Realm enterprise-manager (401 Unauthorized)

Oracle Application server is installed on the same machine as the infrastructure. The infrastructure install went well. Then I installed the IAS with no problems and then I configure the server to only run one instance of Apache, again without a hitch. So far, so good.
I can get to the "Welcome to Oracle9i Application Server" page with no problem. However, when I try to access the Enterprise Manager using the correct information for userid and password for the Realm "enterprise-manager" popup. It comes up 3 times and then gives me a "401 Unauthorized" page.
I have succesfully completed the reset password routine, but it still doesn't fix the problem.
Any ideas?

It's good to see I'm not alone! I've run into the problem four times now, on Windows 2000 Professional, and have finally pinpointed the reason, however not the solution. It happens right away when I disable the MS Loopback adapter that I used during installation of the iAS, thus running the normal network adapter.
The result is pretty bad - I'm not at all able to find a workaround. It does not help to revert to the loopback adapter. I simply have to reinstall everything! Password resetting according to the release notes addendum at first seems to work fine, as I long as I stay at the DOS prompt. When I try to enter Enterprise Manager however the same thing happens - 401 Unauthorized. Reboot doesn't help.
A detail that may or may bot be significant, is that I have being doing this away from the office, so that I have not been connected to the configured domain. (Another detail is that I'm starting from an Oracle employee OBI base install of Windows 2000; not just the first time, but every time)
I wonder why not more people are getting this problem - I get it all the time. Please help.

Error 401--Unauthorized when deployed on WL Managed server (10.3.3)

Hi,
I created & started a WL-Managed server on my window desktop machine. I deployed to this Managed server, an application which is running without problem on Admin Server. (The managed server is created in the same Domain as that of Admin Server)
However, when I log on to the application on Managed server & enter the UID & PW I get the Error 401--Unauthorized page. The same security works perfectly well for Admin Server.
Any clues what could be going wrong.

SAP XI error: 401 Unauthorized (When calling from Enterprise Portal)

Hello Friends
I am trying to access an SAP table from IVIEW of portal via XI. Using the latest and greatest version of all SAP Components. (We just installed couple of weeks back).
I keep getting the following error message when I try to access data from IVIEW of portal.
"SAP XI error: 401 Unauthorized"
What may be the reason? If some one can help me, I would really appreciate it.

401 Unauthorized Error when Registering Workflow Manager

I have installed the workflow manager successfully. However, when I try to run Register-SPWorkflowService I get a 401 Unauthorized error. I am running SharePoint 2013 Management Shell as administrator.
When I use internet explorer to browse to https://FQDNofServer:12290 I get prompted for my password 3 times and then get the Not Authorized Error here as well. I have tried this from the local host as well as remote machines with the same result therefore,
I don't think I need to disable loopback check.
My user is a member of the Workflow AdminGroup as well as a local admin, farm administrator and I also added my account as an administrator for the Workflow Service Application in Central Administration. I also tried giving the workflow service account full
read on the web application.
I cannot find anything in the ULS logs or windows event viewer logs when the login fails. Any help would be appreciated.

Error 401--Unauthorized

I add security to my ADF application. Login.jspx is the first page which does not has PageDef file. Welcome.jspx is the second page. I drop a panelTabbed with a showDetailItem to it. Then, I create a taskflow with only one view and drop it to that showDetailItem.
I create a welcome.jspx without PageDef. I create a user named jcooper. I have an application role named myapplicationrole and an enterprise role named myenterpriserole. I map myapplicationrole to jcooper and myenterpriserole.
Can anyone tell me the detail steps of adding security to taskflow of a jspx ? I create a taskflow named staff-task-flow-definition which has staff.jsff. staff.jsff has PageDef named staffPageDef.xml.
I can use jcooper to login in the login.jspx. However, after login, I get errors as follow.
I do not assign any premission to webpage and taskflow in the Resource Grants Tab of jazn-data.xml
What I need to do is adding two showDetailItem. Each showDetailItem has a taskflow. One taskflow is for manager, the other is for staff. How to set application role, enterprise role, and users to this application?

The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). 401 Unauthorized Error

I am getting a "'401: Unauthorized' for url: 'http://10.160.48.41:80/servlet/GatewayServlet" error when I try to access one of my servlets. This servlet is not constrained in my web.xml file. I am using WLS 10 When I deployed my web application, I selected the Deployment Descriptor Only option for my security realm.
My goal is to have two servers running WLS10 with my web applications communicating with each other. I don't want to make individual server accounts for the server interactions (pushing data to each other). I plan to use two way SSL with server certificates. For Client API calls to the servlets, I will use container manage security for that servlet via WLS-Active Directory.
The intersting part regarding this is I can access a different method in the same servlet using a web browser.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Sorry, I have no answer for this, but I am getting a similar problem and would really like an answer. It seems that when communicating between servlets, there needs to be some sort of security setting that will allow one to communicate via http to the other.
Surely someone has encountered this and knows what needs to be done?

Application Server Control Console 401 Unauthorized on logon??

I have installed oracle application server on windows server 2003, when i try to open Application Server Control Console, it give me logon screen and it says;

the server <servername.domain> at enterprise-manager requires a username and password.
when i provide user name and password, it does not accept it and after three tries it goes to page that only says: *401 Unauthorized*,
First i do not know why this is asking for user name and password as it should not ask for it, second if it is asking then what user name and password should I provide to get in, i also tried os password as well but unable to log in,
Please seek help if anybody help me to sort out this problem.

I am not sure what application server have u installed, if its weblogic server then defalut username and pwd can use to login, default username and pwd is weblogic and weblogic.
If u r using same and then also getting same error then create boot.properties file inside security folder.
Example
username=system
password=weblogic
start your admin server.
it will read the username and password from the file boot.properties and next time when you open the file you can see that it got encrypted.
In previous versions of WebLogic the boot.properties file was loaded in the $MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain] directory. During startup WebLogic would check its existance, if it was there it would checks its credentials. If correct the administrator would not be prompted for a username and password.
This location has now become unsupported and the default location has changed to
$MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/[domain]/servers/[managed_server]/security

I'm attempting to get a SharePoint 2013 Provider Hosted Application working in a brand new SharePoint environment. I've created snapshots of both my dev and the sharepoint environments along the way and have meticulously documented every step of the

Please Note: I was under the impression that a Provider Hosted Application does not use the Azure Access Control service, so I'm confused as to why my system is attempting to make this connection?
Also Note: I've used a self signed and godday obtained certificate to successfully f5 debug my basic web.title (out of the visual studio 2012 box) sharepoint provider hosted application... so I know my certs are good.

Yes, actually - I was able to resolve it.
However I don't know how, unfortunately. I suspect it was because I needed to have the names of the certificates, defined during the certificate registration (to sharepoint) process, different.
I have a complete document that shows step by step instructions on the exact process I took to complete the provider hosted application creation, deployment and publishing. It was a daunting task, but I finished it successfully.
If there's a way to send private message on this forum, please do so and I'll respond with a way to obtain my document.
NOTE: I'm not all impressed with the way this forum works. This is supposed to be a Microsoft resource and I'll be damned if I ever get a response to highly technical questions. Completely lame. Boooooo Microsoft.

401 Unauthorized Error When calling a SharePoint REST web service from SharePoint 2013 Workflow

We have our Workflow Manger installed on the same server as our SharePoint 2013 WFE development environment. When creating a SharePoint 2013 Workflow all Calls to a SharePoint 2013 REST web service results in a 401 Unauthorized error.
As an example I created a simple workflow that should return a JSON result. The REST Url returns the results in the browser without error.
Set Variable:webServiceUrl to https://<hostnamedsitecollection>/_vti_bin/client.svc/web/lists/getbytitle('ISR%20Approvers')/Items?$select=Title&$filter=Title%20eq%20%27General%27
then Build{...} Dictionary (Output to Variable:requestHeaders)
then Call [%Variable:webServiceUrl%] HTTP web service with request (ResponseContent to Variable:responseContent |ResponseHeaders to responseHeaders | ResponseStatusCode to Variable:responseCode)
The RequestHeader is set to the requestHeaders variable though the web service call properties
then Log Variable:responseCode to the workflow history list
After manually running the workflow in SharePoint on a list item in the ISR Approvers list it Logs "Unauthorized" in the Workflow History Log. It does this with every SharePoint REST web service call that I have tried through the workflow.
It doesn't have anything to do with the Workflow Manger being installed on the same machine as the SharePoint WFE does it?

According to your post, my understanding is that you had 401 Unauthorized Error when calling a SharePoint REST web service from SharePoint 2013 Workflow.
Please make sure you use the ‘Call HTTP Web Service’ correctly.
You can enter the URL into the brower to check whether it is correctly.
You need to
create the Request header requestHeaders
using a Dictionary:
Accept : application/json;odata=verbose
Content-Type : application/json;odata=verbose
To associate the
requestHeaders variable, select the Call action
property, set the RequestHeaders property to
requestHeaders.

401 - Unauthorized error while connecting to userprofile web service in InfoPath 2010

Hello,
I have 2wfe (NLB), 2app, 1db farm.
Everything is working fine except for one computer! I have several InfoPath forms, they have custom webservices and userprofile web service. They work without any problem, but there is one computer that gives me 401-Unathourized Error! I'm not sure it is
double hop issue because there is no other user/computer we are having a problem!
I checked several blogs, they refer to hosts file, but not sure because why is it happening only on one computer?
I have hosts files refers to 127.0.0.1 webapp .
What could be the issue? I have other Service Apps are working without any issues.

No, due to the issue is happening only on one computer.
The error "(401) Unauthorized" usually indicates that the connection has been established but the permission check fails. InfoPath Form Services uses the application pool identity of the web
application to connect to resources.
Does the account which login the computer have permission to connect to User Profile Service Application?
For a workaround, you can go to IIS Manager , set the User Profile Application Pool to Anonymous Access and try again.

Browser prompting for username and password to access enterprise manager.

I've just installed Internet Directory 10.1.4.0.1 and am having trouble connecting to Application Server Console in Enterprise Manager.
When I try to go to the url http://localhost:18101, a dialog pops up asking for a username and password. In firefox it says 'Enter username and password for "enterprise-manager" at http://localhost:18101'. IE6 just says, 'enterprise-manager'. I have tried various sets of credentials for this - my network userid and password; and ias_admin, orcladmin, sys and sysman, all with the passwords I specified at install time. None of these work. If I cancel the dialog box I get a '401 Unauthorised' page. I'm sure this is coming from apache and is basic web page authentication, and not an enterprise manager login.
Has any one seen this before?
I can connect through directory manager, and I can connect to the database console for the metadata repository.

I have congigured Reporting Service for Sharepoint Integrated Mode adn Created new Reprot Server DB

In Sharepoint Central Administration
Manage Reporting Service Integratio i have selected the URL and "Trusted Account" as my web applications use "Windows Integration - NTLM".
All services, DB access everything running under one domain user account.
I am logged into sharepoint with same account. When clieck on set server defaults i get following error
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
Same error when i try to add a report to a sharepoint webapplication
The domain account is part of "Farm Administration", "site colletion administrato" and local administrator also on both servers.
Can someone let me know how to fix this.

and are using Kerberos.
I've installed the wfe on the ssrs and am using a domain user for services, web and pools.
I get all green dots in the ssrs config.
in Central Admin, Grant access seems to work with the domain user, but set defaults gives me:
HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
What should my web security on the default web site and reports and reports server look like? Integrated Security
Should the SSRS WFE entry in MOSS have Web application service turned on?
I've checked that my SPNs are good.I've installed sql server sp2 and a did windows update on all servers..
Could it be the user I log into the Central Admin with.. it's got server administrator and Farm administrator?

Problems connecting to SSRS using IReportServerCredentials, the request failed with http status 401: unauthorized

We have a hosted SSRS server and we access it's reports using the reportviewer in an ASP.net application.
We are getting the error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. When trying to run one of the reports. I have confirmed that the login details work when logging into the report manager page directly.
I have implemented an instance of IReportServerCredentials in a separate class (below) and I call it from the page before it tries to access the report. I'm not sure if this is all I need but can't seem to find any other info.
I have managed to gain access connecting to the external server from my PC and accessed the report, but when I promote the code to production and run it from there on my local PC I get the unauthorized message again: the request failed with http status

According to your description, you are getting the error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized when you access the report using the ReportViewer in an ASP.net application.
Regarding the 401 error, it could cause by the Service Principal Name(SPN) for the account the Reporting Services is running under hasn’t been registered when the Reporting Services is configured to use Kerberos authentication. So in your scenario,
please check if you are using Kerberos authentication. If that is a case, please make sure SPN is configured correctly. For more information, please refer to the similar thread:
