Really weird ... need help!!

Hey all ... I need your help!!
I typically use Safari and Firefox for browsing on my iMac. Until this evening, I have always been able to highlight the text in the address bar and type the site I want to go to (i.e. xmradio). I have never had to type www. or .com before and after, respectively. Now when I type xmradio (or yahoo or google or whatever) in the address bar ... I am directed to www.domainsrchr.com .... stating that xmradio or yahoo or google or whatever does not exist or is not available. Anyone have a clue what has happened?? Any suggestions on reversing this oddity???

It sounds like you may have acquired a Trojan Horse. To find out, and remove it, you need to download and run DNSChanger Removal Tool. If it finds it, you must restart your Mac when it's done to complete the removal process, and then you should have no more problems.
This Trojan Horse is spread typically on adult-content sites with a blinking ad that claims it can't load a video because you're missing a codec and tells you to download and install it. There is no such codec; all legitimate codecs are from legitimate companies who have their own web sites and don't rely on blinking, Windows-type ads to trick you into downloading and installing them.
Don't be so quick to download something unless you know it's legitimate or from a trusted download site.

Using iWeb to publish my mobileme photo gallery -really weird bugs help plz

I have a really weird problem and have tried searching the forums already with no luck.
I'm using iWeb09 to put mobileme photo album on my website. When I initially add the widget onto my page, the widgets will show a "preview" of what pictures are in the gallery if you hover your mouse over it. Later during the day, I'm not sure if I did anything to mess it up but that "preview" is no longer there. It's just a black box. It still works however if you click on it because it takes you to the mobile gallery.
The only way for me to fix it was to delete the mobile me album and create a new one. Then re-add the widget onto my iWeb.
This has happened twice to me already and I cannot figure out why it happens. I'm sorry if my description is vague. Please help.

There is no point in re-installing iWeb, because after you have published it really is not an iWeb problem - if there is something not working on uploading the files, then it is really nothing to do with iWeb after html pages have been created.
If you are using Fetch to upload, then you have obviously published your site to a local folder? If so, are the photos there when you look at your local site? If they are there when you publish to a local site, then it is an error in uploading and if photos do not show, it means that some things are not being uploaded to your server correctly.
Have you tried using Cyberduck instead of Fetch? Cyberduck or Transmit are two of the better ftp programmes to try.

Dock acting really weird - Please help!

After installing the Mobile ME update and iTunes 7.7, my dock has been acting really weird.
1. I usually set the default dock size at the smallest possible. However, now when you left click on the separator of folders and applications, it allows the dock to become smaller than possible when setting from the Preference Pane
2. The dock automatically becomes smaller over time until the icons are really tiny.
Is this a bug encountered by anyone else? It really bugs me that I have to keep pulling the dock to a standard size. Can someone please help me out of this mess?

Thanks for the quick response.
I did just that. Deleted the com.apple.dock.plist under my user home directory/Library/Preferences.
While it reset the dock, the problem still remains. You can view the problem by
1. Setting the dock to the smallest possible size via the Preference Pane
2. Turn on magnification and bring it closer to the left side of the adjustable bar
3. Now, use your mouse to drag the dock by the separator
Observation: The dock will become smaller than is "set" by the bar in Preference Pane
4. Click on the bar in the preference pane, set at small, the dock will resize itself again
5. Choose the dock to be set on the right
6. Choose it to be set at bottom
Observation: The dock is a LOT smaller than it could ever have been.
7. Click on the smallest possible size in the preference pane, the dock resizes itself
8. The dock keeps getting smaller over time still. =(!

Anyone has 'Yourlink'?? Nothing works here with me, really desperate, need HELP, please!

Hi there, I have wireless internet through 'Yourlink.ca'. The cable comes from the roof, goes through a modem and gets plugged into my computer.
I tried everything with my Linksys router, every connection option, a really nice and IT guy helped me for a few days, I tried a crossover cable, nothing works.
The connection from computer to router is fine, but something does not line up from modem to router . . . When I've had everything installed and connected I've had to give in the DNS addresses I have from yourlink by hand to have some and those ones were the only numbers displayed on the 'Status' page.
I really dont know what to do anymore, please can anybody help me?? Yourlink is really not very helpful in that matter, even so they should know what works best with their connections/modems to routers, you get only some very plain answers on the first help level.
There should be an easy explanation to everything, I am starting to loose my mind!

My cable comes directly from the roof where the little dish is installed and before it comes into the room it goes through the modem, so it hangs all together. The modem is on the wall of our sunroom and from there the cable comes into my computer room through the wall.

Mini display to VGA weirdness - need help connecting to CRT

Hello,
I am new here and recently purchased a Mac Mini (2011, 2.3 Mhz i5 model).
I am probably in the vast minority as far as monitor choices go, as I am using a NEC FE2111SB CRT monitor. 20" viewable, looks good or better than most LCDs, so I see no need to replace it. I have the mac hooked up via a mini display to VGA adapter and it works, but has some weird problems.
When booting to Windows 7 through bootcamp, the screen starts off all white (like normal), but then goes black. Nothing. I wait a while, then my normal Windows login screen eventually pops up. So for whatever reason, the entire Windows boot screen (one with win 7 logo, etc) won't show up at all.
The boot screen does show up if hooked to a LCD. But I tested two CRTs, and the boot screen is black for both, no signal.
I was guessing that perhaps the boot screen used a weird resolution or refresh rate through Apple's EFI, so I figured I'd try several things. First was simply changing the resolution on the mac side of things. And then I noticed other weirdness. If Lion is set to high resolutions, say 1200x960, or 1600x1200 (or anything besides 1024x768), then I also lose the white (apple) screen that typically pops up when starting the machine. The white screen being what you see when it first starts, then you can press the keyboard to get the apple OS choices (if bootcamp is installed).
So basically what I have is: if I leave lion at 1024x768, I get the white apple boot screen, and it boots into lion normally.
If lion is anything besides 1024x768, I lose the white boot screen, and am loading lion blindly, just waiting for the lion login to hopefully pop up eventually.
If lion is set at 1024x768, then I do get the mac boot screen, yet bootcamp/windows is all black until windows 7 boots up. I have not found any resolution or refresh rate at all that will allow me to see the windows 7 boot screen when using bootcamp, and this adapter + CRT.
Any suggestions? I have tried two minidisplay to vga adapters, apple's and rocketfish, both had the same problems. Although I found the apple branded one to be a little more finicky than the rocketfish adapter.

Possibly too many adapters.
Signal strength dropped off when I used minidisplay-to-DVI/DVI-to-VGA/VGA-keyboard-viedo-mouse splitter, and "nothing" came through. minidisplay-to-DVI/DVI cable worked fine.

What is podcasting producer is? Can i buy it? or I need a special server? Really I need help

I want to make Podcasting, but really I don't understand when my system say you need a Podcasting Producer and it requires a server name, so my question is do I need to buy a server? What kind of server do i need?? Or what do I need to know to make my owns podcasts?.

The Podcast Producer and Podcast Capture packages were retired a while ago. They're no longer part of the current OS X versions.
Unless you're hosting the podcasts from your own Internet server either for your own local users on your network or hosting them publicly on your own network connection (and that chews up your network bandwidth, as well as requiring you to manage a server), these (or similar) packages are (were) not necessary.
As for creating podcasts, use GarageBand on your OS X system or on an iOS device, then upload the finished podcast to the site you're hosting the podcast at; to Apple or whatever other entity is providing the hosting.
There are some podcast creation how-to links on the left side of the Apple Podcasting web page. There are probably some podcasts and videos on this topic around, too.

Man this is weird need help badly

I just got my new imac today from fedex and I'm having some problems early on ok I got quite afew programs that run windows and mac and none of them will install and run right take warcraft 3 for example it just crashes as soon as you run it then there myst 4 and 5 don't run right either all of them just crash whats going on with this thing anyways love the computer but getting very fustrated that nothing I have runs on this mechine.

The older iMacs used PowerPC chips from IBM/Motorola. Software for those Macs were written in binary code specifically for those chips. The new iMacs have Intel chips and software must be written in binary code for those chips. In this interim period Apple has incorporated into the Operating System software called Rosetta, named for the famous stone which finally allowed archeologists to decipher ancient Egyptian. Rosetta allows software applications written for PPC Macs to run on Intel Macs by translating the PPC binary code into native Intel binary code on the fly, or in real time. However, it has its drawbacks, especially where games are involved. PPC software using Rosetta are much more memory intensive than native Intel software. There is a new creature added to the mix called Universal binaries. These are a new breed of software applications that contain both PPC and Intel binary code. They can run on both PPC and Intel Macs
So, first you need a lot of RAM to run games. Second if the game manufacturer has issued a patch to your game that makes it more Intel friendly or updates it to be a Universal binary, it is to your advantage to check with the game maker and download and install the patch. Third, Windows games will not run on Intel Macs unless you have used one of the methods available to install Windows XP on your Intel Mac.

This is unit is really slow, need help what to do or recommendations

just got this new unit, check my name, everything was slow, already did add new partitin for my files, have 2 questions as of now1) if i do system reload using acer recovery, will repartition my HDD back to same state the first time i turned this on?2) what bloatwares i need to remove? I have an older lappy that has 2 physical cores, with 1gig ram, running on windows 7 and has 1.5ghz processor, this unit has 2gb ram and 4 physical cores, no installed new software, every time i watch a movie, or open a new window/program like file explorer, it has a delay atleast 10seconds, my old lappy just have 3-5 secs of delay, even having new tab on IE/GChrome, will have blank page for 10-15 secs. before it will load, and i can feel the lag if i switch windows from one program to another, even task manager will not repond sometimes. every feed back will be appreciated thanks

Really weird happenings (Help!)

I've built a site for my dads running club. I kept it simple
as he wants to update it using contribute. I uploaded it just now
but there is something very weird happening when I go the the site:

The 'Home' and 'News' are fine but the following pages have 2
title banners and 2 navigation bars. Both are swfs. I'm using CS4
Dreamweaveron my imac. There seams to be no issue when I test the
pages in the browsers or in live view. I had a look at the html but
I cant seam to work it out.
Can anyone lend a hand please!?!

File not being written!! really weird! help!!

My problem is very strange.

The problem lies in this line:
outFile=new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(file.getName()+".mlp"));
Whats funny is that if I replace "file.getName()+".mlp" with "file" it works! >.<
But, I want my files to be saved with a ".mlp" extension.

For the future why don't you simplify your code by using:
String fileName = file.getName() + ".mlp";
System.out.println(fileName);
outFile=new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(fileName));
This way you can display the actual name of the file and make sure it is what you are expecting. Basic Debugging 101.

I am trying to compile a servlet and I have run into a few problems.
I am using Forte for Java as an IDE and I am using the JDK 1.1.8 ... The problem is with my imports...
My imports are :

Take a look at the command that Forte uses to compile the class. It should include the jar-file rt.jar somewhere.
Have you tried a simpler program first?

Video looks weird, need help

I recently played some music videos on my tv through my ipod, and the videos looked had small blurred squares.
Is it the resolution? How can I fix this?
the encoded settings I used for my 60gb ipod in mpeg4, 320x240, frame rate and aspect set to auto.
Should I use different settings during encoding, if I am going to view them on a bigger screen?

Yes, it is. 1200 x 900 pixels.
I have been working with Photoshop for years and this is the first time I've noticed this.

Weird error message need help..

SO.. i havent updated my itunes in a while because i keep getting this weird message.. it comes up when im almost done installing the newest/newer versions of itunes. it says
"the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" "click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below"
now when ever i choose a file from the browse box it replies with this message "the file 'xxx' is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. try to find the installation package iTunes.msi in a folder from which you can install iTunes."

With that one, let's try the following procedure.
First, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. If it goes, good. If it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to iTunes.
Next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover iTunes or QuickTime program files:
(1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
(2) Open the Program Files folder.
(3) Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
(4) Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. (Note: This folder may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
(5) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue. (Note: These files may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed using Add/Remove Programs earlier.)
(6) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
(7) Restart your computer.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly now?
