Really want to buy an IQ800 - but wait until Windows 7?

Hi,
I REALLY want to buy a TouchSmart IQ800, but I was told to wait until Windows 7 comes out - that won't be for another 8 months!
I was also told that by that time, they probably will offer bigger CPU's, Memory, and Video Cards...
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I've got the IQ810 TS, which is the United Kingdom version i presume, and have played with it so much despited being a novist with PC's, i can tell thats its a beauty to have one of these babies, and to retirate i'll call her my baby, its like a new toy or mobile phone you configure to a very satisfactory taste. I manager to creat a dual boot OS containing the Original Os that came from the manufacture, mirroring each other, reason is siimply to upgrade one of the OS to Window 7 whlie retainning the original sorfwares and drivers, my joy isn't just having the TS and what it potentially could do but the journey it took me to getting to where i am.
My advise would be, depending how urgently you like to have one, weigh the positive against the negative, having in mind when it come to computers, elctronics or TECHNOLOGY, its ALWAYS CHANGING, and as for window 7 RC if you decide to upgrade to, Window 7 will expire next year, by then MS would have released the window 7 for consumers to everyone.
Even with the wall mount i got as additional kit, i've left mine on a coffee table, better experience, accessiblity and conviences, to be honest i ffind it difficult to use anything smaller than a 25" screen or Window 7 with the multi touch, split screen for comparison, multimedia i.e t.v, 2D & 3D designs programs.
I think i've said enough, have fun like i did mate.......

  • I really want to buy Apple TV but I have some concerns...little help?

I really thought Apple TV was a great idea but the more i look into it the less I like it. Can someone help me with these concerns?
1.) seems like only new releases are available to rent, I'm more interested in renting than buying and not just new releases.
2.) no tv shows are available to rent.
3.) If i buy all this stuff i have to back it up to my hd which adds to the already expensive titles.
Please tell me I'm wrong... I'm dying to buy this lol, And thanks!

Many older things are available, but as you say not all available to rent - itunes will give a good indication of what's out there.
I suspect many older titles (not all, and frankly many newer ones) won't benefit from HD and may only be in SD.
Older titles when available may also be cheaper to rent or purchase.
2.) no tv shows are available to rent.
Not currently. Maybe in the future, but no one knows for certain.

Yes, you need to back up purchases if you don't want to risk losing all content in a hardware failure, but that's normal for any digital material you have that you'd hate to lose if there's no redownload option.

  • I want to buy a appleTV but still have a iphone 3gs. Will everything work as with a iphone4?

I really want to buy a appletv but still have a iphone 3gs. I want to know if everything will work the same as if using it with a iphone 4 (photos, videos, music etc.)

Speed might not be optimal, but you'd be best using home sharing from a computer and controlling your Apple TV with the Remote app anyway.
The direct answer to your question is yes, it will work.

    thanks

One of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision.

  • I really want to buy an album from the Australian iTunes, but I live in America

I really want to buy this album that is not on the American iTunes, I'm considering the option of setting up an account on the Aussie store, putting in my card (which would be American), and gifting the album to myself. Or if I must, I'd have to drain my $12USD in the American store... First world problems? :/
Any other suggestions or anyone willing to like... help? haha any input is appreciated.

The copyright holders don't like cross border sales. Not only would you need a to clear out your current credit, but you would also need a credit card attached to an Australian address and for your initial purchase you might even find that you need to be working form a computer physically located in Australia.

I was a kid when I made a documentary for a school project. I've been trying to figure out how to retrieve the file. 4 years ago, I was able to get the files off the Iomega Zip drive (finally), but I now see the file is saved as a .A4P. There is also a file saved as a .PKG as well, but I don't know how to open this with my Windows 8 COmputer.

.a4p is an Authorware v.4 (Windows) project.
Interesting you have it as a .pkg...usually that's a published-on-a- Mac extension, if I recall.
At any rate, can you put the file up on a Box, Dropbox, FTP, etc...and send me a URL?
I should be able to published it so you can view the project (it would be an .exe).
It can't be converted to anything though - not without manual effort.

  • I wanted to buy a macbook but im concerned about the...

i wanted to buy a macbook but im concerned about dead or stuck pixels, now i do music production and a lil bit of photography and i need a really clean display, ive had dead pixels and stuck pixels, in my past monitors and i just dont want to be running up and down trying to find a good macbook with a good display

And, what do you propose we can do to help you? Bad pixels in displays is a manufacturing problem. Testing a display is the only way to assure it doesn't have bad pixels. "Running up and down ... to find a ... good display" is the only solution. It’s not something with which we can help you.
In the future if you have a question or problem, then please post it as such.

These are user to user technical assistance forums, and nobody here represents Apple or any store.  In order to find out whether you can buy something at a particular store, you really need to find some way to contact the store directly.

  • I want to buy few apps but i don't have a credit card

i really want to buy a few apps like nfs etc
and i would love to pay for them...
but i don't have a credit card and i don't even plan to get one in near future..
till now i have been downloading and using only free apps with my itunes account
is there any other way i can buy paid apps from itunes?
shouldn't there be a way of making payments through the carrier ?
i will be more than happy if the apps bill is added in my carriers monthly bill
    any ideas ?

The purchase of 3rd party apps is handled by Apple thru iTunes only. Apple collects the revenue for the developers keeping 30% of the sales price to cover credit card fees, hosting fees, DRM, collecting and paying applicable sales tax, etc. It isn't possible to charge 3rd party apps to your carrier's monthly bill, and your carrier probably wouldn't be interested in handling this for free if this were possible.

  • I want to buy Lightroom 5, but is Lightroom 6 going to come out soon?

I want to buy Lightroom 5, but is Lightroom 6 going to come out soon?

Unless you are really strapped for cash, I recommend buying Lr5 now, and Lr6 when it comes out, and don't think twice if you just missed a cutoff..
That way, you are running the best version of Lightroom now, and will be again in the future, and your money is helping to support the software you use.
The moral of the story: don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish by trying to give a minimal amount to the company which feeds you.. - send the message: "I want the best version of Lightroom you can produce, and I'm willing to pay for it - thank you..".
That said, Lr6 is likely to come out fairly soon, presumably no more than a few months..
PS - There is "always" something enticing for everybody in a new version, despite the features you couldn't care less about.. Lr6 will probably have face recognition (which you may or may not care about), but there will no doubt be some improvements to the develop module too etc..

  • Hi All! I have an iphone 4s. I want to buy an ipad but torn between wifi or wifi cellular. Can I use for sure, my iphone 4s as the wireless hotspot for my ipad if I get the ipad wifi only? And if yes, is the signal/connection good? Thank you.

Hi all! I have an iphone 4s. I want to buy an ipad but I'm torn between wifi or wifi+cellular because of the price difference. Can I really use my iphone 4s as the wireless hotspot for my ipad? If yes, is the signal good and fast? Thank you for your response.

    Yes you can if:
1: Your cellular provider offers a data tethering option.
2: You have subscribed to this option.
Speed will be as it is with your existing iPhone.

Watch the Apple Online Store’s refurb section for non-Retina 2012 models. The 2.9 GHz model is a very nice machine and there were some available within the past week. Check daily, because they go fast. I bought one last summer and I love it, but I am not playing games on it. B&H Photo still has some 2012 models, also.

I don't like the 'non-retina' MacBooks, why downgrade when for £100-£200 more you can get a retina Mac which looks and feels 100x better.
It's hardly a downgrade to those of us who care about being able to upgrade our Macs ourselves if and when we need or want to do so. For me, having a FW800 port is also a consideration.

  • I want to buy Photoshop cs6 but only have the option to download it, can I buy as a cd?

I want to buy Photoshop cs6 but only have the option to download it, can I buy as a cd?

Well actually it would be a DVD given the size, which is what Adobe used before they went to download. Most PCs and Macs have stopped shipping with DVD drives and downloads are the way to go, especially with fast connections.
If you open the Adobe .dmg file on a Mac, the installer actually mounts as a virtual DVD.
So  yes, better to download and save it to an external drive. If a DVD got damaged, you would have had to order and wait for the replacement disc to arrive. Now anything from CS3 to CC 2014 can be downloaded from Adobe, no replacement charges and no shipping.

  • Want to buy NX Xtra but is the headphone jack going to be a probl

    Hi,
I have being doing research on the various HDD players currently available and I am leaning towards getting a 60GB Zen NX Xtra but the only thing holding me back is all this stuff I keep reading about the defecti've headphone jacks.
Does anyone know if Creative has solved this problem yet? If so is there anyway to tell (e.g. serial number etc.) whether it is a good one or a bad one? How about the Zen Touch, does it also suffer from this defect?
    thanks,
    Aidan

If reliability was not an issue my decision would be so easy - I'd purchase the Xtra without a doubt. Now I am really going back and forth. The Xtra has everything I need for the right price but I still don't trust it. I've looked at many ofl the review sites and some of the reviews are just plain scary and very off-putting! There are some really dis-satisfied customers out there. Even if I got the yr. extended warranty it still would be a huge hassel if I had to return it, probably not worth it to me. I really want to buy it but the only thing holding me back is my impression of the poor reliability. I've also looked into other players apart from the iPod. The iRi'ver looks good but I read that it is very slow once the hard dri've starts getting filled up. This is not acceptable to me as I know I will have a filled up dri've. I was scared off the Rio Karma and RCA Lyra by reports that I read of reliability. My requirements are very simple but it's not easy to find a product that meets them. My basic requirements in order of importance are:
. Reliability and longevity. I think this is something that should work perfectly for many many years, NOT months. I am not an early adopter of technology, I have my laptop for 5 years already and it should do me for another 5. My desktop is even older.
    2. 60GB so I can store my entire music collection and have room to keep adding more or at a bare minimum 40GB. I proabobaly will have close to 40GB after I finish ripping all my CDs so that's why I'd prefer 60GB. It should work just as effecti'vely with the dri've maxed out as with hardly anything on it.
    3. Decent sound quality - doesn't have to be audiophile quality, just decent
    4. Reasonable ease of use.
    5. Painless connectivity with my old Windows laptop and desktop machines
    6. Something that doesn't break the bank. Around $300 seems fair, but I could be convinced to part with $400 especially if it aced all the other requirements.
These are pretty simple requirements but I'm having trouble finding a player that meets them. I'd love it to be the Xtra, but as you can see it's my number priority that is holding me back here. I'd like to hear someone say something reasuring to me about this but a player that has worked perfectly for 2 whole months does not quite seem reassuring enough.

I want to buy a song but it's telling me I don't have enough store credit, I have $1.35 the song cost $1.29 how do I fix this?

You would have to put more money in the account.
You must be able to pay for the song and associated taxes.
