Really slow wifi on new iPhone 4S fixed with new router.

I got the iPhone 4S and it was running slow on wifi, videos would start and stop start and stop to the point
It was unusable. Older iOS devices iphone 3G and ( 3GS on ios5) were fast on same wifi. Tryed new phone because
I have fast connection on everything else at the house including tv.   No luck same problem iPhone 4S slow vidio and web
surfing pages would take twice as Long to lode. Barowed daughter 4gin iPod touch same problem. So I went and
Got a New N600 wireless dual band router and again have wifi is supper fast on all devices including iPhone 4S.
Don't know why I had to buy new routter but happy it is fixed for now will let you know in a
Cuppel days if it is still fixed. By the way speed test app was running .20 down and 9.20 up that crazy!
Now the speed test is showing 24.79 down and 8.73 up. Good luck guys I know I wasn't alone with this issue.

"NETGEAR RangeMax Next wireless-N Router WNR834B v2"   Is what it says on the back? About 4 years old as fare as I can remember. My wifi is still slow at free hotspots around town I'm sure they have "older" if you can call it that routters too. My phone was fast when I went into apples store so I would bet they keep there wifi updated a lot.

  • WRT160N really slow wifi compare to wired

Hey guys thanks for helping me on this one.
The answer could be as simple as: get a new router. but lets give it a try. I read many many post on how to optimize the speed of the router but none worked so far.
I got a great wired Internet connexion hitting between 45 to 60 Mbps

  • Slow wifi on new iPad

The Wifi on my new iPad seems to be really slow - both at home and at work.
I've done speed tests for the connection via my desktop and everything is checking out ok - but, it seems like the conneciton on my iPad takes forever to download.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Any solutions?

There are several free speed test apps - Speed Test and Net Speed Test. In stall them and check your speed.

  • Internal hard disk really slow to write new files

    Hi
    I've had some problems with my mac lately;
it was running really slowly so I ran tech tool deluxe and it detected a bad surface sector.
I wasn't sure how to fix this so I copied everything from my internal hard disk onto 2 external hard disks.
Then I deleted all documents, files and most apps from the internal hard drive and zeroed out all free space using disk utility. (Which took four days).
Finally I did a re-install of leopard and ran tech tool deluxe again, which came back with no problems.
However, now I'm trying to copy all the files back onto hard disk it's taking a very long time e.g. iTunes files totaling 31.41GB would take 14hours
Trying to move the same iTunes files to the other external hard disk takes 25 minutes.
    Any help would be appreciated

Then I deleted all documents, files and most apps from the internal hard drive and zeroed out all free space using disk utility. (Which took four days).
It should not take four days to zero out free space. And it should not take 14 hours to write 30GB of data from a directly connected external drive. There is probably a problem with the part of the drive that was not deleted and zeroed; in the system installation. Or the problem could be in the disk directory structure.
The only way to fix it is to erase the entire drive. You should not need to zero out data, although doing so would do no harm and should take no longer than a few hours (depends on size of drive). Then reinstall a fresh copy of Mac OS X. After going through the updates and installing your apps, restore your personal data from those external drives.
If the drive is still acting slow, you may have a hardware problem with the drive.

  • TS3274 after updating my ipad with ios7, the keyboard is really slow. Any suggestions how to fix it?

after I updated my iPad mini to ios7, the keyboard has been slow. Any ideas how to fix it? I tried restarting it already. Also, how do you clear apps now? I pushed the home button twice to bring up the apps, but I don't know how to delete them. I tried holding the app down to make it shake but that doesn't work anymore.

To clear apps swipe up on the app. You might want to try resetting all setting it has helped some. Also try setting>general>accessibility>increase contrast turning this on reduces a couple animations which some say shows an increase in speed.

  • Really slow wifi since 10.6.6

For the past few days, my wifi has been so slow on my MacBook Pro.. think it coincides with 10.6.6. I am only able to download at 40Kb/sec, and I'm on a 10MB network. Can't load youtube videos without buffering or anything.
I currently booted up in Windows 7, and everything seems fine, speed wise. Also, my iPhone 4 runs youtube videos fine on wifi.
    Any ideas?

    Hi and welcome...
    Try a different Airport channel.
    Open AirPort Utility (Applications/Utilities)
Select the device you’re setting up on the left and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
If that doesn't help, go to /Library/Preferences. Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash, restart your Mac.

  • Rendering is really slow on my new rMBP

    Hi everyone!
So I bought a new retina MacBook Pro with the following specs: Intel i7, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD HD and NVIDIA GT 650m 1GB
It's the first time I have a powerfull machine and when rendering some twixtor animation in AE, rendering goes pretty slowly. I mean it' s a £2000 laptop with pretty good specs, shouldn't it be faster? Anyway I can accept that issue to a certain level.
But if I drag my original clip in my composition (without any effects/modifications applied) and try to scroll through to see where to start my effects, it doesn't play the video at its original fps. Is that normal?
Are there any software options I can select to push for better performance?

Thank you EVERYONE for the constructive replies! Really appreciate it!

There could be a lot of reasons why the render times are slow.  How slow are we talking?  Third Patry Plug-ins often take a long time to render.  Also After Effects never plays at the original fps without using the RAM Preview button.  Basically we need to know a lot more to help you.
Well that is good to know! I didn't know about the RAM preview until you mentioned it!
I've just tried it and for a 60fps clip (no effects added to it), it plays it at around 30fps compared to 25fps with regular play/pause.
    I'm using:
    AE CS5 v10.0.0.458
    OSX mountain lion 10.8
    2.3Ghz Intel i7-3615QM (4 cores)
    256Gb SSD Hard Drive
    8GB 1600Mhz DDR3
    NVIDIA GT 650M 1024Mb

Just because you paid what seems to be a lot of money, does not mean you have a very powerful machine; it just means you spent money. As much as I love Apple products, I find them to be somewhat overpriced for the amount of power you get. Not to mention that a notebook computer, no matter the brand, is always far inferior to a desktop machine at the same price point.
I agree with you; desktops with always smash laptops. But the specs I have are pretty good for a laptop. This is what we're concentrating on here.
"Slow" is a relative term. Twixtor can be a pretty render-intensive effect. Is this slower with the same project on your MacBook Pro than it is on another machine or is this the first time you've tried it?
Well it's true that I didn't try with other effects so I might be panicking for nothing. I'm comparing the rendering times with my 3 year old laptop:
    AE CS5.5 v10.5.0.253
    Windows 7 64bit
    2.1Ghz Intel Pentium (dual core)
    4GB
    300GB 5400rpm
    GPU: Mobile Intel 4 Chipset
You can see that the RAM is double, the processor is much more powerfull and having a SSD HDD over a regualr 5400rpm one, is a massive upgrade!
Also, you didn't list your processor speed, but you don't really have a very powerful machine. I mean, it's probably pretty good for a notebook (although, a lot of processing power may go into running that cool display.) And I say "probably pretty good for a notebook" because you haven't even said how many cores your processor even has. The max you could have in the i7 is 4, but you might only have 2. I don't know the specs on the new MBP, but a professional motion graphics workstation is likely to have 8, 12, or more. What you get in any notebook can never compare to a proper desktop workstation.
Well I'm confident enough to say that an i7 is one of the best processors you can get in a laptop atm. This one - 2.3Ghz Intel i7-3615QM - has 4 cores (and they each run 2 threads at a time). And the display doesn't hit the CPU that bad. The ram and GPU do work a little harder tho.
And I'm not here to compare desktops with laptops. My workstation has to be on a laptop. I work on yatchs and a desktop is irrelevant for me right now. So I'm looking at how to make rendering more efficient regardless of how slow other tasks (outside AE) might be.
Yes; there may be settings you can tweak to make AE render quicker. Turn off multiprocessing and see if it's faster or slower. Then try tweaking some of the other settings in the memory and multiprocessing and testing. There are many factors that influence rendering speed and there is no "correct" setting in there.
I will try all of the options mentioned above, hope that makes a difference or at least makes me understand how the software interacts with the hardware.

Twixtor is known to be a slower renderer due to the complex computations it does when creating frames.
Well like I said above, I do realise now I haven't actually tried any other effects. Good to know Twixtor might be the main reason and not the hardware it self!
I'm just really supprised AE cant playback a clip at its orignal frame speed even tho the clip hasn't been modified.

  • Adobe reader really slow on brand new Core-i7 machine

Opening of a PDFs is very very slow on my brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine. Machine is a new Core-i7  system with 16Gb Memory
PDF's which open on other much older pc's within a second take 20-30 seconds on this new machine.
The machine has a Radeon R260 Graphics card which was used in the previous machine with no issues. Just to be sure I have removed the card and used the on-board graphics to try to eliminate the card but the problem is exactly the same so must be windows related.
Reader has been uninstalled and re-installed with no Joy.
The rendering of the image is a problem as when zooming or panning the image again redraws very slowly (20-30 seconds) each time.
    PC is otherwise very fast.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks
    VS

    Hi VS2015,
Have you noticed this issue with any other program too or just with Adobe Reader?
How much on-board graphics memory do you have on your system?
Moreover, As you had mentioned that "The rendering of the image is a problem as when zooming or panning the image again redraws very slowly (20-30 seconds) each time." I would recommend you to Update your Video Driver from Device manager option in Control Panel.

    Rahul

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Really slow performance ..Is there a fix?

I'm running Vista Ultimate SP2 32 bit on a very clean, well maintained machine where I run PC tools Registry Mechanic weekly and with every install. I have a Dell desktop with:
    1. Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz
    2. 4 GB RAM
    3. ATA disk drive with 55GB free space
I am very disappointed at how long this program takes to load with an average 2-3 minutes to get it into edit mode with a very small project. The rendering process , that seems to take place all the time,  is also agonizingly slow. Are there preference settings that might make it run more quickly? I downloaded and installed Elements from Adobe 3 days ago so I'm assuming that I have all of the latest updates.

Running Vista on a Pentium 4 is a bit of stretch anyway -- particularly if you haven't optimized Vista for editing, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.

You also should ensure you have all of the updates to Vista SP2, including non-critical ones. You may even want to do a repair/install of Vista. Believe it or not, with all of the updates this past year, a repair can greatly improve performance.
There is also a tweak to ensure Vista makes more efficient use of your RAM, again from the FAQS to the right of this forum.

55 gigs of hard drive space is also a bit tight for video editing, depending on your video source files (unless you're editing to a second hard drive or to an external drive). I recommend you always keep at least 30 gigabytes of clean, defragmented space on your C drive when operating an intensive program like Premiere Elements -- and that doesn't give you much room for your video clips and scratch disks.
But the real core issue is likely your source files -- particularly since you mention rendering issues. What type of camcorder are you editing video from and how are you getting the video into your computer?
With your limited power, I'd recommend you stick to video from a miniDV camcorder. Hi-def video -- particularly AVCHD video -- is going to choke the life out of your machine.

  • Syncing is really slow after upgrading my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 4.3.3.

After upgrading my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 4.3.3, syncing my iPhone takes 15 to 20 minutes.  Prior to this, it only took a minute or two.  It just sits on "Preparing to Sync" the whole time, an finally completes the sync after 15 or 20 minutes.  My office 2007 Outlook locks up in "Office Outlook is Syncronizing Folders" right after syncing.  I have to reboot the computer to get it out of this state.  What is the problem here?  Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, how was it resolved?  Thank you.

  • Really Slow Start-Up, force shut-down, only with one user....

Lets see. I've had this puppy since August of 2005. We've been through a lot together. Im sure this is apple telling me to buy a new computer BUT all I want is to make sure I do not lose ANYTHING of importance. THE PROBLEM:
So, I used my computer on Saturday, came home late on Sunday to check my e-mail. And I turned it on, logged into my Administrator account and go distracted, 30 minutes later the desktop hadn't fully loaded. The background picture came out, the tool bar from the little apple to the Help loaded, but my google notifier, airport and time and finder did not load. The application bar at the bottom loaded, but nothing happened if i moved the mouse over it. I had maybe 10 files and 4 folders on the desktop, so i tried moving them. I logged into another account to delete stuff I didnt need. It got a little better. I was able to actually move the folders into the HD icon on the desktop, and TRIED to take the picture off the desktop, but I ended up having to go to bed after hours of trying to fix it.
I would have copied everything to disks, but a few months ago my CD/DVD ROM failed. Well, I never got it looked at because i've been in transition to LA. But it just spits any disk that is put in.
I thought maybe I have too much stuff on the HD, causing it to be slow, but its not even 1/2 full. So that really can't be it.
I have 2 accounts on my iBook. One is mine, the Administrator and the second is the Guest account for anyone borrowing my computer. I tried logging into the Guest account and it works perfectly. No problems with it at all. I am sooooo confused as to why overnight there is another problem with my computer. I have an appt with a Genius on Thursday, I do have my OSX Install Disks. I just found them!!
Any thoughts or suggestions GREATLY appreciated.

I've been trying to help another individual with an issue similar to yours. That case is a little less extreme--only certain applications cause trouble, not the whole works.

See if any of that helps you. If not, it's probably best to ask the Apple experts when you go see them--my final idea is to erase and install the OS, which isn't an option for you since the CD/DVD drive doesn't work.
