Really unusable now..

i've always liked skype.. and it's worked well in the past.. now.. i can't use if for more than a few seconds before my speech (according to the people i call) becomes like a tape recording or echo..repeating over again and over again my words.. and not continuing to broadcast additional speech.  basically.. it's a totall waste.  which is really ashame.. is there anything that can be done about this issue???

Man, do you have Sophos antivirus? If that so, you need to uninstall it the right way:
For Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X version 7.x , go to Macintosh HD|Library|Sophos Anti-Virus.
Select 'Remove Sophos Anti-Virus.pkg'.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
NOTE, if you are running Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X version 4.x, the path in step 1 is Macintosh HD|Library|Application Support|Sophos Anti-Virus.
It seems that Sophos antivirus is crashing ML. They have an update but I'll wait some time becuase I've really had a painful time these days.

  • I have been so patient for so long, but I am really angry now.

After about 3 months of terrible internet connectivity problems with our FIOS, hours and days on the phone with tech support, hours running tests, replacing equipment, trying new settings, slowing our work pace down to a snail's pace... after all this, I was still patient. I realize this stuff is not always easy or apparent. Finally a tech support guy who was probably at his wit's end -- he could see the connection testing badly and timing out on remote desktop and there was nothing left to check or try -- he suggested sending a guy out. I asked if we would be charged for it and he said only if the technician determined the problem was with our equipment... and that he would let us know before be incurred any charges because we'd have to sign off on them. So a guy came. He did a bunch of stuff, I guess, I wasn't watching. In the end he couldn't figure it out and he simply said sorry and left.
At that point I was trying to decide whether or not to find a new service. Up until that point, I was still happy with the customer service and the tech support, but we couldn't continue without a stable internet connection. My husband suggested upgrading to a higher spped line. I admit, I thought it was ludicris to pay more for a bad connection, but since there was a 30 day warranty, we tried it. Still no luck. Just before I was about to give, I tried these forums again. A tech called me. He spent about an hour on the phone, made some adjustments to settings at their end, and voila! It worked! I though he was a genius! While I had wished someone had done whatever he did about 3 months earlier, I was just glad it was fixed and I could move on with my life.
That was until I got my bill. An hour and a half of labor charges for the guy who came out! I guess he *thought* it was a problem with our equipment because he couldn't solve the problem. But he had never told us we were going to be charged. I was a little upset but I figured I would just call and when they saw that the problem had been resolved and it was on Verizon's end, surely they'd see the charge was an error. Right?
So I called and the representative I spoke to was not very helpful and he said he would submit it for investigation and someone would call me the following Wednesday. He took my cell number. Wednesday came and went, and a few more days passed and no on called. I contacted billing online and got a reply a few days later that no one had followed up with the investigation. Someone called and left a message to call back while I was out sick the following week. So I just called back to see how I could get this thing moving again only to be told that THE INVESTIGATION IS OVER AND THE CHARGES ARE VALID. Really?
I am still trying to figure out how what could be called incompetent on the part of the Verizon techs at solving a problem that was at there end the whole time has resulted in us losing many hours on the phone trying to work it out, 3 months of slow-to-no internet, a larger monthly bill, and now $137 in labor charges. This is wrong on so many levels. I am trying now to figure out if I have any options or if I can file a report somewhere. Had I been told I would be charged for the visit, I most likely would have cancelled my Verizon service then and found another provider. I can't believe this is how a long-term, loyal (yes, I was always speaking highly of my Verizon service) customer is treated.
    ~Very unhappy

  • Really serious now

A lot of peolpe have iPods now. This player really good - looks good, plays good, has many features. Some would say it`s perfect. But one thing keeps it from being so - iTunes.
There are a lot of posts in this and other forums. People have a lot of problems with iTunes. I had one too. I posted here - no one could help. Spent 5 hours trying to find out what was wrong. No one helped. I didin`t even find a support e-mail, so wrote to [email protected], but got now answer. The only way to solve this problem seemed other programs, which, I really thing, aren`t approved by Apple. But the only really great program I found costed extra 25 $...
The point of this is that if iTunes doesn`t start or causes any other problems, your iPod is useless. iPod needs iTunes, iTunes needs Quick Time. If one of these doesn`t work, your iPod won`t work either. Or you are forced to pay extra money for programs, even risking to lose warranty. And isn`t this just because apple wants to earn extra money for selling music?
Drag&drop to mass store device would be way more easy.
Anyway, if you are facing the same problem like I did - error while executing iTunes - READ THIS. Remove all codec packs you have (it was K-Lite Mega Codec Pack in my case), then remove Quick Time (either by using shift+delete on it`s folder, or remove from Add/Remove list if it`s there) and download the stand alone Quick Time player from Apple web page. Then install iTunes (it comes with QT, but it won`t be installed if you already have one). Everything should work then.
The main problem was that Quick Time Player was somehow installed in a wrong way and iTunes is only a plug-in for Quick Time (one guy explained me all this on an IRC network - thanks a lot, mate ), so if you don`t have Quick Time or there`s something wrong with it, you won`t be able to use iTunes too.
And I couldn`t remove Quick Time, beacause it was "In use". Removing codecs helped. Then I manually deleted Quick Time folder and installed it again.
Hope it works for all those, who get same windows errors: "The program needs to close".

Bruce, the first two or three links I got back didn't
mention That aspect, so I didn't figure it was the
case. Of course, going a bit further down the list, I
found the "home" for this codec pack.
...when you are right, you truly are right
They've stripped out any direct mention of the
application and are bundling it all under the
"codecpack" moniker. But it's the same ol' thing. A
hacked and stolen app to steal music and hacked apps.
    Whaddayaknow!
K-Lite Codec Pack is merely a collection of audio and video codecs. It has nothing to do with Kazaa (the file sharing app). It's just one of many codec packs that are available to allow users to play various formats that their OS doesn't support out-of-the-box. I have the K-Lite codec pack installed and iTunes works perfectly.

  • R-tree indexing: really 3d now?

    Dear all,
after studying the Spatial Reference guide for 11g I am left wondering what the story is with the R-tree index. Does it really consider all three dimensions now? And all you have to do is set the sdo_indx_dims to 3. Does anyone know another reference about this index apart from the spatial reference guide?
    Thanks,
    B.

  • Updated 9.0 Beta (20111212185108) a few days ago. Now having "Not Responding" message almost everytime I use Firefox. Long delays until it responds. Almost unusable now.

Downloaded update to Firefox 9.0 Beta (20111212185108) on 12-16-11. Update status was successful. Now Firefox delays with "Not Responding" message almost every time I click on something. Browser is almost unusable.

You are welcome. I'm glad you got it back up.
    (1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
    (2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
    (3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
    (4) Add some SARE rules:
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules.htm and download the following rules:
    70sareadult.cf
    70saregenlsubj0.cf
    70sareheader0.cf
    70sarehtml0.cf
    70sareobfu0.cf
    70sareoem.cf
    70sarespoof.cf
    70sarestocks.cf
    70sareunsub.cf
    72sare_redirectpost
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/other-rules.htm and download the following rules:
    backhair.cf
    bogus-virus-warnings.cf
    chickenpox.cf
    weeds.cf
    Copy these rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/
Then stop and restart mail services.
There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

  • Ever since the large update my Apple TV has become completely inconsistent.  Unable to connect to WiFi or keep a connection when I get one. As well before the update it would connect really quickly, now even when it does connect it takes forever to do it.

A few weeks ago I was using my Apple TV ( gen 3) and it started to automaticall do an update. That was the really long one. Ever since then I have been having more trouble getting it to connect to my WiFi and stay connected.
I just did another update and nothing seems to have changed. Please don"t tell me it's interference or I need to "reboot" the system. I've done that so many times my cats know how to do it now!
I've tried everything that I can find online and in my users guide but nothing seems to be helping except unplugging it and starting over, every time I change shows. I'm ready to toss it out a window, any ideas? And no, it doesn't seem to qualify as the models that were being replaced.

I have been having the same issue and am now VERY upset because it works for about 5 minutes so I bought a movie(that you can only watch on AppleTV once you buy it) thinking it would work...but now it stopped again. I rebooted the system I even reset the thing with no luck. I got into the first 2 minutes of the movie and only have 24 hours left to watch it. At the moment I am not very satisfied with the AppleTV update and hope it is fixed and I get my 6.99$ back.

  • URGENT : I am really pissed now

Dear Blackberry Users & if any one from the company's reading this post, please send a remedy for the problem that I am facing from past few weeks as it's my fourth handset that I got replaced from my dealer becasue of the constant screen flickering problem.
If anyone can suggest why it's happening would be a great help.
My Screen works properly & whenever I compose a message or add a contact or check my pictures,my screen turns full black without any notification & then comes back to its normal position & again after few intervals whenever I use it it turns black again 2-3 times after recovering to its normal state.
Blackberry people & their service center says that it's a hardware manfacture problem & I should go for a replacement. This' my 4th replacement now & I am facing the same problem with my BB Curve 3G,prior handsets that I used were BB 8520 & I faced the same problem.
BLACKBERRY PEOPLE or if there representatives worldwide have read this post of mine,do help me on this as I am tired of replacements.
Just drop me one genuine soluation to it.Earlier I was using my BB curve 8520 which I bought 6 months back & I am happy with it as I have never seen any screen goes blank while using applications.
Some people says it's BB Protect problem, but that can't be justifgied as I use BB Protect already on my 6 month old BB 8520 handset & It's working smoothly without any complaints.
I am really pissed beacuse of this SCREEN automatically going blank while u compose the sms ,add a contact or compose an email or look into pictures.
I need a genuine solution to it as don't give me the **bleep** that I my be pressing the ALT key accidentally as I know how each key functions.
Serious & genuine reply needed urgently.
Removed personal information to comply with Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions of Use.
    Warm Regards,
For Blackberry People & my sampathy to those who are facing the same problem"SCREE BLANK & blinks 2-3 times & comes back to its normal state & the cycle goes on & on as u use ur handset"

    Hi
This is a user-only forum so whilst it might be visited by someone from RIM, it most certainly can't be guaranteed.
That does not mean that a solution to your problems will not be forthcoming; it may well be.
    aman_vashishtha wrote:

There is almost certainly some issue between the OS and an app on THIS device. Just because it hasn't materialised on another device doesn't preclude this being the cause. Whilst themanufacturing process of any kind of product can result in a faulty batch, its pretty inconceivable to believe that you have hit upon that batch.
So, when you get a replacement, do you put the very same copy of the OS back on? (Either personally or at the dealer) and do you load any apps already stored on a backup? Me personally; I would have ditched all apps  and downloaded to PC, a brand new version of the OS after deleting the existing stored OS. Further, I would also delete/uninstall from the PC any trace of any RIM PC software. Then with no remants of the past, I would introduce new copies of the apps, 1 at a time only if the device was fully functioning. Soon as an app screwed the device, I would repeat the entire process WITHOUT that particular app.
There are many versions of the OS available and a vast number of apps; maybe sufficient that no 2 devices are alike.
Anyway, that was srerious and genuine thought and guidance, here is the process:-
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    and save it to computer.
If the PC does not recognize the BB, You need to connect the via the USB cable. Then pull the battery from the BB.
With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector and as SOON as you see USB-PIN:UNKNOWN hit Next. You have to be quick. From there you can put the battery back in (make sure you install the battery or else when the OS update is completing and the device disconnects from the computer to reboot, it will lose the power provided by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to do it all over again!).
If you don't get it right the first time, try again (unplug from USB, pull battery, connect and hit Next while USB-PIN:Unknown is showing). You have to be fast and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four attempts.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
    1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
    2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
    3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
    4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
    5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    9) Press "Y" to continue
    10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • ITunes unusable now, please help.

Hello. First I apologize if this has been discussed somewhere else, I did some searching but came up empty. Then again it's 4am here so maybe I missed something.
Anyway, I bought an iPhone in November. I installed iTunes on my laptop and it worked fine for awhile. About 3-4 weeks ago I noticed that iTunes doesn't see some of my songs. The mp3s are there and I can see them and play them using other media players. But iTunes refused to see the mp3s when I used "add file to library", "add folder to library", or even simply dragging the files into iTunes. That's problem number 1.
My newest problem is that now when i launch iTunes it takes a good 1-2 mins to load up. Then it works very very slowly. As in when I click say "music" it takes a good minute to show any sign of well... "doing something" of course it doesn't show anything. After another min or two of doing nothing I get a windows popup message saying iTunes encountered a problem and it's closing. It tries to find a "solution" but of course there isn't one.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes a few times. Did registry cleaning (with back-ups of course), uninstalled some other programs people said might cause issues. So far nothing has worked. iTunes starts, shows the iPhone page, a few mins later it crashes. Even if I do nothing and click nothing it still crashes.
If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know. It's really frustrating because I can't do anything with it and I really want to add songs to my iPhone.
Thank you in advance, and sorry for the long post.
    Peace.

This is sounding a bit like a library file issue, nirgal. On the other hand, a few other things can cause similar symptoms.
In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

  • Well the forums are really boned now!

The DB is boned. Or something.
I have posted replies into multiple threads. Many of these replies are not appearing. The threads move to the top of the forum like they have been replied to but no reply is shown.
Refreshing sometimes some of these threads show that they do have replies. Sometimes not.
And which ones show to have replies and which one's don't keep changing.
There is something seriously awry here.
And the performance is beyond terrible. I might as well have a 33.6 modem to connect here for all the speed.

Refreshing sometimes some of these threads show that they do have replies. Sometimes not.
And which ones show to have replies and which one's don't keep changing.Same for me, I thought Opera might be loading from cache, but it was the same after clearing the cache. Only just now I saw 10 responses on a thread I responded to hours ago, refreshed and got 14... mine was at #11. And I had to refresh 7-8 times just to view 2 responses on the CLDC/MIDP forum.
I'm hesitant to post any useful response to any questions as I really don't know whether the problem is already solved.
Looks like Sun has maximum job security... or maybe they can't afford a proper team. The entire lot deserve the sack.

  • Several Bugs in Flash, drawing tools unusable now

So frustrating. It's clear Adobe won't do anything to fix their broken drawing tools in Flash, and every version is more broken and less useful than the previous one.
    Glitches:
    1. Pencil tool is jittery, inserts so many points and jagged parts that it makes it an unusable line. Pencil tool is on smooth setting at 100%.
    2. So I moved to using the pen tool even though it's slower to my workflow, but when drawing with it moves points away randomly making every point broken in the segment. So both pencil drawing tools do not work at all.
    3. When saving a file, after typing a letter it highlights the whole file name so if I keep typing it erases everything. Frustrating when saving several versions of a file.
    4. When using outline onion skin mode, it turns all layers into outlines as well instead of filled in colors, making it impossible to see which is the onion skin and which is the drawing.
    5. Flash randomly loses its display of all windows and I end up losing my work.
    Technical info:
I am using the most up to date version of Flash Pro CC on a Windows 7 computer with an Intuos Pro tablet with driver Driver 6.3.11-4a.
I will not be using Flash anymore and will be migrating to Toon Boom and recommending all animation studios I work at to do the same. It's clear Adobe does not care about Flash as an animation tool with each broken update.

This has more to do with your tablet than Flash and #5. makes me think either your graphic card is going or you  don't have enough memory to display what you're drawing. I draw at least 12 hours a day in Flash at least six days a week and never have these problems but then I have 24gb of memory installed and a 6 gb video card. What I'm saying is these aren't bugs so much as issues with your hardware. Maybe roll back your driver? Or it's just possible that your computer simply can't handle the vector calculations or that your tablet is too old to handle Flash. In any event I can't really agree this is an Adobe thing. Here's something I drew in Flash late last year and you can see my line is clean.

  • ITunes is really slow now.

I added about 1500 songs in the past week, and now iTunes is really slow. Whenever I do anything with iTunes I get the colorful wheel. Can I fix this?

is this with iTunes 11.0.3 (the newest update that just came out a week or two ago)?
If so, don't do anything. I think 11.0.3 is a little buggy - I've noticed the spinning beachball too, sometimes clicking things does nothing, and it crashes a lot. I'm expecting/assuming that Apple will have another update out within a few weeks to fix the bugs.
Quitting and restarting iTunes might help, but I wouldn't do anything more than that.

  • Skype is really soft now

Hi guys, thanks for helping me out. Skype was working all fine for me, until one day it just got really soft for my friends to hear me. Like I had to shout into the laptop's mic for them to hear me barely. Things I've tried:
    1. Reinstalling Skype
    2. Calibrating Skype settings
    3. Calibrating Windows Sound settings
    4. Reinstalling Realtek Audio (cause I thought there was a prob with the mic software)
Still stuck with the problem somehow. And it definitely isn't a hardware issue with my mic, cause right now I'm using Razer Comms VOIP in place of Skype, and my mic works just fine. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks for the help!
    Dan

Interesting. Try the following test: install a virtual audio device between skype and your microphone. Then record the audio on this virtual device to see the source of the problem (i.e hardware or skype). For this purpose, one alternative is to install an echo cancellation software like SoliCall Pro.

***I'm honestly not super familiar with most kernal extensions but I do see you have MacKeeper running which can slow the computer down
****** This next section talks about Launch agents and Launch Daemons.
****Something to keep in mind is that when you first get the computer that all of these folders are empty and the files in them are all third party.
****If you want to see if the system runs better without them Shut the computer down and turn it on while holding the shift key
****This will put the computer into safemode which turns off third party files and extensions and does not let any launch agent/daemons files run.

    ***Everything else seems fine

  • My iPod Touch 4g is unresponsive to touch in some areas...almost unusable now, and not under warranty.

This iPod is not under warranty anymore, unfortunately, but I've noticed that it has had a few problems since I got it, but it was never this bad until just recently. The iPod touch screen will not respond to touch in a vertical row  on the left side of the screen, and horizontal in random area of the bottom screen, which is hindering me from typing or playing apps and even scrolling through my music. I've tried this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1827, I've also restored, restarted, all kinds of things. This device has never been jailbroken, had waterdamage, or anything (it's also running the latest hardware). The iPod used to do this, but I'd reset it several times and it'd be fine, but just recently it won't fix anymore. It also is very erratic and touches the "s" key for example, even though I'm actually touching the "m" key, which are very far away from each other. Also, sometimes if I unlock it (which takes multiple tries since not of that row works) and leave it there, it will starts doing it's own thing and opening random apps and such. I'm thinking of taking it to the apple store (the only reason I haven't is because of many bad reviews online for that store), but I'm afraid they are going to want to charge me for half of what I paid for it. Any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

all good now problem solved never mind
