows is booting from the CD. It seems to load the drivers, but when I choose to do a repair (or even a new install), Windows comes back and tells me that I have no hard drives attached to the computer. I just can't seem to get Windows to see those hard drives!
I could really use some advice here......Quote from: Tiresmoke on 04-January-06, 01:36:35
Try swapping the Drive Cables. You may have one that is not engaging as well as it should.
When I let the PC boot up like normal (without booting from the CD), it sees the drives and Windows tries to load, so I don't think it's the cables. I'll make sure they're reset, but I really don't think that's it. -
Powerbook keeps putting itself to sleep
My powerbook goes through phases where it puts itself to sleep over and over again. I may get a few seconds to maybe a minute before it goes back to sleep. I'll be working or using the trackpad or whatever and it will do it anyways. I usually have to reboot in order to get it to fix itself, but sometimes it starts sleeping before I can even log in. This problem happens both with the power adapter plugged in and when running on battery. The battery is fully charged. My power and energy saver settings are normal, it shouldn't be going to sleep every 2 seconds. I read some stuff about resetting pram, tried it, didn't do anything (could I have not reset the pram correctly?) Also, I read something about resetting PMU (I think that's what it's called), followed the steps, and so far it hasn't happened again but I'm not too hopeful. This is supposedly a known powerbook problem - anybody have a solution?
Hi, jmenking. I've read every entry on these Titanium Powerbook forums for almost two years, and I don't recall ever seeing this problem reported here before, so I question whether it's really a "known Powerbook problem", at least with the Titanium models. Is yours Titanium (with most of its ports on the back panel betwen the two hinges) or Aluminum (most ports on the side panels)?
It sounds as though there may be a problem with the reed switch built into the latch assembly inside your display bezel, which is supposed to put the Powerbook to sleep when you close the display. The switch is normally activated by a strong magnet inside the display latch button, but it sounds as though your switch is either being activated when it shouldn't by some other magnet in its near vicinity (this doesn't seem likely unless you have magnets strewn about your workspace), or is broken, and closes the circuit when it shouldn't. I would suggest taking your Powerbook to an Apple dealership for a look-over or calling one or more of the shops listed below for advice. If the switch is bad, the repair is definitely a job for a technician — it's not a do-it-yourself proposition at all.

Imac keeps putting itself into Sleep Mode.
This morning my Imac has put itself into sleep mode twice within an hour - losing everything I was working on. It just goes black and then loads the log in screen.
I've never had this issue before, it's not over heating (not sure if that could be a problem) it's not full up, it's not lagging it's just this problem.
I really cannot afford the time to take my Imac into the store for repair unless ofcourse it's really needed. Can someone help please?
Thank you,Hi Tori,
Unfortunately I'm unable to help, but I want to add that I had exactly the same problem this morning (Jan 13, 2013)! It was putting itself into sleep mode twice within 5 minutes.
In contrast to TorkiClarkson, the fan of my iMac was blowing hard, but that happened a lot the last months without falling into sleep mode. Actually I'm a bit afraid I've got a heating problem since my warranty of 1 year has experienced..
Hope someone has valuable information for TorkiClarkson and me.
Thanks. -
Need Some Help Here From The Pros....
Hi all...Im new here you see. I have some questions here..
1) May I ask if anyone could just tell me how to actually create a partition like Windows do in Mac OS? I need the partition to do my backups and save some of my important documents.
2) Can we actually create a password to secure certain of my files so that anyone wants to browse it will have to enter the password? Is it possible to do that?
3) Im also trying to use Visor(i cant remember the name, it's a software to enable Mac to run windows without the boot camp) but i tried on my friend's Macbook, I cant use the MSN camera function... Anybody have any idea??? Or it's not compatible with the camera built-in.
4) I want to use "3D Studio Max", its it compatible with Mac OS??? and will it be laggish if i uses macbook 13" white?
Please help....Hi!
1) May I ask if anyone could just tell me how to actually create a partition like Windows do in Mac OS? I need the partition to do my backups and save some of my important documents.
With your external drive attached, open Disk Utility, found in Applications/Utilities. Choose your drive on the left, and use the Partition tab to set up the number and type of partitions. Partitioning will delete all data on the drive.
2) Can we actually create a password to secure certain of my files so that anyone wants to browse it will have to enter the password? Is it possible to do that?
Don't forget that the Mac, just like Windows, is multi-user. You can set up a user for yourself and one for guests or specific people. Nobody can see anybody else's files. You can lock your computer when you go away from the desk if you want absolute privacy.
Or, you can create an encrypted disk image (also using Disk Utility) to store private files if you really want to stick with one user account.
3) Im also trying to use Visor(i cant remember the name, it's a software to enable Mac to run windows without the boot camp) but i tried on my friend's Macbook, I cant use the MSN camera function... Anybody have any idea??? Or it's not compatible with the camera built-in.
Do you mean VMWare Fusion? I believe iSight support is included in the VMWare Tools - when you're running Fusion, there's a menu option to install/update those tools.
4) I want to use "3D Studio Max", its it compatible with Mac OS??? and will it be laggish if i uses macbook 13" white?
I believe it's Mac only, so you should check the Windows specs (RAM requirements, graphic card VRAM, etc) to see if you can run it within a virtual Windows on your Macbook.

REALLY need some help with transparent background
This is really starting to bug me now as I have searched the forums and the web for hours and still cannot get this to work.
I am creating a simple one page site at http://freeselfhelpebooks.org/50ofTheBestPDProducts/
I want the header and footer image to have a transparent background with only the text showing, so that the text shows on the background image.
So far I have created the header image with a transparent background Modify > Canvas > Canvas Colour > Transparent all good so far. I have added some text. Then I save as file type PNG 32, however I still get the background as white as you can see above.
I have tried PNG 8 with alpha transparency, no transparency but to no avail. I have even downloaded Photoshop CS6 and have the same issues. What am I doing wrong here?First of all, your header graphic is fine; it's a transparent PNG. Your footer is a JPEG, which does not support transparency, so you need to resave that file into a different format (like PNG32, or PNG8 w/alpha transparency).
As I was trying to suggest, if you're confused about your graphics, check them in a graphics editor or viewer, not in a web page inside a web browser. Web development is a complex beast, and a lot can go wrong.
In the HTML of your web page, there is a class called "content" being applied to tables and images. This class has a background image being applied to it, which is responsible for the white background on those elements.
